4. Blog Hop Thursday ~ All day and night!

What would OBS be without our beloved Blog Hop?  We don’t want to know do we?

Please choose one of the following topics for this week’s discussion. (The names in BOLD are suggested titles)

    1. With All My Heart.
We’ve been studying and meditating on our memory verse all week. Share what loving God with all your heart, soul, and strength means to you or what God has spoken to you through this verse. Deuteronomy 6:5, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

    2. A Soul Longing For More.
On page 14 Lysa talks about how we’ve become “so familiar with God yet so unaware.” Our soul truly does long for a richer experience. What are some actions steps you can take each day to become more aware of God’s presence? How can you intentionally pursue God even in the middle of “life’s mundane activities?”

    3. Palms Up.
In the Bible Study section at the end of the chapter Lysa asks, “What is holding you back from going deeper in your relationship with God?” List one or more things you sense holding you back (fear, intimidation, lack of confidence, etc). Use your Bible study tools to find scriptures that will help you apply God’s truth in this area. Determine to release, surrender and move forward with #PALMSUP receiving all God has for you.

    4. #yestogod.
Share a time you caught a “glimpse of eternity” as you said yes to what God was asking you to do.

***If you are unsure about the Blog Hop, no worries. It’s an optional activity, and we will help out anyone who wishes to participate. Details will be emailed to you.

Here we go ladies! Don’t let today’s email overwhelm you. It’s an overview, that’s all. This is your study and you do it your way. Do what works for you! We provide a lot of opportunities for participation so that everyone has choices for what works for them.

Get those #PalmsUp and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow for our first assignment. (Read Chapter 1)

Hugs to all My Yes Girls!

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

      Hi Rusti,
So glad you are here. I am excited too! Yay!

    • Barbara Prince OBS Small Group Leader/Prayer Warrior Team says:

Hi Rusti, I’m excite too. And just think, it keeps getting better!!

    • shanika Robinson says:

      Good Morning,
I am sitting at my table palms up ready to hear from God through this study. My son was diagnosed with Leukemia in Feb, and this has been one of the hardest trials to deal with. The Lord has graced us through, and I just want to say YES!!!!

      • shanika Robinson says:

I live in Baltimore Maryland by the way!!

        • Shanika We got u girl I am a member of a small group of nurses at Childrens in D.C. that are yes girls so we are going to cover you and your son in prayer . God bless you both.

      • Shanika,
I am sorry to hear about your son. What type of Leukemia does he have? I was diagnosed with APL in May of 2012. I know how terrifying this can be. I will keep him and you in my prayers. I hope that you are able to find wonderful and knowledgeable doctors. May God bless you during this trial. I don’t know if this will help, but two songs really help me in dealing with this “storm” in my life. One is “Blessings” by Laura Story and the other is “Praise you in this Storm”. May these be a comfort for you as well.

      • Shanika,

I will be praying for you.I am a caregiver for a man who was diagnosed with ALL. He had a bone marrow transplant and I thank God every day that he is still alive. He has many complications, but we can see improvements every day.

Please remember, Jesus is right there with you and your son.

    • Mia Herne says:

I am so thrilled to be a part of this study. Its like a breath of fresh air pulling me out of my pity party of uninvited guests. Showing me I don’t need to look down at woe is me , but I can look up with my palms opened up knowing and trusting God is up to something immeasureably more then all I dare or think of. My husband and I are in our 3rd year living in Maine . We listened to the LORD’s prompting and we followed not knowing what HE has in store for us. HE provided us with an amazing home. Before our move , my Joe received and injury from a fall. As time progressed healing didn’t happen . He was getting worse. I finally spoke up and said we need to seek help . We did not have insurance and our income well thats another story. God intervened and got us wonderful medical care for Joe. Without the care he has received he would be paralysised by now. He is disabled . Mornings are tough so making going to churchis a real chore. We haven’t been to church for about 8 months now. We have wonderful devotions and prayer tme. Sometimes when Joe is even feeling good we venture up into the mountians near us for our time with the LORD. We can drink in His majesty as we see the vastness of the mountains. Then we return home and are amazed by the tiny , tiny yellow flower growing in the crack in our driveway. Sometimes the only people I see are in the grocery store.
This study has brought me back to my priorities. Putting first things first. It has reminded me to love the LORD my God with all my heart , with all my soul and with all my strength. My heart is filled with joy as I allow Him to rejoice over me with gladness as he quiets me with His love . He knows how to quiet me with His love. Just think He even rejoices over me with singing. As Corrie ten Boom once said its time to nestle not wrestle . Yes LORD , see my palms are open to You . I am claiming the promise of Eph 3:20 …You are going to do immeasurbly more then I could ever think possible .

  2. I am so very excited about this study! I have my journal, my highlighters, a special pen (I’m funny like that), and am ready to go! I signed up for the calls too. So excited about that part. I’m here in Arizona so I don’t know how everything will work, but I know one thing, I am ready to say yes to God! I would love to participate in the blog hop too. How do we get details on that in order to get involved?

    • Christa H (OBS Leadership Team) says:

On Thursday, Melissa will provide instructions on how to include your blog in the blog hop. It is easy and links to dozens of awesome blogs will pop up right here on the study page as Yes Girls share their hearts. It is one of our favorite days in OBS as we see all the different ways that God is using the study to move and shake. In the meantime, start working on your blog post using one of the topics listed so you will be ready on Thursday! Note to mom-bloggers (like me!): it is not required to write a blog, but you will be totally blessed by reading what others have written!

      • Christa H (OBS Leadership Team) says:

Oops—that should have been a special note to -NON-bloggers, but mom-bloggers will be blessed too! LOL!

      • This sounds fun! Blogging is new for me and I am ready to try. :-)

        • Jean Bird says:

I am new to blogging as well but would like to hop on the blog hopping wagon myself.

          • Mia Herne says:

me three ! I too am new to blogging ! I enjoy writing and that has been on the back burner. Just maybe maybe things will start happening as I recapture something I think I lost .

      • AnnettaS. says:

I will be startingmy blog with this P31 OBS! I am so excited!!!

      • Stephanie Simpson says:

I can’t wait either. I have never been part of a blog and hope I don’t miss out on anything that I should be doing. So I hope I pick up on this.

        • Barbara Prince OBS Small Group Leader/Prayer Warrior Team says:

Girls, you will be amazed at how easy blogging is once you get started. I am so technically illiterate, that I had to call for help, but even I got the hung of it. Of course, I love reading other’s blogs the best!
So, Melissa, Annetta, and Stephanie, you just go for it! I’ll be looking forward to your blogs.

          • Mary Beth says:

OK – I am going to sound so stupid, but can you tell me how to start a blog? Is there a web site you go to? I am embarrassed to ask, but I won’t know the answer unless I do!! Thanks!

          • Don’t be embarrassed, Mary Beth. I am wondering the same thing. I know there are places like WordPress and Ning where you can start a blog. Does offer an area for blogs? I’m so excited to be a part of this OBS. Thank U!

      • So cool! I read the book this spring, but at She Speaks, God nudged me to sign up for the study anyhow. Now I know why – I have been encouraged to start my blog, which I have been working on since I returned from the conference. I kept telling myself that it will be ready to go by August 31st. Looks like God has picked a different date for me with this blog hop! So excited by His amazing hand in my life!

        • Kendra, isn’t it awesome when we listen to that God-nudge!!!! I read through chapter 4 on the plane as I headed out of town for business and I loved Lysa’s steps to discern what is God and what is Me! Don’t stress over your blog! Share from your heart and let God give you the words and it will be awesome! I will be looking for it and am so excited to be able to comment on YOUR first blogpost! God is good! and you are amazing as you follow His will! Hugs!

          • Phoebe Patterson says:

Thank you for the words Share from your heart and let God give you the words! I have never blogged and anxious because what should I say. Now I will remember, let God do the talking! Thanks for helping us get started!

      • Thank for explaining “blog hop”!! That will be neat!

      • I am so reassured that I am not the only one new to blogging :) I can not wait to dive in to our OBS. For the past several years I have felt like I was on an edge with all of my wildest hopes and dreams and longings on the other side with God patiently waiting for me to leap. Well, I’m leaping!!! Thank you Melissa and all of you fabulous “yes” girls out there !! What an amazing journey this will be !!

        • Traci – it’s so exciting to see so you moving out of your comfort zone and taking the LEAP of Faith! Harvest House publishing had a Twitter Post the other day that said how they just LOVED to watch people take that Leap of Faith ~ and so do I. I am new to ‘building my platform’ – meaning using my blog, using Twitter, FB, Instagram, etc. to promote my faith through social media – reaching out to as many as possible and touching perhaps just one person each time I write something – a blog, a status, etc. I will be praying for you as you take off and begin making those wildest hopes and dreams come to life! HUGS Looking forward to all of Thursday’s blogs!

    • Kelly, I too have ,y Bible, highlighters and special colored pens. :). I’m funny like that too. so excited for this journey.

    • Where are you in AZ, Kelly?

  3. Yes! God I am listening! I can’t wait to get deeper into this study!

  4. It’s 0530 and I am so excited I’m doing the ‘yes girl rock’ with my palms up.

    • Marlene, OBS FB Small group leader says:

Lirap, I am with you! Ever since I found out about #Palmsup my palms bounce when I say or think it!! I am so glad we are all taking this journey together and learning to say #YestoGod.

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

      Palms up is right. Welcome!!!!

  5. Shema
… there will be no perfect time to say yes to GOD
full of Thanks for the link to chapter as I wait for my book to arrive …

  6. This will be my first bible study in a while, and my first online bible study to boot! I am so excited to listen to God’s voice, and delve into His word. I feel like I’ve needed to get my relationship with Him out of the stagnant position and I’m praying this bible study will be the vehicle to do that.

    • Erin Schafer says:

I am also hoping this study will help me get my relationship with Him out of the stagnant position. I will be praying for you, too!

    • Joanna and Erin,
I am in the same boat-has been 3 years since my last Bible study and this is my first online. I will pray for all of us to grow closer to Him through this study.

    • MaryEllen says:

I’m in that boat with you ladies! First study in a long time, first online study. So excited to see what God is going to say to us as we say “yes” to Him!

      • Melissa S OBS Group Leader says:

I am praying for you girls! God is going to bless this time that you have set aside for him. I am thanking him right now for you all.

      • Welcome Mary Ellen, Joanna, Colleen, Sherrt, Karen, Jackie, Sherise and all of you joining an OBS for the first time! No experience necessary here! We will all learn and grow together. So happy you are here!

        • That is the true beauty of OBS. We are all here in it together and as we get to know each other and we will, you will be totally amazed at how God uses this blog to get us to the person or persons we need most to hear from! I know that when I first started OBS back with Unglued, I was so not sure what or where God was taking me. Now 3 studies later here I am and just as excited as ever! Did you notice that all you “newbies” made much the same post! It is great to not have to feel like I have to be all in a pretty package! Please don’t hesitate to ask questions! If you are wondering there are more than likely others who are uncertain about the same subject! Praying that you each find the path and continue to make imperfect progress. For those of you who are newbies that is something we discussed at length in Unglued and know that as you take these first faltering steps you will find yourself delving deeper as you read a post and suddenly think: “Wait a minute is that sister in my head or what?” Then you realize just how wonderful and real it is to remember who you are and where you have been. Praying for each of us as we continue to travel this great Adventure with God as our Driver and some amazing Ladies leading us forward! God Bless you sisters! oops maybe I do need to start thinking about a blog considering the length of some of my posts. HMMMMMMM!

          • Go for it, Elaine! The blogging, that is! I am new to OBS, and share many of the previous entrants feeling that our relationship to God has become stagnant, and I am excited to dig into this study. I have blogged, however, and that is very rewarding and exciting. I am considering a dedicated blog for Bible studies.

Looking forward to hopping to your blog!

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

Joanna, I am praying that your relationship is strenghtened and you seek Him first above everything else. Welcome Sweet Sister!

