The God Who Holds the Stars, Holds You

The God Who Holds the Stars, Holds You

February 16, 2015

“Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.” Psalm 139:12 (NASB)

Sally Clarkson

“Mama, the world seems like a very scary place, and it makes me feel insecure and powerless. I’m afraid I’ll be so lonely without friends and family to face the difficulties ahead.”

Joy, my daughter, a senior in college, was leaving the next day for a semester of study in Oxford, England. Yet the day we were packing, ISIS had just killed the second of two American journalists. Friends sent messages to Joy wondering if she had seen the news.

“England will be the next target, and that might start war while you are there,” one of her friends texted. With devastating, disastrous world news including earthquakes, war, immorality amongst Christian leaders … as a young woman, Joy understandably felt overwhelmed.

Late into the night, we zipped her last suitcase. We were both exhausted from the adrenalin of getting all the details in place for her flight the next day, but she pleaded, “Can we have one last time together out on the grass, under the stars? I need some peace before I go to bed.”

I knew her fears were still there, so I whispered, “Yes, my sweets! We will make one more memory together before you go.”

As was our habit, we took some soft, old blankets out to our front yard, under the tall pines, and lay next to each other shoulder to shoulder on the grass. The cold Colorado mountain air blew gently across our faces, and the aspen leaves in the distance swished and danced. A dog barked in the distance, but otherwise, the night whispered clear and quiet.

We gazed into the sky and silently shared the moment. Stars filled the navy blue landscape and sparkled as though just for us. We breathed out life’s clutter and fears of the day and inhaled the peacefulness of the grandeur above.

“Mama, when I look at what God has done, and keep my eyes on Him, it seems like my fears are melting away,” she whispered and snuggled closer.

God’s own voice seemed to speak to my heart as I answered:

“Joy, this vast display of stars has been held in place by the sure, strong hands of God for thousands of years, through wars, tragedies, sadness and disasters of every kind. Not one year of our history has shaken the power or control of God.”

“As I lived through years of sleepless nights when you were gasping for breath with asthma, through car wrecks, financial disasters, the tragedies of our friends, I can look back and see the constant faithfulness of God, every day, every year.

“Our God who created this beauty for us to behold, who has shown His power through the calm night skies is the one who will be with you every step of your journey ahead.

“He will fill you with the Spirit who threw the night sky into place, so that you will know His companionship, love, beauty and wisdom each step in your journey. Remember what He told Joshua when he was afraid: ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go’ (Joshua 1:9, NASB).

“Joy, God prepared a story of faith for you to live. Many in Oxford long to know His love that you will bring. Others who look for meaning will need the messages of His truth that are stored in your soul. Beauty will be strewn across your path so you can observe His fingerprints.

“Your hope and faith are needed by those who are filled with despair in these dark times. If you embrace the days ahead that He has prepared for you, your time in Oxford will be a purposeful time, no matter what the days hold. Wherever you go, you will bring His light and love.

“But remember, Joy, you will always have a choice to make.

“If you look at the darkness and fear of the news of the day, you will grow dark in your soul.

“Look to God. Choose to trust Him with your days. Live in His reality.

“Don’t look at fear, just keep the memory of this night, His power and beauty always in your thoughts — and you will find courage and hope that you need every day. The God who holds the stars holds you.”

Heavenly Father, let us keep our gaze upon You and rest in Your ability to carry us through all of our fears, through all of our days. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (NASB)

Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (NASB)

  1. I needed this right now as encouragement before I go to bed. I have just read about the reported murder of 21 Christians in Libya by Isis. I will go to bed repeating “The God who holds the stars, holds you”. I thank you!

    • This wonderful thing that God has done this year has not been for me personally. As of today, we’ve seen a growth increase in the membership at TBC-Temple Baptist Church Champaign, IL. I guess I’d be afraid of membership at church declining. Right now, we’re increasing in number; however, I don’t know how long this is actually going to last. I hope it lasts long. Nevertheless, I’ve been at other churches with small numbers, but I attended a church at one time that had over fifty members when they actually had their very own facility to utilize. Unfortunately, it ended up going down- probably because people either fell away from Christ or no longer saw eye to eye with the way things were run in these particular church communities that I once attended before now. Then again, God is capable of doing wonderful things in my awesome church community, no matter what may happen.
“Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.” Psalm 139:12 (NASB)
Amen! What a wonderful thing to remember tonight! With God, everything is bright. Ultimately, His love outshines the darkness that Ssatan wants to cover the earth in permanently.
“The God who Holds the Stars HOLDS YOU.”
Amen! What an incredible feeling! Ultimately, there’s absolutely nothing that will ever cause God to let go of us whatsoever. Unconditionally loved is how we should feel whenever we come into the wonderful presence of the Lord.
“Heavenly Father, let us keep our gaze upon You and rest in Your ability to carry us through all of our fears, through all of our days. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. “~Kelly Clarkson
Amen! What a wonderful thing to always remember! No matter what we may be going through in life, God can see us through any challenges. He loves us so much that He is never going to leave us alone during an obstacle.
Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (NASB)
Amen! What a powerful verse to take to bed with us tonight! No matter what we may be going through, God wants us to be strong and courageous when we face any challenges from the enemy.
Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (NASB)
Amen! What a powerful thing to remember tonight! God wants to remind us that He is always going to care for us, no matter what we may be going through. In difficult situations, we need to look to the Lord for help and guidance.

  2. Thanks for the encouragement!! I’m currently in a trial that involves my whole family and it’s close to the end I hope. I need to bring those fears to the Lord.

  3. Lynn, I was thinking the exact same thing. May God continue to hold the grieving families. God, please find me faithful.

  4. I really needed to read these words tonight. I am in the process of relocating to Dubai, to be with my soon to be husband. We would like to get involved in ministering to others. It is a scary time for me, with a few obstacles that I am fighting along the way. These words of encouragement were very timely.

  5. Lynn, I think you wrote this devotional for me. Tonight. I have just experienced my first for REAL Spiritual warfare over the past 6 days! It was chilling! Paralyzing! Horrifying! and all my soul is longing for is PEACE! Hearing just that sentence, The God who Holds the Stars, Holds You! gives my soul the reassuring peace it NEEDS to hear!! ALL I WANT is HIM to hold me close!!! I LOVED every word of this devotional! EVERY WORD!! I would LOVE to read your book! It is truly my HOPE that I win a copy! I Need IT!!!

  6. I am on a journey towards building an intentional life and your book, Own Your Life, sounds like a fantastic resource that can help. Thanks!

  7. nana Tammy France says:

  8. Patrica Davis says:

Wow… I love that insightful story. I’ve never read Sally Clarkson before, now I want to and will do. Winning a book would be a great start. I’ve shared this as well. Thank you.

When these troublesome news stories hit, I have to remember that we are not of this world, it is temporary and Jesus is eternal. I continue praying for those affected by these atrocities.

  9. chris tucker says:

There are no words for how much I needed to hear this tonight. God speaks to us in so many ways. Thank you for being His voice to me this time.

  10. Very inspiring story, the note about embracing each day knowing that there is someone bigger than the circumstances surrounding us makes me feel so secured. I’m finding my feet there and am determined to conquer all fears the days bring through Christ Jesus who has already conquered all for me.

  11. How great is this. My husband of 17 years had an affair and a child resulted. Tonight I found out that he has continued to see her behind my back. I feel like the whole world is crashing around me. Thanks for the reminder that God is holding me and our 4 kids.

    • He sure is Stephanie and he will not let you go. Praying for you and your family.

    • Am in similar circumstances after being completely sold on full quiver and the patriarchal homeschool movement and NINE beautiful children. Am in the OMG, now what stage. Know we are beautiful and beloved in the eyes of our Creator. God bless you, and I will be praying for you as I pray for myself.

  12. I am daily asking God to let His light shine through me and that my life is a reflection of Him. “Own Your Life” would be so helpful in my journey.

  13. Halona Luna says:

I love this. I have suffered from several medical conditions that doctors have labeled incurable which has brought a lot of doom into my heart and I have lost me. I would love to win is book and let God love me back to life.

  14. Grateful for your words of encouragement. I am working to trust God more and become fear-less.

  15. I have read all your books throughout the sixteen years I have been homeschooling my eight children and they have helped me along the way to be a better Christian and a better homeschooling teacher. I have learned so many new things and implemented in them in our schooling. If I were able to win a copy of this book it would be a blessing as well. Thanks for sharing your wisdom in the pages of all these book. Blessings! 🙂

  16. I’d be delighted to read Sally’s book – as a single mum who has poured much into the lives of my now young adult children, I am seeking the Lord’s leading in this new phase of life… I’m sure that involves ‘Owning My Life’ in some new ways. It would be an encouragement to read Sally’s wisdom in that regard.

  17. nancy cargene says:

I would love to have this book to share with my daughters. They are both in their early twenties and getting ready to venture out on their own. I believe this book would really benefit them both.

  18. Tracy Larson says:

Thank you for the reminder of the importance of those simple acts of connection with those you love. How meaningful that time must have been for Joy! What a beautiful way to be reassured of God’s presence and to feel His peace in a world with so much evil lurking. We have our smaller versions of unfair, unnecessary painful experiences here… That I pray I can feel peace about as God is in control. Thank you! God bless, Tracy

  19. Denise Weber says:

I would love to win this book! A new empty nester who needs encouragement! Thank you for considering me!

  20. Being a homeschool mom I needed this … I need her book

  21. Thank you for writing about living a fearless life in Christ. Too many of us Christians live in fear.

  22. I would love to read your book and then pass to other people that need encouragement! Thank you!

  23. Lorilee Mundfrom says:

Living intentionally takes courage and grace. I know I cannot do that alone. God wants me to live that way. I would read this book to learn how to practice intentional living!

  24. Beautiful prayer. Many times I hate to watch the news because it creates new worry and anxiety. I plan on saying this prayer every night before bed.

  25. I loved this devotional – thank you for the encouragement! A friend just introduced me to Sally Clarkson’s books and I would love to read this one!

  26. Pastor Gail Harris says:

I would love to win this to give to my 29old daughter who been stuggle with come off pain meds going thru.fear and depression she a awseome daughter who fell off her horse messed her neck up doctor gave the pills she didn’t mean to come addiced to them I been staying with her and her family to help her with her 3daughters she never been on meds like that she battles from a very abusive first marriage .she got a awseome husband now but alot pain fear in her life.I think the book would help her.

  27. I receive the ‘Encouragement for Today’ email every morning, and it’s as if God knows exactly what I need to hear today.
My life is going through major transitions in every way possible, my children, home, business, relationship, etc etc.

The two verses that have been my mantra throughout the past couple of months, have just been used in your ‘Encouragement for Today’ email/post.

“Fear thee not, for I am with you, do not despair, for I am your God, I will help you, I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand”
“Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be in dread of them, for the Lord your God goes with you, he will never leave you or forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

How amazing that he knows how to communicate with me, visually. He knows me, loves me, and as my faith grows I know what seems like a dark time at the moment, he is changing me, directing me all for the Glory of God. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

    Thank You x

  28. Thank you for your encouraging message this morning, as a stage four Cancer patient we continue to fight and some times take our eyes off of God, I would love to receive a copy of this book for encouragement .
    God Bless
    Linda Bennett

  29. I would love the book. This reminded me that no matter what fears are trying to hold me back, God is with me and He is in control of my life.

  30. Ashley Fields says:

This was beautiful!! I love it when God speaks directly to my heart, as he did with this post. I allow fear to seep in and rob me of my joy much too often. I’d love to win the book for that reason alone.

  31. I needed to hear these words tonight from the do not fear to the getting through the night with asthma. When God speaks He is so specific, and I have to have a heart to hear. Thanks you for writing these words to read in the midst of a health struggle that is nearly three years old. The nights get very dark.

  32. This devotion has actually caused me to look at something bigger. You see, 3 days ago a very close family friend went to be with Jesus, but his precious wife and 3 beautiful little girls are left here on this Earth. Though we are all going through a very dark time at this moment, I would like for her to know that in her darkness He will still shine and show her the way to go in His Light.

  33. The God Who holds the stars in place holds even me… what a comfort this morning. Yes, I would love to have a copy of your new book.

  34. Thank You Lord for using these words to get my eyes back on You rather than on the “What if’s” . My husband came home last week very upset and said he was quitting his job of 10 years. I knew he wasn’t happy and said God would provide for us and lead us where he wants us next. I haven’t worked in 5 yrs because I cared for my mother and now am her executer. We had already planned a vacation (and paid for most of it) to Belize in April. I planned to look for work after vacation. My husband feels the Lord may be calling us to retire in Belize, perhaps to work with orphans. On minute I’m excited about what God has in store for us on this next chapter in our lives, the next minute the fear (can relate to Joy’s fears) creeps in. Please pray that I keep my eyes on Jesus and trust Him with our future.

  35. Wanda Faye says:

I would like this book. My life, as I see it, has been one that has taken on the needs, wants and responsibilities of others. This was my doing. I have been told, “Get a Life”, “You need balance”. I find that I am happiest when I see the needs of others fulfilled but when it comes to my own life, it really isn’t because it is too dependent on the lives of others.

This book may shed some light and provide me with Wisdom how to own my life.

  36. Wow! What an amazing devotional! I can only imagine what a wonderful book it must be. Their is so much turmoil in my life these days, this book would be great to help strengthen my faith. At the moment I have a mom with stage 4 cancer/emphysema who requires 24 hour care along with her husband who has congestive heart failure/COPD. I have a grandson, step mom, and great uncle all in different hospitals. I am newly married ND am also dealing with two very stubborn teenagers in my home. I think this book would help to strengthen me in this journey I am on and help me to feel God’s peace!!!

  37. Very timely message for my hurting heart… Thank you for being obedient to what God has called you to do, Sally. You are my mentor.

  38. I would really like to read this book. At this point in my life I have a lot of decisions to make.

  39. I’ve come to a time in my career that I have a choice to make…I am eligible for retirement, but would still need to work. My job is what God chose for me and I have enjoyed the time spent teaching, but changes in the workplace make it difficult to want to continue. I put my trust in him and must choose his reality. Thank you for your words.

