Finding Your Sweet Spot

Finding Your Sweet Spot

January 14, 2015

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8 (NIV)

Ruth Soukup

To many people she was simply ordinary. Nothing special. Forgettable.

An “average” student, she didn’t play sports, wasn’t involved in clubs, was never voted into student council. She never really stood out or commanded attention.

But those people didn’t see her quiet drive and determination.

They didn’t see how she worked her way through high school, saving enough to pay for community college and beauty school. They didn’t see the personal tragedies she endured that inspired her to work harder. They didn’t see her consistently pushing herself to be better, learning everything she could about doing hair, fashion, style and running a business.

Although we now live more than 3,000 miles apart, my childhood friend Alysha still inspires me daily.

Today, Alysha owns and operates a successful salon and boutique. Sleek, stylish and full of sparkle, it’s appropriately named Bliss. Simply walking through the door makes you feel special.

She is not just good at what she does, she is great.

Alysha and I have been best friends since the sixth grade and I’ve had a front-row seat to all the times people underestimated her. I’ve watched her keep doing what she loved, despite her challenges, until she found her sweet spot.

Our sweet spot is that place where our greatest passions and our talents or abilities intersect.

It’s that special place where we feel most called, that thing we love, that thing we’re great at that makes life worth living.

Just like Alysha, living in the sweet spot means having courage to follow our dreams, take risks and work harder than we ever thought to accomplish our goals.

As our key verse in Romans 12 says, each of us has different gifts. Some excel in leading, while some encourage others or effectively serve in the background, giving, organizing or following through. And while some gifts might appear flashier or more important than others, they’re all essential. Your sweet spot is yours alone.

The truth is, all gifts come from God: “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us,” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6, NLT).

Finding your sweet spot often means a messy process of finding, then learning how to embrace the God-given talents you already have, rather than those you wish you had. It means discovering what you enjoy and are truly good at, then determining how to merge talent and abilities with the ideas, dreams and pursuits you are most passionate about. And sometimes finding your sweet spot means taking a wrong turn — or even failing along the way.

But despite the messiness of it all, my hope is we become fearless and dare to take the plunge, even when it means risking failure. Philippians 4:13 reminds us: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (NKJV)

Don’t let the fear of falling short deter you from trying. You will make mistakes. You will mess up. You may have to admit defeat. Keep going. Use them as opportunities to discover what doesn’t work, but always persevere.

Your sweet spot is there, waiting for you, even if you haven’t quite found it yet, and in the end, it is exactly where you need to be.

Dear Lord, help me discover the gifts and talents You gave me, to find that sweet spot You have reserved for me. To encounter that place where my passion and abilities intersect, because I know that it is there that I can do the work You have called me to do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TRUTH FOR TODAY:
Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (NIV)

1 Corinthians 12:17-18, “If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” (NIV)

I would love to win a copy of this book because I just started Dave Ramsey’s program and want to read more about frugal living and I’m currently not spending anything extra so I can’t buy the book. ☺

    • My sweet spot would most definitely have to be praising God through the gift of song. For as long as I can remember, I loved being able to sing in the last church I attended back in 2006 when I was a student at the University of Illinois Springfield, attending Living Word Fellowship Ministries. Nevertheless, I’m so glad that I’m now attending TBC-Temple Baptist Church Champaign, IL, where i’m a faithful member of our praise and worship team on a monthly basis. I thoroughly enjoy using this incredible gift that I’ve been given by God. Nothing is so much better than showing others that praising the Lord is something we can all do. “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8 (NIV) Wow! What a wonderful thing to always remember! Each of us has been given specific gifts to use for the Glory of God. God has given us our various gifts and talents to use to serve Him in whatever capascity. “FINDIG YOUR sweet SPOT MEANS EMBRACING God-given talents YOU ALREADY HAVE RATHER THAN THE ONES YOU wish you had.” Wow! Embracing the talents we’ve been given by God is a lot better than wishing we had a different one. We shouldn’t be jealous of what others can do, as each of us is unique in our very own way. “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us,” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6, NLT). Amen! Although we may have different spiritual gifts, God wants to use us in whatever way possible. He has a calling for each of us- something He wants us to do to successfully serve Him. “Dear Lord, help me discover the gifts and talents You gave me, to find that sweet spot You have reserved for me. To encounter that place where my passion and abilities intersect, because I know that it is there that I can do the work You have called me to do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. “~Ruth Soukup Amen! What a wonderful prayer as a way of thanking God for everything that He has already done in and throughout our lives. We can be a source of encouragement in whatever wey God wants to use our gifts and talents. Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (NIV) Amen! God can give us the strength to do all things that we’ve alwayss wanted to do. No matter what we want to do, we’ve been given the strength to get it done by the One who loves us. 1 Corinthians 12:17-18, “If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” (NIV) – As we’re the body of Christ, we’re to be used in whatever way God wants to successfully use us. We can provide hospitality to others, who may not have any friends. God’s is surrounding us in everything we do.

  16. Sherene McDonald says:

Good morning, I love this mornings dedevotional. As a middle school teacher, this devotional would help me to encourage and pour the word of God into the lives of my students. My pastor encouraged us to take the Word od God and share it with any and everone we come in contact with. This devotional is an exceptional way to do this. Take today’s for example, everyone may say that you are ordinary but they didn’t see your struggles behind the scenes. Eventhough you may mess up just keep on trying! This is what my motivation for my students is for today and allow 2 of them share what does that mean to them! This is why I would live to win this devotional!

    Sincerely in Him,
Teresa (38 year old single mom)

  63. I need help! I constantly spend. I just got married 2 years ago and my husband has been shocked at my spending habits. See he thought when I was a single mom I was very frugal well that is because I had to be. Now I struggle with knowing how much we have to spend I do not control it anymore. I would love to win the book so maybe it will help me before it starts to affect marriage.

  64. Courtenay S. says:

Our pastor just spoke about Siritual Gifts this past Sunday! I love this encouragement about finding the place where passion and talents meet. I’ve been reading The Best Yes, and Lysa Terkeurst writes similarly about finding the thing that fills your soul by blessing others.

Thank you for the encouragement that I feel was “just for me”. I know that I have found the ‘sweet spot’ that God has given me, however the devil is always there trying to knock me down. Your encouragement through our Savior has knock the devil out of my thoughts and have directed me back to where I need to be. Thank you!

  69. I would love to give a copy to my daughter-I worry that her focus is too much on shopping. Granted, she is a great shopper, I still worry it is filling a void in her life.

  70. First, thank you for this wonderful devotion of encouragement. As someone who feels like she is still trying to find her “sweet spot” (I’m pretty sure I know my passions and talents/abilities, it’s just figuring out how they intersect), this feels like something God really wanted me to hear for encouragement. I would love a copy of Living Well Spending Less because who doesn’t want to live a good quality life! To be able to learn more about how to do that and then share with others would be a blessing.

  71. I have decided to re-commit my life to my faith and church in 2015. It was a challenge my pastor gave to see if this year would be better than last year. I am making the necessary changes in my life in order to do this. One of my downfalls is my spending habits. It is like an addiction. I know I should not buy things, but I always make excuses in my head as to why I “need” something. I would love to have this book to be able to discover God’s plan for my spending habits, and take back control of my spending.

  72. ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASON I WOULD LOVE TO RECEIVE THIS BOOK IS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING THROUGH THE PAST YEAR PRAYING THAT GOD WOULD HELP ME DO WHAT IT IS I NEED TO BE DOING FOR HIS GLORY . I DO HELP OTHERS A LOT AS OFTEN AS I CAN BUT BECAUSE I AM ON DISABILITY AND I HAVE SEVERE IBS I AM CONFINED TO HOME SO VERY MUCH AND I WANT TO LEARN SOME CRAFTING BUT I AM AFRAID I WON’T BE GOOD AT IT OR ABLE TO DO IT AND I DO NOT LIKE THROWING MONEY AWAY, BECAUSE I SEE SEVERAL DIFFERENT DOCTORS FOR SEVERAL THINGS AND I GET SO VERY LONELY AND BORED , IF I COULD GET OUT MORE I WOULD GO TO PEOPLES HOMES AND HELP THEM WITH THE THINGS THEY NEED HELP WITH , I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A GIVING PERSON AND I GET SO MUCH JOY OUT OF HELPING OTHERS,BUT UNTIL MY HEALTH IMPROVES I BARELY GET THE THINGS I NEED TO DONE. I PRAYED MY HEALTH WOULD BE BETTER THIS YEAR SO I COULD GO VOLUNTEER SOME WHERE , HOPEFULLY THAT WILL HAPPEN SOON AND I WILL BE OVER FLOWING WITH JOY TO PUT A SMILE ON SOMEONE’S FACE AND MAKE THEIR DAY BETTER FOR THEM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ARTICLES I READ THEM DAILY AND THEY ARE VERY UPLIFTING .

  73. I would love a copy of this book because I’m trying to concentrate on using my financial resources in a way that leaves more so that I can help others.

  74. I have working on seting goals not resolutions. I believe the book would help me pursue those goals. One of which is slowing down and simplifying my life

  75. Right before I read this devotional, I prayed for God to show me the gifts he gave me and to fill me with the gifts of the Spirit. I also struggle with overspending even though I have had my household income reduced. I really want help changing my mindset so that I can provide better for my children and give more generously. Winning this book would be awesome in my current situation.

  79. Searching for ones sweet spot can be sometimes very challenging, most especially for mom’s who’s dreams get lost in every day demands. I too have struggled with that. Although, I feel The Lord is guiding me. I would love some clarity through this book. I also have a passion to help other women find their sweet spot, as I know it’s been a struggle for me. Thank you and blessings to you and the ministry.

  80. I’ve always been frugal and a saver; I was brought up that way. I’ve been working at a job that I do not enjoy due to the convenience, flexibility and need to pay for unexpected expenses of a stepdaughter at Teen Challenge. My husband keeps telling me that I should become a counselor, but I guess I’m not sure if that is my “gift” and frankly I’m scared of the weight that career would bring – to listen, understand and give advise to someone in difficult times. Perhaps this book would give me insight.

  81. Wonderful, God given words I needed to hear today.

  82. I would love to win a copy of the book because I have heard so much about it and would like to read it for myseol. I am following the budget plans from Dave Ramsey and am working on becoming debt free. This book would support my new lifestyle!

  83. I would love to win the book because I am working towards saving, paying off debt and being more responsible financially. I would love the encouragement and I want to improve in this area so I can pass on better habits to my children. Thank you for today’s encouragement!

  84. This devotional hit home. I am also a hair designer /salon owner. Everyone thought I wouldn’t turn out to be much and I followed my dream 8yrs ago and in a few months I will be venturing out on another step in my dream and opening a bigger location and buying the property.
Hairdressing is my gift. I LOVE it and what I love the most is touching people’s lives and making them feel special. In September I decided to follow Jesus again and recommitted myself to him. Now I also share his beauty with my guests and I trust in him that each step I take will be with his hand holding mine. Blessings to your friend and her talent and success and to all women and men who didn’t feel like anyone believed in you, believe in yourself and trust in God he has a plan and never stop learning and looking for you gifts.

  85. Tamela Ward says:

Enjoy learning from others and serving to help others find their sweet spot! Look forward to reading!

  86. I would love to win. I have been a single Mom for 16 years and so frustrated with living from pay check to pay check (once a month) and never having enough to make it through the end. I need to be able to save so that I can have what is needed in times of emergancies, when I need a little extra for one of my sons or to go to the dentist for myself. I know that God is always with me and that He has helped me through many many tough spots but I also know that I need help in learning how to manage things better and I think your book would begin that process.

  87. Thank you for today’s devotional. Just what I needed to read to remind me of His love for me.

  88. Many changes have come about in the last few months, and I am learning to take inventory of what is truly best for me, and my family, as children of God. I would love a copy of this book to help me understand the gifts I can still offer to my family and others. It sounds wonderful.

  89. Susan Monroe says:

I enjoy reading so many of your post. I am considering a life change & think this might help me with my choice.

  90. This message spoke to my core. I am currently struggling to try to find my sweet spot while being a Proverbs 31 woman, wife, and mother. I would love to win this book and start putting the strategies into effect. Thank you for your words today, they were just what I needed to hear.

  91. My husbands business has failed…our home is in foreclosure…in the midst of bankruptcy. I’m driving 3 hours round trip a day for my job. Who’s life is this?? Words are in my vocabulary I never thought would apply to me. But they do. In the midst of it all I know God has a plan for a way out. He promised He’d direct my path. Maybe this book can be a tool to help me on this new journey. Thank you!

  92. I would love a copy of this book as it fit my day so perfectly to remind myself that I am on this journey myself to find my own sweet spot and God is challenging myself daily with new things that I need to reevaluate about myself. God is so close to restoring my heart for total submission for His glory! I am search of my sweet spot to keep focus! Thank you for this opportunity. -God Bless

  93. Christina kindt says:

This new year my goal is to read something other than picture books. I’d love to read this.

