Calming an Anxious Heart {Day 4}

April 13, 2023

Do you ever lie down at night so exhausted, yet your mind won’t stop racing? I’ve had seasons of uncertainty and sleeplessness. Times when my heart seemed like it couldn't slow down to connect with God. In those uncomfortable quiet times, often at night, my soul needs a simple promise to hold on to. In today’s evening reading, we find promises of salvation, rest and trust.

“This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: ‘In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength ...’” (Isaiah 30:15, NIV).

Today’s video message from Lysa offers three clear steps to calm your anxious heart in those uncomfortable quiet moments, and I invite you to take a moment and watch with me!

I want to do this well. I want to stay the course. Maybe you feel the same, or maybe you feel so overwhelmed by what life is throwing at you that carving out time each day feels nearly impossible. However you are feeling as we embrace this rhythm of releasing to and receiving from God, I want to remind you that you are not alone. God is working.

We are in this together!

Fear and shame often hold us back from embracing the quiet and leaning into God. He knows what troubles us and keeps us from rest. What can you release back to Him in prayer today?
