Forgiving What Feels Unforgivable {Week 4}

February 10, 2021

Hi! My name is Wendy Blight. I serve as the biblical content specialist for our Online Bible Studies team. I’m excited to invite you to join me for our Week 4 Bible Study Companion, which begins on page 31.

If you’re like me, there are times you’ve struggled to forgive someone who has hurt you, but it was through one of the deepest, darkest journeys of my life God made two hard truths about forgiveness very clear. And, though I anchor our lesson today in my story of healing after being victimized by an armed masked man hiding in my apartment, the biblical truths and principles I share are universal and apply no matter the circumstances you may be walking through.

What are the two hard truths? God commands forgiveness, and words of forgiveness are the only way to true healing and wholeness!

We forgive not for how it makes us feel. We forgive to restore our relationship with our heavenly Father.

There are no magic words or fixed formulas. But, there are biblical promises, principles and practical strategies to equip us to forgive others as our gracious and merciful God has forgiven us.

Will you join me this week to take one more step on our journey to forgiveness?

Heart to Heart:

CHOOSING to forgive enables us to redirect our thoughts, reclaim what we’ve lost and reestablish control again. How can taking one step of forgiveness help you redirect, reclaim and/or reestablish?

P.S. Remember each week’s BSC lesson stands alone. And if this is your first one, visit our welcome letter found on the first page of the BSC.
