Author of Made to Crave, Lysa TerKeurst

Happy Friday everyone!

I just had to share this with all of my MTC friends. You will find this so encouraging. It’s from Lysa TerKeurst’s personal blog today.

Real quick, if you don’t know Lysa, she’s the real deal. I know this because she is a personal friend of mine and I work with her every day. She’s been where we are and she still struggles and readily admits it. She has a beautiful family, but it is her love for God that shines the brightest.

In her blog post today, she addresses when victory seems so far away. I don’t know about you, but needing to lose 45 pounds is light years away from today in my mind. In fact sometimes I already feel defeated without even starting.

Maybe it’s food you struggle with, or maybe it’s something else. Whatever it is, check this post out from Lysa TerKeurst and be encouraged!

And why you are there, leave her a sweet comment about how you have signed up for the MTC OBS. Leave her an encouraging word as well. :)

You can go to Lysa’s blog post, But Victory Seems So Far Away, by clicking here.

Love & Prayers to each of you! :)

Your thoughts are my thoughts….sometimes…most times…I feel defeated even before I ever start. I was just telling a friend of mine yesterday. My ‘word’ for 2014 is GRACE. My scripture for this year is 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may live within me.” I am depending on God’s grace and power to lose 45 pounds x 2. That’s my long term goal. I have short term goals of 10 pounds at a time! For now, I am concentrating–focusing–on losing 10 pounds. And with God’s grace and power within me, I can do that! Be blessed and be strengthened by God’s mighty power and grace!!! Jeanne

    Lysa,
Thank you for all the support & encouraging words from the books you have taken time to write all the way to the daily Proverbs 31 Ministries. I am thankful to you for sharing the personal experiences you have endured in your life to help others change. Your willingness to lift up what we desire to control in living & eating is something not everyone is eager to do. But with God by your side and with the Holy Spirit residing within you are helping me :) The first book I ever picked up to read was Unglued. I had anger issues. Lots of them! I felt like I was wanting to react and prove points to win my battle. But after reading your book I saw that the battle that needed to be won was within me! God needed to win me over! Now I struggle with my new years resolution lol. Guess what that would be? Losing weight! HA! It is almost as if God truly knew what my heart desired because the first thing that appeared in my inbox for the new year was an email regarding Made to Crave:) God bless you for being the sheep amidst the wolves! Those who have not found God or have not witnessed his true power is given a chance to see through your writing! The world is changing dramatically! The more it changes the more we need GOD! So I applaud you for all the hard work, dedication, and inpiration you are giving all lost sheep! God bless your family, the continued ministry, & your writing! Job well done I am sure God would tell you! HUGS :)

  3. I can easily get defeated before even beginning too. My goal is 45 pounds too. Seems to be the magical number LOL! The toughest part is getting started, in my opinion. I need His strength to get started, and I need His Spirit for continued temperance and self control. I don’t want to stuff food anymore to deal with (which really isn’t dealing with) frustration and sadness or other emotional responses to life’s daily grind. Pray for me and I will pray for you.

  4. My goal is 50 pounds. The gaining of all this extra weight is connected to so many negative emotions that I am really looking forward to processing it all out through this bible study. Peace and blessings to all who will be on this journey whatever your goals are.

  5. Hi, Melissa. I’ve already signed up and read Lysa’s post earlier today. I love her transparency and way of teaching through her experiences. Thank you for all you do for Proverbs 31 Ministries, the online bible studies, and encouraging us to learn from the Lord. Blessings to you!

  6. Thank you Melissa! Love all the OBS & am so thankful that a friend shared proberbs31 with me. Looking forward to getting healthy with 20,000 other women!

