Learning to Forgive Ourselves {Week 2}

January 27, 2021
BSC Cover 2

Hey, y’all!

My name is Stacy Lowe, and I’m here to lead you into our Week 2 Bible Study Companion (BSC) lesson.

While our Forgiving What You Can’t Forget study is about learning to forgive others, today’s lesson addresses something also important: learning to forgive ourselves.

I want to do right in the world. I want to always be kind and compassionate and patient and loving. But no matter how strongly I wish that was me 100% of the time, it’s just not. Some days I blow it. Badly. And I will beat myself up for it repeatedly. I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this.

Until God calls us home, this up-and-down, back-and-forth kind of existence is one we have to live with. But it’s NOT one we have to be enslaved to.

In today’s lesson, we’ll take a look at two different people in the Bible who always tried to do things right. They both had a personal encounter with Jesus, but their responses to His invitation were very different.

We’ll take a look at what happened afterward for each, what we can learn from them both, and how we can truly be free.

Heart to Heart:

Why do you think we struggle to forgive ourselves?