  40. We have had a huge reduction in finances. As in $20 for groceries for the month for 5 of us. I gave it to God and an hour later an old friend called stating her son and dil had just been grocery shopping and then got called out if state. Could we use any food? I don’t know why i worry about stuff because He is ALWAyS takimg care of me

  41. Gail Cohen says:

What a great way for me to start this week! Thank you Lord for Sally Clarkson! Thank you that she hears your voice and is such a great encouragement to so many people. Sally, I am inspired by your message today. I needed to read it. So many thoughts go through my mind and it is difficult to explain or communicate them with others around me. I feel as though I have communicated with you about them; as though you have been reading my thoughts, by what you said in your message. I am so grateful for Porverbs 31 and especially for your ministry. Thank you!

  42. mary barratt says:

I just started a job in early Dec 2014, I needed this job because my daughter and I left a bad situation at the marital home my family shared together and I filled for divorce last May. The last couple of weeks I am starting to become overwhelmed and having anxiety about work and when I’m there. I believe this book will help.

  43. “If you look at the darkness and fear of the news of the day, you will grow dark in your soul.” Thank you, Sally, for this apt warning to keep our eyes on the source of light and life. And thank you for your example–sending your child off with your blessing. So many parents see a scary world and hold their children closer. Yours is not only a story of an adult child trusting God for the journey ahead; it is a story of a parent saying, in faith, “Go with God.”

  44. WOW!!!!! What encouraging words. I have been struggling for quite awhile asking God “What do you want me to do with my spiritual gifts?” I grew up in church all my life, dated and married my high school sweetheart. I did not go to college, however I have always had an office job. I have always felt so inferior, had low self esteem, and uneducated. I was married for 25 years and God blessed with me with 3 children. Then my life really took a drastic turn with a divorce. Years later God blessed me with a true Godly husband who has boosted my self confidence, has taught me so much about God and life’s experiences. I know God is equipping this “Southern Girl” to help someone else….I know it. This video has shown me to “Own My Own Life”… life, not someone else’s. God hasn’t revealed to me what I am to do right at this moment other than wait. During this waiting period I know I must stay in his word to hear him speak, continue to teach my children about God and trust that his TIMING is best even when it is hard to wait. I know deep in my heart that God has HIS plan for this Southern-Slanged girl and he made ME like no one else. I love God with all my heart and soul and I want to be obedient and wait for his calling….not mine. I do know God can use you no matter what age you are…..just be patient and STILL enough to listen to him.

  45. Stephanie Smith says:

I would love a copy of your book. The article you posted bought me great comfort.

    Thanks and God bless you.

  46. As silly as this is, I’ve been facing my fear every night the last week since my husband is gone on a trip for 2 weeks. It’s so silly–I’ve lived by myself for years before getting married. But somehow I’m just super-alert every night to every strange noise in the house. I’ve had some good meditations on God’s Word this past week at night 🙂 but still not much sleep. Argh! I want to really “get” it–to really trust Him. I tell my little children (ages 4, 2, and 1) that we don’t need to fear because God is with us, and I am preaching it to myself. I’d love to read the book because I want to be intentional with my life, with our family. And it helps to be inspired by the words of God’s people.

  47. What a great devotional! I’d love to win the book because I’m trying to learn to live more for God and less for myself.

  48. My circumstances are so extreme that Own Your Life may not be relevant for me. You can better decide based on your knowledge of the content. I am literally worn down from battling severe depression for over 45 years and now fighting late stage breast cancer alone but with Jesus, the one who really matters. No husband or children and no church family. Chemotherapy too toxic and medicaid will not pay for the more effective health building treatments available through wholistic care oncologists. I would share the book with my cousin who has had breast cancer twice. God is more than able to bring us through, restore the years of loss, and like Caleb give us our promised inheritance. I am 62 but still have trust and hope for a life that will bless others beyond what I can yet imagine. Nothing is impossible with God!

    • Dolores,
My mom is battling Ovarian and lives 3,000 miles away from me & my family. I have battled depression most of my life so I know how destructive it can be to your mental & spiritual health. I’m praying for you & asking God to send a strong believer to walk this path with you. No matter what, you are NOT alone.

  49. Powerful message; sweetly spoken. Words of truth so applicable to everyday circumstances. What I needed to read today.

  50. The God who holds the stars holds you… How wonderful! What a timely message for me as my son just left for Army boot camp and I have so many worries about his safety. This book would be a great inspiration for me at this time in my life and it would help my soon to be daughter in law. Thank you for this encouragement. God bless!

  51. paula nichols says:

Recently I obeyed the Lord and moved to a different city to take care of my mom with Alzheimer’s. Being away from my close friends and the church I loved has been lonely at times and difficult. My daughter just told me she no longer wants a relationship with me. I am barely holding on and I am afraid of failing. I think your book could be the encouragement I need.

  52. Debbie Parks says:

As I begin this new day, I am assured of this very fact – that God always goes before me and is with me. Those Christians who lost their lives were confident in the statements of God. They are now standing before a loving God and being told, “well done, thou good and faithful servant”. May I also have this kind of faith.

  53. I would be blessed to receive your book.

  54. I am trying to figure out God’s purpose for my life!

  55. Wonderful and encouraging devotion. I would love a copy of your book.

  56. Laura Watts says:

I’ve learned no longer to be surprised by God’s perfect timing and provision, but ALWAYS amazed by it. My husband and I are about to make an important decision about my job and whether we need to change it so I can be home with our young daughters. I would love to win the book and share it with my Mother In Law who is my example and closest Christian friend.

  57. I have struggled with being intentional… I would love to read this book.

  58. I’m not sure about making an impact on the world but I’m always looking for encouragement for this journey of life.

  59. I really needed this today. The “other shoe in life just keeps dropping” & there is never enough time in a day to do everything I need to. Often overwhelmed and very distracted I tend to get; angry, whiny, & my negativity flourishes. I would like to receive this book for my friend, Jill. Her father receives her emails as she has his old iphone and her computer is in the shop so she is getting none of the devotions I have been forwarding to her and we live almost an hours drive apart . She too faces physical pain daily. I don’t have her complete street address but have her father’s email as well as hers and can get her complete street address. I have been so blessed by Proverbs 31 I pray to be a blessing to others.

  60. Thank you for this wonderful reminder to look to Him in all circumstances. In this world so filled with people with anxiety and multiple fears, it’s so wonderful to be reminded of His power.

  61. I struggle to OWN my life. Too many times I let the enemy take control. Thanks for the great devotional.

  62. Thank you for sharing your life so honestly and openly in Jesus’ name. I belive God is calling me to do the same, but at 61 I could use help in determining God’s will for me to live boldly and to help others do the same. Peace, Barbara

  63. Beautifully written. I would love to have this book. Intentionality is so hard! Most times I just let life happen to me but I so want to change that.

  64. I want my life to impact others so they can see Christ in me. I would like to read your book on living intentionally. Thank you for today’s devotional

  65. Rozelle Goodman says:

I have just begun reading Own Your Life. I am ready.

  66. “The One who holds the stars” … Father, keep my eyes fixed on You – may I be reminded in creation of Who You are and Whose I am. Prompt me to take thoughts captive that go against Your truth. Thank You for loving me. Amen

I’d love to have a copy of the book – thanks for the beauty of your words in describing the CO night! Praying for your daughter!

  67. I can’t wait to send this to my daughter. She is in a terrible marraige thus has trouble seeing His light and hearing the truth. I pray she will use your passage and the scripture daily, keep it in her pocket as her little star.

  68. Hi, I am in transition right now, I feel like I’m in limbo – not knowing what God has planned for me or what to do next. Most days I feel paralyzed and really want to own my life. I would love to have a copy of your book, it might be just what I need for clarity and motivation. Thank you!

  69. Tracy Bockbrader says:

This s poke to me so much today! A year and a half ago I sent my daughter off to England with many of the same feelings! I would read this book and then share it with my daughter!

  70. melissa ward says:

this devotional really hit home with me today! we have been struggling with some tough things in our marriage and family…..I can’t wait until my husband comes home and I can share these thoughts with him:)thank you!

  71. Love Blossoms says:

I am trying to reprioritize God in my life as He’s correcting the disobedience in my life. Through struggles and fears I’m seeing Him near.

  72. marge michulsky says:

Sally, I absolutely loved your devotional this a.m.!!! I would love to read your book for myself and then for our four grandchildren who will be going off to college in the fall. Some of the four know where they are going and some are struggling to know where God wants them to go. Thanks for your insights!!!

  73. What a wonderful way to share strength with your daughter. Reminded me of times my daughter and I would lie on our deck and look up at the stars. I would love to have a copy of your book to share with her as she will graduate from college next year and face the world.

    Thank you!

  74. Very uplifting devotion. My husband has filed for divorce for reasons that with God’s help can be worked through. I know that I could help him and that our marriage could be stronger by putting God first in our lives and each other second. I have turned to God’s Word in all of this and I pray for my husband daily. We have three boys and laying under the stars with them to share things is something that I would like to do. I am learning to be more intentional in all I do with God’s help.

  75. As a law enforcement I love to read and gain insight and knowledge on how to minister to to myself and the broken lives I encounter daily . Encouraging the next person is always rewarding. I give my books away after I read them.

  76. As I sit here in a motel far from home, I opened my IPad and was thinking I’d just do a random search on Google to see what The Lord had for me today. I actually found this wonderful devotional you had written!! I have been struggling with fear and insecurity about the future and all the “what ifs.” I would love to have a copy of your book! May Jesus bless you as you bless others with your words inspired and directed by the Awesome Holy Spirit!!

  77. Diane Betton says:

As I continue to look forward to all God has in store for me I am awaiting the time in which I can relocate to Seattle Washington. I’m looking forward to God redeeming his promises to me and I know once I leave I’ll appreciate having a “friend” to remind me, encourage me and motivate me as I continue on my journey. This book would serve as a friend.

  78. I needed these words this morning. I would like to read the book as having g Faith for the outcome of my health issues, marriage issues and worries about my children, seem to assault .y mind each day. Sometimes, I just cry b/c I’m so weary and the physical pain can be so bad, that even meds barely take the edge off. Yet, I have been truly working on rating, and having even a small seed of faith. I sometimes ask God to please carry me, ’cause w/o Him, I won’t be able to go on. What comfort, you stated, God holds the stars, He holds me.

  79. Michelle Jones says:

Thank you for the beautiful reminder.
When my Laura was born 8 weeks early, a sweet chaplain came to the NICU asking if she could pray with me. After the prayer she left me with this verse: psalm 46:10. Be still, and know that I am God.
I have always believed in God, but at that time I was not a follower. I didn’t quite understand.
My Laura is 11 now. She was 2lbs at birth and is as normal as any other kid. She loves her Jesus and anyone she meets. While I remind myself “Mama, be still.”

  80. Love what this boo, is about. We all need a reminder of hope. God is with us always.. NO MATTER what we or the world is going through. We are in a fallen world. there are no surprises to God. He’s got us all in the palm of His hands. He has conquered and will make all things new again! We just need to hang onto Him during the journey!

  81. I would love the book. Such a great testimony.

  82. After seven years of resisting God’s plan for my life, I am finally embracing it full-heartedly. Talk about stubborn! Replacing the lies of our world with God’s absolute truths is a daily process that I have to be reminded of. When the Bible and Christians talk about “denying yourself and taking up your cross daily”, I always thought it was because they were so much more mature than me (or a “better Christian” if you will) and now I know from personal experience the real meaning of this…it is a daily STRUGGLE and you constantly have to deny your worldly longings in order to see God’s path for your life. I keep praying and focusing on having an eternal perspective but the temporary is so flashy! I feel the need to pull away from life so I can refocus. This is why the bible says to “pray continuously”. It is so easy to get distracted by this life that we lose sight of why we’re even here. BTW, I’d love to read a copy of “Own Your Life”!!!!!

  83. I would love this book! Thank you for your devotions, they are always just what I need!

  84. Thank you for the encouragement! I pray that I can be as intentional with my daughter as you are with yours! Your book sounds like a great place to start!

  85. Thank you for the words today. I began this year determined to live more intentionally and of course there are road blocks that keep getting in my way. I know that God has got this for me and I just need to keep looking to Him, knowing He has held the stars all these many years and He will continue to hold and carry me through as well.

  86. Fear has always been a stronghold in my life. Both Joshua 1:9 and Isaiah 41:10 are verses I have cried out.
I would be blessed beyond measure to receive a copy of Own Your Life. I long to break the shackles of fear and truly walk in God’s victory!

  87. Thank you SO much for your daily encouragement devotionals. They are such a blessing. I love sharing them.

  88. Sandra Welch says:

A friend of mine just lost her husband to cancer. It was a tough battle, and she is left with a 17 and a 13 year old to raise. I think this book would be a perfect gift for her. I was truly touched, too, by the words of this devotional! My mom was diagnosed 3 yrs. ago with vascular dementia. I have to keep my eyes on God, or I can get very afraid and anxious about her condition. Thank u for sharing this. God has truly spoken through it!

  89. WHAT a beautiful, timely message! Would love to read the book and then pass it on!

  90. Jeanie Killian says:

What a timely devotion. I am a public school teacher as well as a pastor’s wife.
I would love to have this book as a resource that I could use for the many people who I come cross daily that forget how faithful God is. The days we live in are very frightening, but with every fiber in my soul I try daily to cast my eyes on the God that was with Joshua and Caleb as they entered the promise land. Again I would love to win a copy of this book to pass along to the many I meet that need the message. Thanks for using your gift of writing. The many who read this book will be reassured that our God is Forever Faithful.

  91. Sonja harpe says:

I enjoyed this devotional so much, it helps we keep my eyes on Jesus.

  92. This was an important devotion for me today. As I suddenly have found myself separated from my husband who I was married to for almost 33 yrs but has known me for 42’out of my 53 years, trying not to be afraid but trusing in God. Then, I lost my job after 33 yrs. I am trying not to look at the dark side. Thanks!

  93. Well, that was powerful! I recently lost a career through circustances that i had little control over. That was about a year ago and i’m still struggling with it today. Yesterday, at church, i realized that the loss of that career was a fear i was holding on to. You post reiterated that thought. Guess i have some work to do 🙁

  94. This book looks so inspiring and uplifting!

  95. 5 years ago our family moved 25 miles from NYC and our nightly news came from NYC. I went from hearing about one murder every couple of months to hearing reporting of multiple murders each day. Our home contained an alarm system and I came from the Midwest where many people don’t even lock their doors at home. Fear started to creep into my mind as I struggled to adjust to metropolitan life. Currently I continue to work on giving my fears to the God who put the stars in place. He is leading me to personally reach out to young moms and college students. I am putting my trust in God’s word to continually grow my faith in his sovereign plan for each person in my family and those he places in my path. The verses posted are the exact ones I quote when fear creeps in my mind. If I were to win a book I would share it with my small group ladies. I invited them to watch the webcast in December when the book was released.

