My alarm went off, and before I even got out of bed, my chest tightened. My thoughts were already spiraling — work stress, social confusion, fear of the future. Breakfast didn’t sound appetizing. Peace felt impossible.
That anxious weight followed me all week. I overcompensated, overthought, and became someone I wasn’t. Worst of all, I missed out on the joy God had for me.
The following Monday, I scrolled on my phone instead of getting up. A post popped up: “Bible before phone.” I rolled my eyes. I've heard that plenty of times. Surely that couldn’t fix everything … or could it?
Determined to find out, I opened my Bible, landing on a verse I had heard before — but this time, it struck me.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us …” (Ephesians 3:20).
I realized I hadn’t asked God for strength. Instead, I had thrown Him tired prayers like, Just help me get through the day. I never fully trusted Him to do more than I imagined.
So now I whispered: “Lord, will You show me Your power today? I need You.”
And He did. No, my emails didn’t vanish. My friendships didn’t magically untangle. My future didn’t fall into place. But I had peace in the middle of the chaos … and that changed everything.
If you’re feeling anxious today — whether it’s because of a long to-do list, fear of failure, or something much bigger or smaller — remember these three truths:
God can do more than you imagine. Your worst-case scenarios aren't truth. They’re distractions. Fix your eyes on a God who’s not just “getting you by” but writing a story of grace and redemption in your life, even now.
Depending on God means asking for His power and peace every day. Don’t be too busy to talk to the Prince of Peace. Invite Him in. Even a simple prayer — like, Lord, I need You today — can change the atmosphere of your soul.
You need His presence more than you need a perfect plan. Talking to a friend can bring you a sense of relief. A walk in the sun is great. Meal prep may help. But what you most need is more of Jesus. Let His presence shape your perspective. Your circumstances may not change, but His power working within you can bring peace in the storm.
When you feel the pressure rise and your thoughts drift to fear, pause and remember: Peace is possible. Not because your schedule is light or everything goes your way but because God's power is real.
Let Him do immeasurably more than all you can ask or imagine.
Lord, when I feel overwhelmed, remind me of Your power. I trust You to do more than I can see or dream. Give me peace, strength, and perspective today. When my mind races toward the worst-case scenario, remind me You're leading me to Your best. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
