Not long ago, my son Ryder chose a snack without asking me, and it was the sugary, fake variety.
Not surprisingly, his Pop-Tart didn’t last long and didn’t satisfy.
In Isaiah 55, the Lord asks why we spend money and energy on things that will never satisfy us. And He isn’t talking about food for the body; He’s talking about food for the soul.
It’s a fair question for all of us to consider. I’m guilty. Social media, frivolous television or silly spending don’t fill my soul or give life meaning. Like my boys, I can make foolish, impulsive decisions about what fills my heart and mind. And the junk food of this world won’t satisfy me either.