  94. i would love a copy of this book because in 2015 my family wants to spend less. How discouraging is it at tax time to see how much money you made and wonder how exactly it is possible.
We want to spend less so we can worry less and focus more time and energy on praise and worship instead of worrying.

  95. Ruth smoke says:

I would love to win a copy of Ruth’s book to give to a friend who has recently lost her home and is having great financial didficulty.

  96. I enjoyed reading this devotional today. I am a single mother of a special needs child. After much prayer I made a career change which required a cut in pay. I did this for life balance. As it turns out I am working about 15 hours overtime a week in a salaried position…which means, unpaid work. I am actively seeking new employment but am barely scraping by. Sadly, I am much more stressed and have less time for my son. We haven’t even attended one of his special olympics practices since I started this positio.

  97. Christina B says:

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been fervently praying about recently! What a joy to wake up to a message that I feel so connected with right now. I would love a copy of Ruth’s book. My husband is in school, we own a business, and have a toddler running around. We could definitely use some help on living well and spending less :) Thanks!

  98. Tracy Bockbrader says:

The book sounds great! Feel like I found my sweet spot, but wondering now if it’s changed? Or just my attitude? Thanks for the great devotional!

  99. Devon Sellers says:

To put it simple I want to be better steward with our money for The Lord, our family and to help our marriage.

  100. God always answers prayers and sometimes it is in the places one never expects. I have been praying for direction. I seem to be all over the board and can’t seem to hone in on what I am truly good at. What is it I am called to do – which gift is my strongest – and what is my next step? I would love to be blessed with a copy of the book.

  101. Thank you for a devotion that directly addressed a recent prayer. God at work!
Your book would also be an answer to prayers. I would love to have.a copy. Thank you!

  102. Jenny Morris says:

I would like to receive this book because the topic is something everyone can learn from and the authors way of writing was easy to read in this devotional today.

  103. As I began my day today with prayer, I asked God to help me embrace his gifts he has given me and for me to do the best with those gifts. And then I read this devotion–perfect timing (as God’s timing always is!) I have already read Ruth’s book (and loved it!), but today was the extra encouragement I needed to push through the day. Thank you for sharing.

  104. Anne Griffith says:

I would love to win a copy of this book! My goal this year is to be more helpful to my husband in the area of budget and spending. We will be sending two kids to college in the next two years!
    Thank you!

  105. I would love to have a copy of the book.I believe that it would help me and my family so much.

  106. This devotional and book sampler really hit home with me…I love Ruth’s quote “Ultimately, how we spend our money is a direct reflection of what is in our hearts.” I would love to win a copy of this book so I can help not only myself, but my family and friends to also find this joy in living the good life and not be so focused on the worldly stuff!

  107. I have been reading Ruth’s story & her blog. She is an amazing woman and has obviously learned to manage a budget with her large family. My husband and I just started a new budget & would greatly appreciate reading her book.
Thanks for the inspiring article about our sweet spot!

  108. Lynn Snipes says:

Thank you for this reminder that we all have God given talents & passions. I have learned to embrace my individuality as an adult but struggled as any teen to fit in. My prayer is to help my boys find the men they will become in God vs listening to what the workd says.

  109. Everyday the Lord shows me another way to improve and points me in the right direction. I would love to win a copy of this book and see where He leads me next.

  110. Jennifer Hively says:

I would like to win a copy of this book to pass on to my childhood best friend. We’ve recently reconnected and my husband and I are working with her and her hubby on their marriage and walking out their new christian Faith. They were literally on the verge of divorce but have experienced the sweetness of Jesus and have withdrawn their divorce, marriage restored, kids flourishing, etc. I feel they would really benefit from this book.

  111. I do want to find my sweet spot, so that I can really live out my gifts for the glory of God.

  112. I really needed that this morning. Thank you!

  113. An encouragement for sure. My husband was just downsized from his sales position with a national company he loved working for. Although fear is creeping in, as it seems to enjoy doing, this opportunity is for both of us to re-evaluate our sweet spots and really listen for new ways God is calling us to bring His glory into the world. It is allowing us to grow closer together as we do this as a team. Thanks!

  114. Thank you for this encouragement today! It is something that, as I nearly my college graduation in just a few short months I still haven’t found. I’m just trying to keep an open mind and try different things so I can find that ‘sweet spot’ but it can be discouraging sometimes.

I would love to win a copy of the book because, especially as I’m in this last semester, it is something I really want and need to learn. My parents have come on hard financial times (again) and can’t support me as much and I don’t have a job that can do so for me either right now. That being said, I still want to honor God with the little I do make, and I’m really not sure how to best do that.

Thank you again for serving us in this way and God bless!!

  115. I would like to give this book to my girlfriend if I win it. We share different call and passion, I want her to know God’s will is much more important than us. She is a perfectionist, it would be very helpful for her to gain courageous through this book and not afraid to fail. I wish God help us to stand firm by learning from this book.

  116. Good Morning, God’s timing is always perfect.. I would LOVE to win a copy!

    Thank you,
    Hope Elizabeth

  117. I would love to have a copy for my son and daughter-in-law. My son has not had a full time job in over 5 years. He has been going to school. He just graduated and having a hard time finding work. Ashley, my daughter-in-law has held a full time job for them. They have a 19 month old daughter that I watch to help them financially and to build a relationship with her as well. I see they tend to spend not so wisely, or not at all. They need to find a balance. I am hoping that this book will help them do just that and to find a peace with each other.

  118. Like many others, I am so excited for 2015 and making changes to bring my life more in order with what God has for me and my family. Reorganizing many aspects of my life – including my physical home and our household budget – is a big part of that. I think this book would really help me in that.

  119. Tammie Jones says:

I have been looking at this book now since the new year started and contemplated getting it, but didnt know if i was up for another self-help type of book. I now see it is way more….and i would be thrilled to win a copy. I have many, many areas where i need to redirect my thinking.

  120. Right now I am in a cross road of life my military career of 13 years is coming to an end and although I know it is God’s will. I really don’t know what the next chapter brings. I only pray God will provide me a job that I look forward to Mondays and am sad it is Friday. I need to find that sweet spot.

  121. I was just talking to my hubby the other day about how I keep wishing I was good at something and now coming to the realization that maybe that something is not what God has gifted me with! Thank you. This really spoke to me. I would be so blessed if chosen for a copy of Living Well, Spending Less. We are finally clearing the clutter in our lives including the clutter in our finances and your book would be inspiring :)

  122. Dinah Michelle says:

Mind = blown right now! Finding my sweet spot that doesn’t include cake or cookies would be, well, sweeeet! :-) On a serious tip, this would be a much appreciated gift I would like to share with our women’s group at church.

  123. Would love to hear more about loving and how to spend less! Sounds interesting!!!

  124. I would love to win a copy of the book! I want to be free of debt and not live pay check to pay check. As a single mom I’ve struggled with making ends meet and I know that’s not Gods plan for me. Some days I feel so discouraged but I know God wants better for me and my family. Back in May I took my oldest daughter and her baby in as she is going through a divorce at a young age, and I have my other daughter from California staying with me until the summer since her husband is deployed, she just had a baby as well…so I’ve had a lot on me lately and with 6 of us plus 2 babies, we have a house full! I just want to walk in the blessings God has for us this year.

  125. I would love to win a copy of Ruth’s book because my husband and I are working really hard to get out debt under control and paid off in 2015, and it would be really helpful to get insight in how to simplify things while still living a full Christ-filled life. I would also love to give a copy to my sister in-law as she is getting ready to have her second child, and always seems very busy, and I know the finances are tight. It would be a great inspiration as she is still growing in her faith.

  126. Michelle D ONeal says:

Get out of my head! (kidding) But I am at a crossroads, knowing that God is encouraging me to find that “sweet spot” that He has specifically reserved for me. I printed your message and I’m going to spend the day writing my “passions” and my “abilities” to see where they intersect. So excited to see where it leads me.

Most High speak to me through Ruth’s message in Jesus name.

  127. Sonya Dupree says:

Thank You for blessing me with this inspiration today. I’m very interested in reading your book because I thought I was where God wanted me to be…teaching. But although I’m good at it, the passion isn’t really there. I wanted to be a psychologist but life happened and teaching fell into my lap. I use my passion to talk to kids but find time doesn’t allow much of this because teaching gets in the way. Recently I went back to school to become a writer (television and film) and i love it. Now I’m merry about the next move. Is it possible to change careers so late in the game..I’m in my early 40’s. I’m praying for God to direct my path. Blessings to all. Sonya.

  128. I would love to win this. I am looking for vCard a way to live better. I think it could inspire me andv then i would share it with my bff to pay it forward.

  129. Great devotional! I pray that I am a good steward of all that GOD has blessed me with, but I do need to learn to spend less : )

After having all my dreams of a perfect marriage shattered to dust, being exiled to a foreign country with no rights whatsover when I was actually born in the land of the free and the home of the brave, having all my wealth taken from me, I need my mojo and my umph back. And with God, all things are possible! I need this book. :) I need this book and thank you for publishing this amazing article that inspired me to see, there’s a hope and a light at the end of this tunnel. :) x Love, Hannah

But she has the deep down desire to do more and be more, but yet from the outside you’d never recognize it. I struggle as a mom wondering why she’s not putting more of herself “out there”, but after reading today, I know she is; just not the way you or I do.

I hope one day to own a salon like your friend. thanks for the encouragement!

  159. I would love to win this book. My husband and I are new empty nesters and there is a void of time that I need to fill. I think this book would open up ideas and desires to help me figure out what’s next in my life. Thank you for the give away.

  160. The title of this book is right on time we are discussing finance and budgeting in church right now. I’m trying very hard to learn how to be a good steward over my finances and get my party business started. I love to decorate it’s in my soul. I also love God and I know he is working on me spiritually so I can work in his purpose for my life. I would definitely want to share this with the “women at the well” what we call our ladies fellowship group at church. Even if I don’t win. I’m definitely going to buy this book!!!! As a pediatrician, I come across young struggling moms daily. I am excited to read your book so that maybe I can glean some tips to help these ladies along. Thanks for sharing.

  183. This year my one word that I am concentrating is BEST. In everything you doing, do it to your best ability, not a half effort. This book sounds like advice and encouragement to people to give their best, do their best, receive the best by giving God their best with stewardship. I would love to read this book.

  184. O what a great devotion this morning!! I have been mulling around God’s will, gifts, talents, using God given talents to serve God and others. I hope you don’t mind but I have put your prayer on a sticky note and will be praying it in addition to other prayers each day! I hope I win your books but will certainly be looking for your wisdom.
    Peace to you,
    Dawn

  185. Since the birth of my latest blessing I have felt led to stay home with our 3 boys & not return to work. I know God will provide where He leads, but I know we are expected to do our part. I am struggling to adjust our finances and would appreciate the help.

  186. I would love to win this book because I have just graduated college and am currently in a Master’s program, so I feel that I’m at the point in life where decisions I make now will shape my financial future for a while. I want to live outside of the burden of debt, but I need help! I’m a girl and like nice and girly things!

  187. Pray for me. …’Cause I got nothing. I try to do something but I always fail and I’m getting frustrated. I feel like my gift is to just keep to myself and get out of the way of those who are able to do something for the cause of Christ. … (sigh)

  188. I would love to win a copy of the book. I am at a crossroad in my life and I feel I would benefit from a little guidance. It would be nice to learn about finances. 190. Have you ever been at a point in your life where you’ve forgotten how to dream? Where trials have consumed so much of your life that you feel the best you can do is survive? I know God has so much more for me than mere survival. I know He made me for joy. Not just the occasional joy, but a joy-filled life. I’m in my 50s, and I still feel that I haven’t reached that point in my journey where I know…really know…what God’s purpose is for my life. How courageous for Alysha to listen to God’s leading and not deviate. How inspiring!
I would love to read this book and maybe discover how I might escape from my professional prison (otherwise called a job), and find something more fulfilling and generous to do with my life.

  191. I have a friend that knows me better than I know myself, she has been trying to tell me I NEED TO READ this book. Then today’s devotion “Finding Your Sweet Spot”, hit home. You see, I have been REALLY praying and fasting for two weeks for God’s direction in my life. I too, am a hair dresser and had to go through ALOT of struggles to go and make it through beauty school with three small children (no spouse), but I made it. The beauty industry has been my passion, I am really good at it, but 10 years ago I got a “dependable job” (with insurance, benefits, knowing your paycheck, etc) even though I was making the money; and haven’t been happy since, I don’t look forward to going to work, like I do when I was I doing hair full-time. I still do hair in a in-home salon after I get off from my security job, but long to bite the bullet and use my God Given Talents. I have to turn clients away because there isn’t enough time in the day to work them in. Anyways, thanks for being obedient to God. If this has been for NO body else, this was for me.. and I want to say “THANK YOU…
    T

  192. Thanks for this inspiring message. I really need to discover my gifts and talents. I am in a place were I need to make a very important career decision that could impact the lives of my husband, children,me n others. I want to do something that would not hv a negative impact on my duties to my family n something that I would always look forward each n every new day to do. Most
importantly to please God n fulfil His purpose for my life. Thanks again.

