Wonder Woman

Our family loved the movie Wonder Woman.

In the make-believe story, Diana Prince, who is Wonder Woman, is a goddess with superhuman powers, and she wants to use her power to help those she loves. As her name suggests, it’s a wonder to watch.

We talked with our boys about the mythical premise of the movie regarding ancient gods and goddesses. All those stories are fantasy. But Scripture does have its own version of Wonder Woman found in Proverbs 31. She seems to have superhuman capabilities and uses all her best virtues for the good of her family and community.

But the Proverbs 31 woman isn’t superhuman. She doesn’t have special powers, but she has a very special God. As overwhelming as the idea may be, don’t be impressed with the woman — be impressed with her God.
