That Hurt My Feelings

I found out recently that several of my close friends went out for a girls’ night and I wasn’t invited.

I was surprised and honestly, pretty hurt. Believe me, I don’t expect to be included on every outing, but for some reason this one really stung.

Have you been there? It’s not a feeling you forget or just get over. This would be the place to quote a scripture about being loved or accepted. Those passages are true and sometimes helpful. But you know what else helps? Simply saying out loud to the Lord, “God, that hurt my feelings.” Because with Him we can be unedited, vulnerable and honest.

Jesus knows rejection and betrayal. He will empathize, listen and love you, and really that’s the best kind of comfort.