  193. I have found Ruth’s wisdom & advice to be relevant in many ways since I started following her blog. I have a sister who is struggling in so many ways that I know would benefit from what Ruth has to share.

  194. I would love to win a copy of this book because I am a newly single mother trying to make ends meet as best I can. Half of my income from my full-time job each month goes towards rent, and half goes towards babysitting for my 2-year-old. Anything else I earn (grocery money, car payment money, etc.) comes from my 2 direct sales jobs on the side or as a gracious gift from my parents. Money is a daily stressor, and I am open to any and every avenue to save more money and lessen that burden. I guess you could say if worrying were a spiritual gift, I would have it. Unfortunately, that’s not my idea of a “sweet” spot. I would love to learn to get a better handle on my finances, so that I can eventually bless others in need and tithe my church.

  195. I would love to read this as on our farm sometimes you have no choice but to spend less and try to be creative. We both work more than full time on our farm. I think it is something as parents we need to teach our children also. As there are so many things these days grabbing their attention and some kids want it all. We have been blessed with wonderful children but we still may be able to teach them skills that will benefit them for life!

  196. I would love to win a copy of your book. I recently moved away from my hometown. The place I’ve lived for 48 years. My husband was relocated. I am on a quest and seeking what God has in store for me. I have gifts and dreams but not sure where God is leading. I feel this book may help me find just where I’m meant to be. God is all knowing and will guide me.

  197. For the past two years I have been attempting to Live Well and SPEND LESS! I follow Ruth’s blog but would love a copy of her book!!!!

  198. I would love to have this book to ready myself and share with grown daughter.

  199. Hi, I love today’s devotion! This book sounds great and if I do not win I do plan to buy a copy hopefully sooner than later. I really need guidance in finding my true calling and mission and I hope this book can be that assistance I need. Thank you for sharing your heart and memories with the body. God Bless!

  200. Would be great to win! Working on getting our finances ‘cleaned up’. This would be a great help! Thanks for the opportunity and the reminder to keep seeking my sweet spot!

  201. Lyn Foster says:

God is so good! He knew exactly what I needed today and this was perfect! I totally bombed out on something I thought I was good at last night and I needed to be reminded that I need to keep going and that failure is part of finding that sweet spot. I am not the loser I was convincing myself I was. I am 45 and have never learned how to manage finances. I really need to learn this to teach my teenage boys valuable lessons before they are out in the world struggling like I always have. I would LOVE to have this book!! Thank you for your dedication to encouraging others!!

  202. Wow! This devotion was exactly the inspiration that I have been needing. I have been struggling to find my “sweet spot” and really prayerful about what that Lord is asking me to do with the gifts He has given me. I am currently unemployed and prayerful about what direction to turn in: “What kind of job will I get?”, “When will I get a job?”, “Should I go to school?”, “What would I study?”, “Lord, how would you like me to go about this?”. I am a few years out of high school and also trying to figure out postsecondary, as I completed a certificate program, but have not pursued studies any further at this time. I am living with my family right now and love being with them. I want to make the most of every opportunity. But, as I grow into an adult, I struggle sometimes with not making an income, or spending money while I don’t have any coming in. It definitely is helping me trust the Lord more deeply for all things. I’ve noticed how I can actually be quite greedy and not want to spend at all sometimes. I have a passion for frugal living, simple living, and spending less. I would love to own “Living Well, Spending Less” by Ruth Soukup to learn from her experience and knowledge in the area of being wise with finances.

  203. Would love to be able to read this book..as a stay-a-home mother of 4, I have often wondered what I could do to help provide for my family on one income..

  204. Cammi Hevener says:

I would love it to read for myself and then to share with a friend!

  205. Linda Cousino says:

I would love to win this book because I feel like I’m on a journey with the Lord, learning about spending and the love of things in my life. The Lord has been working in my life for a few years now about this topic and He is slowly peeling away the unnecessary things in my life but feel like I haven’t got down to the core of what He wants me to know yet. I enjoyed this devotional and would REALLY LIKE finding “my sweet spot”!

  206. I was laid off mid December. It’s hard, but it’s okay, because I have come to realize how miserable I had become in my “perfect” career. I’m 5 yrs short of full retirement age. I am now seeking, praying for guidance to find that “sweet spot”. I honestly don’t even know what my dreams are, I am also questioning my abilities. Our current budget is in shreds. I know Jesus still has me on earth for a purpose. I’m searching for that purpose, and trying to keep our finances intact at the same time. So, the book would definitely be for me to get back on track.

  207. I loved the devotional. Very fitting for today as I’m investigating new job opportunities. If I won this book, I’d give it to my friends who are living on his police officer’s salary and have two small boys. It would be great to help them out and managing their money.

  208. Wendy Morrison says:

Thank you for sharing your inspiration abd wisdom about finding my sweet spot today. I would love to learn more about learning how to be content through this book. God bless you for your courafe to write for Him.

  209. Marsha Geist says:

Thank you for your devotional. I want to be a better steward of my finances so that I will have more to give to help others.

  210. Deirdre Jones says:

This devotion is right on time with what I am focusing on in my life now. I am in a season that calls for me to find my purpose and live it out with complete zest. I am so excited that God has placed me in this position. Im looking forward to finding the call on my life so that I can serve God by fulfilling it. Winning this book would be awesome to serve as a tool to help me uncover the purpose I am here to fulfill. I hope you will consider me!

  211. Stephanie T. says:

I truly enjoyed the devotional for today and would love to win a copy of the book. I am a nurse who just recently received a Ph.D in nursing education yet I still struggle with finding my “gift” and/or purpose in life. I have been searching and trying to receive an understanding for years. I love caring for others and teaching; however I still do not feel complete. I believe this book will help me in my journey to discovering the true/real “me”

  212. Thank you for this post. It really spoke to my heart! I would love a chance to read your book! Bless you!

  213. Virginia Calderon says:

in my Bible study this morning one of the things I was led to was this, living more on purpose for God, using my gifts and thinking about what my gifts are and growing them. I realized they didn’t need to include fireworks and also that not being focused on Him, but on myself and me weaknesses deterred his using me. As scared as it makes me I asked him to grow me, make my roots deep and to show me how to serve him with my gifts. I am an organizational, financial mess, and I have been asking him to help me in these areas also, so my focus won’t be here but on Him and his kingdom. I hope this book will be one tool he uses to guide me. I love how he speaks the same things to me through different sources until I get it. I am so thankful He is faithful.

  214. I love reading Ruth’s tips she posts on Facebook. I truly believe this is the way to live. I would give the book to my daughter in law as they seem to struggle with their finances. Thank you!!!

  215. Cathy Burnett says:

Hi! Beginning with the first of the year, my husband and I have been discussing ways we can cut down on our spending and try to live frugally. This book would be a great inspiration for me since I am an avid reader. Thank you for the generous giveaway. I sure hope I win!

  216. How funny – I think I saw this book on the shelf at Target last night…? Story: At what seemed to be the Lord’s prompting, I recently left my job to come back to the home, take better care of my family, and try to find my “sweet spot” with my writing. Within weeks of resigning, my husband lost his job as well. Panic? Yep. But we have found our place of trust and are believing he will find work soon! In the meantime, with him only having odd jobs, we are learning to survive on nearly no income, instead of one as we had anticipated. I am pretty sure the book Living Well, Spending Less would be a huge help for us. :)

  217. Melissa Passini says:

I soooo need this book. I used to be AWESOME at stretching every dollar. But somehow, asy financial situation got better, I lost that ability. Now, I want to be able to give more to the people and organizations that mean the most to me. I need help!! This sounds like something that could really help get me back on track. Thank you!

  218. Lisa Little says:

I’ve always wondered in life how people knew what “Their G-d given talent was”, besides knowing the could sing or paint or be a preacher. I’ve asked how do you know what it is. They always have a mundane reply, you just know or I fell into it. I would love guidance to know what my sweet spot is so I can utilize that to be. To live a fuller life. To move forward with G-d’s plan for me.

As always thank you for being part of the daily devotions I receive. They start my day off right!

  219. I would love to win a copy ( I have 3 kinds to put through college!) and review it ( I have a book blog!)…Thanks for the chance!!

  220. Lisa Johnson says:

I have been blessed with many gifts and talents. It’s my desire to do the will of God and follow his plan. This book

  221. Jodie McGuire says:

I would love to win a copy of this book, I am separating from my husband and we’ve both always been awful with saving money. Icould use the help especially now that I’ll have a “fresh start” and will be on my own.

  222. Liz Coulombe says:

Work, clean, laundry, cook…dencourage run into weeks, weeks run into years. I ponder in the early morning, what should I be doing for the kingdom? The day gets going and I am off to the same thing routine of the above.
Reading your message today is encouraging and one that I will reread today. Thank you for sharing.

  223. Leah LaRosa says:

I love to shop. I have friends who love to shop. I would love to learn what it means to save and live well.

  224. I am today just changing my career path. I am looking at less money but to keep m y family surviving. What a great blog to touch me the same day I am changing my life.

  225. Evelyn Padin says:

I am hardly ever compelled to comment as to what my “sweet spot” is because I am 59, feeling more like 90 some days and when I get this joy to seek it, even now, it disappears almost as easily as it arrived. I have many talents which God gave me to choose from and I have loved and done quite a bit with most of them. There is always the “one” which eludes me. I want to write music. The music comes to me, I hum the song, and it’s so free-flowing. God loves my music because I can feel it coming from Him, yet I let Him down in not pursuing this one talent He gave me and I never used. I have to pray on this and ask Jesus to open that door… He will do so. I know it. Please pray for me to give me strength to walk through it. Encouragement. I need that. Thank you.

  226. I have been walking 41 years with The Lord and know my Spiritual gifts, however I wonder if I will ever really find the sweet spot God has for me. I look back and see times God has used me and then also the times I feel the enemy has squashed me just as I begin to move in a certain area of ministering to others. This is most likely the way being a warrior for The Lord works. It is very devastating however. I yearn to find God’s direction and pursue it with the Passion within! Love your article!

  227. I would love to read more from Ruth, I am a single mom and really need to get my finances in order.

  228. I really enjoyed this blog post and would love to read more on this topic.

  229. We have had a lot of set backs this past year. We had a house fire, husband was laid off his job, and multiple medical difficulties with our family. It has been a struggle, but God has been there for us the whole way! I would like this book to help us make some good financial decisions to help us thru these tough times. Praying the book will also point us to a more meaningful life as we focus on what God would have us do next.

  230. I would love to win a copy of this book. Four years ago my husband felt led to quit a very powerful job to pursue his own business, one that he could also use as a ministry. The Lord has blessed us, we were prepared, but this last year has been VERY lean! I’m very frugal by nature, so I’ve been able to stretch things to the limit, but lately I’ve just felt like a failure and want to do more and I think this would be a way for me to learn some new tricks that I don’t know.
    Thanks,
    Tammy

  231. I think I know where my sweet spot is but I’d like to know more about how to use it in a way that honors God most this book sounds like it would help me get there

  232. Would love a copy of your book! I am determined to start saving this year and this would help greatly.

  233. Romans 12 has been my go-to verse for years now. We have so many different gifts, and not all gifts are the same. I am so thankful for the gift of encouragement that the Lord has blessed me in. I have so much passion for motiviating people and leading people to love. I want to change the way people think about themselves, and teach them to love themselves. I also realized I did most of that encouraging when I was coaching field hockey. I enjoyed seeing the girls do well and motivating them to be the best they can. When I played field hockey, everyone always looked for me for motivation. My coach always commended me on my spirit. I know where my heart is. I eventually want to open my own field hockey studio when athletes can workout and train. I just don’t know how to, and I am scared that it wont work out because I may not be that good at it.
Reflecting back on Romans 12, I know that God will always have my back, I just have to fix my eyes on Him because I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. The devil is a liar.

Lord please help me to see myself the way you see me. Please allow me today and moving forward to pursue my dreams. You did not give us the spirit of fear, Lord, for that is only from the devil that tries to scare us. Help me to recognize my talents and abilities, Lord. Allow me to get through the failures while always remembering that each one is a lesson. I love you, Lord. Please guide my steps, be the lamp to my feet.
    In Jesus Name, Amen

  234. Wendy Bauder says:

I also believe this book would have many key points that would show me various points to living within my means.

  243. Starting over after divorce is really hard. I could use your inspiration to kick start a new beginning. I hope an old dog can learn new tricks!!

  244. In the past couple of years I have been convicted of ‘too much stuff’. Our society creates a peer pressure to obtain the latest and best of everything. I do believe our world has lost focus on what is truly important-our relationship with Christ. Stuff is getting in the way. I am a pastor’s wife and would love to have the book for me and as a resource for others.

