It’s Monday — a new week, a new day with new mercies. I’m so glad you’re here with me to start Week 4!
I have to let you in on a secret: I’m not a fan of boats! I didn’t realize the level of my dislike until my husband and I were on our honeymoon. Can you guess what we booked? Yep. A cruise to Belize and the Caribbean. After three days of sitting on the top deck in my pj’s, without eating, showering or even combing my hair, I’m sure I was a sight. I ended up getting so sick and dehydrated that the cruise line offered to fly us back to the mainland with a full refund.
Yep, I’m that girl! So in today’s video, I had to snicker at one of Nicki’s responses to Kendra. You’ll see the connection. Meghan is also here to take us into her own “Doubt Diary” as she wrestles with the question, “Does God really care about me?” Let’s watch!
Here are the instructions to access closed captioning AND the video transcripts.
From now on, I will read the scriptures with a new mindset whenever I see the word “remember.” Thankful Nicki shared this with us! My honeymoon was something to remember indeed, but God taking action on my behalf? Well, that’s amazing!
Knowing He’s on my side helps me make Decision 4: To Remember Who Is in Charge. I don’t have to know all the details of how, when or what. That’s not my part. My part is obedience in doing what He asks me to in this moment. Like Nicki says on page 139 of Flooded:
“God’s in charge of the plan; I’m in control of my obedience.”
And it’s okay if I don’t get it perfect because God is there to counsel me along the way. Just like our Verse of the Week says in Psalm 32:8 (ESV):
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”
Praying for you!
This week’s Verse of the Week says “I will counsel you.” To counsel means to offer wisdom, which means God is helping us. How does knowing this help you take steps of obedience?
