Merry Christmas, P31 OBSers!
This week as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, my prayer for you is that Jesus will remain at the center of your heart as you celebrate. The holidays come with mixed emotions for different people. No matter where you are, who you are with or the traditions and celebrations happening around you, just remember that you are so very loved by Jesus.
I gathered some of my favorite Bible verses for us to share and reflect on this Christmas. They are in no certain order; I’m literally writing to you as I would just sit down and share with a friend!
A Few of My Favorite Christmas Verses to Reflect On
Next to each verse, I’ve included my own reflection; you can write your own too!
"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21 - Thank you Jesus that You save me. No matter what I’ve done, forgiveness is mine because of You.
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." Matthew 1:23 - I love that His name, Emmanuel, means God with us. I can know that God is with me all the time.
"When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." Matthew 2:10 - The Magi (these are the 3 wise men in your manger scene) were excited to see the star pointing to the Christ-child. They “rejoiced with exceeding great joy!” Do I have that kind of joy over Jesus?
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people." Luke 2:10 - We don’t need to be afraid. This news, this great joy (Jesus) is for all people. You. Me. I am so grateful for this.
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 - This one might be my favorite. The Word became flesh. Jesus was born just like me and you and walked among us on this earth. Wow. He gets us and His grace and truth is for all of us.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." 1 John 4:7-9 - God is love. And He showed us this love by sending Jesus so we could live fully through Him. And this is why we celebrate Christmas. Jesus is here and I am loved by Him.
From all of us at Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies, we wish you a very merry Christmas!
