Last week, Tate, my youngest, had to wear dress pants to school.
When I went to get his khakis out for the night, the first, second, third and fourth pairs I pulled out ALL had holes in the knees. Now, I have been a mom of all boys for 13 years. I know how rough boys can be. But this was a rare and spectacular demonstration of how rough guys can be on a pair of pants.
When I asked Tate about it, he said, “Mom, I just play hard.”
So true, but it reminded me of something my grandmother used to say, “Pray so hard you get holes in your jeans.” If I’m honest, I couldn’t echo Tate’s heart. “God, I don’t pray so hard. But I want to; I need to.” I’d like to pray so hard I have holes in my jeans. And not just one pair but every single pair.