  96. Heather J. says:

I want to live with intentionality! Wonderful devotion. Thank you.

  97. Thank you for these Scriptures and this meditation. I would love to read your book.

I live in fear because of abuse and violence in marriage. As a child my heart once knew joy, hope, and peace. Now I scan the world for dangers and worry professionally about all that might cause harm or ruin because of the violence I cannot forget. Five years of Christian counseling have finally given me a voice. Courage and strength are still in short supply–fear is my companion. I must daily set my concerns and worries in God’s hands and count upon the protection of holy angels with whom God surrounds this family.

After sexual violation by a youth worker on my teen years, and as a divorced adult, more than once, the church has been a place of shame and humiliation. I long to feel at home and safe and welcomed among the people of God, the family of faith. Sexual and emotional abuse in marriage are invisible. No one knows the cause of my “irrational” fears and my lack of trust in other people. I have been criticized, mocked, shamed and cursed publicly by my ex-husband and by more than one pastor. Being a woman in a world dominated by an angry man and his friends is a terrible thing.

I believe that Jesus came to preach freedom to captives, hope to sinners, justice to the downtrodden, and equality to people enslaved. May all Christian homes reflect Jesus’ love, may hearts be healed of pain, and angels protect our families.

    • Thank you for sharing this email. My daughter is a survivor of domestic violence in her first marriage. Her abuser was a youth leader and worship leader in their church. The pastor supported him 100 % even after hearing the horrible details of sexual, emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual abuse. She nearly died in this marriage. The church turned their backs on her, the pastor told her to go back and try harder, the police came back saying “”What a nice guy””. Finally God delivered her and has helped me forgive this evildoer. All that happened to her has led her to the miracle of today where she is married to a loving, kind, gentle man who adores her and her precious, wonderful first child after years of wanting to get pregnant. God is amazing. We are so blessed. I pray to continue to see the big picture with the current trial I am facing in my own life. Blessings on you. Sharron

  98. Shirley Smedley-Theiss says:

  99. Beth Doucet says:

What a wonderful message! With all the ugly that is going on in the world we do tend to forget to keep our eyes focused on The One who holds it all together! I don’t know how people live without The Lord, it’s hard enough when you know He is on your side!

  100. Thank you, Sally. How we all need to hear this message each and every day! Blessings to you.

  102. Thank you for this great reminder of how great our God is and He is in control of all of our circumstances, one day at a time. I choose to be faithful and I pray God gives me the strength through my sickness to continue to serve Him and encourage others and be a Light for Him. I pray He gives me wisdom as I study His Word each day and He guides me and I follow. This is the day the LORD has made and I will be glad and rejoice in it! The God who holds the stars, hold me!

  115. Amanda Davidson says:

The moment fear, worry, anxiety or anything that distracts my vision from God’s truth, I come unraveled and feel like a painful mess. 149. My name is Marge Long, I am a missionary to Central America. My husband and I have been on the field with our children for nearly 10 years now. Our youngest daughter transitioned back stateside and is attending university. Now all our children are here in the USA. We are on sabbatical till May and I thought this book would be a great encouragement to me before we head back into the jungle. I struggled with a lot of fear after my children left our host country. We live an hour off road and sometimes we have an internet signal and sometimes not! No phone connection and the enemy used this as a way to build fear in me that my children were going to need me and I wouldn’t be available. I have since come to understand that no matter where I am, my children may need me and I may not be available. However God is always available to us!! This has strengthened their dependence on the Lord as well as mine. Thank you for the devotional and I pray I am selected to win the book. I’m believing God will use it in my heart as we head back soon.

  150. Thank You for this inspirational message. My son is a senior and will be heading to college in the fall. As much as he is filled with excitement, anxiety and fear, I am also. I to must share wlth my son that God is always there.

  152. One of my favorite authors really likes this book. Anything book that draws me closer to God is definitely worth reading. 🙂

  153. I was so touched waking up this morning to read this devotion today! I have two wonderful children whom amaze me everyday. I am a Christian but I struggle with fear and hold us back from doing things bc I’m so paralyzed with the fear of something happening to my children. I am working on letting all of that fear go and trust that God will take care of us and he has a plan for us, I really need to learn how to live an intentional life and this book is a great place to start. I am also in an organization with about 60 other moms and I think this would be a great study for us to do as a group. I would love to offer this book to them and myself to go through as a group and discuss so we can help more women at once then just me. We are currently in the process to figure out our next book as a group and I think this would be a great fit! There are so many of us that are Christians living in fear especially as newer mothers and we need to learn how to live intentionally, it is so important that we can learn to trust God and truly follow him and live out the plans that he has in store for us. I would be so blessed to win this book so I can not only learn from it but share it with the other mothers in my organization and bless them as well! This is a gift that keeps on giving in the name and honor of our holy Father! Dear Heavenly Father, I would like to take the time to pray for all of us that are struggling with fear. I pray that you would help all of us relaese the fears we are holding on to you and let you take care of them and have us put our trust in you and let you guide us and help us to lead intentional lives that are serving you in Jesus name Amen.

  154. What a calming place when I keep in the Hands of Jesus. I would give this book to my daughter who struggles with her bi-polar, her six year old autistic son and most importantly, she is struggling with her relationship with Christ.

Thank you for sharing this article on the peace we have in our Lord.

  155. Teresa Draper says:

The night skies always bring me closer to God and display His majesty. During the long, difficult days, I confess that I am separated from the peacefulness that’s I find under the stars. I seek a closer walk with God and love when my reading brings me to the mercy throne where I can cling to God’s faithfulness. He promises to meet me there. I will wait and will not fear. He will not forsake me. I want to walk with that serenity when I step into real life, but life is surreal and breaks my heart day by day.

  162. I have lately become so much more aware of the impact I can and do have just in my everyday life. I don’t have to go to another country to win souls for Christ or make a difference. Everywhere I go, I am on the lookout for people to offer prayer for and love like Jesus.

  163. I look forward to your words of encouragement as they are a great reminder to me of what is important in a world that tries to smother God with all of it’s busyness. Thank you for the reminder that God is in control, that he holds the stars in place, that he will direct my paths if I will only follow. I would love a copy of your book to start my every day with a reminder from the word of God, that my purpose is to display him.

  164. Rebecca Hott says:

For my daughter Sarah. She is a college student, who just changed her major and has a heart for victims of the sex trade. She went to Cambodia last year and hopes to return but has doubts since she has to make a living. She needs support showing we can live our everyday lives with purpose.

This has resulted in the issue becoming larger and larger. The devotional on today gives me courage to move beyond my fear, taking the first step on this morning. Thank you so much for sharing

  170. I have struggled with fear my whole life. As I have grown in the Lord I succumb less and less and rest more in His power and Words. I would give the book to my grown but younger sisters to share.

Your insight and wisdom are a light to many. God is surely using you to let us know that He is holding us in His hands. I would love further reading on this subject. God bless you as you are blessing so many others, as evident by the numerous comments.

  177. I’d enjoy a copy of the book too. What is the purpose of our life if not to serve God? I want to be more mindful of the big picture and less mindful of the daily hassles that prevent me from keeping a clear focus.

She named it, ” True Spirit of Home.” I would love to share Sally’s book with Amy as a reminder of God’s presence wherever she goes.

  180. Lynne Sanders says:

This was such an appropriate devotion this morning. I thought about the black cat that crossed my path last night as I ran an errand to a friend’s home. How that image kept returning last night and into this morning giving me uneasiness and fear.. Isn’t it silly that the image of a black cat crossing the road can effect me so much that I am nervous through out the day, yet the image of the clear night sky last night is a passing image. That I would be nervous this morning with my girls driving to work and my son in law and grandson starting their journey for work and babysitters. I am so grateful of Proverbs 31. This devotion really helped me to turn my heart and trust to God. Thank you

  181. I would love a copy of this book. I feel like the majority of time I am treading water, waiting for direction.

  182. I would love a copy of this book. Most of the time I feel like I am treading water, waiting for direction.

  183. Amanda Sherman says:

I really enjoyed Today’s devotional. My daughter and I have a very similar relationship. We would love to read Sally’s book together. Thank you.

  184. God has such perfect timing. I have let the news-of-the-day effect my faith and prayer life. I awoke this morning with that “doom and gloom” feeling hanging around like an unwanted pest. I decided to visit Bible Gateway and one click lead to another. Thank you for this message and reminder of who and where I am to look to.

  185. I would love a copy of this book~ Fear will paralyze you! Inspirational and Uplifting-Thank you

  186. Nickie Moseley says:

After a painful church friendship gone bad, husbands disrespectful coworker, some life changes to be made – I literally feel I’m losing it with my already super insecure self & the devil is having a party in my thought system to the point I feel I need medication & sometimes think bad thoughts 🙁 I need direction & confidence to be stronger & let go of the controls & let God handle me …. Pray it daughter stays strong & is a blessing to many – wow what confidence & strength YOU had to handle that so well!!!

  187. michelle meriweather says:

This was just the inspiration I needed for my current situation. Thank you for blessing me with your words!

  188. This was exactly what I needed to hear this morning! Praise God, he’s always “right on time”!

  189. So thankful for your wisdom based on a God’s truth! How sweet these words are as I scramble to find meaning in the craziness of this season I’m in. Would love a copy of Sally’s book!

  190. We all want to be encouraged to find our place, make wise choices, and learn to be Godly women. Women mentoring women is a powerful thing. God designed us this way. Currently, I am mentoring high school children, my own children and am teaming up with a Christian friend to mentor women in our church. I would love this book as a resource to help faithfully serve God and His people.

  191. Love to read your devotionals. I believe the message is what God sends each day. At almost 65 I would love to read the book Own your life. It would be a wonderful legacy to pass down to my daughter and granddaughters.

  192. Amber Rhodes says:

    Mrs. Clarkson,
Thank you so much for those words of encouragement. It is such an awe-inspiring feeling to know that God holds me in His hand is constantly watching over me. My mom gets the Proverbs 31 Ministries daily devotionals and I look forward to reading each one every day. As always, the devotional today was very touching and I know God is with me. He is such an awesome God and I have been feeling that I haven’t given my whole life to Him in some areas. I feel so much closer to Him when I realize this and talk to Him about it. I am striving to learn more about my God and incorporate Him in my life. I would love to get a copy of your book to use during my devotion time each morning. Thank you for your service to Christ!
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

  193. Unfortunately, I am halfway through life and have only recently realized my failure to be intentional. I have been blessed recently by encounters with young people just getting married, and they have been so intentional about things I just never thought of. I’d love to have your book and figure out how I can move forward at this point in life.

  194. I would love to give this book to my sister who struggles with living in the darkness. Your words of encouragement today seemed to written for her! She does not have a PC or an electronic device to receive these Daily Devotions, so the book would be perfect for her!
    Blessings to you.

  195. Randomly pick me! 2 weeks ago I “moved on” from a 28 year career with one company. I’d love your ideas in “Own Your Life” as I look forward to the future, totally new and fresh!

  196. I just had a birthday and have been down. At 45 I feel like I’ve lived my life meeting the needs of others and have neglected my own. I need to own the life ?God has given me. Thank you for this message today.

  197. Chaos seems to define me right now. I don’t feel like I have ever owned my life. I would love to live with intentionality and purpose for His glory.

  198. I just recently found Sally’s blog. Her words are so convicting and filled with truth. I would love to win Own Your Life for myself.

  199. Excellent devotional today – thank you! To Stephanie, who wrote about her husband of 17 years who has been unfaithful – I am so sorry that you are in pain today. I understand, having been in a similar situation with my husband of 26 years. I wish I could hug you now but even better, I will pray for you. God will carry you, He will bring you joy again, and He loves you more than anyone on earth ever can! We can’t change anyone – we can only change who we are – and only by His strength. Keep looking to God for His leadership and wisdom, He will direct your paths.

  200. Lori Symes says:

Beautifully said, sounds like the book will be very inspiring and encouraging.

  201. After my husband became confused about his feelings for me and our 29 year marriage, I have released control of our marriage to God. Living with ‘intent’ is something I’m learning every day while receiving His grace and mercy! The days are tough but I know He has good plans for me! The challenge is to not forget that!!

  202. Carmon Feldhacker says:

I have a friend going through a hard time in her marriage. She has recently received Christ into her life and I am certain your book could help her at this time in her life. Thank you.

  203. Sara Veloz says:

I would love a copy of this book, My husband struggles with trusting and believing in the lord, I would love to read this book with him so that he can change his way of thinking. thank you so much

  204. Christy R. says:

I would love a copy of Own Your Life. I’m constantly trying to live up to what God has for me and pursuing it. I want what God has for me and to follow him as his servant. I know the principles Sally mentions in this devotional and her book would help me grow even more.

  205. Diane Ouart says:

Thank you for the devotional this morning. Looking at the sky at night has always been something I enjoy and you added another reason to embrace my enjoyment of the world God has provided.

  206. In light of daily news of evil and having no control, this would be a good book to balance and tip the reality towards our God. I would like to read this book, for sure 🙂

  207. Oh how soothing and uplifting. I desire to be the grandmother that God intends for me to be. I would love to read your book to own my life for me and them!

  208. Octavia starbuck says:

This was so encouraging this morning to me. I would like to receive this book to send to a young woman who has just been released on parole. She needs this encouragement and the knowledge that God holds her in his hands through the ordeals she now faces each day to find work, pay fees due to her incarceration, housing, health care, food, I’m sure it is so overwhelming for her and this book can help her overcome those fears and put them in God’s hands.

  209. the message of this devotional is very timely in my life today. you see God has shown me great things He wants to do in my life. But a person from the past has tried to come back into my life after I have already closed that door last year. I know that part of God’s plan includes not letting this person back into my life. It is hard but I know I have to complete the action of closing that door toda. I believe this has been a test from God to be used to strengthen m trust and faith in Him. to be able to move forward into this next phase of my life. this devotional has reassured me and brought calm and peace to my soul about this decision. thank you!