    • Tina Eubanks says:

Our God is so smart!!! He always gives the exact study that I, personally, need. However, I hope God has the biggest bullhorn to get my attention…….I can be stubborn. Also, I have the hardest time making time for God. I am so ashamed to say that. I want to spend time with the Lord every day. I crave a deep and intimate relationship with our Creator. The only way to that intimate relationship is to stay in His Word and have my Palms UP!!!!!!!! I am excited!!!

      • Linda Paver says:

Oh Tina, I am so with you. Your comments sounds so much like my situation!! I, too, crave a deep and intimate relationship with God and sometimes I do say “yes” to God, but not often enough. I have the discipline to start. Now, I pray God will help me be disciplined enough to not just say I want this, but to actually make “Yes, God” a part of who I am and internalize what this means for me. So, I have my “Palms Up” and am ready to get out of my complacent rut! Go, Jesus:-)

      • Hi Tina – Don’t be ashamed to say that – look at the replies and support you are generating by being truthful with yourself. A simple little thing I do to have more time with God is to lift up a little “Thank you” every time something makes me smile. After awhile you find that you start looking for reasons to smile and the dialogue with God begins to unfold. I’m also famous for singing when I drive. It’s nothing for me to sing loudly (especially to anything by Hillsong), raise my hands in praise and have tears streaming down my face while I’m going down the road. I LOVE those moments in God’s presence. Palms up and get ready to receive !!

    • Theresa Kent says:

Hi Joanna, this is my first bible study in awhile also and my very first OBS. I am excited but I am some what reserved most of the time. I have my journal and pens and highlighters, just waiting for the book, it should be here this week, I hope. Anyway blessings to you and all on this journey, may we all be richly blessed by this study.

    • brittany jacobson says:

well welcome Joanna your gonna love it,

    • This is my first study as well and and really looking forward to it. Right now I am just so hurt by the church I attended that I don’t want it to ruin my relationship with the most important person in my life, GOD. Pray for me ladies that God directs me.

      • Letitia King says:

        Mary Beth,

I will be praying for you. I understand where you are coming from. I too was hurt badly by a group in my church and it is so painful to see a side of people that you didn’t know was there. My husband and I have been looking for a new church home since November and the fear of getting involved in another church is terrifying. I am trying really hard to focus on God and look to where He is directing me/us to be. I’ll pray the same for you.

      • Karri (obs leader/blog team) says:

        Praying for you!!

      • Judy Huffman says:

Last year around this time, I was in the midst of a church change so I can relate to what you are going through. I found myself grieving through the process, which is normal. A year later, I feel much better. It took saying yes to God to leading a women’s Bible study to help me get over the “hump.” Praying you will remember that God will never fail you like people can and that you will not let discouragement set in. God will love you through this transition,

  7. Read my first chapter last evening in anticipation of today’s study. Off to a great start. Gonna be another great book and study by Lysa and the girls!!

    • April,
I also read the first chapter in anticipation of this study last night! I must admit too that I was up in the wee hours for another reason and checked my email for this morning’s first post. (4:30ish EST). :-)

  8. Edwina Cowgill says:

    Hi Melissa,

I’m so excited to start this study! Looking forward to all that God has for each of us!

  9. I’m so excited!!! Thank you for organizing us Yes girls and providing support for us so when we hear God say it… We have the courage to do it!!!

  20. Woohoo, Happy Sunday Mercies

  21. Palms UP and ready to dive into the word and this bible study with you ladies. God is good ALL the time.

  22. I have been looking so forward to doing this on line study, My Church has been going through turmoil for several years now after our founding Pastor passed away. With having gone through two Pastors my family has fallen away from regular attendance. With excitement this morning, I am starting this in Prayer for all of us to be open and receptive to what God has in store for us. I am saying Yes to God and holding Him High in my study and in my life which is where I need to have Him. Sorry so long, but just had to say it.

    In Him,

    • Christa H (OBS Leadership Team) says:

Good for you. Kelly. I know how you feel as our church as been in turmoil also. It is hard to keep your focus on Jesus when everything else is a mess. But our church is seeing the light at the end of e tunnel and I hope your’s is too.

    • Sue Shockley says:

I have had a similar experience Kelly. It has been two years since I attended church regularly and that was after trying two different churches for over a year. The church I was saved in and attended faithfully for 10 years lost our pastor and the church actually dissolved. I so miss the fellowship of other sisters in Christ and I am so excited about this study!!! Thanks for your post. It’s nice to know I am not alone.

      • Barbara Prince OBS Small Group Leader/Prayer Warrior Team says:

Sue, I am asking God to direct you to a safe and Biblically sound church where you will be part of a family. OBS is a good place to start, because we are a family here too! You will be loved, accepted, and encouraged. I pray that this study will be life changing for you.
        Be blessed my sister.

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

Please know your OBS sisters are praying for you and your church. I was in a very similar situation.

  23. Jane Taylor says:

It’s finally here. I started reading approx. 3:30am and just finished before getting ready for church. ” My palms are up: I don’t know how but I want to know and experience You. These fears I have, well, You aren’t going to move from my side.” I don’t have my book yet and am so thankful you put the first lesson online.

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

      Hi Jane,
So glad you are here. I was up way past my bedtime last night too:-) Praying sweet sister!

  24. Palms up, I am ready to receive ALL what God wants be to be! God has already spoke to me through chapter 1, I also am beginning to Journal so this is exciting for me!

    • Me too, Mary!

    • Amen! I feel God’s presence and I know this Bible study will Bless all of us! I also pulled out my journal as I studied the first chapter…I had not journaled in over a year and reading back over my past journal entries, I realized just how far God has brought me. I am so excited for this. In my Spirit, I feel JOY, and I’m expecting to see, hear, and feel GOD like never before. God is going to move in our lives. I Pray this study Blesses you in the way you need and brings you closer to God!

      • Jessica, Every study here at OBS is full of God’s Presence! We have the most amazing Jesus Girls all together in one place, studying The Word, Praying over each other, and just reaching out to grow in Christ together! I am so glad that you are on this journey with us! God has showed out since we announced this study – He’s been showing out ever since! and I KNOW it’s going to be full of GREAT blessings!

  25. Jeanie Kelley says:

WOW just saw the video for week one. I love the concept of having your palms up to receive something. Also the verse for the week Deut. 6:5 is so important for me. Love the Lord with all your mind soul and strength. Oh to get that in our heads so we do not love other stuff. To really begin putting off the world and say yes to God. Awesome video this morning. Blessings and Keep Smiling.

    • My church sings a song based on Deuteronomy 6:5 that I absolutely love. I’m thinking I need to add it to my playlist!

      • If you can I would love for you to share it with us! For many of us praise and worship music helps to cement the Word! God Bless and can’t wait to see where this path will lead me!

  26. Phranases says:

I am so excited and ready to get started

    • Barbara Prince OBS Small Group Leader/Prayer Warrior Team says:

So glad you have join us, Phranases. I know you will be blessed by our Father.

  27. I have personalized the memory verse from the Message translation: “Love God, my God, with my whole heart: love him with all that’s in me, love him with all I’ve got (no matter what the circumstances!)” I am saying “Yes, God!” #PalmsUp

  28. I am so so excited to start this journey with all you beautiful ladies! The video literally gave me chills!! So many women from so many different places in life coming together to say YES to GOD! First day of the first week and I seriously can’t wait to see what God has in store for each and every one of us. Have a blessed week ladies:)

  29. Susan Bogdanoff says:

Ok, so this is my first time with an online Bible study…I’m nervous and excited, but am saying YES to God with Palms UP, and hanging on for the Ride! WHEEEEEE!

  30. Palms are up and ready to say yes to God. A verse that I wrote in my journal last week comes from Isaiah 49:16 “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands”

  31. My palms are up and I am ready to hear from God! Thank you Melissa and Nicki for explaining so clearly for all of us “newbies”. I am no longer nervous, only excited!

  32. Lena Keys says:

I see this will be a very interesting bible study just from the questions from the blog hop. I believe I will be able to get some questions answered about myself and my relationship with God. I know in this bible study I will get out what I put in, I am searching for so much in my spiritual life and how to handle things. I am ready and willing, Yes God I am ready and willing to receive whatever you have for me with my “Palms Up and Open”.

  33. Yes, yes, yes,….here we go! Palms up and calling out to God. :-) Thank you, OBS Team, for this great opportunity to study the God’s word and fellowship with ladies around the world. :-)

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

    • Beth A. (OBS Team Leader) says:

Yes Kim! Perfect surrender not perfect performance! So happy to have you here :)
      Love and Prayers!

    • One day at a time… and this is your study. There are lots of options… don’t let that get you overwhelmed. Think about the purpose of this study- you, saying Yes to God… and keep that in the forefront. Prayers for you… Thanks for joining us!
Lauren, P31 OBS Small Group Leader

  36. Samara (in England) says:

I’m really excited to get on with this study! It seems like really good timing in my life, so can’t wait to see what God is going to do with me, and all you lovely ladies! Let’s get our palms up and hearts open to Him! x

  37. So excited to get started with this study and even more excited to start blogging about my journey chasing after Him!

  38. “There are no perfect circumstances…” Amen to that! I’ve got these meager #PalmsUp and am ready for God to fill them with anything He desires. The video was so encouraging, Nicki and Melissa – thank you!

  39. So excited to start this Bible Study and see what amazing plans God will be revealing these next few weeks! :-D

  41. It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for the OBS to start. FINALLY, we’re here. I am very excited to start on this journey. I am apprehensive also, and I don’t really know why. I think it’s because I’m not really sure what it means to say Yes to God, and put my life in his hands completely. I am eager to start down that path with all of you and with our #PALMS UP

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

Yes, Penny. We are so excited you are here and please know OBS sisters are praying for you!!!!!

  42. I was so excited to open my email and get this study started. This is my first online bible study. I have felt so restless lately and like God has something in store for me, but I just can’t hear what it is. I am hoping this study will help me to learn how to listen better and hear God better and be all I can be for Him. My palms are up and I am so ready and excited to receive His word!

    • Terri, I have been feeling the exact same way -restless and wanting to do whatever He has planned for me but just not sure how all that looks!! I have you in my journal and am praying for you!

  43. Yay! This is going to be great! Thanks for an awesome first post! I look forward to seeing everything God does through this study.

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

I am so excited too. Yay. So glad you are here, Judy.

  44. SO EXCITED, couldn’t wait to get to my email, now to my book :o)

  45. What a great way to start our Sunday morning. I am ready to say Yes to God. Feeling overwhelmed in my current circumstances and needed the Deut reference this morning. This is my very first OBS and also feeling a little overwhelmed with how to get the most out of the online tools. I appreciate all the help everyone has been so far. Looking forward to a great time in the Word with other Godly women.

  46. My palms are up! I’m ready to say Yes to God!!! #PalmsUp

    • Kristy Aiken~ OBS Group Leader/ Prayer Warrior Blog Team Leader says:

Me too, sweet sister! I am ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. I’m so excited. I am finally going to let go #Palms Up and say yes to God.

  48. Living in obedience to God and the truth in His word, the Bible, is the BEST place to be! Palms up!

  49. I have never done an online bible study before and I am excited to get going on this one!

  50. Can’t stop thinking about the idea of DIVINE APPOINTMENTS … I am saying yes to these appointments and want to show up prepared, early and surrendering. What an awesome visual I have of these beautiful words. When I put my head down on my pillow each night I want to be confident that I didn’t miss one single DIVINE APPOINTMENT that our Lord had for me! Day 1 and I’m pumped!

    • Marlene, OBS FB Small group leader says:

Jenny, a group called Divine Appointment is singing at our church tonight so your reference to that really caught my attention. I love the visual. Thanks for sharing.

  51. I am so very excited about this study! I feel blessed!

  52. What a thrill to finally be starting our bible study!!!!!! I have had so much opposition since signing up I am looking forward to all that God is going to do in my life, and in all of our lives Yay!!!!!!

