You Are Not Alone

“She's Still There” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBSHey there, OBS gals! In case we haven’t met yet, my name is Stacy Lowe and I am over the moon excited to be one of your study leaders for our newest OBS, Worthy, based on the book She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst.

When I first joined OBS in 2013, I thought I was just going to get a Bible study in an online format. Little did I know that I was about to get that and SO. MUCH. MORE! What I found here was a COMMUNITY of women from all over the world gathered together to learn, grow and encourage one another along the way.

That community, y’all? It’s STILL here and remains one of my absolute FAVORITE things about OBS! Whether it’s in the comment section here on the blog, in an OBS event like Bible Study LIVE, or over on our various social media outlets, there is always someone around to connect with.

In other words — You’re not in this alone!

While non-OBSers may not understand the real life connections that can be found here, I am living proof. In fact, some of my very best friends in life are gals I met through OBS! Here is a picture from earlier this year when a few of us went on a road trip to meet up for some hang out time and a good old fashioned slumber party:

Study Leader Stacy Lowe and OBS friends | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBS

Pretty cool, right?

And while our community being scattered all over the world makes most face-to-face meetings a distant dream, we still get to gather here together and walk this journey hand-in-hand.

If community like that sounds like something you would like to be a part of (and we hope you do!), just click here to join in if you haven’t already, then think about who you can invite to do the study with you and share this post with her. Our study doesn’t begin until September 5, so you still have time, and as you can see, distance truly doesn’t matter!

So grab a friend, grab a book, then grab a seat and make yourself at home. This is YOUR community, y’all, and as with anything in life, you’ll get out of it what you put into it, so let’s commit to making it a great one!

~ Stacy

P.S. Still have some questions about how it all works? We’ve got your answers right here, so check it out!

The Dreamer I Used to Be

“She's Still There” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBSHey, y’all! I’m Stacy Lowe, one of your study leaders for Worthy: An Online Bible Study based on She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst.

As a little girl, I used to tell anyone who would listen that I was going to be a pediatrician when I grew up. It wasn’t just a possibility in my mind — it was for sure going to happen.

That’s how 4-year-old me felt. And 5-year-old me. And 6 and 7 and 8-year-old me. It wasn’t until somewhere around middle school that I realized science was not my thing, making doctoring a pretty poor career choice. Teaching then became my new future.

But I didn’t grow up to be a teacher either. Or anything else I really dreamed of as a youngster. In fact, my life today looks nothing like I imagined it would so long ago. … Maybe that’s true for you, too?

While there are a number of reasons little-girl dreams don’t always pan out into adult-size reality, what about the dreamer who dreamed them? Where is she? Does she still have some dreaming left to do, or is it too late?

All those questions are running through my mind and THAT is why I’m so fired up for our next Online Bible Study!

Worthy, beginning September 5, is a 6-week journey through She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst. Through the book, discussion, and Bible study, we’ll begin to rediscover our value and purpose, and learn more about the woman each of us was always meant to be!

I don’t know about you, but that gets me EXCITED and I want to invite you along!

The next Proverbs 31 Online Bible study is “Worthy” an online Bible study based on the book, “She’s Still There" by Chrystal Evans Hurst! Study starts September 5. Learn more and sign up here --> #ShesStillThere #P31OBS

Dominoes of Grace

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBSHey there, friends! Stacy back with you again today to wrap up our week. You made it to Friday (HOORAY!), but don’t go heading off into your weekend just yet! We have the third installment of the Finding I AM video series to share with you today.

Did you know that Jesus revealing Himself to ONE woman as the source of living water created a domino effect in her town? Sure did! Today, we get to hear from author Lysa TerKeurst — straight from the Holy Land — as she teaches us about what happened, AND how it all relates to the second “I AM” statement of Jesus. So grab your book, turn to page 66 and get ready to take notes!

(Don’t forget, all our OBS videos are now closed captioned! Click here if you need help accessing them.)

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube.

Wow, y’all … it amazes me to think Jesus would go out of His way like that, JUST so He could meet that woman right where she was … and speak into her the very words she so desperately needed to hear. And look what happened as a result! What an amazing God we serve!

Let’s Chat:

Turn to page 67 in your book and let’s discuss question 2: “Jesus purposely went through Samaria so He could encounter this woman.” How does this comfort you?”

