Eat My Dust, Satan!

Hi! Glad you’re here to wrap up Week 5 together!

In the last blog post, we chatted about the saying, “Off to the races!” Today, I want to close out with another idiom — “Eat my dust,” which (according to Google) means, “to be out performed or out run by someone, usually by a very wide margin.” We’ll circle back to this, but first let’s revisit what God’s Word says about “eating dust.”

“So the LORD God said to the serpent … ‘on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.’” Genesis 3:14 (NKJV)

Well that gives a whole new visual to eating dust! But did you catch what Lysa TerKeurst had to teach about this in Chapter 9 of It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way? Satan, being the crafty enemy he is, took this dirt eating consequence from God and twisted it to his benefit. Like Lysa warned:

“God has a plan for our dust, but, rest assured, so does the enemy … He wants to consume our dust, so nothing good can ever come of it.”

Whoa. Anyone else want to insert the mind blown emoji here? But here’s the thing, we don’t have to sit idly by allowing our enemy to consume our dust. We can be proactive to apply Lysa’s teachings, such as:

  1. Taking in Truth regularly
  2. Studying God’s Word to better understand the enemy’s tactics
  3. Staying in community with those living out Truth

Yes, let’s be proactive so we can go “off to the races” with Jesus, out performing/running our enemy, proclaiming, “Eat my dust, Satan! My story will not be wasted.”

Loved getting to run part of this race with you!

Reflect and Respond:

Which (from the list) do you need to be more proactive to apply and how will you do so?
