Doing Life Together {Chapter 7 Bible Study}

"Listen, Love, Repeat" Study Leader, Jen Folz | Proverbs 31 Online BIble Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHappy Tuesday, OBSers!

I’m happy to be back with you today. I can’t wait for us to get started on the Chapter 7 Bible study. Y’all, it’s so good.

Brand NEW this study! Join us on the blog for a FREE downloadable / printable Bible Study PDF to help you dig deeper into Chapter 7 of our "Listen, Love, Repeat" online Bible study. #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBS

In today’s lesson, Melissa Taylor helps us understand how the Bible clearly tells us we’re created to do life with others. As I was reading, I thought about one of my favorite lines from the song If I Should Fall Behind, by Bruce Springsteen:

“If as we’re walking a hand should slip free

I’ll wait for you

And should I fall behind

Wait for me”

This reminds me of our OBS community, the friendships I’ve seen grow here and how God made us for relationships. Isn’t it so cool that we, as OBSers, live all over the world, and yet we can come together and study side-by-side?

So, let’s open our Bibles, download the Chapter 7 Bible study below, and learn how we can walk hand in hand.

If you’d prefer to print the entire Bible study at once, rather than day by day, here’s the full Bible study, all in ONE PDF! Click the “Download Now” button below to access it!

In today’s Bible study, Melissa Taylor refers to Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. How can you apply verse 10 to someone in your life whom Jesus may be calling you to “grab hold of their hand?”

I’m looking forward to hearing from you in the comment section!

Prickly People Need Love Too!

"Listen, Love, Repeat" Study Leader, Jen Folz | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHi everyone! I’m Jen Folz, your study leader for the week. Can you believe it’s Week 4 already?

Is anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed with life and busy schedules? Let’s take a deep breath together and give ourselves a little grace to focus on this week’s #ListenLoveRepeat chapters!

Now, this may sound like a funny question, but has a person’s behavior ever made you feel like you were hugging a porcupine or squeezing a skunk?

In this week’s video, Melissa Taylor and Karen Ehman talk about how to love those “hard to love” people in our lives. Whew! I could definitely use some tips in this area. Let’s watch and see what we learn about these “prickly people.” And remember, our OBS videos are closed captioned. Click here for instructions.

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube.

Wow! Did anyone else picture those who’ve behaved like porcupines and skunks in your life? I sure did. I don’t know about you, but for me it can sometimes feel tricky to love these hard to love people. Like Karen reminds us in Chapter 8 of Listen, Love, Repeat:

“It is a counter-cultural idea to love the unloving. But it is God’s plan for us.”

"It is a countercultural idea to love the unloving. But it is God's plan for us."-Karen Ehman #ListenLoveRepeat | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 4 #P31OBS

While loving those who’ve “pricked” or “skunked” us with their behaviors is NOT easy to do, in this week’s chapters, Karen has generously provided us with some helpful tips on loving difficult people. Click here for your free download of these!

And let’s not forget our go-to source for this week’s study happenings: the OBS Study Companion. Now that you have all you need for the week, grab a snack, and let’s meet below to chat in the comments.

Have a great Monday y’all.

~Jen

When you encounter someone who feels like a porcupine, or their behavior stinks like a skunk, how do you react? What positive action, from our free download above, can you take this week to love a difficult person?

For me, it takes a lot of patience and remembering to use grace when I encounter a situation like this. I stumble often, but I keep trying. This week I’m going to take action by praying for the difficult person in my life.

When I Don’t Feel Hospitable

“Listen, Love, Repeat” Study Leader, Anna Currin | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ListenLoveRepeat #P31OBSHi friends! Wow, I can’t believe we’ve come to the end of week three. I’ve loved leading y’all this week. I know it’s Friday, but don’t check out on me just yet. Let’s finish strong!

So, a year ago in March, my husband and I bought our first home. Before then, we lived in an apartment, then a townhouse. But do you know what? We very rarely had people over!

It wasn’t that we didn’t want people to come over. But more due to my own insecurities that our place wouldn’t provide enough space … and that I didn’t feel “equipped” to host. But I love what Karen Ehman says in Chapter 6 of Listen, Love, Repeat:

“Entertaining puts the emphasis on you and your home and seeks to impress others. In contrast, hospitality puts the emphasis on your guest and seeks to help them feel refreshed, not impressed, when they leave your home.”

Yes, yes and yes! It’s now clear I had a misconstrued idea of what it means to be hospitable. I over-complicated something that’s as simple as “making your guest leave feeling refreshed.”

Karen has a way of simplifying hospitality that takes the pressure off, doesn’t she? And today’s video is no different! Check it out below. And if you’d like to read the closed captioning as you watch, click here.

If you can’t view the video above, click here to watch on YouTube. Miss any of the past week’s #ListenLoveRepeat videos? You can still catch them below. But don’t forget, these videos will only be available through May 19, so make sure to take advantage while you can!
