Hey, there!
I’m Missy, and I will be leading you through Week 2 of Rest for Your Soul: Simple Practices When You’re Worn Out and Weary with Wendy Blight.
This week, we focus on quieting our hearts. This requires intentionality in our time with God, focusing on Him and His Word, not on what distracts us.
Jesus sets an excellent example of how to engage in this holy habit. Scripture records how Jesus went off by Himself numerous times after teaching, healing and preaching for prayer and solitude.
For years, my excuse was that I was too busy to participate in sacred pauses. I focused on my to-do list more than focusing on God. And you know what? My anxiety was at an all-time high.
Can you relate?
We all need quiet time to unplug, disconnect and calm our minds. I choose early mornings for my solitude. Before my family wakes up and the notifications on my phone start coming in.
How about you? When is your quiet time?
If this is the first time you’ve heard of solitude as a practice, you can start today! It may feel a little awkward at first, but you will come to treasure it and be amazed at how the Lord will use your time with Him.
This week’s memory verse is Psalm 4:8:
“In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
I’ll be back on Wednesday to share one of my favorite ways to memorize this scripture.
Blessings,
Missy
