You Are Not Alone

“She's Still There” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBSHey there, OBS gals! In case we haven’t met yet, my name is Stacy Lowe and I am over the moon excited to be one of your study leaders for our newest OBS, Worthy, based on the book She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst.

When I first joined OBS in 2013, I thought I was just going to get a Bible study in an online format. Little did I know that I was about to get that and SO. MUCH. MORE! What I found here was a COMMUNITY of women from all over the world gathered together to learn, grow and encourage one another along the way.

That community, y’all? It’s STILL here and remains one of my absolute FAVORITE things about OBS! Whether it’s in the comment section here on the blog, in an OBS event like Bible Study LIVE, or over on our various social media outlets, there is always someone around to connect with.

In other words — You’re not in this alone!

While non-OBSers may not understand the real life connections that can be found here, I am living proof. In fact, some of my very best friends in life are gals I met through OBS! Here is a picture from earlier this year when a few of us went on a road trip to meet up for some hang out time and a good old fashioned slumber party:

Study Leader Stacy Lowe and OBS friends | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBS

Pretty cool, right?

And while our community being scattered all over the world makes most face-to-face meetings a distant dream, we still get to gather here together and walk this journey hand-in-hand.

If community like that sounds like something you would like to be a part of (and we hope you do!), just click here to join in if you haven’t already, then think about who you can invite to do the study with you and share this post with her. Our study doesn’t begin until September 5, so you still have time, and as you can see, distance truly doesn’t matter!

So grab a friend, grab a book, then grab a seat and make yourself at home. This is YOUR community, y’all, and as with anything in life, you’ll get out of it what you put into it, so let’s commit to making it a great one!

~ Stacy

P.S. Still have some questions about how it all works? We’ve got your answers right here, so check it out!

Why This Study Is For Every Girl

"She's Still There" Study Hosts, Kendra and Melissa | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBSWe don’t get to say this about every book we read here at P31 OBS, but we think this one is for every girl! That’s right, we said every girl. Why? Because at some point we all struggle with feeling worthy.

Hi, I’m Kendra and today Melissa and I are both going to give you our honest opinions of the book, She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst.

First, we’ll hear from Melissa:

“She's Still There” Study Host, Melissa Taylor | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBSI read this book before it was ever printed and I was captivated from the very start. I don’t know that I’ve read another author who is so honest.

Often while reading I was caught off guard. Chrystal is the real deal, a fierce woman who will speak her mind and open your eyes to the greatness God has for you. She’s brave. She’s courageous. And she shows us that with God, we don’t have to settle in life. It’s never too late to make ours a life we love.

Side note: When I gave this book to our OBS Review Team, it was unanimous. They all agreed that this was needed and necessary for every woman. And so, here we are.

And now a word from Kendra:

“She's Still There” Study Leader, Kendra | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBS

When the author of a book pulls you aside and says, “I heard you didn’t like the first part of my book…” you immediately start sweating. This actually happened to me when I met Chrystal Evans Hurst.

Let me explain. Part 1 of She’s Still There is about how we tend to lose ourselves. Depending on unwanted situations, tough decisions, and propositions, we lose the hopes and dreams we once had. For me, as a 25-year-old, I felt like I hadn’t lost that girl in me… yet. But hold on just a minute! I am so glad I kept reading!

As I continued, I realized that although I might not have lost that girl yet, I need to protect her from ever getting lost. The rest of the book taught me I could develop in ways I never imagined. That God has plans for me that I’ve yet to see and I want to make godly and right choices so that will happen. In the end, this book rocked my world. So much so that I read Part 2 – Part 6 in ONE DAY.

This book is for you. It’s for the 25-year-old that still feels hopeful for the future. It’s for the young mom who might feel like life is centered around her kids and her dreams have taken a back seat. It’s for the ladies who need to remember that they are worth fighting for. It’s for all of us who need a little encouragement from a sister-friend like Chrystal, who points us to God’s Word for the truth about who we are. It’s for those of us who need to remember that we are worthy.

If you haven’t signed up already, we want to invite you to join us for Worthy, an online Bible study based on the book She’s Still There by Chrystal Evan Hurst. The study begins September 5 and you can sign up here today!

Comment and let us know why you’re excited to study She’s Still There with us, and five will win a copy of the book! Winners will be notified via email.

The Dreamer I Used to Be

“She's Still There” Study Leader, Stacy Lowe | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #ShesStillThere #P31OBSHey, y’all! I’m Stacy Lowe, one of your study leaders for Worthy: An Online Bible Study based on She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst.

As a little girl, I used to tell anyone who would listen that I was going to be a pediatrician when I grew up. It wasn’t just a possibility in my mind — it was for sure going to happen.

That’s how 4-year-old me felt. And 5-year-old me. And 6 and 7 and 8-year-old me. It wasn’t until somewhere around middle school that I realized science was not my thing, making doctoring a pretty poor career choice. Teaching then became my new future.