**Comment on today’s blog for a chance to win the You Are So Loved wall art pictured below! Winner will be contacted via email. (Or if you’re dying to get one for yourself or as a gift, check out our cute collection of items to remind you how much you’re loved!)**

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBSHello and happy Wednesday, friends! It’s Stacy back with you again today!

How’s Week 2 going so far? Great, I hope! If you’re feeling overwhelmed with all the readings and homework, though, I want you to stop, take a deep breath, and say this with me: “If I don’t get it all done, IT’S OK!” And it is! Just do what you can, and leave the rest for another time. Deal?

Now, I couldn’t wait for today to roll around so I could share with you my favorite thing from this week’s material. It’s one seemingly simple question proposed in Day 4’s reading: WHY?

“Why” is a question I’ve asked many times and wondered about even more. I’m betting I’m not alone in this!

The disciples were caught up in this question, too. We read about it in John 9:1-5. It’s at this point in Scripture where Jesus and His disciples came upon a blind man. The disciples wanted to know WHY the man was blind. Had his parents sinned in such a way that he had to bear the punishment? Was the man’s own sin too great for him to be left physically unscathed?

Neither one, according to Jesus. In fact, He said the man’s blindness was “so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” (v. 3) Say WHAT?!

When the question “Why?” is rolling around in my brain, I don’t usually stop to think about it like that. But what if the answer to my “Why” is SO THAT the works of God might be displayed in ME?

What if that’s the answer to YOUR “Why,” too? So that God’s work might be displayed. Even — and especially — when we’re facing some of life’s most difficult circumstances.

Um, whoa. #PerspectiveChanger

I won’t give away the rest of the story because it’s covered in Day 4’s reading, but I WILL leave you with these words from Jesus: “I AM the light of the world.” John 8:12 (NIV)

John 8:12 (NIV) | "I AM the light of the world." | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | Week 2 Verse | #FindingIAM #P31OBS

And THAT is the light we are always meant to shine, even in our whys!

Shine brightly, friends! 🙂

P.S. Don’t forget to click and download your Study Companion. This has all of your events for the week, which day of homework we’re on and even lets you know when you can expect the Lysa TerKeurst video teaching for Week 2.

Let’s Chat:

How does knowing the answer to our “Why” questions — potentially SO THAT God’s light is on display — change your perspective ? In what ways does this help and encourage you?

YOU’RE INVITED! We have TWO special events happening this week! First up, Wendy Blight joins us for our second call of the Finding I AM Teaching Series. That’s coming up at 11 a.m. ET. today. To learn more or purchase the optional Series, click here! Then tomorrow night at 8 p.m. ET over on Facebook, Melis Chambers is leading us through a fun and fast hour of Bible Study LIVE. I AM the Light {Week 2}

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBSHey, y’all! I’m Stacy Lowe, coming to you from Virginia Beach, Va., and I’ll be your study leader for this week!

First of all, I have to ask — who took Lysa TerKeurst’s Prayer Challenge from Day 2 last week? If you haven’t already, be sure to check that out, and then see how it can help carry you through these next few weeks. 🙂

Moving on to THIS week, we’ll dig in to our second “I AM” statement of Jesus: “I AM the light.” What better way to begin than with a discussion between author Lysa TerKeurst and some OBS ladies, including one who “puts the fun in dysfunction.” You’ll see what I mean. Take a look at this video! (OH! And did ya hear all our OBS videos are closed captioned? Because they sure are! If you need help accessing the captions, click here.)

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube.

I don’t know about y’all, but since going to the Holy Land is on my “hopefully one-day-MAYBE-if-I’m-lucky I’ll get to do it list,” I am BEYOND excited that these videos let me see some of the very places Jesus Himself walked while on this earth! Even better, here is a FREE map you can download, showing you just where Jesus made each of His 7 “I AM” statements. How cool is that?

Now, one last thing before I go: Have you downloaded the Study Companion yet? You’ll want to print Week 2, and be sure to keep it handy so you’re in the know for all our OBS happenings, including when our next teaching video will be shared!

Alright, y’all, here’s to another great week of study! See you in the comments!

Let’s Chat:

Have you used a map in Bible study before? How can it help you in your study?
