Putting the Fun in Your Bible Study – OBS Options!

“Listen, Love, Repeat” Study Leader, Kendra Schwarz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHi! I’m Kendra Schwarz, the creative content coordinator for Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies. I’m all about fun. But when it comes to using the word “fun” with “Bible study,” I used to be a bit skeptical. Can Bible study be fun?

Well I’m about to show you YES, it sure can! Are you ready? It’s time to discover all of the fun options we have here at P31 OBS. And here’s the best part: Everything is optional (even reading the book, though we don’t advise skipping that part – haha).

Because all of these options are to help “sweeten” up your Bible study experience, below is a video that explains the options! Let’s just say it has to do with waffles, chocolate chips and whipped cream … click here to watch

Oh and fun fact! All of our videos are transcribed. Click here for instructions on how to turn on Closed Captioning..

Option #1: We are family (I got all my sisters with me!)
Here at P31 OBS, we are one, big, happy family. We join in community on our blog and on social media. We’d love for you to join us on all, or a few different, community-building platforms.

  • Join us on our blog here
  • Follow us on Facebook here
  • Follow us on Twitter here
  • Follow us on Instagram here

Option #2: Bible Study PDF’s
This is a NEW option in OBS, and we’re so happy you’re our first group of ladies to go through these with us! Every Tuesday and Thursday on the blog, you’ll receive a Bible study PDF to work through, based on a chapter of the Listen, Love, Repeat book. This does not replace the book, but it’s something we’ve made to accompany it, to help you dig deeper into God’s Word, if you choose.

Option #3: Teaching Series
This is the ONLY option that costs money (other than buying the trade book). The Listen, Love, Repeat Teaching Series is based on the letters written by Paul. We’ll learn how to encourage those God has entrusted to us. You’ll get more info about this option next week.

Option #4: Bible Study LIVE
We have a fast-paced and fun way to do Bible study! And do you want to know the best part? You can do it right on Facebook. Bible Study LIVE is an hour-long study session with your fellow OBSers. Sign me up! Below are the links to each event.

Option #5: Party like it’s 1999 (not really, but kind of!)
Check out the list, and click the links below to learn more and join the parties available during Listen, Love, Repeat. These parties are fun, informative and the perfect distraction from everyday life.

  • Facebook – Tuesday, April 11 at 8 p.m. ET
  • Twitter – Tuesday, April 4 & Tuesday, May 2, both 9 to 9:30 p.m. ET
  • Instagram – Wednesday, April 19 at 8 p.m. ET

But I Don’t Want It to be Over!

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Kendra Schwarz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBSHey, ladies! Kendra here, one last time with you. Just like that, it’s our last day of study. Kind of sad, isn’t it? I don’t know about you, but I think this study is going to be one I re-visit, again and again.

In Day 4’s homework this week, we have the opportunity to write down a few things we learned from this study. Before we get to the last Lysa TerKeurst video teaching, I thought I’d share mine with you.

  • Week 1: There’s a difference in coming to Jesus for bread and because He is bread.
  • Week 2: Jesus asked Peter to love Him more than the life Peter knew.
  • Week 3: We need to obey what God told us last time before we can expect to hear from Him again.
  • Week 4: Without blanks, we would have no room for the Lord to write the answers.
  • Week 5: Might this longing be the very thing connecting you to the Vine?

Now, without further ado, here’s our final teaching by author Lysa TerKeurst! We hope you’ve enjoyed the closed captioning we have on our videos. Click here for instructions.

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube.

We know life gets crazy, and you may have missed a few videos. So if that’s the case, here they are for YOU. But remember, these will only continue to be available to watch online until March 10. (And if you’d love to have your very own copy to watch when it’s most convenient — or share with friends — you can order the DVD set here.)

