When I was in the seventh grade, I sat down at the lunch table and one of my friends announced I had a massive pimple.

I scurried to the bathroom with my hand over my chin, only to find that Ashley was right. Y’all, this thing needed its own zip code or locker. I could have died. In that moment, I promised myself I’d never go to school again without checking in the mirror first.

Scripture is the mirror that God uses to point out the blemishes in my life.

Far worse than an untimely, unfortunate pimple, Scripture saves us from stepping out into the world with the blemishes of jealousy, gossip or pride. When I spend time in God’s Word, I see Jesus and mercifully, I see myself. His Word helps me see the areas that need cleansing. And I am so grateful.