  245. Taking help to do family finances in a Christian way is exactly the goal I have for 2015. Love the help to succeed

  246. Michelle M says:

I would love a copy of this book. I am a mother of 3 daughters who was blessed to be a stay at home mom for 14 years. I had to go back to work when my husband lost his business and my life definitely feels chaotic. I am hoping this book can help me sort out some of these emotions and issues I face now as a full time working parent. I truly miss being a “stay at home” mom and struggle to balance this new life style and feel somehow along the way I have lost what my true purpose is.

  247. I would love to win a copy of your book! I am prayerfully searching God”s leading on our finances, and believe this book will ne more than helpful. Thank you!

  251. I’d love to win a copy of this book!! I’m constantly searching for ways to better myself for my family! We have adopted two children, and are waiting to see if God blesses our family with two more in Feb! This book would be useful to apply to our busy, God-centered life!!
    Thanks!

  252. Natalie Jewell says:

I would love to win this boom because I’m trying to learn how to be content with my life. I would like to trust in The Lord and stop getting comfort in stuff b

  253. Teri Baumann says:

This was a good devotion to remind me not to be jealous of the gifts I see in others, but to seek God about my own gifts and to work hard at developing them. He loves me even if I feel I am not affecting thousands for Christ. He is pleased with me if am faithful to what He has called me to do, in my small phere of influence — my family, friends, small church and small town. The Kingdom of God is built with one soul at a time.

  254. I would love to have a copy of this book. I am searching for ways to better honor Christ and welcome any tool or resource that helps in that goal.

  255. Belinda Perez says:

I am recently retired and a full time stay at home mom to two children I adopted. This book would greatly enrich my knowledge on how to manage my money better now that I don’t make a much as before. I would love this book so I can learn more in this area so that I can be all I can be, first of all to God, then to my children and family. Thank you.

  256. Rebekah DeRuiter says:

I would enjoy winning a copy of this book because it’d be cool to win a prize but more importantly because I want to know what my “sweet spot” is! I want to learn how to spend wisely and give freely to all that God has to offer me. I’d love to also be able to share this book with friends and family looking to find out what God has to offer them too!

  257. LOVE LOVE LOVE this website! You inspire me daily! Please keep up the great work!

  258. What an amazing article!! Thank you!

  261. Kizmin Jones says:

This devotion spoke directly to me today. Thank you for allowing God to use you to write this! I have felt like Peter Parker for the longest. Knowing that I have this talent and ability that can do great things in the world but no one knows me for me. They just see me is “Peter Parker” the delivery person, or the menial task setter. First I need to see that my talents are important even if they seem menial. Secondly, I need to pray that God directs me to that Sweet Spot were I can manifest all of the things He has in store for me through my passions and abilities!
    Thanks again for the reminder!
    KJ

  262. I would love to win a copy of the book. As a new mom I’m finding the expenses of childcare etc… to be a challenge for our budget. We have done Dave Ramsey and try to live strictly within our means but balancing money needs and time with the baby makes that difficult at times.

  263. I recently retired. I am still trying to find my sweet spot in this new phase in my life.

  264. Live as children of light, (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Ephesians 5: 8 – 10
This is my verse for the new year and I would love the book to learn more ways to not overspend and walk in the light with our finances

  265. I would love to win this book. I have a friend who has a cancer which cannot be cured. I am watching her live on almost nothing, if I could give her some of my money to help her that would be a blessing. We have a smaller group of women who share books this would be a good share.

  266. I have really been searching to find that something that it is my calling….and I want to be obedient to God in whatever that may look like. I am all about living a simpler life – without all the “things”…sounds like I would love this book. Thank you for today’s message!!

  267. Christina Walston says:

I would love to win this book because I believe it could help me to manage my small monthly income better. That would be great! My husband and I struggle every month to make ends meet. We could use any help we can get.

  268. I would love to receive this book because we recently had a huge life change! We moved across the country and started new jobs! New schools for our girls and I would love to just have some encouragement to continue on our journey! Thanks!

  269. My goodness! What a timely devotion! I have spent much time lately praying about this very topic. For years, and by years I really mean decades, I have denied my passion to see, to write about, to study, and to photograph the beauty of the world and God’s hand in it. The seed was planted in me to do all of those things when I was a very little girl, and I ignored the calling. Truly, I know that my sweet spot is being revealed to me through prayer and through meditation on that quiet, yet powerful, voice of God’s guidance. He has opened both my heart and my eyes to my truest calling: to show His magnificence in nature and in the world at large through writing and photography. It has taken me a long time to sit still and listen to His voice, but I firmly believe that when we employ the patience and the willingness to listen, our sweet spot will be revealed. Thank you for your words and for the most timely of devotions!

  270. First let me say Thank you for the opportunity to win your book. I myself would like to win a copy, to rediscover what my sweet spot is now that my two sons are older. As a stay at home mom for over 20 years, I am needing to rediscover that sweet spot the Lord wants me to utilize now for His glory.

Thank you and Blessings to you all~

  271. cathleen rafalko says:

I have given up my career to raise my children to love and follow Christ… I would keep the copy for myself and then pass it on to my church library. Thanks for your work on this blog! It encourages me in my daily walk of parenting, marriage and this crazy life journey in a mixed up world…

  272. I want this book because I lost my job unexpectedly yesterday. I am a single mom of 3 girls. Your devotion this morning affirmed that God has a plan to bring about good from this mess.

  273. Kathy Mercer says:

I really enjoyed reading your devotion today. It’s always a good reminder that God has given each of us a special gift and we are to use our gifts to glorify Him. I would love a copy of your book because I am always looking for practical ways to spend less and be happy with what we have.

  274. I know that God wants us to be in control in every area of our life. I know this book would give me some biblical principles to help me spend less. I am praying about retiring and this book would really be a great tool in my decision-making process. Thanks for sharing your love of Christ with us; it is very much appreciated. Fortunately, I have found that my ‘sweet spot’ is encouraging others and giving! When I’m living in my sweet spot, I feel so in the zone and close to God. As an encourager, I really encourage all to pray and sincerely seek your sweet spot. It is awesome when you KNOW who you are in Christ!!

  275. I never pass up an opportunity to try to improve my walk in God’s will.

  276. I never pass up an opportunity to improve my walk closer to God’s will.

  277. I am almost at my sweet spot. The only thing missing is my husband working along side me and Lord willing, we will take the plunge THIS year and he will join me. Working for himself has been his dream since before he met me over 20 years ago. It was just in the past 4 years that he started dreaming about it again and his dream became our dream. And all along, God was laying it all out before us. It is amazing to look back at the closed and open doors, the prayers, and even the heartaches, that have brought us to this point. We are so excited and nervous at the same time, as he will be leaving a well paying, “secure” job with benefits to step out in faith. We have no doubt this is what God has for us and have so much peace about it. We can’t wait to see what He is going to do. Another passion I have (which lines up with what I do) is helping others with their finances (there was a time early in our marriage when we struggled with finances, which God used to teach us some hard but very worthy lessons). One way is I teach/facilitate the Dave Ramsey class for high school students. We homeschool and I wanted my son to take the class so I invited some other homeschoolers to join us. I also help people/couples one on one as the Lord leads. Personal and business finance is my passion and I am so thankful The Lord has given me the ability to do this. What an awesome God we serve!

  278. T. Crawford says:

Last year, my husband’s mother passed just four years after lossing his dad. We took in his sister with down syndrome and we have been in transition since. We are trying to manage everything that’s on our plates including the huge amounts of student loan debt because we want to start our own family and be homeowners. I’m really working on being a better steward over what God has placed us in charge over. It’s very difficult at times because my husband and I are newly weds married less than three years ago and we feel life changed for us instantly once his mom passed. We have no family where we live which makes it tougher b/c we are far away from where our families are. So I think this book will help me learn to live well in the mist of the challenges we face without the extra spending. Currently, we find it difficult since we are caring for my sister-in-law to enjoy small things like we used to i.e. game nights, cooking, etc.. We are currently going out to try to get her active and help with the transition by doing things she was used to doing (bowling, out-to-eat, shopping), but it’s draining resources that could be used to help us become debt free. I enjoyed this article today and hope that I can win a copy of the book! Thank you.

  279. I loved your devotional today! I would love to read your book and allow God to work in my life in this way.

  280. My friend an I have been on the phone more frequently than normal. Our marriages are being attacked daily and we are struggling to know how to fix this. But we are fully aware that it is not for us to fix. We are called to be living well in the Lord and his promises and spending less time in figuring out how to fix our guys. WE both are praying and petitioning God to change what needs changed in us. To open the doors He wants us to walk through and to take the steps of faith He may call us to. May God be ever present in us as we decrease so He may increase in us. Love this website and the ladies who are diligent in their sweet spots. God bless

  281. I find myself struggling to figure out what I should be doing. I have pigeon holed myself in a career that I no longer find rewarding. I started exploring what I thought I would really love to do last night, only to find out that I am no where close to being able to do it. I feel disheartened and I am turning to God to find out what he wants me to do. My current job is completely unpredictable and I want something with normal hours so that I have weekends to spend with my family. I want to not have the success or failure of something completely dependent on me. I am beyond frustrated as I have been looking for a new job for over a year, but nothing seems right.

Please pray for me to find something new that is not going to require me to lay out all kinds of expenses in order to get the job.

  282. This book sounds like something I could really learn from. I got into some debt after going through a tough divorce and it seems like no matter what I do I just can’t seem to get ahead. This book would hopefully give me some ideas to try and do better not only for me financially but also help me do it while also serving the Lord. I know I would have never gotten to where I’m at without Him.

  283. I would read your book and then I have a list of people that would read it and pass it along to the next person on the list. Thank you.

  284. Melissa Selby says:

This devotional spoke right to my heart. I feel the Lord leading me, but only a couple of weeks of ago He closed the door to the direction I felt He was calling me. So…I continue to hone my talents and trust Him to show me that next door behind which His will lies. I would very much like to have a copy of your book. It sounds like it’s exactly what I need at this point in my journey!

  285. I loved this article. I have been searching for my purpose and “sweet spot” for a while now. Though, recently, I’ve just settled back into life, not really searching, as I’m a mother of one. But I can’t wait until God reveals it to me with clarity. I have too many directions I’d love to go, but only want to pick one. And i don’t want to fail. Maybe that’s my problem. Anyway, I would also love this book, as we have been working hard to try to live as simply as possible just to get by.

  286. I loved the devotional. I would like to share the book with my husband in hopes that we could be on the same page regarding spending.

  287. Nancy Barfield says:

I would love to win a copy to share with a neighbor who is going through a terrible time right now, struggling week-to-week financially, as well as personally!

  292. Jana Lee Miskovsky says:

If I won a copy of this book, I would first read it myself. I would then use one of the gifts God gave me and share this book with someone else. Please pray for me and my family to keep discovering our gifts and the depths of our gifts from God and to apply them in the most effective way. Amen.

  293. I would love to read and share this book. We have been unemployed for a couple of months and have simplified our lives in many ways. Not easy, but God is leading & teaching us through it all.

  300. I would love to have this book to help me with my spending and becoming the woman God wants be to be in this area of my life.

  301. I would appreciate a copy of this book as I have put myself on a real budget this year. I even brought my cable/phone/internet bill down from $175 per month to $38!! I don’t miss the extra cable at all, or the landline! I am so empowered by this that I am looking to make even more money-saving decisions. Thanks!

  302. I need to get a control on my spending. Thank you for your devotion.

  303. Hello, I felt that the message today spoke exactly to me but after reading many of the comments above I realize it speaks to women of all ages and in all types of situations. I spent the last two decades preoccupied with raising my two sons and getting them through college and then I put myself through college. I am still working full time and will continue to do so but I feel that I have gifts and talents that I am not using and am trying to figure out what I need to be doing for HIM and where my “sweet spot it is.” I would also love to be able to give to more charities and hopefully this book will show me how I can spend less so that I can give more. Thank you for your ministry!!

  304. I would like to win a copy because I am an Licensed Practical Nurse. I tried this year to do the bridge over to the Register Nurse and failed by 1 point which then left me feeling like, am I suppose to try again or do I be content with what I am. Ether way I know GOD can use me. I just want to be the best I can be for the work of his kingdom and right now I am confused as what direction to go. This book sounds like it could get my thinking more in line.

  305. I would love a copy of this book to help me to realize my worth and draw closer to God.

  306. I have 3 lovely granddaughters that I had the privilege of raising. They are now 22, 21 and 19. I think it’s the perfect time in their life to find their sweet spot and serve God in their talents He has blessed them with. This book would encourage them along the way. Thank you!

  307. I had JUST finished praying and asking God for direction and confidence regarding a career choice when I then read this devotion. It couldn’t have been more timely. THANK YOU!

  308. The book sounds intriguing and we live on a tight budget, so I would love to win one. This post was very inspiring. Despite our age, we can still pursue our dreams and glorify the Lord.

  309. Elizabeth May says:

I would love to have a copy of this book! I love the devotion today. It spoke volumes to me! I would enjoy reading more by this author.

  310. Thank you for being obedient to write such a book.I believe we all need more information in this area of our lives. Today’s message is something I work hard to find. I know I’m a server, but sometimes I don’t have the passion.