  53. So excited for this OBS!!! Loved the video, and the end with all the different pictures and countries represented was really cool!!! #PALMSUP!!! :)

  54. Words cannot express how excited I am to finally begin this study. Looking forward to seeing how God works in his beautiful gals through this study!! # PalmsUp and heart open!

  55. Sandra Tichnor says:

Went to church this am and during the Praise and Worship I raised my hands Palms up to recieve, and My God did not disappoint, my Pastors message was spot on what I needed to hear. ON hope, Psalm 42:5b. Put your (my) hope in God, for I will yet Praise him, my Saviour and my God..

  56. With my schedule being the way it is, it is easier for me to do my Bible Study on Sunday morning before worship. I like doing it that way anyway because it helps to prepare my heart for worship, and quite frankly this study could not have come at a better time so I read chapter 1 and did the Bible study at the end. I got a lot out of it. I’m excited to stay encouraged during the week.

  57. Tears were streaming down my checks while I was watching the video Melisssa & Nicki made to start out our study. I really believe God has some big changes to make in my heart. So excited (& a little scared) to say Yes to God!

  58. I am soo ready to say “YES TO GOD” I so want to learn how Lysa says “recognise His voice, live in expectation of His activity and embrace a life totally sold out for HIM” page 18.

  59. Lisa McDonald says:

    Good Morning Yes Girls!
I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I’ve been waiting for this day and I’m looking forward to what God has in store for me. This is my first bible study EVER. I thought online would work best for me. I’m looking forward to all of the activities so that I can learn how to do this. Thank you so much for the ease in this. My palms are up and I’m ready.

  60. I have a silly question: how do you add a picture on your comment? I would love to do that.

  61. This is my first online bible study! I’m excited! I’ve never used social media in this way and I’m excited to learn and make connections with other Christian women!

  62. Amy Lambert says:

I am ready to say “Yes to God” with my #PalmsUp! I read the first chapter last night in anticipation of today because I could not wait to get started. The Lord spoke great things to me already and I am eagerly waiting to see what He will lead me to do through this study! My heart is anxious to hear from Him! Praying for everyone of us. Let’s all say YES!

  63. I am so thankful this study has started. I have been looking forward to it.

  64. I’m so excited! I’d like to share with you guys that last night at church I said the big yes…. I got baptized!! I’ve been baptized before, but it was because I was told to. This time I made the decision on my own. The message was about commitment and I felt God tugging at my heart. After Saturday night’s service was baptism and I just asked the question, “when is the next baptism?” The baptism team told me they do it after Saturday and Sunday service; however, we you can do it today! I said yes and I was whisked off to change into the shorts and t-shirt the church provides. I feel amazing and brand new! I don’t think I could have said yes at a better time! :)

    • Courtney – HALLELUJAH!!! That is an awesome thing that God worked out in your heart. How exciting to be embarking on this study of saying Yes to God with THAT event as your kick-off! Thank you for sharing that with us and we pray God continues to bless you as you commit your way to Him!

      • Courtney says:

Thank you! I’m so excited! This time I fully understand the commitment I’ve made. I’m ready to have my best life in God!

    • Welcome to the family of God, my new sister in Christ! Congratulations on your first “Yes!” to God. You will never be sorry, and God will bless you in a mighty way, if you stay close to Him and continue in with a life of “Yes!” to Him.

    • Courtney, your YES to God made my heart smile :)

    • What a sweet and wonderful way to become a Yes to God Girl! Tears are dripping so I have to sit back and type! Thank you Lord for bring Courtney to this place in her life! This is going to be a wonderful study and talk about Palms up! Praises and thank you for sharing such a wonderful message on this our first day together!

      • Thank you Elaine! Every time I think about the decision I’ve made, I just break out into tears! There’s isn’t a better choice I could have made! I am so excited about this study and to fellowship with all you!

    • Linda Clark says:

AWESOME ….buried with Christ…raised to walk in His likeness!

  65. AnnettaS. says:

WOW!!! I wish we could take a picture of all the palms raised up to GOD! What a beautiful sight to behold. GOD will surely be smiling as HIS Daughters will outwardly be displaying the inward surrender of our hearts, mind and soul to HIS WILL! I am humbled by the thought! FOR HIS GLORY we were fearfully and wonderfully created!

    • Annetta,
I saw your comment and immediately wanted to take a picture of someone holding their palms up, so I used my daughters for models and took a few shots of their hands, palms up! I wish I could share them here, but it looks like there is no way to share photos. Anyway, thank you for the inspirational thought! It really is beautiful to think of all of the women holding their palms up to God, ready to receive whatever he has for us.

  66. Already read chapter one and answered the questions. I’m looking forward to rereading it today and keeping my heart and eyes open for God this week as I say YES!

  67. I am very excited about this class. This is my first one. Ready to say yes to God!

  68. Colleen Stewart says:

I’m so excited!!! This is my first online Bible study. I’m ready to be a yes girl!!!
    Blessing to all <3

  69. Sherrt S says:

So excited about the study. I have not been in a online studty or a blog.

  70. So excited to start. I also have my book on my kindle marker and a notebook. My sister in Decatur IL will be starting also as will a great friend here in MI. Melissa and Nicki bring it on my palms are up.

  71. Awesome day! It’s raining in Winter Garden and I want The Lord to flood my heart with His unfailing love. My victory is in my Yes to God.

  72. I am so ready too! I enjoyed Lysa’s blog so much today it really led me to dig deep in my heart.

  73. Teri Beaver says:

Im very new to all this online stuff, even doing bible study was when l was a kid to early teen, but hey God lead me here to find this study. HE knew I needed help coming home to him, so here I am. Yes God I’m ready!

  74. Stephanie says:

Thanks so much for putting the first chapter on here. My book is seemingly “stuck” in between KY and my mailbox in Wisconsin. It was nice to be able to start with everyone else. I”m excited for this study, and yet feel that same warning in my head that says, “that sounds like too much work, or too crazy or something.” I hope that voice learns to go bother someone else. I know now that it has been holding me back from seeing God at work.

    • Karri (obs leader/blog team) says:

You are at the right place to “hush that voice!” Remember, one of the many beauties of OBS is, you go at your own pace! It’s about doing real life together so if you ever get “behind” do not worry! Just make a point to check this site daily (if possible)
Glad you are #PalmsUp and ready to say “YES!” to God!

  75. Palms up! I’m so excited that this OBS is finally here! Praying for Melissa, Nicki, the Proverbs 31 team and all my OBS sisters as we begin this journey together. May we all learn how to say “yes” to God more and more.

  76. Michelle says:

This is my first time trying an on line study. Believing the Lord has something for me at this time in this study. Saying Yes to God, again, afresh, anew. Starting a new chapter of life in a new direction with My Lord.

  77. I’m looking forward to this bible study. I already had this book and read it a few months ago but looking forward to reading it again with you all and getting everyone’s perspective on it. The last few months I have been feeling very disconnected and have been keeping to myself . I’m looking forward to reconnecting with God and want to try to do better at answering yes to God.

    • Karri (obs leader/blog team) says:

I too have felt “disconnected”….We are definitely in the right place to get reconnected with God. Every day, I have to schedule my time in with God and having bible studies makes me more aware of how important reading God’s word is. It’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity. Happy Reading dear sister!!

  78. Karri (obs leader/blog team) says:

This is an amazing sensation seeing all these women who are #PalmsUp and ready to go! I have to make myself stop reading ahead and actually do my devotional questions and do the bible reading. The book just grabs me and I want to keep going! I am so ready to get to know you ladies better! Happy Reading!

  79. Wow Palms up I love it!!! I have been wanting to get closer to God and I believe this is the first step palms up!!!! Amazing story about the bible on the plane really got me to thinking…..How many divine appointments I have passed up! Thanks so much for this bible study!

  80. CarolAnne says:

Yes To God — Palms Up — Thank You for an exciting beginning : ) xo

  81. Janet F (OBS Prayer Warrior Team) says:

Love the video and this weeks Phrase #Palms Up!!! My palms are up and ready!!! I think my palms have been down a lot in my life!! :( SO excited for this week’s study. Here we go girls!! :)

  82. Renie Mccanney says:

My video keeps timing out right after the music starts help!

  83. Completely moved by the video this am and Chapter 1. Already the Lord is speaking to me and bringing down walls. Scared but ready…very ready.

  84. Sharlene says:

I am so excited about dong this online Bible Study. This is my first OSB. I am so ready to say Yes to God and draw closer to Him. I have been through so many troubles and trials this past year since I lost my job a year ago and I am still unemployed so this Bible study is just what I need at this point in my life. I am excited to see how God is going to work in all of our lives.

    • Dear Lord, we lift up our sister Sharlene to you. We ask you to bring a peace that passes her understanding right to her heart as she continues to seek you throughout this study. Open her heart to all that you have for her as she bravely says YES to you, God, despite her circumstances. We thank you for loving her and providing for her every need, God. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen!

    • Shirley Allen says:

A statement Graham Cooke made in his book A Divine Confrontation, Birth Pangs of the New Church states “God’s majesty is concealed within our vulnerability.” He goes on to say Vulnerability is given by God to release His presence, which builds self-esteem and confidence in God’s sovereignity. Insecurity occurs when the enemy twists our soul to reduce our self-esteem and cause us to focus on our shortcomings.” This certainly relates to me as a child of the King, saying “Palms Up”.

  85. Patricia says:

Just got done with chapter one and was crying after page 3. I’m so ready to say yes to God and let Him move mountains through my life! Sssoooo excited!!!

  86. Teliah Haywood says:

I am so excited can’t wait to get started.

  87. Melanie b says:

    Finally the day has arrived!
Thanks for your notes on pastor Furticks lesson today, Melissa
Going to hear it online later today

  88. Susan Williams says:

This is my first on-line Bible study. I am so excited. @palmsup ladies!

  89. Would love to sit in your kitchen discussing a bible study one day Melissa. Until then, I am ready to do what God says to do! I wanna live life “palms up” saying Yes to God!!

  90. Marie (Ree) says:

My head is in the game, my heart is open, my palms are up! Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

  91. Laura Sziy says:

Never done an online study before – ready to experience it!

    • Kelley Worley/Prayer Warrior Blog Team says:

      Welcome, Laura!!
These studies have changed my life! I have loved all of them. This study will be my 4th one. You will love the Bible teaching as well as the friendships you will form!!! :)

  92. Renee Bowman says:

As I watched the video, I was reminded of how I am sometimes fearful of saying yes to God. Sometimes God’s will is not my will and it frightens me. I am hoping that through this Bible study and conferring with all of you that I will become more trusting and really fully rely on God and be willing to do whatever he may ask me to do, even though I may need to venture outside of my comfort zone. I am ready to go out with my “palms up” to receive all of the blessings that he has waiting for me.

    • Renee, I understand exactly what you are saying. I hate to admit that for many years I would be prodded to do something and my first reaction was usually, God you cannot be talking to me! But you know he was and I usually listened but I truly wonder what I may have missed! When I was reading Chapter one, where Lysa is talking about her realization that she had missed opportunities by not listening I want to become that woman who begins the morning by saying yes before my feet ever hit the floor! Having said that I know I have a long road ahead! But our God is Awesome! #Palms up!

  93. Yes, Yes, Yes and YES! I’m so ready to say YES to God.

  94. So excited for my first OBS! :)

I would deeply appreciate a quick prayer. For about a month now I feel the Lord has been calling me to soemthing specific, but for the first time in my life, I’m scared to trust Him on this! So I’ve been praying for the Lord to increase my faith and to have an obedient heart. Everything Melissa and Nicki said in the video tugged my heart; the Lord is waiting for me to say “yes”! And the study hasnt even started yet, lol!

    • So glad you are here for this study Amanda. I pray God would give you confirmation and the courage to move out in faith.

