Welcome to Week 2! I’m so glad to be back with you as we learn to walk in obedience together.
Now, you may be thinking, “Did she really just use ‘glad’ and ‘obedience’ in the same sentence?”
Yes, yes I did.
Here’s the thing. While I’m aware the topic of obedience doesn’t exactly evoke the warm and fuzzies, I also know the word disobedience does even less so. And in today’s homework, we’re going to learn how disobedience (aka, our sin) brings with it two unwelcome travel “buddies” — shame and guilt.
Have these two tagged along for your journey with God? They have mine! That’s why I’m so glad to be studying obedience. While it may be a tough topic, walking with shame and guilt is SO much tougher! Amen?
So, do you want to ditch these Debbie Downers and trade them in for three different companions Wendy introduces us to on page 49 of I Am Loved — help, hope and healing? Yes, please! But first, let’s check out this week’s video.
Today, we not only get to hear Wendy’s wisdom on our Verse of the Week, and be blessed by another beautiful prayer, but we also get to meet someone new! As you watch, take note of this guest’s thoughts on obedience. Her words just may “add the glad” to the topic of obedience for you, too. :)

“Obedience to God’s Word is freedom.” — I LOVE that thought from Karen in today’s video! Disobedience holds us captive in shame and guilt, but obedience releases us to walk freely with God. Let’s walk freely, friends. Let’s choose obedience.
To help us with that, let’s commit to tucking this week’s treasure from God’s Word into our hearts:
“We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.” 1 John 2:3 (NIV)
As you check out your Week at a Glance for planning, don’t forget to grab your FREE phone lockscreen and/or Facebook banner. These are perfect to help us keep our verse handy for memorizing!

In today’s video, Kendra asked Karen what she loves about Bible study and her thoughts on obedience. What are your answers to these?
