Putting Ourselves Last

Not long ago, I asked a friend of mine who’s in a hard season how he is doing, and he said, “I just don’t know how to put God first in my life.”

You know, I was struck by his honesty. And as I prayed about that difficult reality in my own life, I thought, “What if I just put myself last?”

Now listen, I know a lot of us are hardworking women who do put yourself last. Every day we take care of our kids, husband or co-workers. But putting ourselves last isn’t just about what we give up; it’s the attitude with which we do it. And for me, that’s the really hard part. Putting God first often means putting myself last and choosing not to pout about it.