  311. Hello, I think it’s wonderful that you are giving away copies of your book. I’m single and I’m struggling with debt. I’ve borrowed from my 401 to pay down some of the debt. I want to know how to stop this vicious cycle I keep putting myself into. My parents do not know what my debt is. I hear them complaining about friends whose adult children have borrowed money and don’t pay them back. I don’t want to be another story like the ones they hear. I got into this mess and I want to get out. I’m hoping your book will help me.

  312. Susie Lovett says:

I would love to win a book.

  313. Michelle Watts says:

I would love this book because I struggle with figuring out what talents I have been given. Also struggle with the talents of others.

  314. I would very much like a copy of this book to help me through the struggles life has put before me in this last few months. I am always hopeful and trying to do more of what God wants me to be doing.

  315. Jane Hamilton says:

I just found your blog yesterday and reading about your “sweet spots” touched my heart. Our family had a dramitizing 2014. It has really tested my faith and my love for God. I find myself praying harder for my family everyday. Our life has changed but God is always there with me to see me through each and everyday and to be there for all my family. This book would help me to find if I’m where God wants me to be and giving the way that He needs me to, at this time in my life. I would past this book on to my grand daughter, who is in college, who is so devoted and has accomplished so much due to her ongoing dedication and hard work. She always finds time for work and for her family and study long hours to accomplish her goals. As you can see, I’m am so proud of her. I believe this book would help her to make sure she is on the right track where God has planned for her life. I thank you very much and God Bless!

  316. Jenny Sebring says:

GOD IS SOOOO GOOD!!! Your post today about The Sweet Spot is “spot” on!!
I had a HORRIBLE day yesterday. (Mentally, emotionally) But I ALWAYS cling to, “His Mercies Are NEW EVERY Morning!”
So this morning I just read this post.
This “Sweet Spot” is exactly what I was sharing with my therapy group yesterday. I’m going into a new chapter. Four kids, 5, 7, 9, & 11. The oldest with some special needs. And myself with ADD, Anxiety & Depression. Then my husband; (polar opposite) – focused, driven, successful, organized, efficient – ALL the things I AM NOT; is pressuring me to figure out “where I am going to work in the next couple years?” And it needs to make money. He wants to “retire” in 13 years. (Once the youngest graduates high school.)
So I’m praying through my husband’s goals, dreams. I’m asking God to help me figure out what right now looks to me as impossible. I’m asking God to work his miracles in both of us to bring us to the same page eventually. And I’m asking God to guide me and give me clarity and confidence in who and where he wants me to be in the next few years. From my husband I always feel pressure to be his list of gifts. But I’m praying that God can help me to go through this process with Him and help me to see where I can be my best self, glorifying Him and being successful in MY own way.
Thank you so much for your post today!
I would love to have the book! A main theme and conviction I feel God is telling me is to simplify and for sure spend less money.
Thank you for living in your sweet spot and sharing your talents to minister to all of us!

  317. Susan Gatts says:

I have been married for 17 years and my over spending has been an ongoing problem in our marriage. Finally, through counseling, I realized that my over spending was a direct result of feeling inadequate as a child. My father left right after my youngest brother was born for another woman. I was so hurt and the hurt turned to anger and negative feelings about myself. I had no idea! Anyway, I forgave my father, I mean REALLY forgave him a couple years ago. Since then I do not have the drive and NEED to spend just to spend but I keep getting caught up in the little things for us and for our kids. Death by a thousand cuts/nickel and diming…is what I feel like I’m doing. I would love some guidance and tips on how to minimize my spending to help my family get more on track. Thank you so much for your time and talents!

  318. I’d love to have a copy of this book to share with a working mom’s group that I’m trying to start at my church. We’ll be having lunches together on our work breaks, and we are trying to decide what books, studies or other formats for discussion we’ll use. This would be a great way for me to have a resource to use.

  319. This post spoke directly to me! I really needed to be reminded that the Lord is always with me and giving me strength to continue on!! I would love to have this book!! I am a nursing student with a husband and two kids and money is tight right now while I am in school. Would love to read this book to get some helpful money saving tips!! Thank you.

  320. Lynne Themelaras says:

Finding your sweet spot really spoke to me. I’m a part of a 4 persons pastoral team and I often feel like I’m the one with little to give. I’m typically behind the scene looking up on stage watching the others lead the people. It’s so Refreshing to be reminded that even if I don’t have the platform gifts what I have to offer still matters.

  321. Thanks for this today. My husband and I have to decide this week if we should sell our family business, basically walking away with no paycheck, and start something new that we know is our “sweet spot”…finances will be a challenge and our lifestyle will change. This devotional was a huge encouragement to me today. Thanks!

  322. Minnie Ross says:

I would love to win this book. Thank you in advance.

  323. I would like a copy of this book because I struggle with finding what or If I have a sweet spot. I want to find my true gift and stop struggling by forcing behaviors or action. It would be nice to read some more encouragement that we all have a gift and purpose, so use it.

  324. Grace Crapitto says:

I would absolutely love to read this book. I have always questioned if I have discovered my God given talents and desperately want to know, so if not, I can begin using the ones He wants me to use to His Glory.

  325. Starting the New Year with a new job and I know I am being given an opportunity to use my gifts! I can always use guidance, encouragement and ideas on improving how I live my life. Living to be an example for my two daughters who are high school and college students and soon to be on their own. This book I know would be a great help for both of them, as well as, myself!

  326. Sandra Hunt says:

I would like a copy of the book for myself so that I can study the book and then share it with others in form of a small group or as a topic to present to others. I believe in sharing the knowledge that God provides to me, then I can spread that knowledge with the hope that those it is shared with will do the same.

  327. I would love to win a copy of this book, because I want to find my sweet spot; in my home, in my church, in my community. This devotional was very encouraging! This is something I’ve been burdened about and praying about. Also, my husband and I recently took part in a Financial Peace class and we are trying to learn to follow a budget. We have had a very difficult last three years and we’re trying to trust in the Lord for our finances and our family. I want my children to have nice things, obviously, but I also don’t want them to get caught up in the idea that having things is all that matters. Thank you!

  328. What a great article! Loved it! I think I am guilty of sometimes wanting to force my “talent” or “gift” to be something that God really may not want me focusing on?? I pray that I might be exactly where He wants me to be and that I’ll allow Him to use me!
I’d love to win this book to try and get our finances in order and priorities in line.

  329. Hi Ruth,

This devotion resonated in my soul so much this morning. I am still pursuing God, His purposes, and plans for my life. Finding my sweet spot hasn’t been easy, and I have such a fear of failure that often satan convinces me to stop pursuing certain areas and dreams before they even get started. I am a stay at home mom who occasional substitute teaches and even though that is an amazing blessing, I feel like I was created to do more for the Lord. He has put desires to work in overseas missions in my heart when I was just a teenager, but I’m still waiting on his perfect timing. Thank you for this timely devotion. It was exactly what God knew I needed to hear.

Also, it would be such a blessing to receive your book. I feel like we live fairly frugally and budget minded right now, but I would love to read your suggestions as to ways we could spend less. Blessings to you and your ministry.

  330. This devotional spoke to me. Our pastor recently preached a series on spiritual gifts and I’ve done some searching to pinpoint mine. If like to study further to see how to use them more in daily life.

  331. Sherry Fraunfelter says:

I’d love to win a copy of this book because I am nearing retirement and I really need to spend less so I can retire and this sounds like exactly what I need.

  332. This devotion was such a blessing to me, thank you for sharing. I would really appreciate getting a copy of the book. We have committed to being more purposed in our saving and continually growing in better stewardship. I think this would be a great resource for that! God bless you for your diligence to do what God saved you to do in your own sweet spot.

  333. Thank you for this article. I would love to win this book to use as I try to manage my family of six on a tight budget. I also try to share all that I learn through these outside resources with our teens and young ladies in our church ministry.

  334. I just plain and simple need help with keeping and staying on budget. I want to do things God’s way.

  335. I’m facing my 50th birthday, my hubby’s retirement from 28 years of military service, and our 31st wedding anniversary this summer. I would love to discover this “sweet spot” before any more of my 6 kids get married, and before grandbaby #5 arrives…tho’ jus’ bein’ ” Grannie” would suit me just fine…

  336. I would love to win one of these books to leave as a legacy to my daughter & daughter-in-love…then to my two granddaughters. I am 65 now and have found God’s place for me in my life and have been exercising it for years. But with my family members living far away, I would love for them to read this book and discover what gifts and talents the Lord has given them. And keep passing on the Biblical concept to each generation. Thank you, Ruth, for your generous offer.

  337. Loved this story – faith & perseverance wins again.
I need this book to make a change in 2015. I’m a single parent w/ a teenage daughter & I’m tired of living short all of the time. Thank you for this opportunity to turn it around.

  338. I would love to win this book.

  339. I would love to win a copy of this book. My husband and I are purchasing a home and I want to be able to live within our means.

  340. I would LOVE to win a copy of this book to give to a friend of mine, whom is a therapist.
I am always giving her my reviews of my latest Proverbs 31 Ministries books during our MOPS meetings.

I own a copy of this book already, although I have not finished reading it yet. It is fantastic!!!

The story above reminds me of my best-friend since 6th grade, Kelley. Kelley works as a domestic violence victim advocate, a noble profession, but her sweet-spot is photo-journalism. Kelley will be borrowing my book and I would like Jennifer (therapist) to have one for her patients to check-out.

  341. Awesome devo . . . .I will continue to search for my sweet spot. Sooooooo looking forward to winning a copy of
this amazing book. Certainly can gain much by way of reading and sharing same.
    Thanks for affording the opportunity!

  342. Thank you Ruth!

This is something I really needed to be reminded of and to reflect on today! I am a college student studying to be an elementary school teacher and have really struggled with the fear of failing. I am starting to take classes this year where I get to be teaching in front of students not just teaching peers. I have been really scared and not sure I could ever be an effective teacher. Thank you for your encouragement and sharing God’s truth.

    With love,
    Shannon

  343. I quit my job of 12 years but have not spent or saved wisely. Started FPU last night and am looking at going back to school as a 35 year old mother of twins. During this time my focus will be to stay in the word, do daily devotionals and focus our financials. I am looking for any guidance, prayer and support during this period. Thank you for your diligence and commitment to serving God and God’s daughters.

  344. Christina Depew says:

I have a dear friend whose motto is “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!” I’d love to read this book and then share it with her, to encourage us both in this new year! Thank you!

  345. I would like to win a copy of her book because I am trying to simplify my life.

Great devotion as I am leaving on a missions trip with my daughter, her passion is missions and I have been wondering what my purpose is on the trip so the devotion really hit home.

  346. Wow I would love to win this book. I am 47 years old and getting married for the first time. I have some health issues that prevents me from working and I’m trying to get disability. I have a thirst to learn to be more frugal.

  347. Minu Samson says:

Whether I win this book or not this is going to be the next book on my list to read. I am always looking for guidance to help me with organization in my home life and budgeting help. I’ve been looking at it not through God helping me with it. It was yet another thing I thought I could do on my own and I didn’t need the Lord’s help. I feel like this book would help open my eyes and see it in a whole other perspective, through God! :)

  348. This devotional has really hit home for me today. I am 26 years old and I am looking for my sweet spot. I have started school several times in hopes of FINALLY being able to start my career, but half way down the road I realize that whatever career path I am traveling down is not my calling. I have this voice inside of me telling me that I need to do something that matters, something that will make a difference, something that will help me fulfill my purpose here on earth. I don’t know what GOD has in store for me, but I know that there is something that is greater than myself. It scares me though. What if I miss my boat? I know that I cannot worry about the future and GOD’s plan will be revealed in time. I do worry that I need to decide on something because I need to contribute to my family financially and lord forbid if something ever happened to my husband I NEED to be able to provide for my daughter. I just pray that GOD guides my way and that whatever it is that I end up pursuing will do nothing less that honor and glorify him.

I would love to win the book. I definitely think that it could be very beneficial for my current financial situation being a stay at home mommy and student.

    Blessings~

  349. Wimpy Winters says:

I need this book to help me learn how to spend wisely and save. I have been unemployed since April. I’ve been an LPN for 30yrs and not at age 56 I’m unemployed and living off someone else. If I had managed right I would be able to retire . As it stands I now have to work until age 60. Its hard to find a job at age 60.

  350. I’ll be honest, I would like to win this for myself. I can get the spending less part of life, but I want to live life well in all aspects. Still searching out that sweet spot. I know there is a place where all I have been through, all I have worked for, and all that God has planned meets.

  351. I would love to win this book – for myself and to share with a young, single mother who attends our church. I’d like to help her (as well as the other young people in the youth/young adult class) avoid many of the mistakes and pitfalls I/we made up to this point. Thanks & God bless!

  352. I would like to win this book because it’s been a tough road to declutter and empty my house of “stuff”. I would really like to get into the space where there’s breathing room in all areas of my life.

