Hello, and welcome to Day 2 of Foundations Week! I’m Katrina Wylie. I get to join you as one of your study leaders for this journey!
Question! Do you have a favorite passage in the Bible? Genesis 1 is among my favorites. There’s something special about cracking open a book and reading those first words of a good story. And the story of creation? I can’t think of any better beginning! That’s one of the things I love most about it — the confirmation that our God is a God of good beginnings.
From Day 1 to Day 6, God puts in the work and ends each day declaring that what He creates is “good.” Then He rests on Day 7. We all know the story, but here’s what I don’t want you to miss. We can use this “good week” model to lay the foundation for a successful study!
Today’s Tip: Make a Plan for Your Study
This is designed to be a daily study, with six days to dig in and a day to rest each week. We all get busy and have distractions that can derail us. But when we choose to set a plan beforehand, we set ourselves up to create a good, daily Bible study habit! To help you get started, check out the Study at a Glance, then consider the following questions:
- What study options will you do (Study Guide, blog, videos, audios, community, events)? Choose what works for you. You don’t have to include it all. God will use what you do!
- When will you do your study? Set a specific time of day. Have a back-up time in mind for if/when it doesn’t pan out!
- Where will you do your study? Pick a particular place and prep it with your study materials!
- How will you spend your study time? Determine what you’ll do first, second, etc. Find a flow that works for you!
