The last time my boys and the neighborhood kids got together, they decided to have a mud war.
I’m not sure I can adequately describe exactly what my boys looked like when they came home. They were covered in mud. It was everywhere. In their ears. In their eyebrows. Under their fingernails.
After I hosed them down and sent them in to take a shower, Cooper, my oldest, said, “Mom that was so fun, but I didn’t realize how hard it would be to get all the mud out.”
Sin is the same way. We can get caught up in something that seems innocent and fun. But the hard work usually comes when we have to start dealing with the consequences of our messy choices. And just like a mud war, sin makes our lives dirty and always leaves a stain.
And that’s a life lesson from my 11-year-old.