  353. Would love to have this book! Who wouldn’t want to live well & spend less!!

    Blessings,
    Janet

  354. My husband I are recently retired. We purchased a home and two days later had to replace the HVAC a unit. Needed an electrician Monday. Expenses we didn’t count on, which have wreaked havoc on our budget. Need to stretch our money as far as it can go now.

  355. Brenda Jackson says:

We need devotionals that show us how to apply the bible to the situations of every day life that we face all the time. I would love to have this devotional. Will probably give it away to someone if the Lord leads me that way. Have give away the last two that I was given so nothing new @! Prosperous New Year!!!!

  356. Would like to share with my daughter!

  357. Carmi Henderson says:

Enjoyed this post today. I think I am still searching for my sweet spot and this made me want to think about it more than just doing what I have always done. Thank you!

  358. I would love to win a copy for myself then pass it along to my sister.

  359. I would like this book because I started budgeting for my family three months ago, yet feel biblical guidance is missing from this process. The book would complement what I”m doing for my family, giving me the so-important Christian practical wisdom that I need to be a better mom and CFO of our family. :)

  360. This post was exciting words of encouragement. I am still searching for my sweet spot and this post makes me believe that it’s never too late to find it and exist joyfully in it. Thanks!

  361. Much like your friend, Alysha, my daughter has had to fight for everything. She had recently graduated college and has gotten a job for which we are all so grateful. However, she is learning that her paycheck and the cost of living are not always the same. I think this book would help her as well as encourage her in many ways. Thank you for the opportunity.

  362. Thank you for this devotion today! It is amazing how Proverbs 31 has changed my view and made me a better person for the glory of God! I would like this book because it sounds like the perfect book for me to explore more into my abilities for God’s glory.

  363. Thank you for these words today – helps me continue to focus on how God has brought me through many obstacles & challenges to this current place, on this journey ultimately to His place. Thank you.

  364. I would absolutely love to win this book. I would use it myself because I definitely need to learn to spend wisely. I am over $6,000 dollars in debt, partially due to spending, partially due to health insurance costs, but as a spending addict with no money to spend on things I think I need or wish I had, I could use the book to help learn new and healthy habits. I would then pass on the book to a friend who is limited to social security disability and her husband’s paycheck to cover rent, food, and rising medical costs. This book would be a Godsend for both of us.

  365. Needed this encouragement today……

  366. When I read the description for your book “Living Well Spending Less”, I answered yes to every question. I am 57 years old and lost my job of 32 years three years ago. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent two lumpectomies and radiation. Last June, the cancer had returned. In late August, I underwent a complete hysterectomy followed six days later by a mastectomy with a diep flap. I am undergoing further reconstructive surgery next month. During all of this, I firmly believe that God is preparing me for something. I have prayed, read my bible and talked to pastors and found encouragement and support. Still, I struggle with being at this stage of my life and feeling like I wish I would have taken a different path when I was younger. I feel unfulfilled and as though I am existing, not living. I do believe that I have a purpose, but struggle with what that could be and how to find it. Am I too old to do change paths? With the loss of my job and health issues, finances have been a challenge. I worry about retirement and what the future holds. I want so badly to feel like I am fulfilling God’s purpose for my life and to feel passionate about what I am doing with my life. I think this book would be a good resource for me to help me sort out some of the questions that run through my mind constantly. Thank you for listening.

  367. This was a great read for me today! Thank you for writing this. Amazingly, I know of this salon, right here in Corona, CA where I live. Because of this, I am going to go in there and have my hair done. They just gained a new customer! I have huge respect for people like your friend who find the way to endure, through Him, especially.
But even better, I needed to read this today, to pass on to my daughter. She is trying to find her Sweet Spot, and this was so purposefully written for her. I literally hung up the phone with her, listening to her moan and groan about the day’s events and work that she didn’t want to go in to today, all the while contemplating what she wants to do with her life. And as I hung up with her, trying to be encouraging – I read this from you. He is so awesome in his message delivery, and His timing! Thank you for being the vessel to get this message to my daughter. I forwarded to her to read and I pray she gets what she needs to from it, in His glory. Have a great day!

  368. Would love to read this and then pass it along to several friends who would love to read it as well :) THANKS!!!

  369. And by the way, in addition to my previous message I posted :) I would love to win one your books to give to my daughter. She is almost 19, and is trying to find herself, find where she belongs, and what her calling is, with the talents He has given her ~ that God-given Sweet Spot. She struggles at times to persevere and see the bigger picture; to understand that it’s ok to take wrong turns and make mistakes. It’s all in His purpose to get her where she needs to be, and I hope and I pray that through this book, it would give her a re-newed sense of that understanding, knowledge, and confidence to figure it out and get out there and Do It! Thank you so much!

  370. I would love to have a copy if this book to read and share with my children.

  371. I would love to win a copy of this book because as a recent college graduate, I’m constantly overwhelmed with the stress of finances, not knowing when or where I’ll be moving for work, if I’ll have the funds to do that, and also being overwhelmed by looming student loan payments. If I were to win, I would share the knowledge of this book with other friends who have worked their way through college like I have.

  372. I would love to win a copy of this book, as I love Ruth’s idea of using “biblical truth + an action plan” to help with finances.

  373. Your post hit a soft spot for me today. Finding out what my sweet spot is has been an unanswered question for a very long time now. I honestly do not feel that I have any special talents or gifts, if I do…they are well hidden. I do pray that God reveal to me what gifts He has blessed me with. I have already failed more times than I can count trying to figure it out.

  374. I would love to receive a free copy because I am having financial difficulties which as you may know result with stress, anxiety, and feeling helpless. I recently graduated college and now work full time. It is a struggle for me to find a foundation for my self and my finances. My father passed away in November and now I am the sole bread winner for my house which includes my husband and mother that is disabled. I have a lot on my plate this year and have made it a vow to make meaningful changes this year. Being a young wife, I know how finances can really put a damper on a marriage. I hope that you give me this copy however if you don’t I hope you give it to someone that truly needs it more. Thank you for this opportunity.

  375. Charity Durham says:

Thank you for this devotional today! Blessings!

  376. Dori Sheese says:

I, too, have been through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, and am getting ready to take it again through my church. I need to learn to spend less, because I almost always feel like when I buy a gift for someone for a birthday, Christmas, etc., I need a gift for myself also!! Bad thinking!!! Thanks for the devotion on using your gifts God has given you – it’s a good one that I will share on Facebook with my friends! God Bless!

  377. my life is full of good intentions…I buy a quilt project (or two or three or more) with the great intention of making it and gifting it, but it sits or I may start it and not complete it. I have tons of scrapbooking materials with the intent of completing books for my five children and grand children, but only have done a few. The next best thing comes out, I am sure that I need to have it. But all it seems to do is clutter my life more.
For once, I would love to be able to determine whether or no I need a particular item that I buy and if so, follow through to the end!
This book would be a great gift for my life full of good intentions!!

  378. Bobby A. Sturgeon, Jr. says:

  379. I would like a copy of the book Spending Less and Living Well – because I would like to live by this example for my children. When I finish reading the book, I’d also pass it on to more people to read by donating to our church library or lending to the ladies in my bible study group. :) Thank you!!

  380. My sweet spot is encouraging others. I am a personal trainer and I have found over the last 6 years that I love encouraging others that they can be healthy. They can be “their” best for God. I love my job and I am grateful for all the things God has taught me by encouraging others.
I would love this book to encourage me and others

  381. I was terminated from my employment a few months ago after working in the legal field for 20 years. Needless to say, God’s timing for a career change was not in my plan, especially since I needed just a few more years to receive good retirement benefits. After having applied for various jobs that interested me and that I thought would be good career choices for me, I finally had two interviews for jobs that would help me complete the years I needed for retirement. My retirement plan was to sell real estate, but I needed to complete my years of service for the financial benefits. God had a different plan, however, as he had a childhood friend of mine offer me a chance to sell real estate. This offer came the day before my first scheduled interview. Two potential employers and two interviews later and I received an offer of employment. AWESOME, I could start a new career and finish my years of service to get that decent retirement that I was planning. The problem was that I no longer felt the excitement for that job that I had when I had applied – not after having been offered a chance to do my dream job of selling homes. It was after much prayer and deliberation and my husband’s blessing, that I found myself taking a leap of faith and I signed up to get my real estate license. One can just imagine the conflicting emotions I’ve had since that leap of faith…I’ve failed at tests and am taking longer than I had planned to complete my 168 hours of course work prior to even taking the state licensing test. My family is living on one income which is at best a challenging situation. Today’s Encouraging Word was exactly what I needed as today I face completing closing worksheets that intimidate me and plant thoughts of failure in my head. I have now been reminded, in God’s perfect timing AGAIN, that “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” and selling real estate isn’t simply getting a buyer into a house…it’s building a relationship and discovering their talents, ambitions and dreams. That’s who I am in Christ…He has given me a gift of relationship with people of all walks. I am in my sweet spot as we speak…thank you for that reminder today just when I needed it!

  382. christine says:

I just wanted to say this was an encouragement to me because I think at times I am too hard on my daughter…I don’t see her involved in alot of activites and I think she should be discovering but I do see her quite determination so thank you for reminding me that God is there in her walk

  383. Stephanie says:

This devotion spoke directly to me. Thank you Ruth for writing this. I am currently so far from what I went to college for that I don’t ever think I’ll be able to get back to it, and it saddens me that I feel like I’m wasting my sweet spot. I would love to win a copy of this book because I have been trying to work on my spending habits.

  384. I would love to win a copy of this book. A friend and I are starting a new women’s group at our church based on Proverbs 31 and Titus 2. We are wanting to gather as many resources as we can to share with our group on how to live as women following Christ. This book would be so great to have as a resource.

  385. I just spent a long time on your blog after reading this devotional and I absolutely love everything I’m reading. I’ve been begging my husband to let me hire a house cleaner, but am thinking that might not be necessary after all. My 3 kids have way too much and a lot of the junk needs to go! I’ve added your book to my Must Read list. Thank you!

  386. I would love to win a copy of the book because I am on disability and am a single mom who needs to live very frugally and would love the encouragement to do so.

  387. I would like to win this book to give to my “Alysha”, my 18 year old daughter who is putting herself through community college and just finished beauty school!

  388. JUDY HAYES says:

I would love to win this book – as one of my goals this year is to pay off debt, and save money also. I think it would help me to stay determined to follow through!

  389. Stephanie says:

I would love to win a copy of the book. My husband recently lost his job ( a six figure income) we are cutting back everywhere. Going to start some kind of financial bible study with spouse soon. Would appreciate prayers as my husband is beginning to show signs of depression from lack of work. In the meantime, I keep trusting God will provide for our families needs.

  390. Thank you, thank you for your blog post on finding your sweet spot! It spoke directly to me. I have been begging Jesus for over a year to show me the direction I need to go in. Maybe your insight and wisdom will help answer my prayers! I am willing to do whatever it takes to find my sweet spot. Thank you!

  391. Barbara Haynie says:

When I was on the Amazon web site, I read the article about Ruth’s book. There is a section “Want to know if this book is for you?”…….I answered every question yes! My husband is 63, I’m 61 (we are both disabled) and we have two 18 year old daughters with significant medical and psychological issues. My family’s finances have hit the bottom. Because of numerous medical bills we are in the process of filing bankruptcy. We even had to use a credit card to buy groceries….something I am so embarrassed for. I cut the credit cards up the next day and it scared me. I felt we had no safety net. How foolish of me. I know God is in control and that He will provide. For several months now I have been asking God to show me what my “sweet spot” is in serving Him. I want my life to reflect Him and with my life in such turmoil I’m afraid I’m not a very good reflection. I don’t want my teenage daughters following my footsteps of disorganization and budget disasters. I just feel like Ruth’s book would be the life preserver our family needs. Perhaps it would help give us a fresh start. I also love the daily devotions through Proverbs 31. All the writers are awesome.

  392. Would love to read this book and share with others!

  393. I would love a copy of this book because I am passionate about finding a comfortable balance between my hectic life and my budget (I spend too much but yet I don’t feel as if I spend a lot). I know this book can help me find this balance. It’s 2015 and I am ready to live the life I’ve always wanted, a life of purpose! I am ready to be all that God has created me to be and I know this book can help me!

  394. Thanks for the encouragement today! I would love a copy of this book! It would help me to have a different perspective on how to honor God in my finances!

  395. This devotion reminds me of the parable of the talents – we all have special gifts and talents that God gave us. My prayer is always that I find out what my talent is and then I use my talent to the honor and glory of God. I would like to receive the book because it will help me to find my talent and also to utilize it.

  396. I would so love to win a copy of this book. My husband and I are trying to get out of debt and any advice on how to save money in other areas so we can pay down credit card debt would be much appreciated. Thank you for all the great devotionals on this website and I have enjoyed and gotten a lot out of the Online Bible studies.