  210. I need to decide where to go next and feel alone in the decision. I’m an older single (40s) and my family circumstances have changed much. I don’t have a sense of where I belong or where I should be investing. At the same time, before I can do anything I need to absorb His love for myself…and not sure how. It seems like I never figured out how to own my life. The Do Not Fear message is one that I could hear over and over and over again…when will I be the one giving it to someone else? I like this picture of mother and daughter and hope to have a special relationship like this one.

  211. Thank you for your inspiration today. A good reminder of how personal our God is.

  212. Thank you for this beautiful reminder of how big our God is and yet how personal! I’d love to read the book and pass it on!

  213. Stacey Cunningham says:

Thank you for this beautiful devotional. We all need to be reminded of God’s amazing love for us during these troublesome times. I am interested in the book to help myself as well as my family.

  214. All it takes lately is a snowstorm (AGAIN) to make fear and anxiety steal my peace. Lord, grow my faith and trust in you!!!

  215. Thank you, Sally, for your devotional and Scripture today which I’ve been memorizing just recently. It is a confirmation of what God has been trying to get across to me this past week–to not fear taking a ministry trip with my husband which the Lord has put on his heart. Fears about this trip have caused me to drag my feet for the past several months, and I really have not wanted to go–all because of fear! I hope that the window of opportunity hasn’t passed for this trip. Thank you, again, for the reminder in Joshua 1:9 to not be afraid that God will be with me wherever I go.

  216. Over the course of two years I read “the mission of motherhood” and found it very encouraging and helpful (this is an understatement – it changed the course of our days). I am a first generation Christian mother with three younglings and we are learning what it means to trust the LORD with all of our hearts, minds and strength. We are in the process of relocating (off to see a possible new home today) and I am feeling quite nervous about the move. This particular home has a special little hideaway room with a spiral staircase that would be perfect for our oldest and I was imagining decorating it with those little glow in the dark stars and I see how I can write The Word in and amongst the stars for her so she reads it before she falls asleep every single night. Even so, if we end up buying this new property and moving to a new community which is immensely different than what we know, I need to not just decorate her room, but I need to fill my heart with these same truths and leave my anxiousness in His hands and embrace the grand adventure that awaits us. This was another great share from Sally Clarkson. Thank you!

  217. Carmen Bankhead says:

My Narcissistic ex husband has destroyed my life, and with lies and manipulations, he gained sole custody of our daughter. I have no strength left to continue in this ridiculous battle. I tried to be an intentional Christian wife, mother, but I married the wrong person and now I can’t be the mother of my little girl.

  218. This is a timely message for me today! I quit my job due to the store will be selling Beer, Wine and other alcoholic beverages, the Spirit led me to give my 2 weeks notice and that is exactly what I told them. I am a divorced, single woman of 54 now without a stream of provision. I go today to look into going back to school, because I am led to do so. I trust God will provide. I am excited and scared at the same time. But, I question how will my bills get paid on time, how will my car get fixed, etc. I know that if He calls me out to do His will He will provide! I am filling out applications for work. But so far God has said “no” not that one! So, thank you for this message! If He created each of the stars and knows them by name then He will take care of me!

  219. Jan Hunnicutt says:

Thank you for the encouraging words today, God’s Truth. Our family is going through a challenging time, I’m doing my best to keep my focus on God, not the things happening around me. When I do I have His peace, He is faithful. I’d love to win your new book and be inspired to keep making changes and moving forward. Thanks!

  220. Brenda Schiesser says:

Sally, big (((HUGS))) as you let your daughter go into a world filled with things to be afraid of. Bless you for sending her off with such love and truth. I would love to have a copy of your book.

  221. I would love to read the book. I could really use the encouragement right now. Nothing is going as planned and I am trying really hard to understand what God has in store for my family through all this!

  222. What a wonderful message. It is uplifting to the soul when we live in such a dark and scary world. I love how Max Lucado says it, ” Feed your fears and your faith will starve. Feed your faith and your fears will starve.” I would love to own another book by Sally Clarkson. She is such an inspiration.

  223. Donna Bliss says:

For my sister as she struggles to understand the purpose and plan God has designed for her life. To quench the lie she hears from the enemy and illuminate the truth who knew her before time.

  224. Linda Smith says:

Thank you so much for the encouraging words today. For over 2 years I have been dealing with “why bad things happen to good people” and then this past week my sister surprised me with some accusations. It seemed so much was wrong. I needed to be reminded that God has it all under control, all of the time. Would love to win your new book.

  225. I would love to own this book, and learn to own my life! Loved this devotional! It’s so comforting to know that God is with us wherever we go, through whatever we face. Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorite verses! If you keep focused on God, his strength and power will uplift you.

  226. God’s faithfulness has carried me through a cancer diagnosis 9 yrs. ago, of which has been a constant battle the past 5 yrs. Some days I’m weary, some days I’m strong. I could use some fresh inspiration. Thank you for the opportunity.

  227. I have been trying to speak these truths into my own daughter. God has placed her at her college to take back the territory and live out her faith in her community. Some times I am at a loss for words to encourage her. Thank you Lord for speaking through Sally. Let Katie continue to look to you, trust in you, and live in your reality.

  228. I surely need this book as I journey on this new chapter of owning my life and living intentional. For so long I have lived for everyone else but myself. I have taken great leaps of faith by moving to a new state, and now leaping into a new career. I know this book will be a great guide and source of encouragement and power. Thanks!!

  229. Cindy Johnson says:

I am interested in the book because I’m going through a period of the blahs and indifference.

  230. Good Morning…to the lady named Christyal..who is in law enfocement…i have been handing out plastic colored crosses to law enforcement wherever & whenever i come across them to say thank you for their service…if you happen to go thru & read all these posts..i would be happy to send a couple to you…one for your policecar & one for your personal car if you have one as well…let me know…Christyal…thank you again for your service…kathy wyg…kindly e-mail me if you would like them…thank you

everyone have a blessed day…..kathy wyg

  231. This was a very good and comforting devotion. The reminder that God’s got this life! No matter what the circumstances around us, He has a plan for our lives and we are to trust that plan every day of our lives. Even when it’s “scary” and the world seems to be getting worse, God is the one who is ultimately in control and even down to the every day details of our lives. I’m amazed every single day that I serve the God of the universe and that He doesn’t need me, He WANTS me! Would love to have the book Own Your Life as I mentor 6 women through the struggles of this life. Thank you for sharing this devotion with us!

  232. What an ideal book to gift my daughter who has, at 19 faced all too many dissapointmdnts of lost dreams and failed friendships. She lacks trust in most people her age and fears hef future.
It is difficult to encourage her as she finds flaws with every positive word.

  233. Hi, I desire to live a life of impact! Would love to read this book to glean from Sally’s experience. Thanks!

  234. Mary Albritton says:

I need to Own My Life instead of letting Satan own my life. That’s why I would like to have this book, to help me realize that I can own my life!

  235. I have my own copy of Sally’s book. I’ve been inspired for the last twenty years or so as I homeschooled my dear daughters. Sally was like a friend at my breakfast table each morning as I prepared my heart and lesson plans for the coming day. I knew Own Your Life was yet again divinely inspired.

I have a dear friend who is struggling so very deeply with her marriage. More disconcerting is her struggle with her and her husbands Faith. I would love to pass on a copy to my sister in Christ, I’m afraid mine is already too “highlighted, noted and tear-stained” to pass on. Nor do I think I would give up my copy because I know I will pour over it again. God is so good.

  236. Kimberly Parker says:

This book would help me become a stronger women in Christ!

  237. What a blessing to have that close a relationship with your daughter. I would read the book and then pass it on!

  238. I would share this with my son Mark who has been pursuing a dream for the last three years but now it seems like the door has shut in his face and he doesn’t know what to does not seem like a good place at present time.

  239. I would love a copy of this book. I too am struggling with some personal issues at home. As a leader in the church, I have to be very careful what I share and with whom. I am the one most turn to with their own life issues. God called me to this ministry and God equips each day to handle the situations presented to me. However, when it comes to my own life, I am very guarded. I would like to read this book for myself and to strengthen myself in my ministry.

  240. My son recently finished boot camp & is expecting to deploy later this year. I’m so proud of him, yet I remain his mama that has protected & nurtured him these past 18 years. Reading this article I see I am not alone. I would enjoy the book as encouragement throughout this season in my family.

  241. This devotion spoke to my heart. Thank you so much for sharing. What a wonderful, Godly mother and example of Faith for your daughter. God Bless you both 🙂

    • And would love the book! I’m going through some very dark times in my family life. I want to be the example to my children, that you were to your dtr. I want to left Him up in the midst of every trial and fear!

  242. Holly Dangerfield says:

The words “intentional life” really stood out to me. I would like to learn what that looks like. I feel like I just exist with no real purpose – a spiritual misfit, if you would. I don’t want to just be flapping my wings around; I want to make a difference with my life. Perhaps this book can help me with that. Thanks for your consideration.

  243. That was absolutely lovely Sally. Thank you for the image, for the mothering.

  244. Jeanie Benson says:

This was a great devotion and a great reminder. I have been praying lately for direction and what God would have or me to do. I know for years I have ran from Him but now I want to stop running and intentionally do what He wants me to. I would love to read her book.

Thank you and good luck to her daughter!!

  245. For the past seven months my imagination has run wild with this ISIS and how rapidly this reign of terror has grown and continue to grow….I’m worried for the future of my 7 year old child, what will become of him…i dnt want him to fear the way i fear…i dnt want him to worry about being persecuted for his faith…what is going to become of my country? My mind goes a million miles an hr…i know scripture says to focus on what is good and true….but this paralyzes me to the point it drains my hope, faith, everything….I’m almost at the point of being inconsolable…

  246. What an encouragement to be reminded that God is in control. I’ll never look at the stars the same way again. They have been a testimony to God’s faithfulness throughout all of history! My husband has cancer and is soon retiring early because he can no longer do his job, my mom has dementia and is declining mentally. She needs reminders and assistance for her daily activities some days. The goal is to keep her in her home as long as possible. I have two sons in the military, one deployed in the middle east again. I help with child care for several of our grandchildren. It is sometimes difficult to not be overwhelmed by fear. I feel like my life has been taken over by everyone else on many days. To live intentionally, showing God’s love and faithfulness in the midst of my daily responsibilities instead of feeling like I stumble from one to the next would be a blessing to me and those around me. I desire to show God’s faithfulness, hope and peace to those around me. I want to be an encourager to those around me. I think when the snow melts, I’ll gather the grandchildren and some blankets and spend some time under the stars, sharing God’s faithfulness.

  247. Thanks for your encouraging words. As a single mom, I could use this book to help me better mother my pre teen son. I will certainly pass it on to a few coworkers who could also use some encouragement.

  248. Marywhite griffith says:

Sally, thank you so much for all the time you put into encouragement of us mothers, sending us blog posts, writing books and giving free videos like the launch of Own Your Life with SaraMae and your dear friends (That video was a turning point for me and has been the start of some amazing changes in my life) I thank you for your heart for service and your gentle, compassionate spirit – so rare in these days where criticism and judgement are the norm. You have been such a blessing to me as I have scoured your website for help with my two out of the box, OCD, Attachment Disorder incredibly gifted children. I can’t wait till I can buy your husbands book on discipline, but I have already implemented everything I have found on your web site and Sara Maes website and saw the most astounding transformation after leaving the “traditional methods of discipline” which were slowly hardening the hearts of my precious children and further pushing them away from the Heavenly Father as well as from my husband and I. When you launched Own Your Life, I was at a new cross roads, and very burned out. biblical raising of children is SO emotionally draining because instead of just spanking and reproving you are going after the heart and that takes all day sometimes late into the night (my kids had severe sleeping disorders so they never slept more than 20-30 min at a time and screamed and smashed their heads the rest of the night until they would pass out from exhaustion for a half hour… Pretty much I slept a total of 3 hours combined every 24 hour period for the first 5 years of motherhood) after finally saving enough money to go to a specialist and finding out there were some serious health issues causing the sleep problems, my children are finally sleeping! So, although they are much better, I still have been so drained and have been doing nothing to fill back up spiritually and emotionally. I felt that It would be wrong to do anything that I love (ministering through writing music, singing and playing the piano, helping people with nutrition, serving other mothers by helping lift their burdens, reading good books, having quiet time in solitude before the Father) I thought I had to spend 100% of me 24/7 and that was my calling as a mother and wife. Needless to say, I was BURNED OUT and exhausted. I was desperate, and determined to watch your official launch video. I literally carried my iPad from room to room as I was putting kids in bed it. Bedtime consists of a two hour ordeal of snacks, water, bathing, dressing, putting on essential oils, cuddling, reading books, more snuggles praying and repeating over again. I felt guilty for dividing my attention between them and the video, but as tears were running down my face I didn’t care that it was past their bedtime and we hadn’t read books yet. I just snuggled my children, postponed bedtime and listened and the Father spoke to my heart. Since that night, I plan for one small time a day to fill back up by doing something that fills me with joy and passion. There is no guilt, for I realize HE wants me to be rejuvenated. Every day is different. Some days filling up is just being quiet (strange, because I am a total sanguine) sometimes it is talking on the phone during nap time and encouraging someone or helping them with health issues. (This might sound like an strange way to fill up, but helping other mothers is one of my passions and actually fills my joy tank to overflowing!) some days I just go somewhere to see a friend for a play date and fellowship. But whatever I do to rejuvenate my soul is now guilt free and I have been dancing on the clouds for weeks! I am going to start playing the piano again with our worship team at church once every month or two. Just the thought fills me with delight. I stopped years ago because I felt doing something that I loved was wrong when I had such pressing and consuming responsibilities at home. I always thought serving God meant doing the most miserable things all the time and never doing anything that brought me joy. Now, I see the beauty of serving the Father. even Jesus took his disciples away into the wilderness to be refreshed. What a beautiful picture that in the wilderness there were opportunities for service AFTER they had been refreshed. the 5,000 came to hear Jesus (not the disciples) and when they got hungry the Savior had the disciples distribute the loaves and fishes that HE blessed and multiplied. It was all the work of Jesus and the disciples got the privilege to have a small part. I am finding that when I don’t fill up my soul tank, it is all ME doing the work that results in getting worn out and exhausted and unable to accomplish my duties with peace and clearness of mind. but when I take a break and follow the Savior to the beautiful wilderness to let Him fill my soul, it becomes HIM who does the work and the miracles and I get the joy of being part of HIS plan. (Not mine) 🙂

Thank you for leading me into the light and helping me own my life. I hope I win your book…it would be amazing to read more than the first chapter and get more insight on owning my life!! I would have already purchased, but We just lost our home due to severe mold infestation so money is rather non existent while trying to find somewhere to rent. lol every week I put the your book in the shopping cart and every week something comes up. If I do win I will certainly be passing the book on to dear friends who I have already been sharing the principles and launch video with. Own your life is making a difference here in SC! Thank you from the bottom of my heart and blessings to you and your family as you continue to follow and serve our Father!