  7. Lysa, thank you for your insights and recommendations. It’s true. Breaking down a “big” task or project helps make it more manageable and easier to carry out. Much easier to correct or address a small piece rather than the whole thing!
It use to be for me that I didn’t eat when I was stressed or overwhelmed. Back in the days when I was as skinny as a rail (98-lbs when I got married at 21). Then came the hysterectomy at 35 and hormones running amuck. At the age of 40 I became a “binger” when I was overwhelmed or depressed. Eating thoughtlessly. In January of 2013 the scales tipped at 169 and I freaked out! By November I was down to 148. Feeling good. Truly feeling physically good. Better mental clarity. No more fibromyalgia symptoms. Herniated discs weren’t bothering me. Skin was clear. Eczema was under control. How I got there was through healthy eating and portion control. I went gluten-free. Within 5-days I had NO fibromyalgia symptoms! My eczema started to clear up (I have it really bad on my feet of all places!) I greatly reduced my sugar (refined sugar) intake. Better mental clarity (after the 2-day withdrawal headache was gone). Gave up dairy (with the exception of a little sprinkle of cheese once in a while on my salads) and eggs. My lungs cleared up…no sign of asthma (I also took an herbal supplement to help my lung health). Doctor was amazed that within 10-days there was no sign of asthma what-so-ever! I started drinking more water. I had a very bad habit of not drinking any fluids…maybe 8-oz. a day sometimes. So, how did I do this you might ask? Well, I had the help of a homeopathic doctor (a really great one) and primarily God. I kept my goal reasonable. I treated myself every once in a great while to foods I wasn’t suppose to have…but in very small quantities…like maybe a bite or two. Then I paid attention to how it made me feel. No so good. So the “treats” became less frequent. Ok…so how did I fall away from this great program I had going? I stopped listening to God when I was praying about it. Oh, I sought Him, but I didn’t truly want to hear what He had to say. I wanted what I wanted to eat and that was that. So here I am, some 40-days after falling off the wagon. Back up to 160 pounds. So, in the words of Dr. Phil, “How’s that workin’ for ya?” If I’m going to be a woman of integrity and seeking good health, I MUST LISTEN TO GOD! If I’m going to pray and take His time, it doesn’t make sense to not heed His instruction. Sure, it was a stressful period. Life is stressful…but I can choose to respond to that stress in a Godly way or Satan’s way. Both want me to follow their plan. Only One has my best interest. I need to cling to that and hold on tight. Will I fail from time to time? Of course. I’m human. Do I have to wallow around in my failure? No. Today is a new day. Starting today I can do things differently. The way God wants me to. Now, let’s do this! :)

    • Hi Evie, Thanks for sharing your story we’ve all been there. It’s just a matter of picking ourselves up and getting back on track. You sound like you’re ready to do this & you will do it! :) You mentioned that your asthma symptoms went away due to herbal supplement you were taking to help with lung health. I have asthma as well. Do you mind telling me what supplement/s you take? God bless. Amanda

      • Hi Amanda. I was being treated by an acupuncturist for the asthma along with the dietary changes. The other health issues were addressed by the homeopath. The herbal supplement is: produced by Standard Process and it’s called Emphaplex. It’s a whole food supplement. I was also taking Cordiceps (has mushrooms in it, it’s an immune builder) in the beginning. My medical doctor had diagnosed the asthma, and it was so advanced that she was concerned it was going into emphysema…wrote me out a bunch of pharmaceutical prescriptions. I read the contraindications on them and said nah, there’s got to be a better way. Hence the acupuncturist, dietary changes, and whole food supplements & herbs. Went back to the MD for the 10-day follow-up. She listened to my lungs (twice) and said the prescriptions must be working! There is no sign of asthma what-so-ever! I said no, I didn’t take any of them. Took out my little bag of supplements and gave her my acupuncturist’s card. She couldn’t believe it! She was so impressed. She’s a Christian too…so she now uses what I did as a protocol for her other patients. :)
Amanda, let me know if you can find the supplement. If you can’t, I’d be happy to mail you a bottle. I will be back in the town where my acupuncturist is in about 9-days. We recently moved 5-hours away to be near our kids and grandkids.
Looking forward to going on this journey with all my sisters in Christ. We will do this with HIS help. :)

        • Hi Evie, Thanks for the quick response & for sharing! Good for you for going to a natural dr. & noting taking all the meds your dr perscribed. Thats awesome that your asthma cleared up in 10 days! Interesting, I’m going to an acupuncturist as well for many issues one of which is asthma. How many times did you go to the acupuncturist during that 10 day period? Do you have food allergies as well? I noticed that the Emphaplex has defatted wheat germ in it. I’m allergic to wheat. I’m not so sure that would be a good product for me unless you are allergic to wheat too?? It is out of stock on Amazon but there are dr’s numbers on the website. I can check on Monday & see if they have any. Is there a specific brand of Cordiceps you took? I hope you’re having a great weekend! Thanks! Amanda