Thank you for being part of this study! We went on an excursion together to find “I AM,” and I think we did just that. In case you need some resources to help you once you’re done with Finding I AM we have some options listed below:

  1. First 5 app — download this Proverbs 31 app that’s geared toward helping us give our first five minutes to God every morning. It has biblical teaching and practical application.
  2. Proverbs 31 Daily Devotions — get daily encouragement in your inbox! Click here to sign up!
  3. Do it again — sounds crazy, but God is REALLY good at giving fresh revelations to old Scripture and teachings. Go back and read through the homework you’ve done and reflect.

Who’s Your Go-To?

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Kendra Schwarz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBS

Hey, girlfriend! How’s Week 5 going? It’s Kendra back with you!

Not sure about you, but something from Day 2 really hit me — the word “abide.” Yep, one little word did a work in my soul. Lysa TerKeurst says it comes from a root word meaning “to stay, remain, wait.” Just what a gal like me wants to hear.

As I read, I found myself questioning, What does “abiding” look like in my life? Does it mean I put my phone down for a few minutes and try to think about nothing? Or maybe it means I read the Bible and remain in the Word a little while longer. After some reflection, God is showing me I’m supposed to abide by simply making Him my “go-to.”

You know that friend you tell everything? Maybe a person you immediately call after having a problem with someone at work. We go to this one person in hopes to get clarity, confirmation and connection. And that person is our “go-to.”

I think this is exactly who God wants to be in our lives. And we can make Him our go-to by abiding.

I need to make a concise effort every day to move toward Jesus. And that move might be to abide, sit with him, wait or just be in His presence. Whatever it is, it needs to be something, because as Lysa TerKeurst says,

God isn’t trying to hide from us. He is waiting to be seen by us.

"God isn't trying to hide from us. He is waiting to be seen by us." — Lysa TerKeurst #FindingIAM | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 5 #P31OBS

God is waiting to be our “go-to” person. He’s waiting for us to make a move toward him so he can prune and help us bear fruit that is honoring to Him.

And here’s what’s really neat, you know how sometimes your “go-to” person isn’t available to listen? God is available 24/7. The question is, will we make Him our go-to person?

All this talk about abiding has me wondering, what do you do to “abide” in the Lord? As the hustle and bustle of the day gets in full swing, how do you take time to sit with God and remain in Him? This girl would love to know!

I AM the True Vine {Week 5}

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Kendra Schwarz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBSLadies, can we just take a second and marvel at the fact we made it to Week 5? My name is Kendra Schwarz and I’m your study leader this week.

Before we jump into the housekeeping items of a Monday post, I thought it would be good for us to get to know each other. Friendship is built on trust and what better way to build trust than to hear a confession. Right?!

Okay, here it goes …

I haven’t done all of my homework this study. Cue gasp! And if you haven’t either, that’s OK! We’re starting Week 5 together with a clean slate.

Okay, one more confession. In today’s video you’ll notice I’m eating grapes. It took two takes because I was distracted by them and messed up what I was planning to say … sigh.

Now that we have those two confessions out of the way, here’s the video, including helpful tips from Lysa TerKeurst for how to handle distractions as we study the Bible. And don’t forget we have closed captioning! How-to instructions are right here.

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube.

Told you I was distracted. Ha!

In the video, Lysa gave us a beautiful illustration of how we’re connected to the vine, tended by our ultimate Gardner, God. In today’s book work you’ll read,

We cannot do what God has called us to do without Him.”

"We cannot do what God has called us to do without Him." - Lysa TerKeurst #FindingIAM | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 5 #P31OBS

Might this serve as a little encouragement today?

We don’t want to miss out on all God’s called us to do. So this week, let’s be sure to do our study with Him so He can speak to us. As we flip open our books remember, Jesus is the vine. And He always has the branch’s best interests in mind. He is in control.

Now let’s do this Week 5 thing, shall we? And to help us with that, here’s the Study Companion. Click on “Week 5” for all you need to know about this week. I’ll see you in the comment section!

In today’s video, Lysa mentioned “setting the scene” when you begin your study time. What are some things you do to help limit distractions?