  397. It’s a great reminder that it was God who created my balance — my sweet spot! I’m a wife and mom of two lovely daughters (both happen to have major medical needs). I was a classroom teacher but couldn’t find the balance to meet the needs of my family. I left my school district, unsure how God would provide. It’s been 8 years now, I home-school my daughters, am teaching them how to live full lives in spite of daily (sometimes moment by moment) medical challenges and God has provided a way to continue my income by working 90% from home. It’s far better than anything I had dreamed of -I’m so thankful for His plan in my life!

  398. Cindy Inman says:

This post really spoke to my soul today. Thank you for encouraging me to seek the Lord to find my gifts, instead of wishing I had someone else’s. I struggle in this area. To win a book would be a true blessing, as I am looking for ways to cut our spending, yet still enjoy life.

  399. Sounds like a great book!

  400. Loved the devotion.. it is so true. Thanks for the encouragement. Would love to read the book

  401. Living Well, Spending Less would be a great resource for me and my family! I would read it and pass it on or donate it to our church library. Thanks for these encouraging devotions!

  402. Donna Whitehead says:

I would Love to read this book. thanks!

  403. God is calling me to a new season in my life – in March I will retire from being a full time social worker to be a full time stay at home Mom and Wife!!!! We totally believe this is God’s will and it was definitely His leading. I am so excited, yet at the same time, I’m terribly nervous about how to make it all work. I started working at my Dad’s restaurant when I was 6 (this was back in the 70’s). So this is unchartered territory to say the least! I believe this will be my sweet spot – it might be a little messy for a while as I get the hang of it.

  404. Sounds like a helpful read!

  405. John Salzman says:

I would like to give the book to my wife. I’ve been through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, but she wasn’t able to join me. I feel that if we are to move forward for His Glory we need to be on the same page and by her having this book we can move forward for His Glory.

  406. the sad thing is some of us go through life and can never find a gift

  407. Elaine Segstro says:

I would love to “live well” embracing the better life in Him and in His purposes and plans for me, rather than spreading myself out so thin. Focus and meaningful purpose in my life. I would love to read your book and very much enjoyed the devotional today!

  408. Who is this book for (from the link provided about your book)?
Do you ever struggle to stay organized or get things done? Oh my goodness, this is ME. I’d love to win a copy of your book .
Thank you for the devotion! It was perfect timing for me.

  409. I would love a copy of the book! I’m a new fan of Living Well, Spending Less and am currently doing the 12 day challenge. Would love to do more!

  410. Really enjoyed reading this – still searching for my “sweet spot” Would love to get a copy of this book.

  411. The title Living Well Spending Less is seems to be a running theme in my life. With two children in college, a husband due to retire while I am finishing a nursing degree, things are a little tight. I have embraced frugal living as has my whole family. We purchase clothing at thrift stores and remake and redesign clothing and gifts. I am putting on a wedding shower this week and am decorating using things found and borrowed, paint and fabric and it is turning out adorable! Tonight we are dining on leftovers and a fresh salad. We have whittled our budget down to a quarter of what we used to live on. This has brought about a deep peace in knowing that I have enough with less and even now it has begun to have its effect on my over eating. Maybe by “not being anxious” and cleaning stuff out of my life, there is more room for the Holy Spirit to work within.

  412. dawn posey says:

I feel like I am drowning in a job that is no longer satisfying. That the company just wants numbers it is no longer about the quality. I long to find my gift that God has given to work and grow in a field of his choosing.

  413. Oh my goodness – I would LOVE to find out what it is that God wants me to do!!! I’ll be 50 on my next birthday and have many interests and abilities but the lack of financial resources always holds me back from pursuing what I feel is in line with my personality. It would be great to figure out how to proceed so, yes, I would love to have a copy of this book please. Praying for wisdom for all of us :)

    Thanks!

  414. I would love a copy of this book for myself. I’m on a growing journey growing closer to God Jesus and my family! This book would be a nice help! Thank you for today’s devotional!

  415. Stephanie Mitchell says:

Being unemployed, through no fault of my own, for the last six months, has out a strain on the mortgage, marriage, and my son’s sense of comfort. He is worried that we will loose the house, I keep telling him we won’t, but I want to be able to create a home that can survive on less, and still look and feel like a million. Please help me, It would get me out of the depression I am in, and help me feel like I am contributing in some small way to the good of my family.

  416. Carolyn R says:

My teen girls always ask me what they should do as adults. This book would be a great answer to their questions and point them to the Lord. Thank you!

  417. Was this written for me? I have been stay at home mom for 11 years and am feeling like I have lost myself in the process. I want to go back and finish college but am 37 and have no idea what I am good at or like anymore. It all seems so scary too. Thank you for this devotional. I am going to print it out and read it over and over until I find my sweet spot. I look forward to finding out what God has in store for me.

  418. Debbie Richardson says:

I would love to win this book for my friend Sharon. Sharon and her husband work crazy hours in jobs they don’t really like and it’s all to have more money. I love my friend to bits and it hurts me to see how she relishes all the material things she can buy but whilst also moaning about her job and stress etc.. This message would really help her.

  419. I have just recently discovered my “sweet spot.” I’ve always loved animals, especially cats. Well, this summer I quit my decent paying job to stay home with our son. We had moved earlier in the year and our sitter would have been a 2 1/2 hour drive every day – I didn’t make enough to cover sitter costs & gas. So I quit. Once school started back up I found a job 5 minutes from his school, working at a vets office. I clean cat kennels some days and others I help as receptionist. The pay is barely above minimum wage, BUT I absolutely LOVE it!! We are definitely having to be more careful with our budget, but even though I come home filthy & exhausted I wouldn’t want to trade it for a higher paying job! God knows how much I love cats & He has given me the opportunity to help care for them.

  420. chris matijas says:

I would love to have a copy. We try very hard not to spend out of our budget. Love to read and share what I have absorbed with others. My gift is a giving of myself to others. Sometimes it is my family or church. Sometimes it is where I volunteer. Bless you.

  421. First of all, thanks for the devotion. The Lord has been speaking to me about this, and this hit home with me. I’m still trying to figure out my sweet spot. I know my gifts and talents, it’s just figuring out how to connect those with my passion and use it all for the Lord. I would love to win the book – the thing that struck me especially is the time management. Thanks so much!

  422. I’ve been a believer for years but just now beginning to grasp His love for me. Instead of finding my identity in my relationships and surroundings, I desire to discover my identity in Him. I’ve wanted to get this book to read through it with my mom.

  439. I would love to win a copy of this book.

  440. I would love to win this book. I’ve been following proverbs 31 ministries for awhile trying to learn to be a godly wife and mother. Having been married young and having children early, I didn’t quite master responsible finance management. I falsely believed it was my husband’s job to mind the finances, I know better now given my current curcumstances. This is the year I have made a commitment to own smart financial decision making and would love to add this book to my resources. I’ve heard great things about your blog and book from a girlfriend who certainly has her finances in order. Plus, this is a critical time to model financial intelligence with my three growing sons.

  442. I a new Sahm and I am feeling very overwhelmed.

  444. Wow, this is a great article. It really hit home. I believe God is calling me to do something, yet I am to scaried to fail. I would love a copy of this book. I’m trying to build my relationship with God and follow his plans. Thanks :)

And yet, I’m trusting that spot to the Lord because I know He’s the only One who can help me. After all, He was the one who gave that to me. The book can totally be my guide as I walk with the Lord with this sweet spot.

This book could give me the perspective I need to manage my budget and save more.

  452. My life I have made some bad choices in, as many people do. At a young age of 15 I found myself pregnant, and chose adoption. Which was a very hard time for me. I ended up born again but was not following the way I should as I had two more daughters out of wed lock. I found my way back after I married and had our youngest daughter. God has been so patient and full of grace with my choices. I am seeking to keeping growing and showing my daughters a life with God is much more rewarding than the worldly things. I as my older two girls was not a stand out, only a stand for my mistakes. God is just and is growing our family closer to Him everyday. I would want to read this book myself but also in hopes of my daughter or daughters to read. Thank you.

  453. Mary Markley says:

I would love a copy for myself and to share with my daughters. My youngest, age 14, is in that awkward stage where she is questioning so much in her life. Is she pretty enough? Will she get good grades? What is her gift? And how can God love her? I would really love the opportunity to read and share with her all that God sees in her. Phil. 4-13 is her life verse. I declared that for her after a terrible accident when she was 3 1/2. She is an amazing miracle.

I have been following Ruth through the emails I receive. I am at a point in my life where I am at the bottom of a hole and looking for a way out. With reading this blog, I see a big inspiration in both Ruth and her book. With guidance in my new journey.

Throughout my year and a half, I have been trying to figure out what my sweet spot is and how can I use my talents to glorify God. I am majoring in agricultural communications/broadcast journalism and can’t wait to see where God takes me with that. I hope that this book will continue to build my relationship with God and teach me how to live trusting in His plan.

I am also searching for God’s direction in my life, both personally and professionally, now that I am going to have an empty nest. I think this book would be a great tool.

  480. I found the blog wonderful and so timely for my life right now. Have been feeling discouraged that I don’t know what my God given talent is exactly and where I should be or what I should be doing…I enjoy my job but am not sure that is what or where I should be. I felt encouraged by the words and that I need to find ‘it’ and it is where I should be….not giving up and would definitely enjoy receiving the blessing of the book.

He has lived his life very frugaly and as a result has accumuated a lot of money. He is in his 90s now and is enjoying helping a variety of people out financially. He could spend his money, but really receives the most joy from helping others. He has made such an impression on our family and set a great example for our children. I would like to strive to be more like him and live my life more simply and focus more of my time and attention towards God and his purpose for my life.

  488. Rhonda Castle says:

I would like a copy because I like the idea of spending less in an intentional way. It’s so sad that we spend money every day just over and over so many times without any thought at all behind it. Thank you for the opportunity. God Bless You.

I recently realized that I am not living in the “sweet spot”. While I have a talent for teaching, that is not my God-given gift form the Holy Spirit. My gift is exhortation or encouragement/counseling. So, I am gong to go back to school and earn another degree in counseling form a Christian university in order to gain licensure and live in “the sweet spot”. Affording another degree was not in my family’s plans, however…so learning the tips in Ruth’s book would certainly be helpful!

  505. I’m still looking for my sweet spot.

  511. I would love to win this book!! As a stay at home mom it’s easy for me to beat myself up…. I’m not doing enugh, I’m not making enough, I’m holding my family back, I’m failing my kids…. But to read and be reminded that my priorities are doing what God has gifted me to do. Living simply in a sense that my focus is Him and not the rest of the junk I could be doing…. I need that reminder frequently! Thanks so much for the chance to win. God bless!

  512. I would love to win this book! My husband and I are doing Dave Ramsey’s baby steps to become debt free and I think this would be a great read for both us because budgeting and spending less is hard. 513. I loved your devotion. I would love a copy of your book. I believe it will help me give to my family of 6 with just the right amount that has been provided. I have committed to walking closer with the Lord this year in all areas of my life. I am not sure that I have figured out my sweet spot..but when I do I want to use it to serve God in ways I haven’t before.

  514. I would love to win a copy! I have been reading Ruth’s blog for about 6 months and find it very inspirational.

  515. I would love to win this book to get more information on how to live a more frugal lifestyle. I am 24 and would love to develop good spending habits while I am young so that later in life I will be in a good place.

  516. For older and younger! Bible-study groups, individual study, retreats…and pass-along! Thank you.

  517. Saving money and finding my purpose…two concepts I love learning more about! Unlike at the airport security, here I wouldn’t mind being randomly selected! 😉 lol

  520. Thank you for considering my post and your generosity of giving away this book of wisdom. I would like to read the book first and then share with my daughter. Her generation seems to have the “more is better” mentality and before she gets married and starts a family, I pray that she feels the contentment that comes from God.

  521. Shanelle A. says:

This post was such a blessing to find. I just started listening to the audiobook “Im No Angel: From Victoria’s Secret Model to Role Model” by Kylie Bisutti. She left Victoria’s Secret to focus more on becoming a Proverbs 31 wife. So I randomly typed in “Proverbs 31 ministries” to see what websites came up, and I discovered this one.

I would like to win a copy of the book because it’s the type of life I’m striving for. And it would be an awesome way to start the new year!

  522. Struggling with finances, would love a copy of your book. God bless you!

  523. I would like to have a copy of this book. I am just now finding God in my life. I am praying daily God shows me his plan for my life. I know He has something special maybe to inspire those who are afraid to speak. I was sexually abused and raped by my father for 22 years. In 2014 I finally was able to free myself that situation and sent my father to prison. In December I was able to give forgiveness to him. He hates me, and feels I betrayed him, but God gave me a voice finally. I feel I could help others who are unsure of speaking up. It is hard, and to be honest I hated God. I didn’t see why he had me live to be a sex slave, but now I know differently. God does love me and we are put through trials and I know there is always someone who has it worse. I want to find my gifts. I want to completely turn my life around.