          • I was seeing the acupuncturist every other week for a couple months. During that initial time of diagnosis and cure I believe I had seen her once or twice. I’m gluten intolerant but not allergic per say. She may be able to recommend an alternative since you are allergic. Here is my acupuncturist’s info: Maria Teresa Bresnan, acupuncturessentials.com, 541-601-3014. Maybe your acupuncturist and her can brainstorm your case. I’ll give Teresa permission to speak with you or your acupuncturist regarding my asthma treatment. She could mail you the supplements that she prescribed to me if they fit your situation. Anyway, I’ll call her on Monday…she opens at 11:00 and works until 7:00 or 8:00.
The Empowered Cordyceps I used is distributed by People’s Herbs, Inc, Clackamas, OR 97015, 800-270-5780 . But I get them thru Teresa. This will be awesome if this helps you out! Praying it wasn’t just an accident we found each other!
            Bless you! Evie

          • Hi Evie, Thanks again for all the great information & help! I’m not sure how comfortable your acupuncturist would be speaking/recommending a product to me. if she’s okay with it, that’s great. Pls let me know and I will contact her. My acupuncturist has had me try 2 herbs which didn’t work. She gave me another one this weekend, another $30. It’s called Dynamic Warrior.. I looked on line and couldn’t find any reviews. hmmm….I haven’t opened the bottle because i read your testimony & am interested in products you take. Please let me know. Thanks! I hope you had a great weekend! Blessings. Amanda

  8. I tried to get on your blog and it warned me against going there. ?????
I love your book (MTC)and am anxious to hear your lessons.

  9. Teri Carpentetr says:

I would love to read the blog but my computer will not go there. It says security issue. However, I have 40 to lose and have not started yet. It is a losing proposition when you are a football nut, even with 3 different devotions each day. But this will all be over for me on Monday, Jan 6, as I am college football fan only pretty much. I lost 15 lbs in August only to have a kidney stone in Sept at which time I was told to start eating my carbs again. I look forward to being in this 100% and want no distractions as I try. I have ADD and will be starting a cottage Bible study with my pastor next week along with my regular daily devotional and one I have added. Thank you so much for offering this opportunity online, as work and commute keeps me from home too much already! I look so forward to being “all in” and chatting with you weekly.
    In Him,
    Teri

  10. Mini-goals are going to be key for me, too. And, to know that I walk this road with so many others who are struggling is a thing of great comfort. Lysa’s encouragement is a welcome one as we kick off this journey together!

  11. I bought the book and journal and I have some of my dear friends involved also. I’m a recovering drug/alcoholic, free for 7 years, and when you give up one addiction you will find another. I eat when I’m depressed, mad, sad, etc.I haven’t gotten back to my big girl weight but I’m on my way because I had a hip replacement and I have been off work for 11 months. I’m going back next month and I’m terrified because I work 12 hrs and I’m the only woman. It’s a factory full of men that don’t have a care for me or my health. I want to find a place in my heart where I’ll have peace about the decisions I have to make about my life.

  12. I have the Made to Crave Devotional and it has been such an encouragement. I am working very hard to break the cycle of obsession and anxiety so that it stops before “infecting” my two beautiful young daughters. I almost said, “stops with me”, but I realize that I want it to stop BEFORE I let it get to even me. I realize my motivation has to begin with a desire to have healthy thinking for myself, and to remember that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Only then will I be able to be a healthy and whole example for my girls. Thank you for your wisdom and insight!

  13. I have gone through Made to Crave twice with groups of women. We are all excited to continue the transparency and encouragement that group Bible study brings this time using OBS. This is not a journey to start without some Jesus girls by your side. :-)

  14. Elizabeth says:

I am dianetic and would greatly like to improve my health. I have sensed in the past that I need to address the spiritual aspect of weight loss as I have lost and gained many times. I just wasn’t sure how to do that. I want to be transformed by the renewing of my mind and studying God’s word for permanent healthy changes which will provide a closer walk with my Lord too!