    • Janet F (OBS Prayer Warrior Team) says:

Lord I pray for Amanda, You love her Lord and only want the best for her. I pray that she has a peace in her heart to trust You with her life and to say YES to You. Thank You Lord that You brought her to this study, none of us are here by accident and we know You have big plans for her through this study! In Jesus Name I pray AMEN!! So glad you are here Amanda ♥ God Bless!! :)

  95. My palms are up. I’m ready!
Melissa and Nicki I LOVE the new video format. Looking forward to the study and to seeing how God moves in my life as I say “yes” to Him.

A big shout out and welcome to all tha Aussies doing the study.

Blessings and love to you all

  96. Recently I have noticed my prayer posture change and I am now eyes closed, head up and palms up so when I watched the video it spoke to why the HS prompted that change in prayer posture in me. God is encouraging me to say Yes in every way even before I study began!

  97. Excited for my first OBS – ready to say YES TO GOD with my palms up. Have a wonderful and blessed week ladies.

  98. Laura S. says:

I am so excited to be starting this study! I just love the realness that Lysa uses when she writes and uses what the Lord has blessed her with sharing. I am doing my best each day saying “yes” to God, but I still want to go deeper! In His presence is where I long to be, always, day and night, everlasting sweet glorious presence of the Creator of the Universe! I am so in love with God! Thanks for doing this study with us!

  99. Robin Saxton says:

I’m looking forward to this Say Yes OBS. This is starting at a time when I know God is speaking to my heart about so many things. My Palms are Up!

  100. This study came right on time for me. I recently attempted to take my own life, obviously I was unsuccessful. My life has been in a turmoil for several years, many health problems and marital problems as well as losing my job. Satan has really been attacking me for a while and I was ready to just quit. God has other plans for me! I’m so excited about this study, I’ve read the entire book and now I’m ready to go back and absorb each thing God has for me from the book and you wonderful “yes girls”. Thank you for being willing servants of God. This being available has already blessed me and my life far more than I can explain. I’m ready to see what God has for me in this part of my life. Here I am palms up saying YES GOD!

    • Jane Taylor says:

Gigi, Iam excited for you. Our pastor reminded us today that its through our failures that we have teachable spirits. Failures teach us lessons. Look at Moses. I will be praying for you.

    • Gigi – we thank God for bringing you here to be prayed for, loved on, and encouraged. Praise God that you are reaching out and stepping out, in faith, to continue to hear Him speak to you!

Dear God, we lift up sweet Gigi to you. We ask you speak love over her life. Please open her heart to every Word you have for her. Help her to see you everywhere she turns and know that you are with her always. Thank you for never leaving her or forsaking her, God. We praise you for the mighty things you are going to do in Gigi’s life during this study and after! We ask you to guard her mind and heart against the fiery darts of the evil one and make her strong in You, Lord. In Jesus Name we pray, AMEN!

      • Janet F (OBS Prayer Warrior Team) says:

I am in agreement with you and your prayer for Gigi Missy!!! Thank you Lord for the answers in advance and for loving Gigi

        • I stand with you sisters! Gigi I am so glad you were not successful and God has led you here! You are in my prayers and as we continue I pray that every where you turn you may see Him and what a Good and Perfect Plan he has for you!

    • Gigi, I am so glad your attempt was unsuccessful!! Praise God He knew this was just what you needed, just when you needed it. May He richly bless you as you study His Word and say YES! to Him. Love and prayers, my sister!

      • Thank you Jane,Missy, Janet, Elaine and Pamela. I pray that I am now ready to follow where God is leading me, getting myself out of the way. I look forward to creating strong Christian friendships with each of you. God truly blessed me I was left daily for 10 days while I was basically unconscious. My husband would come home, sleep for a while, shower and go back to work 16 hour shifts. There were so many things that could have happened, yet I know that God had His protective hand on me. My purpose isn’t filled on this earth yet so it’s time for me to crawl out of my hole of misery and get back on track. I thank each of you for the support and I thank God for sending my sisters to love on me when He knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it. May God bless each of you in a very special way. My love and prayers to each of you!

    • Debi Schuhow says:

Gigi, I feel your turmoil and despair as I too struggled with depression, abusive co workers, crazy family dynamics, social isolation, and being hurt by church family. I ask God to help you keep an OPEN mind about the answers he has already prepared for you There are many actions you can take but only God, knowing every cell of your body/ every fiber of your being, has the perfect answers for you. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and read many books. I recommend that you read John Piper’s book”When I don’t desire God: How to fight for joy”. You can download this book for free at It’s free as a pdf file. You will need adobe reader to read it but that application is also free. I’ll be keeping an eye out for you! :)

      • Debi Schuhow says:

Whoops! Should read Read Chapter 12 first. When the darkness does not lift.

        • Thank you Debi. I will go right now and download this book and read chapter 12! God bless you my new friend and sister in Christ!

  101. Jane Taylor says:

I went to church today with my palms up and our pastor preached on Hebrews 11 the faith chapter. Hoping for things you can’t see…that’s faith. We learned by Moses example that failure in life teaches us lessons. We can’t hide sin …it finds us out. Satan doesn’t want results to be glorifying to God. its in our failures that leads us to a teachable Spirit. wow….today I was having our 21 yr old wayward daughter for dinner and to go through her belongings that are still here and I prayed that I would be strong like Moses mom was…take my stand with her and not compromised who I am in the Lord for fear of distancing her further. God is so good. She didn’t scream at me, she wouldn’t pray with me but I prayed over her and she listened. The rest is God’s business. I am looking forward to more opportunites to obey God.

    • My pastor too spoke on Hebrews 11. What a wonderful chapter to meditate on before the dinner with your daughter. I am the mother of a 20 year old daughter and I will pray for the relationship between you and your daughter. God will continue to pursue her and draw her into His kingdom.

  102. Sandy Smith says:

Finished the first chapter. Excited and a little scared just like some of the other ladies said. God always asks for more than I can accomplish in my own power #Palmsup #YestoGod. I have listened to the last 2 weeks sermons from Elevation Church as well as attending my own local small church so that I maybe in tune to what God is saying. My prayer is to stay faithful through full time job, full time school (1st time in 30 yrs) and helping my daughter recover from being sick with multiple kidney stones.

  103. Donna Newsome says:

So do I have to have the DVD in order to participate? I am a little confused, as the study book references watching it.

  104. Well, off to a slower start than I am used to….but the book seems interesting and challenging and I like to think that I say yes to God even if I do question the challenge at times…right now I am challenged with a diagnosis of breast cancer and due for a second surgery in a few days then treatments to yet be determined and I am saying yes to God to accept whatever is in store for me in the days/weeks ahead…that I can be of comfort to my family…that I can help others (as others have helped me thus far) to accept what we cannot change, change the things we can and the wisdom to know the difference…I feel the spirit of God thru the many friends and well wishers who are with me on this journey. Peace & love

    • Hi Earline – you are walking so bravely in God’s strength. I pray He shows you how perfect His strength can be through your weakness.

Lord God, we pray for Earline’s coming surgery – that you would give the surgeons and medical team all wisdom as they work. We pray for strength of mind, soul, and heart as Earline helps her family and comforts those who need it. Please continue to bring Earline comfort, Lord. And we pray that Your Perfect Peace will flood Earline so that there is no room for fear or doubt. Thank you for loving her tenderly. In Jesus’ Name we pray, AMEN!

  105. Glenda S. says:

Im doing this study with my beautiful teenage daughters……. please prayer for growth and strength… God Bless!!!

  106. I’m waiting for something…… My daughter died on Dec.30 2012. I’ve been so lost and looking for direction and seem to keep going in circles and getting more lost. I know one thing..I trust God and only God. It’s the only conviction I’ve had that’s brought me this far and it’s the only thing that makes sense to me.

    • Cherie K says:

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I will keep you in my prayers. I can’t say I know the pain you feel, but I do know you must hurt. The Lord can heal that hurt and He is The One to trust. Look for God everywhere and soon you will see what He wants you to see. May God bless you and speak to your heart. Watch for Him – He is always up to something wonderful!

    • Dear Lynn, I can not imagine the broken-heartedness that you bear. Reading that you trust in God… that is clearly God’s love just pouring over you.

Dear God, please continue to bind up Lynn’s heart. Continue to convict her of your trustworthiness and thank you, LORD, that you will always show up for her! Thank you that you do not leave her in her time of need. Thank you for bringing her here, to be encouraged and prayed over. We pray that you keep wrapping her up in Your comfort and allowing her glimpses of joy in the midst of her pain. In Jesus’ Name we pray, AMEN!

  107. I’m so excited to be part of this study. Loved the video this morning. Confirmed what our pastor said two weeks ago. – he used hands wide open not clenched in a fist. I have done 3 of the OBS and really look forward to this one. I said YES to God in February and took an early retirement to be at home and it has been a battle. Praying for the next step in His plans for me with palms open. Looking forward in anticipation. Thanks OBS Team

  108. I know very little about the Bible and I’m hoping to learn a lot. Maybe they have a Learning the Bible for Dummies book (those yellow ones?) If so, I need that. So I’m taking baby steps. I have a quote by Holley Gerth on a post it note stuck on my computer monitor: “God, today I want to love you, others, and myself. Please show me how.” I’m hoping this Bible Study will help me do just that.

    • Becky, I had to giggle at the thought of a Bible for Dummies book (I LOVE those books – so helpful!). You are here! Right where God wanted you to be to dig in to His Word, learn better how to do that, and be encouraged and prayed over along the way. We are so glad that you took THIS baby step!

      • Becky each baby step we take leads us to another and then another and as we make imperfect progress each time we take another! God has brought you hear because he has heard your heart! Know that each of us are somewhere on the path taking baby steps that lead us into the wonderful mercies of God. We start in and stand with our ankles in then our knees, then our waist and so on. This is a huge baby step and I am so glad you are making them with us as we learn what God has for us! I too laughed when I thought about those yellow books. I would not have made it through my first year in college and technical stuff in 1994 with out them! God Bless and Welcome!

  109. This study has come to me at the right time. I have always believed that there are reasons for the way things happen in our lives. I am ready now to listen to those small voices that I have disregarded for years, I am ready to say Yes to God. Thank you Lord for bringing this study into my life.

  110. Linda Weems says:

so very excited to get started.I’m saying yes to God in all things!

  111. Hadassa613 says:

The title says it all–”When Women Say Yes To God” I have been reading my devotions and the word and it all has been saying the same thing. For such a time as this and I love the message from the Elevation Church it was all about me. Nothing ever happens by accident we are here for his purpose and now is the time for women to take their rightful place in the kingdom and being all about kingdom business! We must not only do but hear and do to the voice of the Lord.

  112. Patricia Dedrick says:

I am excited and hope I can keep up with the online bible study. Week one a good start love The Lord with all your heart, soul and mind. To me that means aim to please God in everything you do and say everyday not just on Sunday.

    • Today our pastor spoke on how God wants us to give Him our whole heart! We have to be willing to be totally sold out to him with our hands outstretched and raised to receive all that he has to offer. From what I have been reading we are all looking at Faith and Trust in our Sunday and need to continue you it 24/7 . I love how God always brings me exactly what I need when I need it! Still working on hearing that still small voice all the time not just on Sunday! Thank you for your post! God Bless and welcome!

  113. What is blog hop?

    • Kara (OBS Team Leader) says:

On Thursday those that have blog have a chance to write a blog post on one of the topics shown above. One Thursday’s blog post will be a button where you can link your blog post on one of those topics to this OBS blog. Then any other participant can come to the OBS blog and click on the link to your blog to read your blog post. Prepare to be blessed as we have some great writers in this community.

  114. Niccole N says:

This is my first online Bible study and I have a question..Are we answering the end-of-chapter questions on here in “comments” or are they more for independent purposes. I am excited to get started and I, too, have special pens & highlighters …office supply junkie ;D
    Thank you.

