How to Scatter “Undeserved” Love

"Listen, Love, Repeat" Study Leader, Jen Folz | Proverbs 31 Online BIble Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHey, it’s Jen back to wrap up Week 4 with you today. How’d your week go? I hope y’all enjoyed it as much as I have. Have you noticed you’re taking more time to see and hear the unloved and lonely in your life?

Although loving the lonely souls, prickly porcupines and stinky skunks can feel like hard work, Karen Ehman reminds us in this week’s chapters our own lives will feel blessed when we find ourselves reaching out to others — especially those whom we feel may not deserve our love.

That’s why I love our verse this week:

“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.”~Luke 6:35a (NIV)

Luke 6:35a (NIV) | "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back." | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | Week 4 Verse | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBS

This verse reminds us that, when we love others, we need to do so out of obedience and without expecting anything in return.

In today’s video teaching, Karen gives us great advice and shares numerous stories about doing just that … reaching out to the least deserving. She shows us how patience and perseverance can lead us to fulfilled lives of loving others. Um, yes please! And if you’d like closed captioning as you watch, click here for instructions.

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube.

Wow, isn’t it awesome that God puts “on-purpose people” in our paths every day! So, even though it takes time, and it isn’t easy, we can learn to love the least deserving. We can learn to live so that people see God’s love in us by listening, loving, and repeating!

Let’s Chat:

Do you have a “Rudy with the cooties” story, like Karen shared in today’s video? Are you more likely to bring your “presence” or “a present” to someone in need?

Can’t wait to meet you in the comment section below!

~Jen

Read Matthew 25:40 . How does this verse help us look beyond the harshness we can sometimes encounter, and love with no strings attached, expecting nothing in return?

I look forward to hearing from you and catching up in the comments.

Reaching the Unreachable

"Listen, Love, Repeat" Study Leader, Jen Folz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHi, it’s Jen back with y’all today to talk about noticing and finding those lonely souls in our lives.

Have you ever walked into a room full of people, yet felt completely alone? Oh friend, me too! I’m someone who enjoys being around those I love. However, at the same time, I’m an introvert to the core.

Sometimes, it’s difficult to make conversation. And we may feel it’s better to stay quiet or keep to ourselves. But, in Chapter 7 of Listen, Love, Repeat, Karen Ehman reminds us how God wants us to reach out of our comfort zone and encounter lonely souls … even when it feels awkward.

Eeek! This makes my introverted self shiver.

In our Bible study yesterday, we learned that God made us to “do life” with others. And yet, I’ll admit, I often allow myself to get so busy, and often distracted with “my” life, I have to really pause to notice the lonely among us. This is why I love Karen’s reminder this week:

“What we do for ‘the least of these,’ we do it for Christ.”

"What we do for the least of these, we do it for Christ." - Karen Ehman #ListenLoveRepeat | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 4 #P31OBS

So, how can we reach these souls who might feel unreachable?

Good news — Chapter 7 is full of practical tips! And one tip that stood out to me, that seems to connect all the others, is to seek God and ask for His help in noticing who needs our love. When we do this, maybe He’ll draw someone to us through our work or our family. Or perhaps someone we cross paths with today will be the person who needs our love the most.

Either way, are you ready to challenge yourself to be “a noticer” of those around you?

~Jen

Let’s Chat:

Who’s ready for a challenge?! Let’s go out this week in our community and truly notice the people around us. Who needs your love this week? What’s ONE action you will take to reach someone who’s feeling lonely and unloved?

For me, I feel like I spend a lot of time in the grocery store. I’m always forgetting an item! So this week I’ll make time to start a conversation with the cashier. I’ll remind myself to slow down and smile. I’m hoping this small act will make someone else’s day a little brighter.

You’re Invited!
A great way to dig deeper into our study to learn how to be better “noticers” is to subscribe to our optional Listen, Love, Repeat Teaching Serieswhere participants are learning and studying Letters from the Apostle Paul. The next one happens TODAY at 11 a.m. EDT — and it’s not too late to join us! Click here to learn more.

Doing Life Together {Chapter 7 Bible Study}

"Listen, Love, Repeat" Study Leader, Jen Folz | Proverbs 31 Online BIble Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHappy Tuesday, OBSers!

I’m happy to be back with you today. I can’t wait for us to get started on the Chapter 7 Bible study. Y’all, it’s so good.

Brand NEW this study! Join us on the blog for a FREE downloadable / printable Bible Study PDF to help you dig deeper into Chapter 7 of our "Listen, Love, Repeat" online Bible study. #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBS

In today’s lesson, Melissa Taylor helps us understand how the Bible clearly tells us we’re created to do life with others. As I was reading, I thought about one of my favorite lines from the song If I Should Fall Behind, by Bruce Springsteen:

“If as we’re walking a hand should slip free

I’ll wait for you

And should I fall behind

Wait for me”

This reminds me of our OBS community, the friendships I’ve seen grow here and how God made us for relationships. Isn’t it so cool that we, as OBSers, live all over the world, and yet we can come together and study side-by-side?

So, let’s open our Bibles, download the Chapter 7 Bible study below, and learn how we can walk hand in hand.

If you’d prefer to print the entire Bible study at once, rather than day by day, here’s the full Bible study, all in ONE PDF! Click the “Download Now” button below to access it!

Let’s Chat:

In today’s Bible study, Melissa Taylor refers to Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. How can you apply verse 10 to someone in your life whom Jesus may be calling you to “grab hold of their hand?”

I’m looking forward to hearing from you in the comment section!

~Jen