  249. O how God knows me so well and knows exactly what I need to hear right when I need to hear it! Thank you for allowing Him to use you to speak to me! I’m also about to embark on a new adventure. It’s not to some foreign country and actually I have family in the area. But for me that can actually be more frightening. In the past I’ve gone to new places where I either knew no one or very few people. I could kind of fade in and out of the background in those places. Only putting myself out there when I was ready. And if I failed or made a mistake, at least no one I knew would really ever have to find out about it unless I told them. Anonymity was my security and safety. But this new adventure is different and there is high probability of mistakes and challenges a head…growing pains as you will. There’s also no plan B so I am having to put a lot of faith in God which is not something that comes easily to me. This is really all up to Him because there’s not a lot I can do, but follow His lead. Thankfully He is faithful always. To this truth I cling.

  250. Thank you for the encouragement! I needed the reminder that “the God who holds the stars holds me!” I would love a copy of the book to read and share with my cell group at church.

  251. This wonderful reminder of God’s sovereignty brought tears to my eyes! It was perfectly timed for me!

  252. Thank you for these words and the beautiful prayer. I am so lost but try to do what the Lord wants me to do. My life really is a mess and I want so much to serve Him the best I can. I would love to read the rest of this book. And how funny, not long after I got saved I decided I didn’t want to be an ‘Eeyore Christian’!

  253. Just simply I needed this!

  254. The Lord gave me a new job..and with this come more responsibility and demands. I am aware of the pressure so I need to keep my eyes on the Lord and remember that HE will help me and help me to succeed for HIS glory. Not by might not by power but by MY might says the Lord. Thank you again for yr encouraging words!

  255. Sandie Olson says:

Thank you for this devotion this morning: My business is struggling, and I’m facing losing my position that I worked for 20 years to achieve; The Encouragement for Today devotions from Proverbs 31 always help, as yours did today, reminding me that God is with me and in control.

  256. Kathy Loggins says:

Beautiful encouragement! I would love to give this book to my 20 something daughter who is beginning her independendent adult life as a teacher, youth group leader and daughter of the most high God! To help her know beyond knowing that she is secure in her Heavenly Father’s hands. Thanks for the opportunity to gift this to her.

  257. Heidi Graham says:

Joshua 1:9 became my life verse thru my husbands two strokes at age 38. I am now holding out this verse to my best friend who is battling breast cancer. God’s sovereignty and faithfulness are true and reliable. If I receive this book, it will be given to my friend….she is an avid reader and I want to give her words of encouragement to own her life!

  258. Thank you so much for your words today. I am struggling to stay strong in the light amidst the darkness around me. I needed to hear from God in a powerful way today and you brought truth to my soul. Wow. I will guard it in my heart.

  259. Oh, how I needed to hear this and my sweet daughter needed this today!! She was upset about feeling all alone! I love God’s perfect timing!

  260. I struggle day to day, because I was raised to read the news and to be informed about what’s happening in the world… but there are days when it’s so difficult. Terrorist, murders, crime running rampant – it’s soul crushing. (I often say that I wish there was a news channel that only covered ponies, unicorns and rainbows!)
But Sally’s words – “through wars, tragedies, sadness and disasters of every kind. Not one year of our history has shaken the power or control of God” – rang SO true for me! I’ve no doubt that the Lord himself spoke through Sally and touched this news junkie’s heart. 🙂

  261. Thanks for the devotional. And I am very interested in the book, “Own Your Life”. I have been praying that ever since I did a study with Beth Moore (can’t remember the name of it). It shows how the Israelites in the desert didn’t own what was theirs because of fear…fear kept them out of the Promised Land. The Lord is our Promised Land, our portion and I want to have Him own every part of me, the property He’s given me in this body, mind and spirit.

  262. Thank you for that truth of Faith overcoming Fear.

  263. I’d love to win a copy of your new book because several years ago I read Mission of Motherhood and began drinking my cup of tea each afternoon, thanking God for this cup He’s given me. Today I am truly thankful for my cup runneth over;although, it hasn’t always felt that way. I’m hoping for more nuggets of wisdom through your story.

  264. I suffer from Agoraphobia and I feel that this book would help encourage me to hang on.

  265. Michelle B. says:

I want to lead a life of impact. I want to always focus on God and not the world around me. I know I have to work on this daily, sometimes by the hour, praying constantly. Thank you for this devotional today, it was beautiful and whispered wonderful words of wisdom into my day. Thank you. And thank you for the opportunity to win your book. I would love to read it.

  266. I loved this devotional! Excited for the chance to trust God’s timing as I embark on my first mission trip this spring to Cambodia. Thanks for sharing.

  267. Just received This devotional message from a friend on FB. Enjoyed the reading and uplift! Would love to acquire a copy of her new book to discover gods refreshing because he is new every day!

  268. I just wanted to say thank you for your encouragment today through this devotional. Our family has been under attack for sometime now. God is greater and we are clinging to His promises. Blessings to you.

  269. If I won, I would give “Own Your Life” to my youngest child and only daughter who will graduate from high school in June. She has been accepted to several colleges in New England and plans to matriculate in the fall. After a recent college overnight stay in Boston, she tearfully confessed that the transition to college life will be very difficult for her as she had witnessed first hand the darkness that envelops campus life. Her fear is that she will be alone in a new environment, without family or friends, in which the Prince of Darkness reigns and rules. Among other things, I reassured her that God is with her– always– even in the blackest darkness. Those who have the Holy Spirit are like the stars in the heavens that shine brightly piercing the darkness bringing light to a dark world. I believe that Sally’s book would be a tremendous blessing to my daughter in this season of transition as she prepares to enter college in the fall.

  270. Melissa Jones says:

This book will be for my sister. She has had tremendous heartbreak the past few years. She is a woman of God. She and her husband is presently raising their only grandchild. They have gone to court against their only child to get custody. He is a St. Jude patient now. They are starting all over again with a 5 year old when they should be looking at retirement. Her husband has sever heart issues and has had 3 heart attacks. I firmly believe I read this message today to enter today for a book for her. I don’t normally scroll on down through the other stuff but today I did.

  271. This is such a timely, uplifting reminder for us as believers. I was just praying for my children and our nation’s leaders and allies. Then I went to the Ps31 post for the day and the truth of your words reminded me of the love, power, and reassurance of my God. I have clung to every scripture passage you posted in my darkest hours-death of a loved one, a divorce I did not choose, sickness and at death’s door, sending my own daughter overseas to minister to the people group of her heart. Every time my God has held me firmly and faithfully. Every time He has filled me with hope instead of fear and has stood me on the solid ground of who He is. He is our only constant in the chaos, crisis, and uncertainties of our lives and this world. He is the light in and above the darkness and He longs for each of us to know to the depths of our being that He’s got this, He’s got us and those we cherish, and that He truly does hold the whole world in His Hands. Take heart, stand firm, do not fear, and know just beyond the darkness is His Light if we just reach for it. Love and Blessings to all!

  272. Wow….the way Sally writes is just beautiful! And how calming to think about God holding the stars forever!

  273. Thank you Sally for using your God-given gift to share with others. How great is our God who provides what we need! This devotional spoke light directly into my heart today and I am so blessed. We are living in tough times and need to lift our eyes from the heaviness of our hearts and focus on the One who has control and who holds the stars in His hands. Another plus was that two of my favorite verses were quoted as well. Now who can say, God is not in control? Blessings on your day.

  274. Great devo! Thanks! I’d like to have a copy to learn how to make a greater impact on those God has placed around me. After all that is the most important reason for us being here after glorifying Him, isn’t it?

  275. Ceratainly, I wuill love to have one of your books . . . .Which I know will bless me greatly. I greatful
for an opportunity to have one. God Bless!

  276. Joy Jackson says:

My name is Joy, too, and those words were just what I needed. My husband’s company imploded and at age 66 he is unemployed and looking for work in financial and planning management. A few years ago we lost everything and were just beginning to recover, but we know God is in this no matter how we feel. We would so appreciate your prayers. Thank you. God is so good! “So I will call upon Your name, and keep my eyes above the waves. When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace, for I am Yours and You are mine”

  277. Sorry for above typos;-)
As was intended, Certainly I will love to have one of your books . . . .Which I know will bless me greatly.
I am greatful for an opportunity to have one. God Bless!

  278. I would love to win a copy of your new book. My greatest desire is to live His life for me. I could make a case for why you should send one to me, but after reading so many of the other comments I find I do not even want to ask. Instead I pray the Lord will lead you and thank Him for the blessing your book will be to those He leads you to gift.

  279. Thank you for sharing this inspiring truth! My heart totally agrees and knows that God is in control. I don’t want my mind to question, but sometimes it does. I would love to win a copy of this book, and it would get shared with all who need it for such a time as this.
    Thank you for the opportunity!
    Your sister in Christ

  280. Laura Stueve says:

amen. Our hope is always in JESUS. In our God who put the universes in their place and painted the sky during sunrises and sunsets. The Savior who faced complete abandonment and shame to save all of us. This is the God we belong to. Praise Him!
If I win the book, I would simply read it for the godly, heart reaching encouragement Sally’s books Always provide. As a new mom, I’m in the midst of the battlefield raising 3 precious little souls and finding time to read while they nap is just a refreshing time to rest. Thanks for a beautiful reminder, Sally. ❤️

  281. I am sitting here after talking on the phone with a friend, who was once a coworker. We were like a family at this job. But now you only hear from and can only get in touch with a few of them, it feels a little lonely, but this devotion has reminded me that no matter how many people have passed thru my life. God has always and will continue to always be there for me. Thanks for this reminder on this day!

  282. Thank for your reassuring words to us through your loving encouragement to your daughter. I am always looking to The Lord for resources to pass on to my fearful 13 year old. Praise God that He does hold us and we can trust that he is able to walk with us and sometimes even carry us through fearful moments, days , or full seasons . He is faithful.

  283. Thanks very much…I needed to be reminded of God’s control in everything. As I find myself worrying ..knowing that God is in control allays my fear. God bless you richly

  284. Sally’s poetic words really resonate with me. I love that she wrote about fear, but paints a beautiful picture instead. That is God at work. I too have one going abroad to study. My son, 21, will finish his final international business credits in Copenhagen this summer & is finalizing the details. The news offers little encouragement, as there was just a shooting there yesterday. At the very least I am printing a copy of Sally’s devotion to share & resort to as summer approaches. Her words apply though, to our everyday. I have a daughter who is a Freshman in college & a daughter who is a Junior in high school. It is hard at times not to live in fear! But Sally’s beautiful reminder of God’s consistent & unfailing love, and His Word that we are to be Lights in the world, shining in the darkness, is always timely. Thank you for your words of encouragement today! I would love to read more.

  285. Thank you for sharing, I have struggled with fear all my life.

  286. Dear Sister Stephanie, I have walked in those shoes where you now stand- a place of great betrayal, heartache, and loss created by a husband who walked away from me and our daughters to a life with a much younger woman and child he created with her during the last 4 years of our marriage. I am praying for you. Hold onto our God and His Word. He is not done with your story yet. Dear Delores, I pray God will strengthen you, comfort you, and hold you up by the power of His mighty Hand to a place where you can see His Light surrounding you. For Sarah, I pray for healing from your spirit of fear and the tearing down of all strongholds of past violations. I ask God to bring you His peace that transcends all human understanding and to wrap you in the everlasting love of His arms. God bless you dear sisters as we all pray for and support each other with His loving kindness.

  287. My first child is turning 1 next month. I am acutely aware of how she watches me and learns. She sees my actions and copies them. I want to influence her in positive ways and that comes from living it. The Holy Spirit must cultivate the fruits of His Spirit in me. I get so caught up in trying to be the perfect mom that I am always striving and never trusting Him to do the work in me. im sure your book would be very encouraging in my walk as a mother

  288. I want to thrive with the Holy spirit within me. I want my daughter to always come to me with guidance knowing that I will be using God’s words.
I’m sure this book, will help cultivate that within me.

  289. Miss Sally,
Your words have touched my soul and brought tears to my eyes. I have 2 girls 26 and 21 and they r treasured by me deeply. They know Christ but have not yet settled the Lordship issue…in time.
God holds them in his rightous hands in the meantime…and for ALL time I know.

…And the picture you paint with words is inspiring and beautiful!

    Thank you for sharing them…

  290. Thank you so much for posting this message! I woke up this morning and turned on the tv to hear about the Christians that were murdered by ISIS in Egypt. I choose to look at the situations through God’d eyes and through Him follow him on the journey to spread his love, light, and message to hope to a hurting world. God really used you this morning to remind me to be strong and courageous no matter what the circumstances may be ahead. Blessings to you! May we all live our our calling to share Jesus with the world!

  291. Loree Van Gelder says:

I absolutely LOVE how Sally writes & the words she speaks to her daughter. I want to learn how to speak God’s truth to my daughter & others like she does!

  292. Thank you for this reminder today, Sally! No matter what goes on in “my world,” all seems like chaos and hopelessness, worry and fear if I make my focus on the world and not its Creator. God’s peace transcends all circumstances when we are in communication with each other thru His word or in conversation. And I would love to read one of your books – BONUS! 🙂

  293. Your book sounds great! I’d love to read it myself and then pass it along to my 23-year old dear daughter living with us. Today’s devotional was beautiful–and I love the idea of gazing at the stars in the night sky to observe the “work of God’s finger”!

  294. I would love to read Sally’s new book! I’ve heard so many good things about it, and I’ve been wanting some guidance in the area of being a more intentional parent to my daughter.

  295. Love you, Sally!!!

  296. Sally,
Thank you for this timely devotional. I have been struggling with a family member and made the recent decision that it was in my best interest and safety to no longer have contact with this family member. I have been trying to get my footing under me from recent bad choices made by this person and decide how I should proceed and making that decision was not easy (although it was immediately clear that it was necessary). Thank you for the reminder that God holds me through this season of my life and I have nothing to fear with God leading the way.