  115. Martha F. says:

Wow, reading through these comment makes me see how God is at work in all our lives and how we all face so many issues…..but sickness, deaths, finances, etc. cannot keep us from having our #palms up and Saying YES to God! To Him be the Glory!
Blessings to you all sweet OBS sisters. Have a great week!

  116. Debra M. says:

I read the first chapter last night and just watched the video now. The study has come at a great time for me. This past year has been an awakening for me, my song of the year is “Awaken my Soul” by Chris Tomlin. I feel like my soul has been awakened and feel that God is leading me but just not sure where yet. I have been pumped all day after going to church and looking forward to this study. I feel powerful things happening for all of us Yes ladies.

  117. I have to say I am so excited about this!! It’s been a year or more since I have done anything!! This is my first online study. I read the first chapter today and I loved it!! Praying for all of us to lear and grow through this study!! Thank you ladies for doing this online study for us!!

  118. I have had to wait ALL day to get my little fingers and buns on the computer, but man oh man, the video has me even more excited, which I didn’t think was possible! I’ve already highlighted and marked, circled and written notes in my book! I love the book so far, and I have already said YES before even opening this book. SCARY! But so exciting!
    Cannot wait for tomorrow! :-)

  119. Melanie F. says:

I am so excited and can’t wait to get started. I loved the first chapter and could hardly put the book down in order to dig deeper. I already feel so much smarter just researching love in the bible. Good luck everyone!

  120. I am so excited to start this online bible study :) I have never done anything like this before, so I am looking foward to what I am going to experience. God is great!

  121. This sure is exciting! I have started chapter 1 and I am looking forward to the blogs, discissions, & time in the word.

  122. Looking forward to” Growing in the Lord with all of you women of God!”, as we “SAY YES TO GOD FOR HIS BEST FOR US ALL!…”.

    Ann Akar

  123. Hi Ladies,

So awesome to read these comments! I have my journal, bible, special pens and my palms up. Let’s go!!

  124. Hi Everyone! I am excited to start this study! I have had the book for a couple of years but this is the nudging from the Lord that I need! Like some of you I am looking forward to it but a little scared as well. I am wondering if it is okay to write about one of the bloghop questions even though I don’t have a blog?? I have got to get busy reading. Busy time at my house, I am a teacher and it is back to school time for me and the kids! I am praying that this study is the rejuvenation that my soul needs!

    • I too am a teacher and know what you mean! This time of year I am usually running from this to that and getting a bit crazy. This year is a big change for me. I will be teaching Transitional Kindergarten which is the first year of a two year program in CA for students who were born between Sept 2 and Dec 2. These younger students were until this year allowed to enter Kindergarten and they are finally realizing some are not quite ready for it. My prayer is as I say yes to God I can always show my students that same love and care. This is year 15 teaching for me. I started with 4th grade and have progressed to TK. HMMM. God Bless praying for your year to be wonderful and that your OBS keeps your spirit High!

    • Kim, people sometimes do share their hearts here, in the comments section, on Thursdays if they don’t have a blog. But… I would SO encourage you to spend 10 minutes looking at a youtube video on setting up a free WordPress or Blogger blog, if you enjoy writing. It takes less than 15 minutes to set up a free site and they are very simple to do. Welcome!!!

  125. My Sisters in Christ, this is my first online Bible Study, i am excited to be a part of this wonderful Blessings. My Palms are up and by God’s Grace i will continue to Trust, Obey and say Yes to him. Let us remember all the ladies in prayer. Love in Christ

  126. I started reading Chapter One of the book a few days ago just to get a head-start. After reading about 3/4 of that chapter, I felt God tugging at my heart to reach out to an old friend who has gotten herself into a lot of trouble lately. While I was at Sam’s Club doing some shopping, I walked past the devotional books and Bibles. I picked up a devotional book and put it in my cart for my friend. Then I turned around and put it back with the mindset that I didn’t really want to rekindle that friendship and felt too uncomfortable reaching out to her. I turned around yet again and put it back in my cart, wanting to be obedient to God. Long story short, I messaged her on FB and told her I had something I wanted to give her and asked if we could have lunch. Well, we are meeting for lunch this Thursday at 12:30. Please pray that God will bless our time together, calm my nerves and make His presence known through me. I want to love her to Christ, not be judgmental or intolerant. Whew, if week one already has me stepping out of my comfort zone, no telling what the rest of the weeks will bring :)

    • Oh, it is so hard to be obedient sometimes! Just remember that you are only responsible for your actions, not your friend’s!

      Comfort zone….good-bye!

    • Lisa – That is an amazing example of saying YES! Wow!!! We will most certainly be lifting you right on up in prayer!
Dear God, thank you! We praise your Holy name for giving Lisa the courage to pick up that Devotional. We pray that you would soften the heart of her friend as she reaches out to her on Thursday. Thank you for your deep love and desire to bring all into fellowship with you. God, please grant Lisa the wisdom to know what to say and when on Thursday. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen!

    • Lisa, this is a great example of saying yes. I agree with Missy. Joining the ladies in prayer for your time with your friend. Isn’t it amazing how the Lord is already speaking to us and challenging our hearts.

  127. Darlene Omichinski says:

This is my first on line Bible study just loved the first chapter of the book,so glad it was posted as my book doesn’t arrive until August 9. I led my first Bible study this past year as my lent project as I thought it would be better add something useful to me rather than deny myself something. It was a great experience even though I felt a little scared at how things would go. This stepping out of ones comfort zone can be scary. In the month of July I also wrote and gave my first sermon in church as our pastor was on holidays and asked me to do the sermon,so far out of my comfy box I may never be able to get back there. True to Lysd words” stepping out of ones comfort zone is where we experience the true awesomeness of God”. Both of these experiences were awesome for me and I am glad when God said do I did. So looking forward to this bible study.

    • Darlene, I too felt God’s nudge to lead a Bible study this spring! I was SO uncomfortable…although I am a teacher and do many things at work and church this is not anything I had ever done or wanted to do. I cannot say I know why God wanted me to do it (and I am not running to do it again! lol) I know He had a plan. I have had a time where I felt I didn’t say Yes to God and I still lament my cowardice! Good for you for saying YES! Sounds like God has something great planned for you!

  128. I am so looking forward to what this study and God has in store for me! Just minutes before sitting down to do this study today, I felt God calling me to say “yes”. I am saying Yes to God and relying on Him 100%!

  129. Excited to get started! Our church is going through a very difficult sifting and testing time! I have felt so parched and dry in my relationship with Christ. My devotional time has become too rote and minimum, at best. I have had a longing to return to leading a Women’s Bible Study, but felt like I needed to recharge my batteries first. My prayer is that this study rekindles a longing to deepen my relationship with Christ and fellow believers.

  130. I’m curious. We are supposed to read chapter one this week. Do we also answer the questions at the end of the chapter ? So blessed to start my first online bible study!

    • Hi Pam! You can indeed answer the questions at the back of the chapter – at your liesure. But… Melissa and Nicki will be giving us thoughts to chew on and think about throughout the week that are more specific. We are glad you are here!

      • Pam from CT. says:

Thank you! That’s what i thought. s a side note, someone else mentioned to jot down the time you submitted your question/ comment to go back to find a reply. Worked great!

    • I am curious to know that question too. I have kind of gone over the questions already, but I had a little trouble.

  131. Yay ladies, I’m so excited to start this OBS with you! ALL of you! Thanks for starting us off with that video Mel, you’re just too cute, it makes me smile! Also, thank you for showing all of those pictures from everyone around the world participating. When I saw my picture amongst everyone else’s, I just, wow, I started crying! Seeing my face with all those other beautiful faces, it made me feel like I wasn’t alone in this study. Thank you, it’s meant a lot to me.

  132. Good evening everyone!

I am truly blessed and excited to be part of this journey. I have never done any form of bible studying, so to be able to be blessed with this opportunity is a dream come true. #palmsup indeed! I called unto the lord, and he answered me (Jer 33:3) I pray that this experience will not only bring us closer to our heavenly father, but also to each other. i truly hope to make new friends above all continuously say YES TO GOD!! BE BLESSED AND LET US ALL BE A BLESSING

    • Janet F (OBS Prayer Warrior Team) says:

So glad you are joining us Linda and that you said YES to God to do this study. I know you will be blessed, these online studies are awesome!!! :)

  133. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I have been facing many issues and one of them is struggling with my trust in Christ. This study comes at a perfect time in my life…or was it perfectly planned for this time in my life. My #PALMSUP, ready to receive what God wants me to say YES to. Thank you

    • Janet F (OBS Prayer Warrior Team) says:

Hey Theresa, glad you are here for this study. I pray the Lord will work in your life and heart so you will not have any doubts that you can put your trust in Christ. He loves you and brought you here, you are not here by accident, you are here because you are seeking Him. God has a plan for your life and being in this study is part of it. “Psalm 9:10 Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek You.” I am praying Psalm 9:10 for you. Theresa who knows Your name will trust in You, for You LORD, have never forsaken Theresa who seeks You!! God bless you sweet sister!! ♥

  134. #palms up and saying YES to God in Illinois. I was excited to have a customer at the store where I work today who is also doing this study!

  135. Kimberly says:

I have attempted Bible studies in the past but always let “life” get in the way. I am ready to Say Yes To God! I am a new Christian, who was a lost church member for all my life. God put an overwhelming amount of joy and enthusiam in my heart when I first heard about this study. I had just gone through a low point in my life, feeling like I was wandering with no purpose. My Sunday school teacher prayed for me and told me that she knew God has a plan for me but she doesn’t know what it is. Nobody but God knows what He has planned for my life. I am truly ready to open my heart, my sould and my life up to Him and His plan for my life. I am already being blessed by the ladies in my small group. It is an amazing feeling to be linked to other Sisters In Christ around the US. I am eager to get started on my journey and so happy to be here with so many others that are ready to Say YES!

    • All I can say is Thank you God for bringing Kimberly to our group of sisters in Christ! Yes it is a truly amazing feeling to be linked to real world ladies who are Christians! Welcome to the adventure!

    • Kimberly, it is an awesome thing when God plunks us down in the midst of fellowship with other people who can help us along and pray for us. We are thrilled that you are here. This is going to be one exciting adventure as we all listen closely to what God has for us!

  136. Jeanie Benson says:

I’m so excited. I have said “YES TO GOD” and I have my palms up. This is going to be a great study,

    Thank you!

  137. Danielle says:

I can’t wait for this study and my palms are up. My prayer Lord is that this study will change each woman who are participants, that we all will walk way saying yes. And because of our obedience to say yes that it would start a fire of the people we come into contact with. I pray that the fire would spread because of our obedience to say yes and that it would be like Jeremiah 20:9. I want this study for myself and the participants to be like Elijah said to be like a fire shut up in our bones. Cant wait to see God pour himself out to us for begging obedient to saying yes. Be encourage and I love you sister in Christ.

  138. Read chapter 1, Wow!

  139. I have been waiting for this to start. So excited!!

  140. This is my first online bible study and I just read about it this past week. I am anxious to see what God has in store, yet nervous at the same time. Love reading the comments and am reassured this is definitely something God wants me to do.

  141. Nicole Fellows says:

feeling very yucky today….still wanting to be here though…..Lord Help!

    • Lord I lift my sister Nicole up to you! I ask that you wrap her in your love and help her to feel better!Bring her a feeling of love and amazement as she is prayed over, encouraged and loved by an awesome sisterhood! I ask that you provide encouragement and show yourself to her in each step she takes! Satan I am standing on the solid rock of Christ and telling you emphatically that you are going to lose! Amen

    • Praying for you right now, Nicole! Hugs!

    • Kim Bridges says:

Oh no! So hope you feel better soon! I’m getting a late start here. I will keep you in my prayers, I know how hard it is to be attentive when we don’t feel well. So glad that you are still participating. It reminded me of the offering described in chapter 1.
      Love, Kim

    • Oh, Nicole, we can all so relate to those yucka days. I’m so glad you’re hanging in there (here).

