What We Won't Admit

I used to rarely confess my sins to the Lord.

Now let me be clear, I’d ask for forgiveness regularly. But I often didn’t name the specific sin I needed help turning from. As a result, I kept falling into the same traps over and over again.

Here’s the thing: We can’t address what we won’t admit.

So instead of making a general confession, I told the Lord I was sorry for the way I gossiped with my girlfriend at lunch the other day. I asked the Holy Spirit to help me stop getting sucked into the gab sessions that would hurt others and displease Jesus.

The next time I was tempted to get catty, guess what happened? Those words of confession immediately came to mind.

Is there an area you need to confess today? Be specific, and see how specifically the Lord responds.
