God’s Protection and Redirection

February 12, 2022

In preparation for this letter, I sat down to catalog a few examples of God’s protection in my life and the lives of those closest to me. Have mercy, y’all! There are so many ways God has faithfully protected and redirected us that I couldn’t even narrow it down for this post.  So while I don’t have specific examples, I do have a suggestion.

Sit quietly before the Lord over the next few days and focus your thoughts on how God has protected you and your people. Spend some time writing down these examples to refer back to whenever you’re in need of encouragement.

Some of these examples may include:

  • Heartbreaking rejection that you now recognize as God’s divine redirection.
  • Broken relationships that may have led into sin-infested waters had they remained intact.
  • Loneliness and emptiness that led you to fill the void with more of God, less of the world.

In this final week, we studied the unusual, unexplainable, unlikely, unique and unchanging ways God protects His people. Seeing the thread of Jesus through the Old Testament these last several weeks has helped me see more clearly the thread of His faithfulness in my life, and I hope it helps you do the same.

  • Even though God’s protection often looks unusual from our human perspective, we can trust that, even when our suffering feels unbearable, God is working for our good and His glory.
  • While the sea in front of us may not part to provide an immediate escape from our enemies, we can rest assured that God’s unexplainable protection will bring us through to the other side.
  • Like Jonah, I’ve tried to run from God, especially when His plan led to places I didn’t want to go. Although we haven’t experienced the unlikely protection of God allowing us to be swallowed by a whale, when we desire obedience to God over acceptance of the world, His peace will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7
  • Just as God has created each of us uniquely, His protection in our lives is unique as well. I’m convinced one of God’s unique protections in my life is that He chose to allow me to live in this day and age where my infertility doesn’t label me as a woman cursed but as a woman holy, chosen and dearly loved, who is trusting Jesus with His plans for her life.
  • Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. And when we pray for eyes to see God’s hand at work in our lives, we can see His protection is unchanging from Genesis to Revelation and will continue to the end of time.

Thank you for joining us these last five weeks, friend. I have LOVED walking through this study with you. I hope you’re walking closer to Jesus and more confident in His love for you.

Much love,

Nichole

P.S. In this week's audio teaching, Joel and Kendra will help us put the final pieces together as we wrap up our study. Check it out! (And if you need the transcript, here you go!)