  524. What a wisdom! In my heart , I have always wanted to serve in and wsy and sometimes see my self teaching/preaching. I would love to haves copy of this book. It would be great

  529. Karen Quist says:

I would love a copy of this book because although my mind is committed to the theory of LWSL, I have always struggled with getting my heart involved! I would love to be exposed to and experience a positive approach; only then will I feel competant to pass along my “wisdom” with my daughters just starting out on their own. I’m loving everyone’s comments and feeling encouraged!

  530. I would love to give my daughter the book .. She is going through a very tough time with a divorce … Not only does she need encouragement but now needs to live … Suddenly … On one income

  532. Lori Sash says:

I’m probably one of hundreds who would love to win this book; if I don’t win it, I may go out & buy it…my reason for wanting it is I am 47 years old & always say I’m going to start a budget & quit living paycheck to paycheck, but like most I never follow thru, however, THIS is going to be my year…I am in school, work full time, & last semester I had to pick up a second job to pay for school, & quote frankly I am tired of stressing over money!! Plus I have been blessed so much by friends, that, even though I do give what I can; I want to be financially stable to do more for others I find in need-pay it forward!!!!–I have been praying about it all & I also am praying when I done with school I can get a good paying job…so now I want to get on a plan to start budgeting NOW!! 539. Since I paid my way through college and earned a journalism degree, I’ve worked in public and media relations. I’ve always thought that was my sweet spot. I must be having a mid-life crisis, because I feel the need to explore other options for my writing passion. I feel the need to help others more and am looking at ways to simplify my life in order to do so. I would really appreciate a guide on how to re-assess the necessary so that I can accomplish more lasting feats. Thanks for all your blessings with this page! God bless!

  540. This book is on my long “wish list” so I’d love a copy. Those verses in Romans are so encouraging. The Enemy works against us to steal, kill and destroy the gifts that God has given us. As I mature in Christ, I realize that it’s not selfish to develop the abilities God has given me. I’ve been so beaten down in the past by so many destructive voices. I was very manipulated as a child through guilt. I think that I have often went to extremes rather than finding balance, that is, my sweet spot. The Lord will lead. I’m so thankful that He uses us to help one another.

We have some debt that we would love to get rid of quickly so that we can do according to God’s will. Thank you so much for this opportunity. God bless.

  544. We’re almost 2 years into participating in the Financial Peace program, but getting that itch to sell out house and move into something bigger, newer, “better”, but… It’s a big BUT do we need to? Why can’t we just be satisfied with what we have?

I have always enjoyed reading the quotes on Facebook from proverbs 31 ministry and I remember hearing about being a proverbs 31 woman while growing up but this is the first time I’ve been able to read a blog/devotional (which was just what I needed to read) from your page since hearing about it. I am a military spouse and life can be unpredictable at times and I’m still trying to figure out Gods career plan for my life so in the meantime while I am a stay at home mom it is important for me to budget and save where I can. I think this book may help. Thanks

  565. I would love to receive a copy of this book! I already purchased one for myself but would love to give this as a gift to my sister! Thanks so much for all the great reading suggestions!

  566. We as women, for some reason or another always beat ourselves up over someone we’re not,or something we’re not doing. We are own worst enemy.
I struggle daily with these thoughts and fears. And I recently made a career mistake based on my anxieties and fear of failure. And not trusting in God to help me overcome these feelings. But because of this choice I am turning to HIM and learning to place my trust in HIM to care for me.
I would love to read this book, regardless of whether I win or not. God’s plan is bigger than mine.

  568. Wow, loved that sentence: “Finding your sweet spot often means a messy process of finding, then learning how to embrace the God-given talents you already have, rather than those you wish you had” – so true!
Would love to win the book too; it would be a great blessing for our big family!

  569. Erika Ziesmann says:

I would love to win a copy of this book. I am in a tough spot in my life where I have to find out what I am going to do now that I am in the process of a divorce that I never anticipated. Having been a stay- at-home mom and homemaker since more than 20 years and a wife now I have to find out what could be something I can and also would love to do that also earns me some income and gives me joy. And of course I have to find ways to spend less.

  571. Spending is an area I struggle in. I would love to relieve the pressure my husband takes on from my thoughtless trips to the store and the unnecessary items that seem to result. I would truly like to be able to say that I know what it means to be content. Thanks to Proverbs31 for your daily encouragement!

  572. Brittany Avery says:

I would love a copy of this book for a few reasons…. 1. It spoke to me, as I have tattooed on my wrist for myself to be reminder Phil. 4:13 ! 2. Monday, January 19th will be my 30th birthday! I know the giveaway is random, but how fitting:) And 3rd, the title of the book spoke to me. My husband and I plan to tithe in so many way this year, not just through church, but with our time, hearts and abilities. We have 2 little girls to grow up for and prove that you CAN let your abilities and talents collide, and in His name, even better! Wow I hope I win this book so I can share it with my sisters and mom too……….. Blessings! Cant wait to hear!

  573. Perfect reading to take time out and reflect on…it’s tough at times to sit back and think “what DOES the God want me to do or what is my special God given talent?”

As I reflect on past experiences and current I always go back to giving and helping, encouraging and giving support to people…when I worked for the high school I really wanted to reach out to teenage girls give them and show them an example of my testimony…but anytime I hear of someone in need if I can its just in me to drop whatever I’m doing and try to run to help them n any way possible…I jus get that rush that urge to be an example and pray for their needs…its a very comforting feeling…thank u for this opportunity.

  574. Sheila Allison says:

I would love to read this book and have it on my wish list. Since I am on a spending freeze as have lost my income, and trying to make ends meet as a single mom, I know I can not just purchase it as I might once have. I know there is more to what God has called me to, and why the change in income for a season has brought me a new sense of peace to do more with much less. In a weird way the past few weeks has been refreshing, even if a bit worrisome.

  575. McKenzy winkler says:

I would so love a copy of this book! My goal this year is to focus on God and spend less!!

I would love a copy of this book! I just shared the devotional from today’s email with the ladies in my small group and the one suggested we all read this book and do one of our monthly meeting on it. I just had my 5th child so frugal living is a must for my family :)

  577. I would love to win a copy of this book. I would love to be more financially aware and contribute to my family by being more financially responsible.

I believe that God has blessing stored for me and my children. I know that there is a brighter future ahead. Having the opportunity to receive a copy of this book would be a great benefit for me and my children.

  580. Why I would like to win this book….

I am currently trying to find my place in life. I used to work full time and be a second provider for our family and coached soccer as well. I was constantly busy and overwhelmed but loved it. My husband is a police officer and with two incomes it was easy to do things we wanted and not worry about our financial situation. After having our first baby I decided to quit my job and stay home so our little one didn’t miss too much of our time. This is where I’m learning to take a step back and be a mom but also to be frugal since we are on a police officers income. I feel like this book would really help with my struggles of overspending and getting in the mindset of our new financial situation. I really enjoyed your devotion it really spoke to me and my current situation.

  581. Connie Smith says:

Thank you for offering this book! I would love to have a copy- as so many others would

  582. I came here to leave a comment to say that I would love to receive this book, but after reading so many of the comments I realized it’s just my selfish nature wanting to win something that I could afford. My only ‘need’ to win this would be to bless one of these other women with the book; someone who truly needs and could benefit from this blessing. 615. Kari Potvin says:

Hi, my name is Kari. I am 28 years old and have struggled with making a career choice since the moment I entered college when I was 18. I changed my major 5 times, always knowing that I wanted to work with kids. Because teaching kids is my passion. However, along the way I was influenced by others and pushed and pulled in different directions and I didn’t take time to focus on my god given talents. Nor did I take much time to pray about my dilemma. After graduating college I continued to struggle with this decision but at an even more devastating level. Working in a job I didn’t love it felt hopeless. I felt like I was running out of time to find a job that I was truly passionate about. I want to get married and have children not still be looking for a job that I was satisfied with. So I decided to go back to school, where again I bounced around between career options at age 24 and found myself in beauty school at 27. It wasn’t until then that I knew that the job I had been doing all along may be where God wants me to be. Which was a job in behavioral therapy working with kids.

I have been praying intensely about career dilemma for quite some time now and now am in graduate school to get my masters in behavioral therapy. I must admit some days I feel I’m right where I’m suppose to be and other days I doubt my decision. I just keep praying that God will continue to lead me in the direction he wants me to go. I still have dreams of teaching children in a classroom one day, and still hope that someday maybe that is where God will lead me, but only time will tell. As for now I am trying to remain at peace in the current situation I believe he has called me to be in which is why I would love this book. I think God finds ways to show me all the time that the current career I am in and the masters I am working towards is my sweet spot. However, I feel like I would benefit from discovering more about why he calls this my sweet spot. I believe it would be encouraging when I experience my seasons of doubt.

  616. I would love this book to help me live better and stop spending.

  625. I enjoy these devotionals every day…they encourage me when I need it, and when they aren’t speaking specifically to me at that second, within 24 hours I find someone who needed the message. Amazing how God works, isn’t it? I enjoy writing a bit myself, and I like to journal about life, my prayers, and even my “work.” And although I know who I am in God’s eyes, I still tend to see myself through my own, which is average. Even with what I do for a living, (massage therapy) although I am happy doing it, it hasn’t yet been enough to get beyond just making ends meet. If I had the extra funds, I would love to purchase the book! But until then, I appreciate the references from it, and from the author. 649. Dawn Scott says:

This is an awesome chance to win a great read! My mission started late in 2014 to get back to basics with my two precious angels whom are 6 & 4. Living in a neighbor of haves & have nots to put our girls in a better school I realized so many children today are so misguided … True gifts are living simply, quality time not quantity time with family & true friends… My wish is to bless our girls with the knowledge / insight that things are just things & do not bring you peace in your heart & living on credit cards is no way to live either. I lost sight in the influences / pressures in living in an area that we could not truly afford to give them a better education & in the end the outside influences made our once independent thinking & strong willed lil angels have fears, pressures of having things they do not need & are being bullied for not having material items.

In that at Christmas this past year we spent quality time & bonded, laughed &made a huge mess making ornaments to decorate our tree… I wanted them to learn making something from the heart is more valuable then anything you could purchase it was the best & lil by lil by reading together, playing together in the open air no Disney or themed parks needed you can have just as much fun!

So I / we want to continue that journey with them & both my hubby & I need to also learn & lean back more on Hebrews 13:5 & Philipians 4:12-13 & in pure blind faith that we need to live our lives free from the love of money & thru him we can do all things thru Christ whom gives us strength.

  702. This opportunity just came at the right time. I have been going through a lot the last few months. My husband for 17 years has a drug and alcohol addiction. We have produced two children. We have been living a life full of disappointment, bitterness and financial problems. It seems like we always are in debt as due to my husband problem. I have seen myself becoming sometimes unkind and harsh due to the ongoing problems. I have known my sweet spot but because of this ongoing problem, I felt like I am lost, tired, frustrated, overwhelmed and stressed. The problem is so big and I am very overwhelmed. It is a big burden in our family. This sweet spot has covered with my reactions of the frequent circumstance. I am aware of this sweet spot but I am desperately struggling to maintain it. I would like to get a copy of this book in hope to help me how to be a good steward with God’s money given in our situation and bringing God’s design in me. I would LOVE to read this book. As the sole parent of a wonderful 9 year old son in have lost myself on his needs. God has answered my prayers as we approach 10 and I am able to step back and watch God work. In 2015 He has places on my heart that it is time to look at my dreams and gifts and be all He has for me. I am looking forward to how God grows both me and my son.

  715. I really like this concept. It is a fresh new viewpoint on a Biblical truth. I also like that the example given was one of a normal person who found her passion and overcamethe obstacles as needed to reach her goals. I believe that once we find the thing that has been engrained in us, what God has made us for and ask for His help in pursuing it, we could do anything. Fear will have no room because confidence will replace it. Looking forward ti reading this book.

  718. I am a senior in college and have had some trials with deciding where my next step will take me. I am studying a career in Community Health Education, and I would love to become a health educator. I have always had the gift of leading and teaching others, and that’s something that I want to shape a future career around. Lately, I’ve just been undecided as to what the future holds for me after I graduate next year. While I have these gifts, I know there are plenty of opportunities out there for me, I just am at a stand still as to which path to take. I’ve relied more on the Lord’s plan for me and know He will ultimately lead me to where I will best fit-the ultimate sweet spot will be someone where God calls my heart and my skills to serve. I have recently learned to be open to different opportunities. I would love to win a copy in order to further understand where God might place me in my “best yes” sweet spot!

  721. IF I won this book, I would give it to my brother. He is five years older than me and he called me last night needing someone to talk to. We stayed on the phone for over 2 hours. He is fighting many demons from our past, our family, addictions and struggles. He is starting to wonder why God has helped him endure and survive all that he has faced. He is beginning to listen for God’s call and direction. He knows he wants to change but he doesn’t know quite yet what he is to become. I want him to find God’s encouragement, comfort and direction. I pray he may find it.

  731. I am always looking for encouragement for myself and to share. I can get wrapped up in daily life and lose my true compass. When I read encouraging books, quotes or stories it helps to bring me back to my base in God. I would enjoy reading this book and sharing it with family and friends.