  15. Sarah Beverly says:

I’m so blessed already by your devotional in preparation for the BS to start that I am very excited and encouraged that this will finally be the year when I “get it.” I didn’t want to make any resolutions this year that I would fail at again so I just prayed that God would help me grow closer to Him and help me understand what’s eating me. He brought me to you (actually through a pinterest thread!). I can now resign my membership in the Clean Plate Club! This year I will let go of the old “tapes” that run in my head and really listen to what God is telling me instead of the distorted feelings I feel seeing really thin women on magazine covers or commercials. I have asked my girls to join me in your study. I am so thankful for your OBS.

  16. I was just telling a friend how hard it is for me to read the Bible when I’m not involved in a Bible study. The next day I received your invite for MTC OBS. Very excited to see what God has in store for all of us. Thanks!

  17. I like others, was unable to access your blog, but am very interested in doing so, and finding out just who you are and if you could point me in the direction of successful weight loss. I am totally discouraged. I am unemployed and have not read any of your books.
    Thanks

  18. sara bowen says:

will do and am looking at it right. Thanks for the hot tip.

  19. Hi everyone! I’ve been so excited to start this OBS, I can totally relate to replacing God with food and always turning to that for comfort. God works in great ways, this is my second OBS and the last one I started right as I was getting married (10/13) and now I am starting this one and we just found out we are pregnant! Thanks be to God for keeping my feet grounded and for Proverbs 31!

  20. utahna harris says:

Your blog is not working, both me and my daughter tried.

  21. Rosemary Osborne says:

I am looking forward to this Bible study. I am tired of feeding my face with food when I am upset. I want to feed myself with God’s Word instead!

  22. I’m with you, Melissa, on the need to lose 45 pounds. Eek!!! Kinda scary, but I’m learning to take it one moment at a time. (I actually went to Walmart today without buying a packet of candy in the checkout line! PTL!)
I’m also looking forward to the Bible study. I’ve read MTC before, but it’s been difficult to implement. I pray that with the Lord’s help and with the encouragement of so many sisters, I’ll have victory.

  23. I am on day 2 of healthier eating and
    MTC have helped me
    To
    Think differently. So
    Grateful! I am thankful
    For
    Your truthfulness and excited
    To
    Start our MTC OBS.

  24. Thank you to Melissa and Lysa and the whole P31 Team for always encouraging us and sharing their own struggles with us. Community is so important and being able to share our ups and downs is very special. :-) Love, hugs and prayers for you all.

  25. I joined Weight Watchers a year and a half ago and lost the weight i wanted to loose, but now it is starting to creep back on because i still haven’t learned how to give up the junk. I know itis a spiritual issue. I have dealt with it for so many years and feel so defeated. Food is my drug of choice. I am looking forward to this Bible Study. I want 2014 to be a year of victory!

  26. Mellissa,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day, to write this. I actually stopped …and instead of flagging this email and putting it in the MTC folder to read later I opened it, and read it. And now I came outside, and took the time to stop and leave a remark. I don’t usually take the time to STOP. I usually want to hurry onto the next task and just get things done as quick as possible. And I usually find myself not investing in anything I do. And the results are just that nothing. I really look forward to this book study, and I want to see myself invest in it, and I’m thankful that I see others writing & investing their time and effort. Because you took the time to send out the email, I’m taking the time to post to the block. Thank you for that!

I read through some of the other posts, and like many of you have struggled with alcohol, and drugs, and food, and anything else that I could stuff inside of myself to cover up what I was really hungry for. I look forward to finding what I really crave! And I look forward to gaining new relationships and insights with all of you on the road to happy destiny!

Blessings, and Mellissa I will be saying a special prayer of thanks for you and for your victory over your struggling 45 pounds, and I will be praying for Lysa, although I see from the post that people aren’t able to get to her blog so please relay the message thank you!

    Kelly S

  27. Happy Friday, Melissa! :o) Thanks for your article and for your encouragement to read Lysa’s article. I did read it and was blessed! Wow! All of these articles on your site are blessing my socks off! And causing tears of joy to flow. Thanks for your prayers. Praying for you too!

