Something New

I love new things.

I love a new shirt, a new pair of shoes or a brand-new journal. And don’t even get me talking about a new baby.

Are you like that? I suspect we all are. I think deep inside of us is a soulful awareness that we weren’t meant to see things age or wear out. We were created for perfection, but sin is a cancer that pollutes and destroys.

Would our shoes have worn out in Eden? I don’t know. But I do know that one day, Jesus will make everything permanently new and reclaim for you and me the perfection that we forfeited.

So, each time I lament that my body is wearing down or that I’ve got a new wrinkle, I’ll remember that it’s just temporary. And heaven’s perfection is closer with each passing day.
