Living So That, Our 16th OBS :)

Welcome to our 16th Online Bible Study!!! I never dreamed in a million years I’d ever be able to say that! Thank you for joining me…and us.  Who is us you might ask?  “Us” is our amazing Proverbs 31 Ministries OBS (online Bible study) team and you, our amazing Living So That OBS group of over 12,000 ladies from all over the world! Wow!

Author of Living So That Wendy Blight and I sat down recently to discuss what people could expect during the first week of her book. Come sit in on our conversation & hear what we had to say~

If you are reading this in your email, you may not be able to be able to see the video just above this sentence of me and Wendy. That’s ok, we know not everyone can see it in the post! Just click here and you will be able to watch the video for this week. 🙂

Make sure you watched that video, it contained your memory verse for the week and some of what Chapter 1 would be all about.

What You Need To Know:

You will receive each OBS post to your email only if you actually signed up for the study. If you haven’t signed up, you can do that by going here and following the instructions.

You can also see each post on the Proverbs 31 OBS website. Just click “Go to the Study Blog” in the right column.

There will not be a post each day. The study leaders will post a few times during the week to offer you encouragement, insight, Bible study skills, and motivation to stay on course during this study!

We want to hear from you! This is your Bible study group. Please take the time to comment in our comment section. This is how you join the conversation! Share what you are learning, thinking, and any questions or insight you might have. This is your group, and we value your participation!

Living So That has 5 chapters. We will do 1 chapter per week.

Each chapter has 5 parts. In each part you will have reading from your book and Bible, plus some questions to answer and think about.

You will have all week to do all 5 parts.  How you get them done, and when you get them done is up to you. That’s what makes OBS so awesome, you make your schedule. But don’t be slack! Make Bible study a priority! I’m doing my 5 parts Monday-Friday. But that’s just me, you pick what works for you.

We will begin the next chapter on the following Sunday.

If you don’t have your Living So That book yet, here is Chapter 1. But make sure you’ve ordered your book! You’ll need it to do this study and this is the only chapter we’ll be offering! Buy the book here.

Consider joining our Living So That Conference Call Series! It’s the only place you’ll find an author, pastor, pastor’s wife, and a “Bachelorette” (yes, Emily from ABC’s hit reality series The Bachelorette is a Jesus girl!). Plus, we are going to get real about Bible study. This series is designed to help you make Bible study a part of your every day life in a very practical way.  Check out the details here! I hope you can join us! Our first call is Thursday, April 10th!

Hey, one more thing~ I want to meet you! Introduce yourself, where you are joining us from, and why you are ready to do this Bible study. I’ll start~

I’m Melissa and I live in Charlotte, NC. I’m so thankful to be in this Bible Study with all of you! Looking forward to all that God will show us during this study!

Ok, are you ready?  Chapter 1~5 parts~beginning now!

Hugs to all my sweet OBS friends! Let’s go!

Be The One

Living So That FB Cover for profile wk 1Our beautiful graphic was created by Proverbs 31 Ministries’ OBS Team Member, Katrina Wylie. Isn’t it gorgeous? Feel free to use this as your Facebook banner and share with friends on social media 🙂  I did!

Often when signing up for something like this Bible study, we are excited in the beginning and very motivated to get started. The first few days are new and different and usually we start off strong. But as we’ve learned around here, motivation won’t last. Life will interrupt. And unless we have a plan to make sure we stick to it, we could easily get derailed, get behind, and then quit.

I don’t know about you, but I want to not only be motivated, but more importantly, be prepared and intentional. I want to do this well.

One thing that has helped me so much, is to create a space where I’m going to do my Bible study each day. Along with creating a space, I set a time and put it in my daily calendar. Just like I know that I pick up my son from school at 2:15 pm, I have another commitment to do my Bible study at 5:30 am on the lounge in my bedroom. This is the time & space that works best for me. In planning the rest of my week, if I foresee something that might interfere with this~ for example, if I know I’m going to have a late night because of my son’s lacrosse game Tuesday night, I might see the need to sleep a little later on Wednesday. Because of that, I would look at Wednesday’s calendar and reschedule my Bible study for lunch time instead.

Don’t just expect Bible study to happen. Make it happen. It’s important. Filling up with God’s Word will do so much for your life~ mind, body, and spirit! Don’t be the one who watches everyone else around them take off and get the most out of this study. Be the one. #BeTheOne  🙂

Create a space. Set a time. Be the one.

Consider this your Bible study skill to focus on for this week. I know it’s not actually a “study skill” but it will prepare us to be able to focus so we can do our Bible study and begin to learn some Bible study skills along the way. 🙂

Yesterday, I shared a video from me and Wendy Blight for you. I also shared all of Chapter 1 and its five parts, which is all of what we will cover this week. If you missed this information, you can click here to view it.

Have you gotten started yet?  I  read the “Message From My Heart” by Wendy and read Part One of Chapter One today! It has me so excited to keep going and I can’t wait to dig into God’s Word! It also made me want to make this a family thing. Not just keep it all to myself, but share it! (Loved the verse on a plate idea!)

I’m sticking with my plan and going to have my Living So That Bible study time five days a week! I’m already better after just doing one day! Whooo Hooo! Gonna #BeTheOne!

So, where do you do your Bible study?  When do you do it? And are you committed to #BeTheOne?  That’s our discussion today! Please share in the comment section how you are going to make this work!

***Reminder, there will NOT be a blog post/email every single day. You just keep on doing your Bible study though. Don’t wait to be told what to do. We are doing Chapter One this week, that’s all you are responsible for. You decide when you do this and how you will get it done. <3

From Grave to Grace

Hello LST Gals!  Happy Tuesday!

I wasn’t going to write today, but I saw this video from Proverbs 31 OBS Team Member, Stacy Lowe, and I JUST HAD to share it with you! It’s short, sweet and to the point, but best of all it’s going to BLESS YOUR SOCKS OFF!  (Do people say that all around the world, or just around here?)

Check out this video from Stacy and then let’s talk about what this means for us!

If you cannot see the video above, please click here so you can watch it.

Who knew God could use a typo to bring a message to life?  Wow!

“Grace does not depend on what we have done, but on what God has done for us.”~ Wendy Blight

From Grave to Grace…Let’s discuss! (share your thoughts in the comment section)