  297. jenn miller says:

such inspiring words!! i’ve heard wonderful things about your book and would absolutely love to win a copy : )

  298. Thank you for taking the time to write that devotional for us. Your inspirational words to your daughter speak deeply to me. Our family has gone through some very trying months. With a son who has struggled with his mental health. And then on top of that I was let go from my job (without cause) that I had thoroughly enjoyed for many years. Thank you for this thought – that the God who holds the stars is holding me. I am determined to not just survive this time but to thrive in the midst of it. Walking with God – the Maker of heaven and earth.

  299. I’d love to win a book for a girl friend of mine. I have a copy and think it’s fantastic!! 🙂

  300. Susan Brown says:

Loved this devotional, and was so encouraged by it. I am a recent “empty nester ” and I am searching for how God would have me minister to my adult children and to go forward with the rest of my life.

  301. I think that we all need a daily reminder that the God who holds the stars holds our hands as well. Isaiah 41:10 is a favorite scripture of mine. I have a friend who is going through chemo treatments right now and if I win the book, I would give it to her.

  302. Thank you for this post today. It is such a comfort to know that the God who holds the stars holds me and that nothing that happens in our lives comes as a surprise to Him. If I win this book, I will share it with my daughter who just graduated your college and is starting her teaching career.
Thank you for ministering to my hurting heart today.

  303. Such a powerful devotional, which deeply resonated in my thoughts! Thank you for reminding me again, that we are serving an all knowing Creator, who is working out His divine plan and purpose for our lives. We can trust Him!! It would be awesome to win a copy of Sally’s book!

  304. This was an awesome devotion. I have a friend going through a difficult time and this helped to remind me who is in control

  305. I really needed to hear this today. I’ve been going thru some really difficult times.. Financially…. A family member into heroin…. My youngest daughter stating she no longer believes in God abdv thinks church is a joke…. Constant trials and heartache…. I’m just not sure how much more I can deal with. Being a single mom is hard enough and not having any support or encouragement from other family members makes it a little harder. I know God is there for me and honestly that’s the only thing that keeps me going…please pray for me. Thank you

  306. Your devotion brought tears to my eyes. I’d love for my daughters to read your book!

  307. I would love a copy of this book to inspire me to keep my priorities straight as I seek to be all that God wants me to be as a wife, homeschool mom, friend, daughter, woman, etc!

  308. Your article about Jiy and your night before she left for Oxford deeply resonated with me. I too have gone through troublesome times – haven’t we all? But our eyes need to stay on Jesus. Our only helper in the darkness. He shines a bright light to stay on the path He has planned for us. We need only to trust and follow. We serve an awesome God! Thanks for your words of encouragement. Wishing many blessings on you and your ministry. To God be the glory!

  309. Maria Ferrand says:

“Beauty will be strewn across your path so you can observe His fingerprints”. What a beautiful picture of God’s grace. And a reminder for us to be intentional in looking for His fingerprints. Thank you for your heart!

  310. I would love a copy of this. Going through struggles of a friend right now who means a lot to me and trying to help them remember to keep their eyes fixed on God in their darkness right now.

  311. Thank you. I needed this today.

  312. This is so beautifully written and timely for me.
thank you and may the Lord that set this for u to share keep you and your family steadfast and always looking to and peace and Gods love be with you always…

  313. Since last year 2014; I look forward to my daily Encouragements as my Family has been under attack by the Devil & I need daily reminders as today’s to get through theses times. A New Years Resolution is to Read 1 Book a month (this winning book would be a great read I think ) or I listen to 2 Audio Chrisian Books per month. Thank you for Daily Encouraging Words. A

  314. I related so well to this devotion and was unfamiliar with this author though have many Prov. 31 books. Also, I am constantly telling others about your site and also sharing books so it would be read by other people as well. Thank you, Patti

  315. What a powerful devotional that came at the right moment. With hearing about Isis again this morning and my college daughter is going to S.Africa for an internship I am trying to rebuke the fears and worries that try to creep in. God is faithful and I have to trust Him as I see her off. I would love this book to help me through.

  316. Carolyn Rogers says:

Thank you for this toughtful devotional that provides strength to believers. I will read this to my kids. It’s beautiful to trust in our Lord. I could use the book because I’m always seem to be searching for the Lord’s purpose for my life.

  317. sharon constant says:

I would love a copy of this book. I need some help in finding a new direction now that I have accepted God’s plan to not have children.

  318. I will keep the book for myself. Sometimes the bipolar disorder or the meds to help control it actually take charge of my life and it’s hard to get it back.

  319. Grace Crapitto says:

I would love to read this book, as I am so wanting to believe God will show me the direction He wants me to go to serve Him. I have a big decision facing me in this area and feel this book might truly help me to see His answers.

  320. I would love to win a copy. Sally’s words are so encouraging!

  321. Yes! I need to learn how to own my life! Would love this book to lead me on the journey!

  322. As a female officer I have an opportunity to touch a lot of hurting women maybe even men. I would like a chance to win this book to impact the world around us God’s way.

  323. I’ve been a Christian for 33 years and married for 36 years. I feel like my life is falling apart.
I need help and hope this book will help me.

  324. Thank you for your words today. I am on a journey of growth and would like to know how to own my life and still let God lead. I’d love to read your book and learn more.

  325. My daughter, mother and I all needed to read this today, and be reminded of the awesome God we serve. Thank you!

  326. I have been greatly encouraged by Sally Clarkson’s writing since discovering her blog a week ago. I feel like lost steam spiritually after having my first baby 20 months ago. I struggled to know how to live out my Christian faith in this new phase of life. Living for God seemed easier when I was single. How could I squeeze in ministry when I was learning how to be a wife and mother? Sally has helped me to see that these new roles, wife and mother, ARE my main ministry. I feel free to passionately pursue God in each of these roles, and I feel free from the guilt of not “doing more.” I look forward to reading “Own Your Life” in order to continue refining the vision that God is giving me for my life.

  327. What a beautiful thought! The next time I’m feeling anxious I will think of the stars and let them be my conmfort. I would love to read your book! Thanks so much for the giveaway opportunity.

  328. What a loving tender God we serve . He is always there to let us know he all ways loves us. All we need to do is to come to him and he will give us the love and peace and comfort we need.Gods love and blessings be with you all.

  329. Since August when this whole ISIS thing began, I’ve been experiencing horrible anxiety and paralyzing fear. I find myself afraid to do much outside of work and spend time at home with my son or family due to the fear of losing them and regretting not spending all the time I could with them.

I’m trapped. This isn’t the life God has planned for me. I want to go beyond my fear and going through the motions and actually LIVE my life. I want to experience what God has for me and my son. I feel like this devotional was written directly to me and as I was reading towards the end, a sense of peace overwhelmed me that the God who holds the stars holds me. Thank you for your words and thank God for the wisdom you’ve shared!

  330. This was just what I needed to hear today. I have been laid off after 36 years of loyalty to a company. Not that this has not happened to many people these days, but I didn’t expect it when it happened last week. As I look back over the past three years, losing my husband, my mother and stepmother, going through a surgery and developing a life threatening infection, I know that God has always provided what I needed and placed people in my life to encourage me, pray for me and love me through these valleys. This is just a bump in the road compared to those other challenges. I just need to keep my FOCUS on Him. What an awesome God we serve !!!

  331. Kathleen Mahoney says:

I was very touched by this article. I needed to be reminded because I have been in such a panic about my own life and how I can make ends meet and not bounce another check, my son is lost and I recite scriptures to him but because he doesn’t see victory in my life my words fail and he is desperately signing up for the service just to run away and I am afraid for him, and my youngest son is heading to Greece this last semester of his college education. I would love to win this book and read more encouragement reminding me that the God who placed the stars and keeps them in the sky will keep me and my children. Thank you!

  332. P31 is always encouraging. My husband reads the devotions. I would like to win this book to improve myself as a woman and a christian and therefore help others.

  333. Indeed these are timely words. I must choose to look to God not the darkness in the news of the day. Working at truly trusting in the God who holds all things. Thank you for writing these words, a great reminder pointing me back to scripture.

  334. This is exactly what I needed to read today at exactly the right time. Thank you

  335. What inspiring truth. God’s word is so good. Thank you!

  336. Bernadette says:

I’d love to own my own life, sometimes it seems like life passes by so quickly that I hardly have time to be intentional. I love looking at the stars, it’s truly amazing to think that the God who made them is still involved in my life!

  337. Oh, I’ve been longing for this book! Sallys word are the sweetest balm to my spirit 🙂

  338. I am facing a lot of fears of my own with aging patents and their health issues, 2 sons ready to leave home and another entering the military. I would like to read this book. Knowing in my head I can trust God, needing it to go deep into my soul.

  339. Vicky Rogers says:

This is an awesome devotion and a great reminder of how great our God is. He truly loves us and holds us even when the world around us is in complete caoss. We are loved and He is in complete control.
I do have a prayer request. I want to be the courageous momma that you are in your daughters life. I prayed as I was reading your devotion” Dear Lord please let me have this kind of relationship with my daughter”. She is 6 years old and I did not have much of a relationship with my mom growing up. I do now, but it was strained when I was younger. I do not have an example of how to be that mom, but I know that the Lord knows the desires of my heart and how badly I want that closeness with my daughter. Please pray that I will be a courageous mom that trusts Him and follows His leading.

  340. I would love to win a copy of this book. I am finding it so hard to see through the daily circumstances and the awful pain around the world and still manage to remember that God is holding me in this all too. This book sounds interesting and powerful.

  341. I would love to win the book. I just recently began subscribing to Proverbs 31 seeking support and encouragement for my very trying days as a middle school teacher. It is with joy I open up these daily emails to be my constant reminder of the goodness of His word and the comfort I receive in seeking His word from others that follow Him as I do. I just recently met a young person so much in need of comfort and guidance to help them through a very difficult time she seems to be experiencing from “the world”. I was able to share with her the goodness of God by just believing in his word and dwelling on His word and not merely by the disguise of those things of the world. I would love to be able to give her that book to help her as she makes her journey to a better life for herself and be poised for her journey by being dependent upon God and her future decisions be based upon what He “intends” for her and not what the world only leaves for chance to come her way.

  342. Thank you for this! Such a great reminder that we need to ‘fix’ our eyes on Jesus, and not on what is going on in the world. It is getting very ‘dark’ out there, but I know who holds tomorrow…and me.
This needs to be at the front of our minds every day…
    Bless you!

  343. I love Sally’s writings. And this, post was exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you! We are in the process of needing to relocate away from my beloved CO. Three of the five “kids” will stay here and two will move with us. Many changes and unknowns lay ahead and this book sounds perfect. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

  344. Rachelle Craig says:

I would love to read this book myself just as a reminder that God is always with us, but I would also give it to my daughter who is newly saved and she has so many questions related to this book. This would be the perfect book and a study we could do together, shoulder to shoulder, making memories. 🙂 Thank you for this amazing chance to win this book. <3

  345. I already have a copy, but I would love to give one to a sweet friend!

  346. Thank you, I needed that encouragement

  347. Cassie Kelly says:

This was just beautiful. I’d love to read more from this book and feel His presence even more.

  348. I thank you for this message today. I need the daily reminder that God is always with me holding me up. I would love to win a copy of this book for my daughter. She has finished university and is spending the next 6 months in Germany and Australia. She is not sure what her path is to be, I am sure this book will be a great encouragement for her. Truly enjoy the blogs of all the writers at Proverbs 31. God Bless You!

  349. Fear has had a grip on me off and on for so long. I know one thing in my head, but when it comes to acting on it, I fail miserably. I am facing a situation right now that by most peoples’ standards would seem so petty. Yet it has made me physically sick this week and feeling horrible. As I prayed with my little girl before bed one night, she said “you pray mom.” I said “I don’t feel like praying tonight.” She replied to me, “when you don’t feel like praying, that is when you should pray.” Wisdom from the mouth of a 10 year old. This book might have just what I need. I’d love a copy!

  350. Kelly Dickinson says:

Hi! Thank you for the encouraging words that reflect what our Heavenly Father promises us throughout the Gospel. Joshua 1:9 is one of my favorite verses of assurance, inspiration, and comfort. Whenever I have a trial or a triumph in my life, I try to remember to thank Jesus, no matter what the situation is. He has His best in store for me and for that I am so thankful and blessed! God Bless you, Miss Sally, for sharing your gift with others!

  351. I would love to read this book…I need help to break free from the victim mentality that I find myself in.

  352. Jackie Brown says:

beautiful thoughts and very encouraging! Thanks

  353. Thank u for sharing! I would love to read the book as well. I recently experienced God’s gift of forgiveness & mercy and would like to know better how to trust Him with my future. I am so thankful He carries me through the pain & struggles and that I don’t need to carry it on my own!

  354. Broken and in need of hope says:

I feel like my world has been crashing in around me. I know it isn’t the worst stuff that could happen, but it hasn’t always been easy to keep my eyes on Jesus and have faith. My husband and I are going through a divorce right now. It rocks your world when your husband tells you there is nothing to save in your marriage. You also second guess yourself wondering why you were so naive and foolish to get married and to hang on so long when most would have walked away much sooner from the unhealthy and abusive relationship. You wonder If you are crazy for still loving him and some days you wish you didn’t care so much and could turn off your feelings and emotions. Im currently unemployed and will be losing my insurance and other things when divorce finalizes. I guess I’m asking for prayers…not for reconcilliation of our marriage because that would be very unwise of me and unrealistic. Instead, I need prayers that I will find peace from knowing the One who holds the stars holds me and that I will see myself more like He sees me.

  355. Gilliene Teresa says:

I definitely would like this book because I know the Lord has put into my heart that I have been VERY fearful. I want to start learning how to be intentional about these fears and break the lies that keep me imprisoned. I know it’s a daily surrender everyday but it would be awesome to have some practical steps on how to get away from fear or run away before temptation to live a free and beautiful life in Jesus. I trust that the Lord makes us brave and I know it’s because He loves us.

  356. a friend wants to do a study of this book together, I’m needing some encouragement right now.

  357. What a wonderful world from God! I am mommy to three small children (4 and under) and looking at the world they will grow up in can be terrifying. I have to continually place them God’s hands and remember that He is their protector. It sounds like Sally’s new book would be such an encouragement as I seek to exemplify a godly life for my little ones. Winning the book would be fantastic!