Oh God, take Nicole and wrap her up in your comfort. We pray a sense of peace will just flood her being so that she is content to be still and listen for you, God. Thank you for loving her and knowing the very number of hairs on her head! In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen!

  142. This is my first Online Bible Study! Excited and nervous but anticipating that God will show Himself to all of us “Yes Girls”! #PalmsUp

  143. Is the Interactive Workbook used with this OBS?

  144. So excited and ready to say “yes!” #palmsup More of you, Lord, less of us!

  145. So, do I have to have a website to post something on my heart in answer to one of the areas like palms up? And if so, HOW do I do this blog thing? Technically illiterate~

  146. Cynthia Palmer says:

This is going to be so cool! :)

  147. Suzanne A says:

I have been in a really funky place lately and was looking for a new bible study to try to help get back in a good place when I found this one. Here is to putting my #palmsup and saying Yes to God once again.

  148. I have had a rough past two years with circumstances so out of my control (when did I honestly have any?!), but GOD! He has touched my soul so many times in my brokenness, He has confirmed His presence and I am grateful. I have been blessed – and know it! The song “Sweetly Broken” by Jeremy Riddle sums up so much for me.
I am excited to move beyond my brokenness and move into God’s best for me. Thank you for this OBS, I am excited and humbled. Blessings to all the ladies from around the world, I am praying for an great outpouring of His love in our lives that extends beyond our very being, seeds planted! God Bless!

  149. I’m so excited to get started! I’m saying yes to God with palms up, ready to receive whatever He gives! God bless us all!

  150. Kim Bridges says:

I’m sooo excited about getting started!! I’ve even got my almost 19 year old to participate and my mom too! I’ve got alot of irons in the fire right now & know by giving of one of my prize possessions (my time) I can nurture that deeper relationship I so long to have with Him. Thank you so much for doing this online study!
    Blessings, Kim

  151. This morning in worship, we sang the song “Let It Rise” which culminates with a powerful chorus that repeats, “Yes, Lord!” over and over. What a gloriously perfect way to start this phase in my life of saying YES to God. Terrified, excited, curious and so very ready to see what God has planned for me. Yes, yes, Lord. Amen!

  152. Kelly Hansen says:

I’m also really excited to get started! I’ve felt like I’ve lost my way some time ago and now I feel this is just what I need. I to have my journal, bible and special pen. I’m saying YES to God. Thank you for doing this OBS.

  153. I am so excited to start this study. This is my first OBS. Just as I’ve read from a few others, I too have my Bible, special journal, and a special pen :) I can’t wait to get deeper into this study and deeper into God’s word…my relationship with Him seems likes it’s been on the back burner lately and I am absolutely ready to restore it!! Palms up and ready to “Say YES to GOD”!

    • You will have so much fun! I did the last study and everyone is so encouraging. I am glad that you are with us. Just like you I have my palms up and I am ready to say Yes to God!

  154. Lisa Richardson says:

I read chapter one and I am so excited about what God is going to do in my life.. I want to be radically obedient to Him. I have been praying over my “busyness” and how to get things straight and put God first everyday!!! This Bible study is going to be awesome!!! so excited

    • Amen Lisa! Yes, we need to put God first everyday and I too believe that this study is going to be awesome as it directs us to put him first. And wasn’t chapter one amazing! I’m excited to see how the Lord teaches each of us to be radically obedient!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Isn’t it exciting to see what God has done or will do in our lives if we are obedient to Him?! I will be praying for you and that you can give God the time that you desire to give Him. Keep on saying YES to God!!

  155. tinabacon says:

I am so excited to start this challenge!!!! Lysa you have always been a true example of someone who adores our Papa!!!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

We are excited that you are part of this OBS community and that you are wanting to “Say YES to God”!! Lysa is a beautiful example to all of us and her love for our Daddy!! How amazing is it that we can take her example, apply it to our own lives, and be that example to others to show them the love of Jesus!!

  156. Cassandra says:

Excited to be a part of my 1st OBS. A friend told me a few months ago that God wants me to spend more time worshipping Him. I was confused because I thought I had been; I thought that attending church, reading my devotions every morning, etc was “worshipping God.” I realized yesterday as I was reading What Happens When You Walk in Faith that THIS was what God was talking about – I needed to spend with God by worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Super excited to continue this journey of worship with the Say Yes to God OBS #palmsup

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Welcome Cassandra!! We are excited that you are here and that you’ve committed to saying YES to God! As you “Say YES to God”, I pray that you know your Father more intimately and fully and that He will make Himself known to you!!

  157. Yes! I am so excited to get started on this Study! I am saying yes to God.

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

We’re excited that you are starting this study with us as well!! What’s better than saying YES to our God? NOTHING!! :)

  158. This is my very first P31 OBS, I’m so excited and blessed to be here. I’m going through a whirlwind of experiences at this time and a lot of things are changing in my life. First son going off to School of Ministry and then University, moving home and it’s just so easy to say Lord, give me some space, can’t handle anymore right now. But then, I remember grace and know that through Christ I can do all things and open palms, and saying ‘yes’ become my life goal. I don’t want to miss out on any adventure with Him, and so with y’all I’m saying ‘Yes’ Lord, to Your will and to Your way, take me higher, take me deeper!

    • Bosede, welcome to your first study with OBS. This is a great place to be, and yes, you will definitely be blessed. Praying for you and for your son as you all transition into new places in life. Now is a great time for your palms to be up to receive what the Lord has new for you. Blessed to be joining you and so many other wonderful women who are saying yes to God.

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

We are blessed that you are a part of this study!! Life gets hectic and hard sometimes, but knowing that we can give it to our God and that He will get us through, makes it that much easier. I love your willingness and desire to say YES to our Lord and to make that your life goal. There is beauty in saying YES to Him!! Don’t miss out on an adventure of a lifetime…say YES to God!!

  159. Melissa and Nicki…thank you so much for getting us started and encouraging us to get our palms up to receive what the Lord has for us. This is my second time reading this book, but already, just one chapter in, I am so excited to see how the Lord is going to challenge me once again. And moving through this study with each of the amazing women here is going to be life changing. I am ready to say yes to God and experience the divine appointments he has set aside for me. Here goes…

    • We are so so happy you are here with us – to grow, pray, and learn to be obedient when we feel God’s nudges in our lives! He definitely has some define appointments for us, I’m sure!!!! Can’t wait!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Welcome!! How wonderful that you have already read this amazing book. I can’t wait to see how God makes Himself known to you and what He teaches you this time through. I find it amazing and wonderful how we can read something more than once and can get something different out of it each time! Lift your palms up, say YES to God, and see what that Lord wants to give you!!

  160. Laura Shapiro says:

Hmm, I dont think I have gravatar working right, but am delighted to be here and to get going! A shout out to my fellow diabetics, fibro sisters and self employed or work from home friends who are praying God keeps us on track and through the course!

    • Laura Shapiro says:

      Hey, it worked!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

We are super excited that you are here and for you to experience what happens when you say YES to God!! Life can get busy, but our prayers will be that God helps you find the time to stay on track. But if anything, keep on, and be open to our Lord and what He wants to reveal to you.

      • Laura Shapiro says:

So, what happens? The internet was down here I guess in our city, for the entire day. So I am just getting back on, and plan to catch up tomorrow. Cant wait to read soms of entries.

    • Debi Schuhow says:

Hey I have fibromyalgia too! Talk about learning to live within my limitations! From someone who never asked anyone for help with anything (except my husband). :)

      • Laura Shapiro says:

HI Debi, I tried six times to reply to you. For some reason I am getting some sort of script error on this page. Anyway, nice to meet you. I know having fibro really does mean learning to delegate. I’m self employed and I think I need to delegate stuff to myself to do, or not to do! Looking forward to finally getting into this study, since I have finally got the internet back up and running. Blessings to you!

  161. Joanna P. says:

    Hi Everyone,
This is my first time doing a bible study and diving into the Word of God. I’ve felt the nudge to really get into the word lately and this bible study came at the perfect time. Can’t wait to see God work through everyone through this bible study!

    • Joanna, it’s going to be GREAT! Powerful! He’s already at work and it’s amazing!!! I’m so excited that you are feeling the nudge to get into the Word! Me too! So excited that we get to do this together!!!! We’ll do some really cool things during the study with God’s Word – verse mapping and personalizing verses and other things that will allow us to really DIG DEEP into it! Praying this study blesses you in big ways!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

So excited to have you here and to be a part of this OBS for your first one. It is going to be AMAZING!! I love those nudges from God. But what is really beautiful is that you said yes to His nudge! I can’t wait to see how God works in you through this OBS, and how He blesses you!!

  162. OBS sisters Hello! I have 2 urgent prayer requests. Jeannie a lady from our church left church this morning and went to the doctor and has been admitted for extremely high blood pressure. They are keeping her at least a day or two. Sonya who is like a sister is in Urgent Care being treated for heart issues. She recently spent several days in the hospital due to blood clots and they are also looking for more clots in her body. Please hold these two wonderful christian ladies up! Thank You Elaine

    • Barbara Williams says:

Prayers going up for both Jeannie and Sonya!!!! This is so very close to my heart because I have, on 3 separate occasions, been hospitalized for all three conditions (extremely high blood pressure – had to be put on a 3rd med for it), heart (upon visit to my doc for chest pains an EKG was performed and my doc called ambulance sending me to the hospital because she didn’t like the results of it and they thought I could’ve had a heart attack – THANK GOD IT WASN’T and in April 2010 I was admitted to hospital with blood clot in my lungs which resulted in my being terminated from my job because my employer said I missed too many days and placed on blood thinner meds for the rest of my life. I am sharing this because I want to encourage you to support them with a journey of health awareness and living the healthiest lifestyle for these conditions. Other than this being time to say yes to God, it’s most definitely a time for looking at physical health as so much toxins pollute our bodies by self, others and things. I am going all out by joining my OBS sisters in saying yes to God in all areas of my life including my health (starting a 2 week detox with just fruits, vegetables and water – exercising and fasting). Blessings to Jeannie, Sonya and their families and you for interceding.

      • Thanks for the encouraging words Barbara! My husband has been through all of the above as well. He has been on blood thinners for several years. He has had 2 strokes and a blood clot that a portion wound up in his lungs. He also has Alzheimer’s.. I know what it means to do the best you can to protect your health. When this all started with Sonya I took her to have ultra sound and while we were talking to the doctor he offered me a job in their Coumadin Clinic because I seem to know a lot about it. Thanks for the prayers, Sonya is home and off work till at least Thursday. Jeannie is still in the hospital so please continue to pray for them. I am also going to ask for prayer for my husband. He has been having depression issues and it has been a tough few weeks for him. Thank you and God Bless!

    • Praying over these needs! In God’s name, Amen!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Thank you Elaine for sharing you requests and knowing that you have sisters in Christ who are more than willing to go to God in prayer for you. Praying!!

  163. BTW thanks for the Gavatar info! Pretty neat!

    • Amy! It is awesome to see God working right here with all of you!!!! So Happy you said YES! God is so good and here we get to grow together in Him and isn’t that just what it’s all about!!!! Worshipping together and praying together – growing together in Him! For us, it’s about saying YES to a calling – about Being right where God wants us – growing with you all! listen for his whispers, because I believe He is going to do amazing things in this study just for you! Be ready to say Yes when He calls you to take that Leap of Faith, or step out of that Comfort Zone – This is going to be a Powerful Study! He is going to show out for sure!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Whew…disaster deflected ;) How exciting to hear how much you are loving this book already. It will only get better! What a beautiful picture painted in having our palms up, ready to receive the Lord and what He wants to make known to you. Growing in God, getting to know Him better and more fully is nothing short of amazing. I pray that you experience Him in such a way that it will change you forever. Enjoy this study, enjoy our Lord!!

