I’m Brandy Patton, an Online Bible Study leader here at Proverbs 31.
Wanna know what my superpower is? (Drumroll, please.) I can learn from anyone. Yes, it’s true! One day a friend and I heard a teacher talk in a steady, unvaried tone for three hours, with baby cries, sirens and chatter in the background. My friend walked away distracted. I walked away with five tips and a new favorite quote. Yep, hearing is how I learn!
What about you? Maybe, like my friend, you need to see, read or write down new information to understand it. Or perhaps talking it out with others helps you most. However you learn, though, it’s okay. Learning — not how we learn — is what’s important.
So check this out: Here at Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies, we offer you several options to help you get the most out of this study. They are the Bible Study Companion (BSC), Community Group, small groups and Bible Study LIVE at the Table. We also have teaching videos from Flooded author Nicki Koziarz to share with you each Friday. And guess what? It doesn’t matter which tools you use! Just choose the tools that help you learn.
I know you may be thinking, “Yeah, but what’s the right way to do the study?” Here’s the deal. The right way is whatever way helps you get the most out of it.
Let me show you how it works. Meet Rachel, Mary and Sara.
- Rachel reads her Bible and study book at different times every day. She loves watching the author videos on the weekends. The Facebook Community Group is where she connects with other participants. She and two other ladies talk about what they’re learning offline.
- Mary reads her Bible and study book every weekday afternoon. She sets an alarm to help her remember. She’s in a small group and comments in the group after she’s studied. She completes the BSC each week.
- Sara reads her Bible and study book at 2 a.m. before she goes to work. On Friday, she goes back and answers the study blog questions from the week. After she attends church online on the weekend, she watches the replay of that week’s Bible Study LIVE at the Table event.
They’re doing it differently, but they’re all learning and growing in Christ. That’s all that matters.