  358. I really need to own my life, so I don’t lose it when the next trial comes along.

  359. HearherBee says:

I find myself still looking for my way, at age 40, a single mom of three girls, two failed marriages, and feeling deep despair that I’ve somehow wasted my life or forfeited my chance at happiness. I need to find my purpose and despite daily devotions and prayer and seeking a deeper relationship with Christ, I feel more lost than ever.

  360. Anna Katrina Tapac says:

I want to be intentional this year with everything God has entrusted me with. It would be just swell if I would be blessed to have a copy of this book and learn a lot from it.

  361. This would be a great book for my daughter. She is recovering from a boyfriend break up. She needs the Word of God to encourage her, love her and heal her. God is showing her how to Own her Life.

  362. I would love this book for myself. I have read all of her books except her latest! She is my favorite author and encourager. I was just thinking today how thankful I am to have her as an example.

  363. I loved this devotion and really needed to hear it tonight. Our son is traveling via plane to Vietnam from China for a weeks vacation. I worry about his safety in all the turmoil and be heading in the world these days. He has great faith; however, ISIS has none! What a tragic world! Would love to read your entire book. God Bless you for sharing your faith with us.

  364. Beautiful message that touch my ♡
Don’t look fear look at Gods face

  365. I would share with my daughter, who is going a rough time in her lure right now. She is depressed because she can’t find a job but thankful for the time with her children.

  366. Wow! Was I ever meant to read this right at this time! I have been going through what I can only call the worst days of my life, and these bad days have lasted now for over 7 years. You see, I am permanently disabled and live in constant, agonizing and unbearable pain. No pain medications help me, and I spend 99% of every single day in my bedroom. To walk is excruciating for me, and since we have 12 stairs I’d have to manage to get down, I never leave my house unless it’s for a doctor’s appointment. You see, I have Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Gout, Degenerative Disc Disease, Sciatica and Osteoarthritis. Pain is my constant companion, and I must admit it does get me down at times where all I want to do is go home to Heaven, even if I have to make that happen myself. It’s difficult enough for me just to be in extreme pain 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but then to also feel that I have nothing left to contribute to this world and therefore my life really is meaningless now, well, that just makes things worse for me. Aside from my constant, unrelenting pain, I know that I am also an enormous burden on my disabled husband, who also has Rheumatoid Arthritis. Day in and day out I know that I am a heavy burden for him to bear, and every single day I cry because my pain is so great. I feel most of the time as if God has abandoned me, and that He is definitely giving me far more than I can bear, but when I’m begging Him to let me die so that I won’t suffer anymore, this wee bit of hope pops up in my heart, and I grasp it tightly, wanting desperately to know that God is with me still. Anyway, reading this today reminded me about God’s greatness, and that He knows everything that is happening at all times. If God can hold the stars up in the sky, He must be able to lift me up as well. I’m counting on that, because I honestly can’t do this by myself. I just pray that He will choose to ease my pain, even if only a little. But if He chooses not to help me, than I need to trust that there is a reason for what I’m having to endure. I guess I just need to try and remember that when I’m crying out in pain. God IS my Loving Father, and He knows me better than I know myself. He must think that I can handle this. I don’t want to let Him down.

    • Kimberly, I am so sorry about your condition. “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” I’m going to pray for you as often as I can because I know you need this right now, its the only thing I can do for you. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” If you have nothing else, you always have hope. Hope of the plans He has and someday eternal living with Him! I pray that you will wait till God brings your time on earth to an end without taking your life into your own hands. You are His! And if He sees fit to keep you here, he does have plans with your life. Weather it is sending letters and encouraging others in need, becoming a prayer warrior for others, or growing in His Holy Word. Don’t forget, your never alone in your pain! He is always there. I’ll be praying for you.

    • Thank you Kimberley for your sharing and transparency. I pray that you will know you have made a difference in my life today with your story as I continue to live under house arrest in Brasil, surrounded by a foreign language, iron bars, barbed wire, alarm system and high walls. I cannot go out the front gate for a walk as I would be robbed. My son and his family live here permanently. My husband and I have been here for almost 3 weeks and I am ready to go home. My DIL has no understanding of me and no desire to understand me. My son and my husband are not emotionally available. I have God and a few safe people online to pour out my heart to. Just being able to pray for you and let you know that your sharing your heart and journey makes a difference in the lives of others all around the world that you don’t even know is so wonderful. I’m one of those people. May God wrap His loving arms of comfort around you today and hold you tightly in His arms. With love and much gratitude, Sharron

  367. I truly enjoyed the except of Sally Clarkton book. I was truly touched. In the past two years , I have had many ups and downs. God has been very good to me . I can’t stop praising him. I have run away from my calling for a long time but he has brought full circle. I love to read books that increase my love of God so I can witness to other about God’s grace and mercy.

  368. Julie Hays says:

Would love a copy of this book! You are such a blessing to me! Thank you!!

  369. Often times, my disfunctional “family” situation overwhelmes me with stress and weighs me down terribly. I know if I fix my eyes on Jesus, all the junk fades, but I have a difficult time when life is so rude.

  370. My goodness I’ve never seen so many posts. Not much chance of getting a book, but I would read it and share it with my two girls away at university.

  371. Thank you for this post. I have seen so many snippets, phrases, and words of encouragement from your book. I love reading your blog and feel so encouraged afterward every time. If I were to win your book I would keep it for myself to read and then most likely lend it out- as long as I got it back! I have too long lived in “survival mode”- raising four kids ages five and under, homeschooling, adjusting to not working, and being in school myself. I sometimes forget the dream God placed inside me long ago to become a counselor and to teach and train other women. This book would do me wonders, I know it! Thank you for the chance to win a copy of your book and thank you for your posts- they have perfect timing!

  372. I am healing from a broken heart after the end of a nearly ten year relationship. Over the last several weeks, I have been seeking the Lord to release the strongholds of fear and anxiety in my life. He has answered so many prayers in such a short time and, although I have many sad moments throughout my days, I am excited to see how He is transforming me into the woman he desires me to be. I think that I would enjoy your book in this new chapter of my life.

  373. Cindy Borcherding says:

This would be a wonderful resource for my journaling bible. I have been reading and writing in my bible every day since the beginning of this year trying to draw closer to GOD and restore my faith in Him. Thank you for the chance to win.

  374. I am struggling to hear God’s will for my life. This girl’s clear direction is awesome….I am praying for that. Thought this book could help me so hoping to win!

  375. Tricia Wanders says:

Thank you for your wise words. Thankyou for your encouragement. God bless you !

  376. I was really encouraged by this article and would love a copy of the book to read for further encouragement in my walk with the Lord. Thank you.

  377. DeAnna Egan says:

My best friend really needs to have a copy of Own Your Life. At 51, she’s been my best friend since we were freshmen in high school. Sadly, she has always felt insecure about herself. To this day, she has never left home. She is a sweet, thoughtful, loving Christian lady who lives her life vicariously through others. She sees others experiencing life…triumph, tragedy, weddings, births, graduations, celebrations…but hasn’t stepped out to discover her own life. I do hope your book will give her the courage she needs to own her life. God bless your beautiful ministry!

  378. Kati Stewart-Riggs says:

I needed to read this tonight as I go to bed. God has shown his grace and love to me in the past month. I lost my best friend to cancer last week. She was 44 years young. I also lost one of my beautiful students last week to a car accident. He was 17. In saying goodbye to both of these two beautiful people I began thinking about the impact they both had on my life. How can I work to make that kind of impact on others. How can I better trust and portray God’s light to others so people don’t have to wonder what I stand for. As a teacher, over 80 teenagers see me everyday. How can I impact them and let them see God’s grace and love through me?

  379. Rachel Piper says:

I would keep this if I won it. I would love to learn about living more intentionally!

  380. Kathyrn Marshburn says:

I just needed to hear these words today. We are all overcome with adversity, and these words just hit home.

  381. Sarah Hoskins says:

I am so looking forward to reading this book! Ad a pastor’s wife with 5 kids I feel I am constantly trying to keep my head above water… But I don’t want to merely survive, I want to thrive!

  382. Elaine Segstro says:

I would love to read this book reminding me of God’s faithfulness, His love, and His peace surrounding me and strengthening me.

  383. I love all the books I have read so far by Sally Clarkson and I am sure this one is wonderful as well 🙂 What a wonderful gift she is in encouraging us as mothers!

  384. Next time I would want to watch or read news, I better just pick up a Bible instead and be reminded of God’s faithfulness to be with us no matter what’s happening around us or what kind of situation we are in.

  385. Carol Pirtle says:

I love what you teach about the faithfulness of God! I would love to have a copy of your book to use to teach the young moms of my church!

  386. To read for myself and share with my sister!

  387. I am reading this book slowly and am so encouraged and challenged by Sally’s words. It’s exactly what I need for this season of my life. I’m hoping to start a group of women in my area who could go through this book together, so it would be great to have a copy to give to someone who might not be able to afford their own book.

  388. Valerie Romans says:

Last fall I began to write TYL(thank you Lord) on each day that passed on my calendar because of Him we made it through a difficult season. I would like to take those moments and be intentional about drawing closer to him and sharing with others how good God has been to me. I would love to read your book and continue to gain wisdom to strengthen my daily walk with Jesus.

  389. I am a woman who has battled fear for many years and recently started battling it more with scriptures on peace and trusting the Lord as well as “do not fear” ones. Your words tonight have been a huge comfort to me. I didn’t have a Mama or mentor to teach me God’s wisdom, so I look to women like you Sally, to learn from. I am a grown woman, but I feel like I am just now starting to grow in Jesus. That is why I would love to win this book, to have your insight on how to live intentionally and to grow in wisdom.

  390. Beautiful and absolutely true message! Thanks so much. If I win a copy of your book, I would read it first and then give it to my adult daughter who would greatly benefit from your book as well.

  391. Shannon Poore says:

I would love to have a copy of your book, my daughter and i are going through a really rough ordeal. She won’t speak to me nor allow me to see my grandson. I believe i could benefit from reading your book and then pass it on to her and maybe something in your book will open her eyes. I love and miss them both.

  392. Sherri Settles says:

Amen! Loved the devotional ! For 2 years life has been “topsy turvey” however I hold fast knowing God is in control! I would love a copy of the book for myself and share with other women in my Bible study group as we all e on our individual intentional journeys with God leading! God Who holds the stars in place holds even me ! Hallelujah!

  393. Thanks for the reminder “that the God that holds the stars also holds us.”He is indeed in control of everything. I was recently introduced to you on chrystal Evans Hurst’s podcast and really enjoyed your interview. I would love to read your book because it is time for me to own my life,

  394. Definitely a year to be purposeful–and yes to :own my life!” working on being more intentional and could use all the help I can get!

  395. So need this as I step out in the new journey of faith. My husband lost his job and we are praying to seek comfort in His leading in such trying time. Please keep us in prayer in this journey as we seek His help and leading. Thank you.

  396. Vilma Perez-Munoz says:

Hello honestly I have never read any of your books but I receive thru e-mail daily Proverbs 31 Ministry devotional and today’s message by you really spoke to my heart amd I believe that this book.will see God’s purpose and blessings in the life He has prepAred for me and my family.

  397. Id love to win a copy of Sallys book to give to my 17 yr old daughter as she gets close to moving on with her life. Thank you so much !

  398. I would love to own the book “own your life” because i want to learn to see each day with purpose

  399. This short devotional was very encouraging. I felt a sense of anxiety at the thought of your daughter’s trip followed by peace as I continued to read. You put it in prospective. God is faithful. I would love to read her book and be challenged and encouraged to live intentionally. I would then pass it on.

  400. What a timely subject… who doesn’t need this encouragement?

  401. wendy woodward says:

I love Sally Clarkson’s books! Even if I don’t win it, I’ll buy a copy. She always speaks life to me, so encouraging and uplifting!

  402. I would love to have this book, why because I’ve seen so much on this and will be meeting Sally in June and would love to read before hand. Right now I don’t have extra money to buy the book. I would also share this book with my mom who would enjoy it as much. We both could use this book right now.

  403. Kaitlyn Seymour says:

Single Mom wanting to raise a believer as best I can. I want to be the Christian role model he deserves.

  404. Read some of Sally in “Desperate”…I love how she cares for young moms like myself.

  405. I would love to have this book. I’ve really been struggling for the last few months since my husband lost his job. It’s so helpful to be reminded that God is faithful.

  406. I would LOVE to give this book to my high school aged daughter. In our prayers together, I hear her pray that the Lord would help her to be “intentional” in her walk as she lives for Him.

  407. I love this message of owning this life that I have been called to. I would love that encouragement.

  408. Lynda Glover says:

Thank you so very much for the wonderful reminder that the Lord is with me wherever I go! I find so much comfort in that! I would really like to win one of these books.

  409. Wow!!! Powerful !!! I loved this devotion❤ Just what I needed today

  410. Maxine Rose says:

I struggle daily with keeping my focus on God and trusting in His ways and wisdom. It is just too easy to let fear and doubt creep in. Thank you for this wonderful devotional. Just what I needed to hear!

  411. Elizabeth Lopez says:

First I want to say thank you for sharing this moment with the world. It obviously touched so many lives.
On a personal level, Sunday night I was crying out to God in prayer over my marriage which is crumbling as my husband has turned away from the things of God and is finding anything and everything to bring against me in this time. I asked that God send me confirmation that I am on the right path and following the steps He has ordered for me. On Monday this devotional popped into my newsfeed. Yes. God does speak to us through social media. I am so thankful for small moments of confirmation. I will be strong and courageous and not fearful in the days I face ahead! Thank you!

  412. I read this and it is very encouraging when I myself am struggling to stay positive. I leave it all to God, but I seem to get in the way. I am going through a very difficult time at work, harassment, unethical dealings on the part of the higher ups. The choice is to go along with the program and deal with what ever they want or get out. I have been put on performance review, they have done this several times before, then always fire the individuals. I looking for God to open new doorways for me. This has helped me when I am discouraged. I am my only support and have many rescued animals that rely on me.

  413. I have been really convicted to live intentionally. I think this book would be a great start for me. Thank you so much for today’s devotion.

  414. I would love to grow in how to live my days intentionally, and to be encouraged in this. Thank you!

  415. What a beautiful devotional. I would love a copy of Sally’s new book!

  416. I am a teacher and absolutely thrive on sharing my love with the students. Few of them attend church, so I try to bring God’s love to them, through me. I would love a copy of your book to continue my growth and encouragement so that I will foster theirs.