  165. I’m a mom of three young kids, two that are 365 days apart and about to celebrate their first and second birthdays. I have been so overwhelmed and have tried so hard to get involved in a bible study & it never works out. It’s been two years. I have felt so discouraged because the local studies fall during someone’s nap time, or at bath and bed time. I receive the daily devotionals and God shouted out “JOIN!! JOIN!!”. I listened immediately! Laying in bed at midnight, reading on my phone, I obeyed. Thank you so much for this study & these women Lord! I can’t wait to see what’s in store!

    • Hannah !!!! Yay! Thank for you saying YES and joining us here as we study together, worship together, pray together, and learn to be obedient together – to build our relationships with Jesus. This is perfect because you can do this in your time! You’ve said Yes! He’s going to do amazing things here in this study! Praying over you this morning. I pray that you will begin to feel rest and not so overwhelmed – that you feel God’s presence in your every day life and know He is there to bring you rest if you will reach out to Him. Don’t be afraid to say “God, I’m overwhelmed, I’m tired ~ I need you!” – He is there and wants you to reach out to Him all day long when you are in need or feel like you want to just throw up our hands! Next time you feel frazzled – remember #PalmsUp!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

OBS will be such a blessing for you. You can be a part of a bible study, but still be home where you need to be, taking care of those precious children. The flexibility is just what you need! The best thing is that you can be a part of an amazing community of sister in Christ who will be there for you uplifting and encouraging you through it. To hear that still small voice of Jesus and to obey it is beautiful!! God has so much in store for you through this study. Continue to be still, listen for His voice, and bathe in Him!!

  166. Barbara Williams says:

I joined the Confident Woman OBS but didn’t fully participate and truly feel I missed something wonderful. This time around is so perfect for me because I was allowed to hit rock bottom (my van died on me, lost my job due to being out for health reasons many times, lost the nicest home I was renting with the most godly landlords because of finances and saying yes to everyone but God which included a man who says he loves me but after 13 years and him about to turn 56 years old but still insists on living a very unhealthy, destructive lifestyle and never wanted to commit to marriage, my 4 adult children who I keep allowing to place guilt on me for living a destructive lifestyle most of their lives and keep trying to make up for it, and many others who I helped and got slapped in my face afterwards, leaving myself unattended and needing help but no one can even give me a dime. I fully surrender and am SAYING YES TO GOD with all my heart, mind, body and soul. Thank you ladies for this study – I am in desperate need of obedience to God and this will be the best year for me in along time.
    Barbara Williams

    • Barbara – You have taken the 1st step. You will get out of this awesome study what you put in. And here at OBS we have a dedicated group of Jesus girls that pray over YOU. by name. specifically for those things that are burdening your soul. You cannot get a re-do on the past but you can make your future amazing by building the most incredible relationship with our Heavenly Father! You’ve already Surrendered and Said YES. that’s HUGE! Eventually your family will see God shine in your life and they too will want that glow that you will have about you…..God will pull it altogether nicely – in His perfect timing. I knew God all my life but only in the last 5 years have I established a relationship with Him and started to be obedient to Him in all things. Make sure you take time each day to open your bible and read His word. Pray. and then listen. Listen quietly as He speaks to you – you will feel the nudges!! Obedience is the hardest part about being a Jesus girl. I KNOW this will be the best year ever for you ~ Grow with us! Hugs

      • Barbara Williams says:

Kelley – thank you so much for the encouragement and transparency of yourself – this means a lot. Thanks a bunch for the hugs. I forgot to ask for prayer in my post and really need it specifically for a job that God has for me that will help me to get back on my feet. I’m currently staying with my best friend but we have kind of been at odds and it isn’t good for us to live together. I have no income and need to be in an environment where I can truly focus and not have the drama and feel as though I’m in the way. Thank you so much! Blessings to you.

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Barbara…God desire for us is to say YES to Him!! What a blessing it is to have you part of this study. Life is hard, confusing, and can hurt sometimes, and boy do I know this. But when we say yes to God and are grounded in Him, our circumstances may not change, but our heart and perspective surely does. Surrendering yourself to Him will not come back void, He will do great things in you and through you if you allow Him to. Surrender and submit yourself completely to Him. Let Him work in you throughout this book. Keep your eyes focused on Him and dig into the word to get to fully know Him and His desires for your life. You are beautiful. You are desirable. You are loved. You are everything to Him!!

      • Barbara Williams says:

Amy – thank you – I’m truly working hard at this and know that my submission is what God is waiting for. Having all of you ladies (OBS Blog Team and OBS sisters all over the world) is such an uplifting, stomping on Satan’s head together and giving all to God. I am going to focus on my beauty and everything that I am to God. Blessings to you.

  167. So excited for this study! There are currently areas in my life where I feel God leading me to do some things that are not easy. Looking forward to learning more on how to hear His voice and if this is something He is asking me to say Yes to. Thank you for doing this. Praying that God does amazing things through the lives of so many who are doing this study!

    • Sweet Kim! If we are not being taken out of our comfort zone, we are not growing in Him. Keep reading sister. I read through chapter 4 yesterday and Lysa will give you some awesome ways to hear His voice and discern what is His will versus what is yours! Praying for you! My personal prayer for myself is “God, mold me and make me. May Your will be my Will – in all things. May everything I do or say today bring nothing but glory to you” – I pray this over you today! HUGS

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

I know exactly where you are coming from!! Feeling God’s leading can be both scary and exciting at the same time. Knowing that He is leading you in a certain direction, but not exactly sure of what it is can be scary. Dealing with this myself right now. But hearing you say that you’re willing to go where God calls you, even if it’s not easy or comfortable, is awesome. I love how you are wanting to do His will, to hear that still small voice, and to make sure that it is what He is asking of you! Keep praying that this be God’s will, not your own. That He would open doors that need to be open, and close doors that He doesn’t want you to go through. Keep desiring to do God’s will. He knows and sees your heart. How beauitful is that?!!!

  168. Ok Ladies!!!
I am in need of prayer! I feel that God is going to do ALOT this week and it seems I can’t get with it. I am battling doubts in my head, stress, and it is really making it hard for me to feel Gods presence. I have been super excited about this AWESOME bible study, my church has VBS this week, I am getting things organized for me to start a new job in the next couple of weeks, and my finances are STRESSING me out! On top of all of that, my goal was to start my college courses this month and I can’t seem to get those things in order. It’s a lot for me to bear and it seems to distract me during my bible study and quiet time. Please help pray for me to be solid in Christ and that Christ light will shine through me this week and through this transition in my life. Thanks in advance.

    • Randi, we have an incredible prayer team and we will be praying for you – by name! specifically for these things you brought up here! I pray right now that your quiet time – your Jesus time becomes quiet and still – that the fury in your mind will let up so that you can focus and spend some special time with Jesus, experiencing His word for your life. I pray that He will show you peace this week – that you will begin to see His light shine over you and in all things in your life. B E L I E V E! Know and Believe that He is in Control – stop worrying and let Him work in your life. What is meant to happen will come together in His perfect plan and His perfect timing! HUGS for you!!! Looking forward to hearing how God has worked as we continue the study!!!!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Oh Randi, how the devil likes to stir up things to pull us away from God. And he uses what he can :( Know that you are surrounded by such amazing women who love Christ and will pray for you specifically!! God is with you always. Take time each morning right away to be filled with Him so that nothing else can take His place. And know that we will be praying that during your quiet time, you will be able to be still and to see what God is showing you. That there will be no distractions for you. God is in complete control so give it all over to Him. When things are getting hard and thoughts are creeping up. take time to just stop and pray and lay it at the feet of Jesus!!

      • Thank you so much. It puts my heart at ease when I know there are other people across the world praying for me. I know I can rest assure knowing God is Almighty and powerful and can over come these rough patches in my life. Thank you so much for reminding me that He is always there, even when I feel so so far away!

  169. Amazing to hear “Palms up ladies”. I heard this in church yesterday from our pastor as he had us do an activity during the service. Today, my palms will be up as I say yes to an amazing God. I’ already up, ready to obey and receive all that he has to offer me today as I go about my day. “I will love the Lord with all my heart, soul and strength”. Whenever I have said yes to God in the past I have been blown away! Let the day begin!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Don’t you love how when God is trying to get you to hear or realize something, you see or hear it again, and again? Palms up Jammie :) Be ready to take in what God wants to give you!! Excited that said YES to God!!

  170. Christine says:

No more living life looking through the rear view mirror – I am looking forward to all God has planned for me. Let the adventure begin! I am a YES girl!

  171. This is my first OBS and I am sooooo excited. I lost my mother unexpectedly earlier in the year and have experienced a lot stress since then. I know the Lord wants to use me in a mighty way, and I’m ready to say YES and move forward! What an exciting time in my life!

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

So excited to have you part of this OBS…welcome!! As life gets hard, remember to go to God in pray and know that you will be covered in prayer. The Lord does want to use you, and saying YES to Him is a perfect way to start. Keep saying YES to Him and watch Him work in ways that we can’t even comprehend!!

  173. Jennifer McReynolds says:

I just want to know how to be a part of a FB group. They all look closed and I would really like to be in a group somehow. I live in Louisville, KY

  174. I am saying Yes to God knowing that there does not have to be a perfect time or for my situation to be perfect to do this. If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done!” (Ecclesiastes 11:4). I am very excited about this OBS! #palmsup

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Glad that you said Yes to God and that you’re going to be a part of this OBS!! What insight in that we can’t wait for things to be perfect to start. God can use us right where we are. That’s the beauty of our God!!

  175. Hi ladies this is my first OBS and so glad to be here to not only meet others who are trying to draw near to our Savior but that I can do that as well. I need a lot of prayers right now. I feel so alone and so far from God like never before. I’m full of bitterness because of how others have done me and it has taken root in my life and it shows in other areas of my life. I’ve tried helping others, and it just seems like my family and I are the ones who suffers. I’m hoping this bible study helps me, because I have became a NO girl in all area’s of my life.

    • Amy Wall(OBS Blog Team) says:

Welcome, welcome, welcome!! We’re glad that you are going to be a part of saying YES to God! This is an amazing community to be a part of. Amazing women to get to know, and a way to draw closer to your Lord and to know Him in an intimate way. I too have struggled with bitterness. I know how it shows in other areas of you life and how it can destroy. But I also know the power of fully surrendering it over to God. What a freeing feeling and a breath of fresh air. Praying that you will be able to lay your bitterness at God’s feet and let Him take it from you. Thank you for being a YES girl…God will bless you because of it and I can’t wait for you to experience it!!

  176. Amanda A.Gordon says:

This is my first online Bible Study, and this is definitely an exciting way to have a study. When I think of the theme, I keep thinking of obedience and trusting God’s sovereignty.

  177. I’ve browsed Proverbs31 online study courses in the past and I’ve signed up for a couple, but I’ve never made it past the first few pages. This time around I not only felt compelled to sign up, I even went shopping for supplies including a beautiful journal. I was up early yesterday to read the email, then I went off to church and work. By the time I arrived home it was late. Normally I would’ve put off the reading thinking I’ll get to it—the same thing I’ve done for the last class or two I signed up for. But not last night. I stayed up reading and praying. On an urge I signed up for real life conversations. For me, I’ve never known whether it is my own ego or if I hear God. I’m hoping that I can find my way through this course and find a better connection with God.

  178. Mavis Tipton says:

Thank you for putting this OBS together. I look forward to studying with you. Have a blessed day.

