The Not So Secret Secret

My husband is a sucker for sleight of hand tricks.

At our last family dinner, he was showing my sister-in-law a trick where he changes a penny into a nickel. It’s really pretty impressive. At the end of it, she said, “How did you do that? Please, you have to tell me the secret.”

Better than any trick or illusion, we have experienced the ultimate exchange! We were broken and alone. But, Jesus made us whole. When people see us swap sorrow for joy or worry for peace, they often wonder what the deal is. How do we do it?

But, we can tell them the truth of that mysterious exchange. We have a real secret to tell. It’s Jesus. Only Jesus. No trick, just magnificent grace. And that’s a secret worth sharing.