  417. When I read your words, “If you look at the darkness and fear of the news of the day, you will grow dark in your soul”, I knew that I wanted to read your book!
I loved the prophetic words that you spoke over your daughter, before she left for Oxford!

  418. Susan Bricker says:

This devotional spoke to me in so many ways. I know this book would touch me and so many that i know. Awesome writing and truths. Thank you for blessing others with your gift from the Lord.

  419. I have recently discovered Proverbs 31 ministry and it has been such a blessing. Thank you!!!

We are currently struggling with secondary infertility and learned that our only daughter was a miracle. I have had surgery and we are praying for God’s will. Hopefully that will mean another child and sibling for our daughter, but if not I want to be okay with that too and live how God wants us too. God definitely has different plans for us than we were planning! 🙂

I would love a copy of Sally’s book “Own Your Life” and would also love to share it woth my mops group.

  420. Constance Kornegay says:

This is what I needed to today!!! His book of encouragement would help me to keep it daily

  421. Adore Sally Clarkson! Would love to glean wisdom and encouragment from her new book.

  422. Carrie Cushing says:

I loved todays devotional…so timely in today’s world of violent deaths and the persecution of Christians. I would read this myself, but I would also share it with close friends.

  423. F.E.A.R. = False Evidence Appearing Real….is what I have to remind myself right now as I struggle with some personal issues. Would be an honor to receive this book as I continue to grow in God and witness to life lessons.

  424. Thanks for that devotional. I could really use the book. It is high time for me to own my my own life!

  425. Stacey Allen says:

I really appreciated your words this morning…. My husband left Jesus and marriage 21 months ago and today I am going to the courthouse to deal with papers I was served two weeks ago 🙁 today is the day I want to own my life…. Could really use prayer please 🙂 thank you in advance

  426. This devotion spoke to my heart this morning as I’ve been facing issues with anxiety. Everything in life seems to be coming in around me and I’ve been so overwhelmed with trying to balance home, work, and two recent trials over the last month.. I would love to win a copy of your book but if not I want to buy it for sure! Thank you for sharing from your heart, Sally.

  427. Jeannie Reeves says:

Sincerely enjoyed an needed today’s devotion. I am struggling with bad depression an fears . Basically, I don’t see a light at the end if the tunnel. When I read the Word an devotions , j believe with all my heart. The mundane life I live takes that same hope away. God bless this ministry is my prayer. Please enter me for the copy of the book you are giving away ” Own Your Life ” . Thank you for your fabulous ministry of Proverbs 31❤️

  428. I was awake most of the night last night, fearing and worrying about ISIS coming and the significant impact on Christians, anxious for my 23 year old teacher Daughter in Guatemala City, my college Son…my preacher Husband…would we, the leaders of the church, be strong enough to withstand the coming persecution? This morning my tasks seemed daunting, a Pastor’s Wife praying and writing her own testimony for our church women…what DID God want me to share? Then another PW msgd me and I shared with her my struggle and fear of persecution and also for what to say to this “new to me church” (we’ve been here a little over a year). She asked if I received these devotionals and I did not. She sent it to me…I cannot tell you how precious these words were to me today. I’ve read them numerous times soaking in the Word of God and the wisdom of another Mom who has released her daughter into the Hands of our Creator, who moves far away to fulfill God’s Purpose. I’m SO thankful for the Holy Spirit who knows JUST what we need and prompts His people to respond. Denise

    • Thank you for your sharing Denise: I have been through a grief journey releasing my son to live permanently in a third world country, where he is living in a house surrounded by high walls, barbed wire, alarm system, iron bars on every door and window. I cannot walk outside the front gate without risk of being robbed. The traffic here is insane. His Brazilian wife and two children only speak Portuguese, very limited English. I am here for 3 weeks under house arrest it feels like. They have been robbed several times, on and on the story goes. You are not alone. God sees and knows all about our fears and concerns as mothers. For me, it is ongoing surrender to put my family in God’s hands one day at a time. I know it is His will for my son and his family to live here. What safer place do they have but in the very center of God’s will. My will, would be so very different for them for sure, but His will is far better. Love, gratitude and blessings on you, Sharron

  429. Good encouragement for today (and every day)! Guess even at mid-40’s it’s never too late to learn to follow through on all my good intentions stacked up over the years, and learn from my mistakes and regrets…?! Sounds like a perfect book for me 🙂

  430. Really needed this

  431. Because these words just might breathe some meaningful hope in a girl who has totally forgotten about the GOD who holds the stars…and that he could possibly hold her and bring her thru her tragedy. blessed by these words. thankyou Sally.

  432. How Profound to be reminded especially after finishing rereading Joshua, God Is With Us Be Courageous In Him! Testing is for our Trusting God More!

  433. Encouraging! Inspiring! I am a seasoned nurse facing termination of employment.
This was perfect. I will choose to live in His reality. How wonderful for Joy to have peace and determination. In this season, I will trust in Him. Thank you. If I win a copy, I will read and then pass on to someone. I will ask God to show me who needs it. I will ask that person to also pass it on to someone in need and so on to keep it going with blessing upon blessing.

  434. I have never read anything by Sally, I was reading Proverbs 31 and found what she wrote about her Daughter Joy, it really uplifted me. Even though I am a Christian and love God with all my heart there are many times the flesh gets in the way. I would love to receive a free copy of Sally’s book Own your Life it will not only encourage me but my family as well. My husband can no longer work and is miserable in turn is making me depressed. I have a problem with depression any way but the situation is making me worse. Reading uplifting books helps me out a lot. My number one book is the Bible. But reading others as well,I believe will really help. With reading just this story about her daughter I feel in my heart and soul that with reading Own your Life will help me tremendously!! After reading it I will seek God and ask him to show me someone else who really needs it too and pass it on to them. Or take it to the church and place it there for anyone and everyone to read.Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive the Free Book Own your Life. God Bless Sally.

  435. This story was so beautiful! It made me think of memories with my mom and all of her encouraging words many years ago! Now I hope to have impact on my children! I would love to share this book with my Mom if I were to have a copy!

  436. As a SAHM of littles, I’ve been really convicted of the choices I have to make each day to be intentional with my time and filled with grace in my words and actions. I’d love to read your words, Sally – you have such a gift for speaking tenderly into the hearts of women.

  437. Mary Whitefield says:

Your blog uplifted me today so much. I love Joshua1:9 & Isiah 4:10. I would love a
    copy of your book!!!

  438. Wow! As a young woman who is leaving in August to do ministry in London for 3 months and shares the same fears and concerns mentioned at the beginning of this devotional, this is so encouraging! Thank you for writing this for both me AND my mother! Something to share to ease both of our minds and hearts! This is so incredibly encouraging! It really is like the verse in the bible (the reference is slipping my mind! Oops!) about how there is nothing new under the sun. You and Joy experienced the anxieties and fears of her going overseas to the UK and in sharing your heart, this now helps my mom and I as I am waiting to embark on an adventure to the same country! Thank you Lord for speaking through Sally to bring peace to us!

  439. What a timely book this would be for me and my family as we prepare for some life changing decisions. This gave me a lot of hope and assurance today.

  440. The words of Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (NASB) and Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (NASB) greatly encouraged me today. What a reminder that I need to be in the Word daily, hourly, minute by minute. I realize I can’t have my Bible out every minute of the day while I am working, but I do have the ability to memorize. I will commit these verses to memory so I can keep them in my heart and mind. Thank you for the much needed encouragement today.

  441. I love the way Salley Clarksons has expressed herslef in the article. I would really like to read more of her thoughts

  442. Thalia Miller says:

I have been trying to come to terms with empty nesting for the past year. I’m sure I sound like a broken record since my abusive ex convinced our youngest not to come back home for her last year of school. But this situation broke my heart a little. I’ve done my best to hand it over to God. Still I know this has made me even more cynical than usual. I need to hear words of encouragement such as this post. Thanks for lifting others through the word.

  443. I needed this today! I would love a copy of this book as I too often let my fears and anxieties take my focus from God, making the situation much harder than it has to be!

  444. Lesley Davis says:

I really enjoyed this devotion and it reminded me that He will take care of all my fears. My mother is going to Heaven within the next few days and she has been my best friend since my dad passed away 33 years ago this month when I was 15. I think it would be a great encouragement to me and I will pass along to others that may benefit from it. I am so thankful for all the devotions-they have really kept me going!!! Thank you!!!!!!

  445. Gayle Palmer says:

I needed this today too! I would love a copy of this book as I often let my fears and anxieties over take me since losing my husband before Thanksgiving last year. God is faithful if I will just give it to Him and know that He can heal my hurting heart. If He holds the stars, He can certainly hold me.

  446. Giovana da Silva Gomes says:

What an encouraging story! I’d love to win the copy of your book to give as a gift to my friend Cynthia whose birthday is on February 23rd and would be a great encouragement for her this special gift. I appreciate your message and praise the Lord for this ministry.

  447. I have four children three have now flown out of my nest..I remember the peace we all found when we would take our blankets outside to the trampoline and lay together absorbing the peace and beauty. I would love to have a copy and let my daughter read it too..Thanks for sharing!

  448. I need just a little more Jesus and I feel the book will help me on my journey.

  449. What an amazing God we love & serve! Thank you for your encouraging word. What a beautiful statement to hide in our hearts so that we learn to trust God with everything and to allow Him to work through us. Would love a copy of your book.

  450. Your words ring so true. I was lost into the dark shadow of fear for the past few years. I lost my belief in the safety of God. I lost my home, my family, and my friends by the weight of allowing the negative to overtake my life. thankfully I am finding my way back to the bible – and finding God was there all along. I need to keep reading the positive to keep the darkness away. To overcome the fears of daily living in this scary world.

  451. Hi Thank you for this great message of faith. I would love to read your book because I am trying to learn to be on my own and stop feeling lonely and afraid. I would also like to give a copy to my daughters one just started working and the other one is getting ready to go to college.

  452. Intentional is what I want to be!

  453. Would love to read your book for more encouragement.

  454. Oh this message was refreshing and encouraging after a sleepless night where my mind could not turn off. My God is big and faithful and capable. I’m a homeschooling mama to 7 with one on the way. I would love to add Sally’s wisdom to my life. Thank you for the devotion and the chance to win.

  455. We’ve recently moved to a new state, with no family nearby. I have to create a new routine with knowing nothing of the area. As an (older) mom to 2 small boys, being intentional is very important to me. This book would help me in our new adventures. I have a few friends in mind that I would pay it forward to when I’m done reading.

  456. I have a friend who has allowed fear and negativity to rule her life. I believe your book would be help and a blessing to her.

  457. Our pastor has challenged us to be more intentional this year in sharing God’s Word, Love and Joy. I am hoping this book will show me different ways to be intentional.

  458. Own Your Life – I too would like to trust God with my fears and help me to boldly and lovingly share God’s love with those near and far. I enojoyed the devotion today! 🙂

  459. Shirley Adams says:

This is a very comforting application of scripture that helped me visualize what I struggled with for almost 2 decades. Even reading scriptures gave me anxiety.
Now I read the Bible daily and am praying for God to help me apply his Word. “Do Not Fear” because God holds the stars. Thank you for helping me see this faithful truth about God. I would love to read your book!

  460. Great message — thank you for sharing. I would love to have a copy of your book for my wife. She has been on a wonderful journey with our Lord and, I think, is ready to make a great impact on our community and world. I think your book would be a wonderful starting point for her next step. Have a blessed day!

  461. …as I read your words early in the morning in the quietness of an empty nest, the tears stream down my face as I rememberthe precious last heart talks before my three girls each left for college. .the youngest is now gone and your words are now the words my very own heart needs to hear.

  462. I’ve recently been struggling with worry, fear, doubts, etc., and naturally what comes after that struggle is the feeling of guilt for not trusting, not walking faithfully even when I can’t see, feeling lost, etc. My mom passed away almost two years ago and even though it wasn’t unexpected, I never brought myself to have that final conversation with her. So when I read the devotional, I felt in my heart that she sent that message specifically and only for me. At first I felt so ashamed and embarrassed, but then an overwhelming love flooded my entire being that I could not hold back the tears. How could I forget that I am not only blessed to be my mother’s daughter, but more importantly that the God who holds the stars also holds me.

Thank you for all of your great work this ministry provides. I hold you all on my heart and in my prayers.

  463. Chris Zeigler says:

This was a great encouragement for me and others that I pass them on to read. It is a great reminder to not get into fear. With all the news today, it is very easy to start doubting and that planted seed of fear arises.
Standing on God’s word and seeing what God has created and can do in our lives is very uplifting. Thank you for your encouragement. If I won your book, I would share it and put it in our church library for others to be blessed and encouraged by it.

  464. Lauren Gardiner says:

I’m truly greatful for the God we serve. I thank the Lord that I can trust him through any situation in my life. Its what is carrying me through this time after the sudden passing of my father a few weeks ago. I truly feel that this book would impact me deeply during this time. I need to focus on the Lords promises that he will never leave me or forsake me! He is a loving God who’s mercy and grace we cannot even begin to comprehend!! A God we can trust with every cell in our being. That we can know with complete surety that we will meet with Him oneday, as well as see our loved ones again for those that love Him and seek his face.

  465. This is so beautiful and timely for me! Thank you.

  466. “The God who holds the stars holds you.”
A good reminder and perspective as I personally face fears related to an uncertain future. I was encouraged by this post and would love to read the book.

  467. Nicki White says:

I hate to ask for one of the 10 copies, because I’m sure others need it just as much (if not more ) than I do. But right now I NEED IT!! I’m 45 days post-divorce, and am REALLY struggling. I didn’t want this divorce, yet it was thrust upon me. We’d been together 30yrs, married 24, and are both 47yo. I honestly don’t know what to do; my life as I know it is over. I will have to figure out a new life for myself, somehow, someday. My kids are gone, and if it weren’t for my 3 Labs, I’d be in the nuthouse by now!! So I humbly ask for one of the copies. Thank you.

  468. I would love to win Sally’s book. I keep debating if I should read it.

  471. Fear is ever with me as I face the days ahead with an undiagnosed disease weakening my body. I think this book would be a blessing to me.

  472. I would love for my daughter to read this book. She is in graduate school and is facing many, many decisions right now with her young life and future.