  179. Letitia King says:

I’m really excited that this study has started. Chapter 1 spoke to me about sacrifice and obedience. It caused me to reflect on what loving God with ALL my heart – soul – strength looks like. Give away my Bible – REALLY??? Yes – if that’s what He asks me to do. How many ways and times have I said no? I’m not going to feel guilty – and I am GOOD at feeling guilty. Through His endless mercy and grace, I can seek forgiveness and move ahead – saying yes. Blessings to all~

  180. Karri (obs leader/blog team) says:

After reading all the post this morning, I am overwhelmed at God’s love and the abundance of blessings. God placed each of us here for a reason and I am so thankful for this ministry. I love doing real life with real people!
While reading chapter one, there were a few sentences that completely grabbed me..” Women who say Yes to God will see life like few others. They are drawn in and embraced by a love like no other. They don’t have to wait until the next time they’re in church to experience God because they sense God’s presence all around them, all through their day” (pg 14) This grabbed me because that’s exactly what this ministry is to me, seeing God work in everyone’s lives as well as my own is so very humbling. Thank you gals for opening up and sharing your love for Christ!

  181. This is my first OBS. I was so excited to get started counting down the days till August 4th. Friday when I still had not received my book I was a little down. Today, I saw the link to Chapter One. Thank you so much for posting. You made my day. I’m so Excited to get started NOW!!

  182. Laurie Messer says:

I am so excited to begin this study! I had a wonderful time of study today. I recently started a blog and really want to get into blogging more. I’m excited about the blog hop and stretching of myself to post my private thoughts for everyone to see…kind of scary!!!

    Palms Up,

  183. Robyn Hooper says:

Just confirming that I am signed up for the calls, I signed up Saturday 8/3/13 for Real Life Heart to Heart Connections but have not gotten the email yet today in regards to the call in and download information that will be emailed.

  184. Donna Mills says:

YES, YES, YES GOD!!! “Palms High Up” :) I am sooo…… excited to be a part of the great opportunity of studying the Word of God with you ladies. I’m ready, willing and able to say “Yes” to your will and “Yes” to your way Lord! Bless the woman of God as we partake in this wonderful journey as we say “Yes” to you God and bless us richly! Praises to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!!
    Love, Donna

  185. Veronica says:

WOW! What a joy to do this first day of the Bible study. My daughter told me about this and I joined. I passed the info on to my other daughter and she is also joining in. You can add 3 more “YES GIRLS!” My heart is so excited about what I have already experienced this first day…my goodness, I am praying my heart can hold all that I will be receiving throughout this entire Bible study. I feel so blessed. Thank you so much for this opportunity to go deeper in my relationship with our Precious Savior by being His “yes girl!” Looking forward to continuing!

Palms Up! I’m ready to receive more.

  186. Long story short, I went to a prayer meeting in Maryland this past Friday night with my mother. The Pastor walked right over to me and said God was waiting for me to say yes….then today, I came across this Bible Study…but God.

I am going out today to see if I can find the book so I do not fall too far behind…thank you God for grace and mercy…#excited

  187. I am so looking forward to this OBS. I have been a Christian all my life, but my Husband died very Suddenly last Christmas and my world fell apart. We were married 39 years and I had no idea what to do with myself so I read more christian books and study books and delved into my Bible so I would not lose the closeness and faith I have always had in Jesus. Believe me He is there during the tragedies and I know this study is going to help give me strength to learn how to say yes now that I am alone and I have to get over not being afraid alone!! Thank-you!!

  188. Linda Clark says:

Hi….I’ve read Chapter 1 and so excited about the study. However, I did not get an email with call in and download instructions for the Real Life Connection Calls.. I was unavailable to listen at the live time today, but did want to download it. Thank You!

  189. Hi,
I have been looking forward to this study for awhile now. My boyfriend from out of town just left this morning to go back to school out of state after spending a whole month here with me. It’s a hard day and I am missing him terribly, but even in saying “Yes” to God, this applies. God has been calling me to obedience from the beginning of this relationship and obedience and blind faith is playing a huge part of my future too. I’m looking forward to what I’ll be learning through this study.

  190. Lynn Graham says:

that was a good chapter one. it was exciting to read that she gave up her only precious Bible to the passenger sitting next to her and also helping out that lady. that’s totally awesome. this is really going to be a good study.

  191. I’am so excited to do this online Bible study, my first time ever.So i’am having my palms up & saying Yes to the Lord palms up.Yehe can’t wait to see what God has in store for all us ladies.God Bless,Rosie

  192. How do I know if I’m ready to say Yes to God? I’m feeling so broken that I don’t even know how to begin to say Yes, or even hear His voice. What happens if I start this, and then can’t finish it? Will God be disappointed in me? Will He be mad? I ‘hear’ all of the excitement in everyone’s posts. I so wish I could feel that. I’m just so torn and confused. I’m sorry for whining :(

    • Heather,
There is a reason you have joined this study. You are not alone dear heart. Confusion is the devil’s way to distract us from what God wants. God is our strength when we have none of our own and he puts together what is broken. Saying “Yes” starts with the simple act of obedience. Saying “Yes” doesn’t happen once, but happens every second as we move into God’s will. I will be praying that you will walk in confidence during this bible study…that you will not give up. That you will let God move you closer to Him during this time. You are not alone… are His masterpiece. He made you, and He loves you.

  193. Erika Fury says:

I love how at the end of chapter 1 Lysa said we should “walk in the center of Gods will every moment” Oh what a wonderful way to live and something I am going to work on daily!!! I also liked the statement that said…Don’t stumble over fearing you won’t be perfect or that you are sure to mess up. Saying yes to God isn’t about perfect performance but perfect surrender! Oh my!!!!! I have let Satan use my fear to hold me back so many times!!!

  194. Excited to blog, new to me!

  195. Linda Clark says:

I LOVE Bible Study with other ladies, so I really want to do the interactive part. But,I’ve spend 30 minutes searching the comments to see if my earlier comment has a response. Now my time is exhausted. The idea seems good, but so far, I’ve spent all my time searching. I did sign up for the Real Life Connection Calls…..but did NOT get an email telling me how to use and download????? Still wondering???? I did read chapter 1 and know it’s going to be a good study…but I didn’t want to pay for something and then not be able to use it.

  196. Should we read all of chapter one throughout the week on on the first day?

  197. My heart is excited as I sit and read the words that have been placed before me. It is God calling me, inviting me to join Him. To be fearless, and to move in His will. To step out of my comfort zone. I have Lysa Terkerst’s book “Made to Crave”…I wanted so desperately to be able to use that book to focus on food issues, but it was not enough. I could hear God whisper in my ear that I was not ready because I didn’t trust Him. I needed to be able to let go, and let Him have control over every aspect of my life…i don’t just have a food issue, i have a heart issue. I want to say “YES” in my mind, but my heart doesn’t know how. Then I saw this bible study show up on facebook, and my heart leaped in my chest. Is this where I need to go? The focus of this bible study is to say “Yes” to God…the first memory verse has to do with loving God with all your heart. I have a heart issue that only God can fix so I am saying “Yes” to God, and “Yes” to this bible study. Ladies…I look forward to sharing this experience with you all. May God bless and Keep you as we strive to say “Yes” at all times to our heavenly Father!

  198. Just thought I’d share the results of my study of Deut. 6:5. After looking up the components of the verse in Strong’s concordance, the verse took on even more depth and meaning.

My “re-translation” of it would be something like: “Long for Jehovah, the one true God, your ruler and your judge. Desire Him with your whole mind, the totality of your emotions and passions, and with all your might and abundance.”

I love going back to the Hebrew/Greek to better understand scripture, and I thought this result was interesting enough to share.

  199. I don’t know why I’m here…but I’m willing to be here. Hesitant, resistant, yet plugging into all you have to offer here with the study. With eyes squinted shut, my palms are up and open. Thank you for this opportunity!

    • It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one that’s hesitant, yet willing. You put yourself out there and you were honest. That’s awesome!

  201. Hi, I am super excited about this study. Our church did this study and I was unable to attend. As soon as I signed up I started to feel different, noticing a little tug here and there, or feeling a nudge that helps me deal with stress and worry more easily in the moment. I am excited to see what God is doing.

  202. I am not getting any emails so I am concerned that I am missing something. I checked my spam, and there is nothing there…help please!

  203. Lois Pepple says:

Wow! This already feels like a community! So happy to be here. Just finished reading the first chapter and it hit me where I live. I have only in the past month or so realized how little I know God’s heart; I think I’ve been questioning how to seek it. Lysa certainly addresses some ways to find it. I think I am going to learn much, and be well ready to see and hear from God, and then be well equipped to do what He asks me to do. My palms are up (ok, they’re not while I’m typing) as I say Yes, God.
I want to learn more about blog hopping. Sounds fun and interesting. I do not yet have a blog, but have felt some nudging to get going in that direction.I love to read the blogs of others who offer encouragement and hope in the Christian walk. One thing I believe God wants from me is to write. He’s been telling me that for awhile now. Haven’t quite known how to get started blogging, but I have been writing a bit.
I live in Phoenix, where I now just try to keep from melting during this heat. I live with my husband of 32 years. Have a son, who has recently found his way back to the Lord (Hallelujah!), and a married daughter. She has a 3 year old son and is pregnant with their second son. My grandson brings me so much joy. Looking forward to the next one; and to this study.

  204. Deborah Ajayi says:

Thanks for this. This is my first OBS and many times I’ve wanted to say yes to God especially my quiet time but failed. My palms are up and open to receive what He has for me. Though not that excited as you girls all the same I say yes Lord yes to your will and to your ways – singing .

  205. For me, loving God with all my heart, all my soul and all my strength is an act of letting go. To love him with that kind of intensity means I must put away my notion of what it should look and feel like. The simple truth is that I must surrender all I have to follow him with the blind passion. The joy of doing that is immeasurable. It is difficult to remember to get out of God’s way, but the more I practice it, the easier it is to learn to do just that.

  206. Hello amazing women,

I’ve just joined Yes to God OBS and it’s my first time all the way from Tanzania:-)

My concern is that I don’t have the book/kindle and won’t be getting anytime soon, will I still be able to follow through without it? Or what is the alternative?

  207. Hi OBS women, It is a pleasure to join from Florida. I am new to Bible Study online and just received my book last night So I am here trying to familiar myself with how things work. I do not want to miss out on anything God has to offer me. I want to say yes to God and serve Him unhindered yet so much is going on around me…. I’m here.

  208. I am so thankful for this OBS. I have not attended a local church for many years. I study the Bible on my own, but have missed learning from a study leader and group participants. Thank you all for being a part of this study group.

  209. I almost missed a yes to God moment, but because of our study, I didn’t! I went to the post office on my lunch break and an elderly man was playing his guitar outside. I stuffed some loose bills in my pocket to give him but didn’t see an open guitar case or anywhere to place the $ so walked on by. Leaving in the car I still had that nudging. My next stop was fast food, so I bought two meals and retraced my steps back to the post office to give him a meal (& some $ in the bag). Maybe by the end of the study I will be brave enough to actually sit down and break bread with him, or someone else, instead of “dropping off” the meal. Thanks, ladies.

Good Morning :) Major revelation!!! While my soul yearns to be closer and my heart desires God, the strength that HE GAVE ME gets me in trouble. Lord thank you for the revelation that I am NOT an octopus and that you have that role covered!!! Seeking to love the Lord with my strength by saying “Yes God” to what He says is a priority in my life, HIM!!!

  212. Still trying to get the hang of this. Got my book. Read 1 chapter

  213. Hi ladies,
I’m super excited to be a part of something so amazing. I love God and I love bible study. I want to say yes to God. I am going to say yes to Him. God is telling me to quit smoking. (along with everyone else ;) ) My wonderful amazing hubby even quit for me. I have a 2 year old gorgeous baby boy to think about as well. I just know that with quitting smoking I am going to need Faith and Support. I am reaching out and I hope you will all pray for me. I know it is a disgusting nasty habit and I hate that I do it. I just wish it wasn’t so addictive. I know God see’s it as a sin and that is why I want to quit. I found God the beginning of this year. I am 27 years old. I have attended church before, never had a bible. But the beginning of this year I really found Jesus as my Savior, followed up with believer’s baptism. I attend church on a regular basis. I just need to STOP SMOKING. So I’m reaching out to you yes gals to see if you can help. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Looking forward to speaking with you. Feel free to email me.
