A Mess

A Mess

Play

Have you ever been in a situation that was such a tangled mess you couldn’t make any sense of it? Hi, I’m Lysa TerKeurst with Proverbs 31 Ministries.

The other day I sat down to pray about a messy relationship and the knots were so consuming I didn’t know how to pray.

I was too tangled up in with emotion and assumption.

That’s why sometimes it’s best if we just sit quietly and wait. And let God do some work and untangling on our behalf.

You know, another name for Jesus is Messiah and I’m convinced there’s a reason the first four letters of Messiah spell mess. We need Him. Everyday. So whatever happened to my mess? I’m still waiting to see what God’s going to do. But I am confident that He can take that mess and turn it into a mess-age of hope and forgiveness.

  1. I love these one minute messages!!! They are so helpful with getting my thoughts back on track to following Jesus and what would please him. My only wish is for extended versions of these messages from Lysa and Renee. I am a woman who could use a good 10 to 15 minute of coaching :D Keep up the good work!

    • Diana, thank you so much for your note. We love hearing from listeners and friends!! And I love your idea of talking just a little bit longer on these topics. Hmmm. Wonder how we could do that?!

  2. Sometimes God doesn’t wait for us to go to him, He just speaks!! thank you for allowing God to speak to me through you – blessing!

    • I love that image you painted with your words – Him not waiting for us to come to Him, but just speaking to us cause He knows what we need to hear. We love that we get to be part of Hims peaking to you!!

      • Beloved of the lord Jesus Christ,
thanks for your tireless effort, hard work and commitment to the lord Jesus Christ.

So, so true! I love this quick glimpse at simply allowing God to do what He does best! He handles it. I think we’ve all be in a messy situation at some point in time. I love P31 and love Lysa! I am so blessed by this ministry on a daily basis and strive to live my life the way you ladies do! Thank you so much for sharing and growing along side of us, not ahead of us! We are all works in progress ;) Blessing and Gratitude, Becca

My life has been many tangled messes for the past 1 1/2 years. I felt so “unglued.” Back in March I was browsing in a book store and came across Lysa’s Unglued book, read the cover and said yes that’s me. Bought the book and have read through it 3 times now, getting ready for #4. I woke up one morning and felt relieved and at peace. The messes were still there, just not so tangled up any more. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out my transformation. Then I hooked up with your website and after reading your blogs and messages for several weeks I realized that God came to me and made my load bearable; I didn’t even have to ask Him! Now I live with Proverbs 3:5 in my (almost) every thought. Thank you to all of the ladies at Proverbs 31 for making me realize we all go through the same stuff, and for giving me the tools to deal with it. Can’t wait for the OBS.

  5. Thank you for this inspiration. Praying for our ‘mess’ of unemployment and how it will affect our family if my husband doesn’t get a job soon. Asking God to turn my fear to faith. It’s so hard to sit quietly and wait, but will continue to worship Him and praise Him in this storm. Proverbs 3:5 has been showing up all over the place in my life. Trusting the LORD…

  6. Sometimes the Mess feels as if it contains as many things as numbers in my age! It took 6 days in the hospital for my mind to unwind to finally hear The Still Small Voice! Where else would I run? Who else would I turn to? YOU HAVE THE WORDS OF LIFE!

  7. This came at the perfect time for me. I’m trying to untangle the messy relationship I have with my mom, I thought I had heard God’s answer then some came up that I’m not sure if I’m hearing God’s voice or mine own. Now I realize I need to wait & let God untangle the mess & turn it into a message. Thanks for letting me know I’m not alone.

  8. Amen. I also have many messes, but learning the Lord must be the de-tangler of them is so true. And to learn to wait sometimes can be hard! But He is ever faithful :). Thank you all for continuing to show us ladies we are spiritually holding hands as sisters in Christ.
