Write the Truth {Week 7, Day 2}

October 27, 2020
“40 Days” by Proverbs 31 Ministries | P31 OBS Week 7 Quote

Hey, y’all!

A few years ago I walked through a difficult season in my life. Something was wrong, though I had no idea what. I just sensed I had a deeper issue I needed to deal with. Guess what it was? Identity!

Five lies of identity are mentioned in the introduction to this week’s reading (p. 149). Quanny also brought these up in yesterday’s “Let’s Chat”: I am what I have, I am what I do, I am what other people say or think of me, I am nothing more than my worst moment, and I am nothing less than my best moment. For many years, I believed four of them. F-o-u-r!

In December, God pushed me to do something that changed my life:

Bible Study Tip! Regularly write out Scripture.

Y’all, doing this has changed how I think about myself! As the written scriptures started to replace the words I used to describe myself, real change happened for me. The power is in daily writing down what God says — not just a positive statement or a motivational speaker’s mantra, but Truth.

Who knows us better than our Father, Creator and Savior? No one, not even us! Our identity is found in Him. He shows us the Truth: We are His precious, beloved daughters.

So what do you say? Are you open to trying out this way to meditate on God’s Word? If so, expect to start seeing yourself as God sees you. It will make all the difference!

P.S. If writing Scripture isn’t an option for you, you could also try speaking it out loud.
