When Doubt Feels Like a Bad Word

Hey there! My name is Kendra LeGrand (formerly Kendra Schwarz). It’s my honor to help us all get acclimated to the wild and wonderful world of P31 Online Bible Studies.

Leading up to our official kickoff date of April 12, you’ll receive a couple posts filling you in on ways to study, ways to get involved in community and other fun things! But for today, I want to focus on the main topic we’ll be studying: doubt.

If there was an award for Biggest Doubter, I’d be in the running to claim the title.

I struggle with making a decision if I don’t feel 100% confident it’s God’s will for my life. I saw doubt play out when I was in middle school trying to decide if I wanted to be in band or orchestra.

I saw it play out senior year of high school as I was deciding between two colleges.

And a few months ago, I saw it play out in the biggest way possible: deciding if I wanted to pursue a relationship that was headed toward marriage. Based on the name change, I think you can guess what I decided.

I don’t say all this to show you how everything worked out. I share this because, as Christians, we are taught to be bold and trust God, which can make doubt feel like a dirty word that causes us shame. But there’s no need for that. Doubt is from the enemy who would love nothing more than for us to live in a place of confusion and fear.

There’s hope, though.

The opposite of doubt is confidence. And confidence is from God. This is why I can’t wait to study Flooded: The 5 Best Decisions to Make When Life Is Hard and Doubt Is Rising by Nicki Koziarz. She gives us fresh perspectives on doubt and helps us learn how to live a life of confidence amidst the doubt. Amidst the fear. And amidst all the hard things of life.

It’s no accident this study came across your path. There’s something for you here. There’s something God wants to speak directly to you. How do I know? Because when Flooded came across my desk, the words, stories and Scripture Nicki chose spoke directly to me. It helped me put words to what I have been experiencing since middle school.

There’s hope here.

Life change will happen here.

And there’s no better time than now to experience both.

I can’t wait to study with you!

Kendra