  28. I think I am meant to do this Bible Study. I bought the book ‘Made to Crave’ early December. After I read about two chapters, I received advertisement that there was going to be a Bible Study on it. The at the end of December, the website I use to read devotions on, ‘youversion.com’ sent me an email that there was a 21-day devotion for ‘Made to Crave’ which I have started reading.
Due to my many medical problems and my medication I have gained a tremendous amount of weight. I have been trying for 2 1/2 years to lose the weight. I have lost 55 pounds, but I have 180 more to go. I feel God has led me to this book, this Bible Study and the devotional because this is going to be the thing that gets me started losing again. Every time I start to lose I gain it back in water weight and have to lose it all over again. I have lost the same 10 pounds at least 20 times. I’m real excited about starting this Bible Study and learning to be more dependent on God to help me lose more weight. Thank you Lysa and Proverbs 31 Ministries.

  29. Artemis Vasdekis says:

I bought my book today! Times are tough here in Greece (who hasn’t heard of the economic crisis), and though I didn’t even have kindle, Amazon.com had a free kindle for pc app I downloaded and I bought the kindle version of the book! I’m so looking forward to this study to draw closer to God, knowing as I crave him more, all other cravings will slowly dissipate. :) Can’t wait!

  30. Cherl Freier says:

I’m sorry and I know it might not seem like a lot of money but I will not be able to do this study financially I cannot afford the book I have enjoyed the 2 studies I have done so far I ask you to please notify of others

    • Hi Cheryl, let’s find a way that I can help you out with getting the book! Can you look me up on Facebook? Evelyn Aarseth. Once we are friends on fb, I’ll need you to open up the “Chat”…I can respond, but I can’t initiate it (don’t know why). Anyway, sweet sister, we don’t want you left behind! :)

  31. well, this is my first on-line Bible study. I have ordered the book. Hoping this works for me. The last Bible study I did was over 30 years ago and I was humiliated, by some of the women at the church because I had never done a Bible study, and didn’t know much about the Bible. I never went back. So, still don’t understand much about the Bible, but I am a believer. I know that Christ died and rose for me. Hoping this works for me, doing a study at home.

    • We are so glad that you are here and I believe that you will find love, support and encouragement from this group. You are so courageous to try again because I have experienced “church hurt” and it is very painful and sometimes a little harder to recover from because I do not think that you expect to get hurt in church. I am glad that you know that Jesus died for you and I also want to share that His love is unfailing toward you and I truly believe that you have found a home and a place where you can grow in Him and the Word. Welcome,Oma

  32. Danitra Belisle says:

What I have to lose is guilt, weight, low self esteem, judging my self. I want to be what God made me to be. I know that all things are possible, I need learn to walk that out and not just say it. Live it!!
What I have to gain is peace, high self esteem, comfortable in my own skin, liking myself for what God designed me to be. I want to crave God’s word in my heart and soul like I have never experienced it before. Learning the power and promises that God gave us to use . I am so excited about this OBS.

    • yes Danitra…guilt…weight…you know charles doesnt like fat women and will dump you in a sec…..guilt…yes…you should feel it since you were sleeping with him while he was still with me and sleeping with me…God…yes you need some of that

  33. I wish I was where most of you are – I need to loose over 100 lbs. Of course my goals will have to be smaller goals or I’d give up before I started. I have the book and it was very helpful to me – I have taken off 30 lbs and I am doing it slow and steady. I will pray for you all and would appreciate prayer for me as we all do this Bible Study together.

  34. Chris Kohler says:

I am really looking forward to doing my first online Bible Study. I can never get enough of God’s Word!!!
I ask God for his help pretty much everyday to get through my days. One thing I really need help with is buying stuff even if I don’t need it. Hopefully this study will help me control my spending habits.
Not sure how the whole online Bible Study works, but I am sure I’ll figure it out. Looking forward to doing this study! January 19th can’t come soon enough!!!

  35. Ronda Oboyle says:

I am looking forward to this study. I need to drop some pounds, but more importantly I need/want to learn to crave HIM more. Hope to be encouraged and be an encourager along the way.