But I didn’t grow up to be a teacher either. Or anything else I really dreamed of as a youngster. In fact, my life today looks nothing like I imagined it would so long ago. … Maybe that’s true for you, too?

While there are a number of reasons little-girl dreams don’t always pan out into adult-size reality, what about the dreamer who dreamed them? Where is she? Does she still have some dreaming left to do, or is it too late?

All those questions are running through my mind and THAT is why I’m so fired up for our next Online Bible Study!

Worthy, beginning September 5, is a 6-week journey through She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst. Through the book, discussion, and Bible study, we’ll begin to rediscover our value and purpose, and learn more about the woman each of us was always meant to be!

I don’t know about you, but that gets me EXCITED and I want to invite you along!

The next Proverbs 31 Online Bible study is “Worthy” an online Bible study based on the book, “She’s Still There" by Chrystal Evans Hurst! Study starts September 5. Learn more and sign up here --> #ShesStillThere #P31OBS

Let’s Not Quit

"Me, Myself, and Lies" Study Leader, Angela Diemer | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #NoMoreLies #P31OBSWOW! And just like that, we’ve come to the end of our Me, Myself, and Lies study. I know Trish and I are so thankful for getting to join you here on the blog each week. Thanks for hanging out with us!

Before I get all misty eyed, let’s do a quick “look back recap” on what we learned throughout the last 5 weeks of our #NoMoreLies journey.

Week 1

  • We got into, and began to sort through, our personal thought closets, starting to learn, recognize and replace the old wardrobe of lies with the new beautiful truth!

Week 2

  • We discovered that the words we think and say to ourselves have power, remembering we need to choose and speak wise truths to our hearts and mind.

Week 3

  • We learned to keep our eyes fixed on God, “tuning in” and “looking up” to Him at all times, placing our hope in Him.

Week 4

  • We realized we need to “calm down” our souls and “look up” to God, remembering what we have in Him. And that our past memories can be healed and redeemed through Him.

Week 5

  • We became aware of the importance to “chill out” and find true rest in God. Plus being able to recognize, when there are those times, where we need to “press on” in perseverance.

We’ve really come a long way since we started. But just because our 5 weeks together have come to a close doesn’t mean we now have to close the door on our thought closet progress. Let’s stay persistent in applying the new ways we’ve learned to think, talk and believe about who we are … who God says we are!

So let’s not quit, because like Jennifer Rothschild says in Me, Myself, and Lies:

“If you quit, the world will be lacking what you alone bring to it.”

"If you quit, the world will be lacking what you alone bring to it." - Jennifer Rothschild #NoMoreLies | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 5 #P31OBS

Well friends, we didn’t have a chance to dig into Chapter 11, Lift Up, but we want to encourage you to continue on reading through it. There’s an important message on the effects of encouraging one another, and how that builds us up in Christ. You don’t want to miss it! Plus, you’ll never look at pink flamingos the same again (wink, wink).

We hope this study has encouraged you, revealed truth to your heart and showed you how the words we speak to ourselves shape who we are. Remember:

The more truth we say to our souls, the more the lies die.

And just two quick things before we say good-bye.  First, we’d love to have you join us for our next study, Worthy — a study based on She’s Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst. You can sign up here. It’s going to be the perfect follow up study for Me, Myself, and Lies! And lastly, come join us in the comment section here one last time. Your voice is important to us and we’d love to hear from you!

What is Rest?

"Me, Myself, and Lies" Study Leader, Angela Diemer | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies | #NoMoreLies #P31OBSHey there summer gals! Can you believe we’ve arrived at the final Bible Study section for Me, Myself, and Lies? Let’s come with an expectant heart today, to hear a specific word from God. Okay?

I love reading and studying the Word of God. It’s transformed my life! So, I guess you could say I get a “tad” excited when it comes to studying and sharing the truth found in Scripture.

It’s those quiet moments of spending daily time with God in Scripture that give my mind, heart and soul rest. And we all desire rest, right? Scripture (and our study) tells us what resting in God is like. I love how Jennifer Rothschild says it in Me, Myself, and Lies:

“Rest isn’t just what God did. Rest is who God is.”

"Rest isn't just what God did. Rest is who God is." - Jennifer Rothschild #NoMoreLies | Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies Week 5 #P31OBS

Rest IS who GOD IS — Love that! It makes me look at “rest” in an entirely new way:

I’m at rest, because God is rest, and God’s in me.

We have Sarah Travis helping us get into Scripture today for our Bible study time. And she openly shares with us about some past challenges she had to walk through, and how she found rest in God. Her story alone will encourage you! But that’s not all, she also weaves in the inspiring true stories of Deborah and Elijah, found in the Old Testament. Now don’t worry if you’re not familiar with who they are; she’ll fill you in and bring you up to speed.

Also, a little side note, this week’s section in the Bible study may take you a bit longer to complete. But stay the course and take your time as you go through it, asking God to show you what He has for you. I know it’ll be worth it!

If you haven’t already, you can still download the full Bible study and get started today on the section labeled for Week 5 by clicking on the button below.

I’m believing God has a personal message for you today!
