Hey! What Are You Doing September 8th?

Hey! Check out this video because I have something for us all on September 8th!

If you cannot see the video above, click here to watch what’s happening on Tuesday, September 8th!

Hi everyone, and welcome to Proverbs 31 Ministries Online Bible Studies!

MelissaprofilenaturalI’m Melissa Taylor and let me be the first to say how happy I am that you are joining me today!

Like I said in the video, if you have already signed up for our next OBS, Taming the To-Do List by Glynnis Whitwer, then you are probably reading this in your email. Thank you for signing up!

Here’s what you’ll get as a result of signing up and being a part of this community:

  • Real hope for real life. Yep, that’s what we are all about. Come here, be yourself, let God do the rest.
  • Bible Study & Community — we have a great balance of both.
  • Leading and teaching from women who are similar to you. We’ve studied and prepared to lead well, but our lives are crazy, too! We aren’t perfect and we aren’t even Bible scholars, but we do love Jesus A LOT and we know first-hand the difference it makes walking daily with God and being in His Word versus trying to do it all on our own.
  • Acceptance. We might not all agree, but you’ll find a healthy respect in this community. You can ask questions without fear of what others will think of you.
  • Fun! We are serious about God’s Word and will never compromise that! Ever! We aren’t so serious, however, that we don’t have fun. We will celebrate what God is doing in our lives!

Psalm 71.8

I Thought About Skipping This Study

Nichole Stern and #TameYourList author, Glynnis WhitwerHi friends! It’s Nichole Stern with you today!

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the author of our next Proverbs 31 OBS, Taming the To-Do List, Glynnis Whitwer this summer at She Speaks 2015, and she is an absolute delight! ☺

In the spirit of being real, I must admit something. Before I spoke with Glynnis about her book (which we’ve nicknamed TDL), I just wasn’t feeling like this study was for me. I made the common mistake of judging a book by its cover. And y’all, I know better – I am the daughter of a librarian, for goodness sake!!

Based on the title, though, I assumed it was an instructional, self-help book written by and for busy Moms juggling busy schedules. Not being a Mom myself, I figured it wasn’t for me. God had other ideas though.

While talking with Glynnis last month, I mentioned that I am an overachiever. She gave me a knowing smile. You see, while there are great nuggets of truth in this book for busy Moms, that truth also applies to my life as a wife and career woman. In fact, it’s true for anyone who wants to give God their best work every day, regardless of their life stage.

Taming the To-Do List

Written from a heart of experience and grace, Glynnis’ book brings hope, encouragement and truth along with practical tools to identify why we put off addressing our highest and best work. She gives sound advice on how we can determine what to say NO to and what to say YES to!
I can absolutely use a little (OK, A LOT) of help on ALL of these fronts!

As I have studied TDL, I have also noticed this word, procrastinate, keeps coming up. To procrastinate means “to put off to another time, to defer or delay.” This word makes me a little uncomfortable because I am a “doer.” I make a list, I get things done and I check them off the list. Surely, as a doer, I cannot also be a procrastinator, can I?

Indeed, I can. And friends, guess what? So can you.

If you’re looking to give God your best in all your life assignments and desire hope and encouragement along the way,  join us as we walk through Taming the To-Do List in our next #P31OBS. Our five-week study begins September 8th, 2015.

Sign-up is easy and free; just click here or the red tab in the top right corner. You’ll find instructions to sign up and purchase the book.

We Are For You

Missy P ProfileHello friends! I’m Missy Pettigrew, and today, Nichole Stern and I can’t wait to tell you a little about what to expect and look forward to, as part of this #P31OBS community. (That’s right, we’ve got our own hashtag!)

And guess what? You’ve already got a nickname. Oh, how I wish we were sitting around my couch so I could hear our seasoned friends shout it out. You are OBSers!

Although this community welcomes women from all over the world, in all different stages of life, we are united in our love for God.

After my family had made the difficult decision to leave our old church and look for one closer to home, I found myself aching for the community of women I had been so intimately involved with. Maybe you’ve felt something similar?

God answered my prayer with my first online Bible study in 2012, and I was hooked. Before long, each morning I found myself itching to see how others were responding to the book we were reading. And the prayers! Oh. My. Yes! There is nothing so powerful as the prayer of a friend for another friend. I can’t tell you how often I typed my heart into that little comment box and some unknown friend would respond with a prayer of encouragement to keep me moving along! I was seeing Galatians 6:2 (NLV) come alive on my screen, each time I logged on to the P31 OBS blog.

“Help each other in troubles and problems. This is the kind of law Christ asks us to obey.”

And then, I began meeting some of these online encouragers in real life! The picture below includes a bunch of ladies who either participate or lead within #P31OBS. How beautiful to hug those who’ve come alongside me!

Each woman in this photo represents a real life and this wonderful Proverbs 31 OBS community is helping provide each of us real hope!

Nichole S Profile HeadshotHi friends! Nichole Stern here to share part of my #P31OBS story! My husband Todd and I live outside Raleigh, N.C. When I say ‘outside’, I mean WAY outside. We’re about a 40-minute drive from everything. Our church included!

When we moved, I had a tough time making Bible study on time every week. That 40-minute drive after a full workday was just too stressful. So I made the difficult decision to stop trying to kill myself to get there, but I continued the study on my own. Y’all — I was L-O-N-E-L-Y and desperate to connect with other women. God met my deep longing for connection by bringing me to this OBS. It has truly changed my life. I have found an amazing community of women who love God, each other and carry one another’s burdens. We hope that’s what you’ll find here, too!

If you haven’t already registered, join us for our next Proverbs 31 Online Bible Study, Taming the T0-Do List. This 5-week study begins September 8th and we would LOVE to have you! Click here to register.

Have a blessed day! ~Missy & Nichole