  36. Judy Moss says:

Just wanted to let you know that the link does not work. Apparently the link to Lysa’s blog on Proverbs 31 website has her name spelled as lysatarkeurst.com instead of lysaterkeurst.com.
Thank you so much for highlighting this post. It is very encouraging.

  37. I love this. My baby will be 8 wks on the 18th. Everything says to not do any changes until 8 wks. This on line study starts the 19. This has to be Gods plan. My short term goal is to lose 1.5 lb a week. With 18 lbs in 3 months. Sugar for a month.I plan to get back in the ymca 4-5 times a week. I had to take a 6 wk break for my little guys delivery. Im also wanting to do a bible study this winter. Praise the lord for you! Thanks for the opportunity!

  38. I am so excited to start the MTC bible study. This will be my first one. I have been so touched by Proverbs 31 through radio and what I have read online that I know this is going to be a fantastic. So thankful for you women submitting to the Lord and allowing him to use you. You are a blessing!

    A Healthy Body

    Read | 1 Corinthians 6:12, 19-20

We all know there is an undeniable relationship between our health and our ability to reach our full potential. We may labor to have a clean heart, a clear mind, and a balanced schedule, but without a healthy body, we simply cannot do our best. And good health will be enhanced when we begin to think about our bodies the way God does. In the sixth chapter of 1 Corinthians, the apostle Paul teaches that our bodies belong to the living God (vv. 19-20). As a result, we all have to make a decision: Am I going to take care of my body, or will I ignore or abuse it?

None of us would walk into church and deliberately make a big mess, smearing red or black paint all over the place. We wouldn’t do that, because we respect the church building as a place where God’s people worship. With that in mind, consider this: The human body, because it is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, is far more important than any house of worship that ever existed.

Nevertheless, people often assume that neglecting or mistreating the body is their own prerogative. Whether the issue is substance abuse, abortion, or unhealthy habits, many people will say, “This is my body. I can do with it whatever I want.” But as we read in Scripture, your body is not your possession. Although you can do as you please, you will pay the price for poor decisions. Sin has its consequences, and sin against the body can inflict a penalty that lasts even beyond the present generation. Ask God to help you regard the body as He does so that you will care for it appropriately.

Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy Charles Stanley, as he has such wisdom and helps me to understand truth in practical ways!

  40. I am very excited to be starting this new study! I am hoping to lose some unwanted pounds but more importantly gain new insight on how I am made to crave God, and develop a closer walk with Him! Also I am unable to get to Lysas blog through this link. And I am wondering if small groups have been set up yet, as I would really like to be a part of that. Thank you everyone at Proverbs 31 for your ministry!

  41. I keep saying how grateful and excited I am about this study on all my posts because I am expecting great things to happen for all of us who have committed themselves to digging in deep and running after God. One thing that I have learned with regard to my weight loss is that I need to plan and prepare my meals and snacks and then I do not do eat compulsively and I have also learned to celebrate my victories in ways other than the numbers on the scale ie:getting into a pair of pants or a dress that I have not been able to wear for six months. I know that the key to permanent and lasting success is my relationship with Him, I need to be obsessed with Him and not food. I desire to grave Him more than food or anything else that this world could offer. I am looking forward to this journey with you , ladies. Get ready, Get ready, Get ready!!!!

  42. I’ve never done an online study before but this is a topic near and dear to me. I have lost 60 lbs since August 26 and need to lose 80 more….just writing that makes me cringe. I believe God is guiding me through the struggles thus far but feel I need Him even more for this next stage so I’m really excited about participating in this!

  43. I am so excited to start this! I love Lysa’s books; I am reading 2 right now! I need to lose half of me. My encouragement is God’s Word says we can do ALL things through Christ. We are overcomers with Him. We are not recovering because that implies our addiction has power over us. Christ has won the victory and broken our chains. We just need to walk in that victory and freedom. Thank you Lysa and Melissa for hosting this and obeying God with your anointing. Praying for all of you!

