#JesusCarbs, I AM the Bread {Week 1}

“Finding I Am” Study Leader, Melissa Taylor | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAm #P31OBSWelcome to our first day of the Finding I AM Online Bible Study! My name is Melissa Taylor and it’s my honor to kick-off our 31st #P31OBS study with you!

Each Monday, I’ll be joined by author Lysa TerKeurst, along with OBS staffers Nicki Koziarz and Kendra Schwarz in a fun little video, where we discuss Finding I AM and other fun things with you! Like, why did Lysa TerKeurst use the hashtag #JesusCarbs when Kendra was eating bread this week? Why is there a “Day 5” of homework just for you #JesusOverachievers? Why is it OK if you fall behind? Watch the video to find out!

Oh, and we have closed captioning on all of our videos. So for example … if you’re at work and can’t watch it with the volume on, we’ve got you covered! Click here for the how-to instructions on accessing the closed captioning.

Can’t view the video above? Click here to see it on YouTube.

#JesusCarbs! LOL! Oh my goodness, I hope you can see that not only do we intend to learn a lot through this Bible study, but we have fun, too.

It’s important to us that you feel valued, connected and informed in this study. That’s why we’ve developed the OBS Study Companion. Click the button below to download your Companion, filled with all the resources of the week, like:

  • A phone lock screen with this week’s “I AM” statement
  • Week 1 Study Content (for those of you who don’t have your book yet)
  • Homework assignments
  • Facebook banner
  • Extra journal pages
  • Optional study events
  • Giveaways
  • And much more!

You are going to love this resource!

Let’s get started on Day 1! Get out your Finding I AM book, and begin!

Let’s Chat:

In this study, you’ll have 4 days of homework, then a video teaching on the week’s “I AM” statement from Lysa TerKeurst. Did you catch Saturday’s post with the first video teaching? 🙂

Meanwhile, I’ve found that to be most successful in a Bible study with homework, it’s helpful to make a plan. I pre-decided that I would do my Bible study each morning at my desk with a cup of coffee, my Bible and my Bible study book. I’ve carved out 30 minutes for this before I get ready for work.

So how about you? Please share with us how you are going to make time for this Bible study.

P.S. You may notice on page 17 there’s an activity with the wrong verse listed – everyone makes mistakes, right? Anyway, the correct verse is Luke 21:34. Happy homework-ing!

Something New Just for You: The Finding I AM Teaching Series!

“Finding I AM” Study Leader, Nicki Koziarz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #FindingIAM #P31OBSHello, friends!

It’s Nicki Koziarz here with you today! We are just about ready to get started with our study of Finding I AM, and I’m so ready … but can I be honest? I don’t know about you, but sometimes I need some extra encouragement to start and finish a Bible study.

It’s not intentional … I always start things off with the best of intentions. But then, life. You know?

Well, I’m excited to tell you about a unique opportunity (completely optional) we have for our Finding I AM OBS community.

Next week we’ll be kicking off our Finding I AM teaching series! Now, this teaching series is optional and it’s separate from the Finding I AM OBS, but it can be used to go along with your study if you choose! You’ll get to hear from a few of our wisest Bible teachers here at Proverbs 31 Ministries. Lysa Terkeurst, Krista Williams, Whitney Capps and Wendy Blight will be guiding us through the seven I AM statements.

These ladies will help us make the connection with the I AM statements from the Old Testament to the New Testament. They will give us the encouragement, wisdom and accountability we need to complete the entire study.

Here are a few ways this teaching series is going to help me stay on track!

  1. I get to listen when it’s most convenient for me. Sometimes I can listen when it’s live, sometimes I listen in the carpool line. But all the sessions are recorded and popped right into my email inbox — ready for me to listen when I’m ready.
  2. Hearing from other Bible teachers is so beneficial. I love to hear their personal takeaways, stories and practical application. It helps me think about my own journey in a more in-depth way.
  3. The teaching series community is so fun! There’s a private Facebook group where we’ll get to connect with each other, talk about what we’re learning and stay accountable.

I hope you’ll think about joining us for this optional teaching series, it’s going to be SO GOOD. So are you interested? If so, click here to learn more and purchase the series! We’d love for you to join us!

Comment below what you’re looking forward to during this study, and you could win the ultimate study package — complete with a teaching series and a Finding I AM book! We’ll choose five randomly and notify the winners via email.

“See” you there!
