Welcome to Day 94 of Fighting Words!
How are you, friend? I’m knee deep in back-to-school prep at the moment with just days before my kids go back, and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. The beginning of another school year always brings a bit of stress for me as the one in charge of all the lists of things, and each day can be a lot. (For those of you who have kids and have already sent them to school, any advice is welcome.)
On top of the back-to-school pressure, I’m also praying for specific requests from friends and family that feel heavy. All of this is why I am so glad for the verse Ellie shares with us today! Let’s take a look:
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” (Psalm 68:19, NIV)
How amazing! He daily — yes, daily — bears our burdens!
I love this verse so much! But as I sat with Ellie’s questions that followed, I had to face the fact that I don’t let go of my burdens easily. I tend to have a white-knuckled grip on them.
But as Ellie asks on page 222, “What if we tried letting them go and laying them down upon our loving Father who ‘daily bears our burdens’”? Did that question just stop you in your tracks like it did me?
I need the truth from this verse to help me release my grip, one finger at a time. This is such a work-in-progress area of my life!
I’ll stop here so we can intentionally take some time with this verse, but I’ll be back on Monday for Day 98!
Blessings to you, my friend!
Erin
Fighting Back!
Let’s take some time to meditate on today’s verse and praise the Lord! As you read the questions from today’s devotion, choose one to sit and answer without rushing. Feel free to share about it in the comments if you’d like.