  44. Thanks Melissa ! I’m ready to start MTC!!!

  45. I am excited and feel encouraged and empowered to be a part of this study. I have my books and I am happy to have this opportunity. THANK YOU and GOD bless. Linda

  46. Lisa Davis says:

    Hi Lysa,
I have signed up for the on-line bible study, MTC, through the encouragement of my niece, whom I am thankful for! I realize the study doesn’t start until Jan 19th, but I was anxious to start reading. So, just to get a little taste, I began reading the introduction, and it has already ministered to me. I look forward to reading more, and interacting with you via email. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord, and your transparency. I look forward to growing spiritually!

  47. Hi everybody.i would like to share my story for im actually on a weighless program.i need to lose 37 pounds and i’ve at this point lost 15 pounds, after 12 weeks. For many years ive been trying to lose weight through all sorts of diets.it worked for some time, then i gained back my pounds.in fact i started to put on weight after my daughter’s birth. I ate all day, between meals, when i was stressed , and started having intestinal problems often.i felt frustrated because i didn’t know how to stop all this.in the meantime, I was feeling desperately alone even though i prayed everyday so i started praying differently, spent more time with God and this led me to a deeper relationship with God.He changed my way of thinking, my patterns of thinking.then one day He led me to this weighless program. I know that it is God who led me there because i felt that it was perfect for me, for it suited my lifestyle.ive started to cook and eat in a healthier way, the portions i eat are more than enough. I dont feel hungry between meals cause i have 3 main meals plus 2 smaller meals per day and i drink at least 1.5 litres of water everyday.i even go to the restaurant sometimes or accept dinner invitations. What i want to say is do not be afraid to ask God make you see what is the eating habit that suits you for i think that each one of us has different problems with food and God knows best what is suitable and healthy for us. do not be afraid to rely on Him each day cause sometimes, i speak for myself, i would be over confident about my weight loss as if ive been doing all this by myself. But God says NO, you are to rely on ME at all time,in good and bad times. It doesn’t mean that everything is perfect for me There has been times when i returned to my old habits a day or two,but i also returned to God weeping and He is there. Holding out His loving hand to me.And then it reminds me that without Him, i am nothing. So i would like to say, do not feel discouraged, disheartened. Allow God to take you in His arms, to be this Loving Father who cares and forgives at all times. Ask Him to transform you into the person that He wants you to be. may you all be blessed . In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  48. It seems like every year, I fight the same losing battle. Lose weight. Keep the weight off. Gain the weight back. I’m 44 years old and in November 2012 I had to have a total hip replacement due to an autoimmune disease I was diagnosed with just months prior to my surgery. All that being said, I can no longer run. I most definitely miss is. It’s hard to find motivation to move this body any more whatsoever, and I know full well for this body to lose weight, I MUST move it. So here I am again, the beginning of yet another year and the same daunting goal…lose 50 pounds. Will this be the year? God I need Your miracle!!

    • Hi Deanna,
I am going to pray for you. I understand your position totally. I developed Rheumatiod Arthritis when I was 17 I am now 44. I have had surgery 13 times and am a cancer survivor. My ankle broke due to RA and long story short could not exercise for a year and recently had big ankle surgery. Before I was able to walk on my treadmill everyday. I am know using a stationery bike. My RA causes constant pain and fatigue. Up until the last year I have been very positive, ate well and exercised. I currently feel defeated in the eating area. Making very poor choices is making physically and spiritually exhausted. God is faithful and He will give us the strength do do this! He has been with me through this disease and all the many trials I have endured. I will be praying for us.

      • Awe! Thank you, Kelly! I appreciate your comment, sharing your heart, personal experiences and your prayers!! I will be praying for you as well!! Blessings to you!!

  49. Thanks so much Lisa for your wonderful encouragement. For myself and a lot of others…my weight is an on-going battle. I just signed up to do the MTC online Bible study. I can’t wait to see how God works not only in my life but yours and other women as well.
Thanks so much for this opportunity to not only shed pounds but also to increase our faith and relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. May all we do and say give Him all the Glory!!!
    Blessings!!!

  50. I just read about Lysa and feel encourage already. I brought “Made to Crave” several years ago and took it on a woman’s retreat, but never got pass the first two chapters. So, I am excited to read it for the on-line study.
Truly thanking God for all you wonderful women!

  51. happy to be here! i have at least 80 pounds to remove..taking it in 10 pound lumps to keep the goals more manageable. have not had any success in a very long time…hoping and praying, praying and hoping this will be my turning point. i am ready!

  52. Yvonne Hawkins says:

I am so in need of doing this book/Bible study. My daughter gave me the book for Christmas but I will be purchasing the devotional piece myself. My respiratory health is at risk right now and I’m praying that moving my focus toward being a better me, with God’s help, will help me overcome my chronic asthmatic bronchitis. I need/want to lose 100 pounds, but right now, my goal is to lose 10 pounds and when I’ve achieved that…..lose another 10 and so on and so on. I hope/want to gain some new sisters in Christ as we begin our journey toward craving God in every moment of our lives. January 19th cannot get here quick enough. Thank you, God, for leading Lysa and Melissa to offer us this.

  53. I am so excited to start MTC study. I need to loose some weight/establish healthier eating and exercise habits but more importantly I want to/need to crave Him more and more everyday! Looking forward to starting off our New Year with Him and MTC bible study group! Thank you Jesus for Lysa and Melissa and the rest of the OBS staff for leading this timely study! ~Blessings to you all~ Kathy

  54. Like a lot of you, I am new to this online bible study. I am looking forward to taking this journey with each of you. Together through the support and encouragement of each other we can do this. We are not alone.
Lysa has a way of speaking that is honest and real. She has made me realize that failure is only tempoary. It is not the end of the world if you make bad choices one day. Every day is a new beginning. Just like with the Father. He forgives us and loves us and says ok now stand up and walk. We have to learn to forgive ourselves and stand up and walk. He is with us now we are all together. Lets do this! God has created us for greater things.

  55. My mini goal is to be more devoted to GOd also to get in shape for my health I don’t want to focus on losing pounds but on being healthy

  56. Jennifer Sulzner says:

My sisters in Christ, I too believe I can share some insight on the “weight-loss battle”. Nineteen months ago, I got a glimpse of myself in my powder room oval mirror, wearing my husband’s sweats (because mine were too small). Next thing I knew, I was curled on the bathroom floor, sobbing. I hated myself. I hated being in my own skin. I hated how much I changed after having 2 children. And I was just exhausted from the constant daily inner war of me vs. food. Because, at the end of the day, food won and I lost. It was at this rock bottom, that God intervened almost immediately. Clarity came upon me. Perhaps, it was because I finally surrendered and realized that I no longer could take on this battle alone. I needed God to help me and I needed to reestablish God as my CENTER of my universe, not food, not family, not the house. I started walking 2 miles/day and cut my calories to 1300 which included 3 meals and 3 snacks. I got my family on board in accepting that “things were going to be different in the Sulzner household” and I expressed that I needed them to be the ones I had to be accountable to. Fast forward to now. I lost 31lbs, too many inches to count, and dropped from a size 14 to 6. When I started exercising, I would get short of breath after 2 miles. Now, I run about 20 miles a week. I am transformed. My family is transformed because “Mommy loves who she is”. And there in lies the critical lesson that I would like to pass on–you don’t realize how much your “weight issues” weigh in on every decision, thought, aspect, and existence on your life. And how it eats away at your soul and creates an infectious cancer that makes you snap at your husband, belittle your children, and hate yourself. Free yourself and let God take on this burden with you. Get yourself organized by straightening your pantry, get your “go to snacks” in order, and allow time to prepare healthy fruits, vegies, and proteins. Anything that is good for you, will require time to prepare. It is critical. My sisters, it will happen for you but there are no quick answers. There are NO quick weight-loss programs that sustain. You have commit the time, effort, and extreme discipline. Lean on your family and God will do the rest. I am living proof of it. You are in my prayers.

  57. I’m very excited about this course. It’s the first time I’ve ever done any clases as this and it just seems to be fitting in my life as I clean out and rid myself of some worries.

  58. I have lost 45 lbs since April 1st…I have about 100 to go. I didn’t feel like this is the way god wants me to be. He wants me to be fit & to treat my body like a temple…not waste it away. And one day I had just had enough. I have had this book for a while & have not read it. Maybe it’s time!!

  59. Would love to join this online study. I love reading pv31.
